Fatima has magical hands! My friend took me to etant for my 33rd birthday and it was a wonderfully relaxing spa experience. The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and just plain good at what they do. The spa also has a very nice warm and calming vibe (unlike Bliss, for example, which provides excellent services, but is too bright and feels like a set from The Jetsons). My only complaint is that the rooms are on the cold side, and I actually had goosebumps until Fatima provided a blanket. Overall, an excellent experience and I am interested in going again soon for a massage or facial. read more

My husband and I spent a long weekend in Boston. We decided massages & facials on Saturday afternoon. My husband had his first facial ever... He was very relaxed and very happy after. Then we had a couples massage. He said his was great, especially the feet. My was amazing! I could feel the that my therapist was passionate about his job. I had a massage here in November of 2012. I elected to get the Integrative massage and Mike was my massage therapist. The spa is very clean and has a peaceful feeling. The reception area is right off a main street, but there is not a lot of street noise. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The room that we were in was right next to reception, but there was no noise disturbance. Mike is an excellent massage therapist with very strong hands. I booked a last minute sports massage and it was fantastic! I've walked by Etant so many times...it's easy to miss, but I encourage you to stop in. I was greeted by a lovely person at the front desk and my masseuse, Keith, worked wonders! He was able to relieve my very tight neck and shoulders. As a dancer, I've had many massages in my day. Keith incorporated several different effective techniques, applying just the right amount of pressure and attending to all the areas that required more focused attention. If you care all about the integrity of your eyebrows do not come to this place. I made an appointment with Bernadette to get my eyebrows done. All I needed was a slight trim and the stray hair above and below my brows cleaned up. I specially asked for a slight trim and a CLEAN UP. I said that I didn't want the shape or the thickness of my brows altered at all. Instead, I left the salon with 2 shapeless eyebrows, the arch completely gone and eyebrows that are noticeably thinner. Also, my left eyebrow is a completely different shape than my right brow. I'm literally embarrassed to be seen with these eyebrows. I'm not sure how they do with other services but stay away from this place if you care about your eyebrows. I honestly would have been better off doing them myself. I've had some pretty awful eyebrow waxed but this one BY FAR was the worst. read more

I looked at some of the fancy chains but after reading reviews decided on Etant and I'm glad that I did. The place does have a bit of a hole in the wall feel, no slick changing rooms where you sip cumber water. However the staff is top notch beginning with the kind and helpful person that made our reservations. We three each came out declaring that it was the best massage we had ever had! My best friend and I went to Étant for the first time this weekend. It was a birthday celebration, so I wanted it to be special, and it certainly was! The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. They even rearranged the schedule so my friend and I could have our appointments when we wanted them. From the moment you walk in, Jeanne immediately makes you feel welcome. The rest of the staff are equally as warm and inviting. As for the services, we each had a customised facial, massage, and lemon sugar body scrub. The staff explain the various steps involved in each treatment and are extremely attentive. I went in for a package deal; the scrub and hand/foot treatment was good, the body massage was amazing. I probably wont go back for the others but I plan to now make regular massage appointments with Randy Sue. She was very friendly and sweet, made sure to ask me what my problem areas were and focused on relaxing tense muscles in those areas. She knew how to apply just the right amount of pressure. Etant is a jewel. While I've been to fancier spas, they don't come any friendlier or more competent. If you're looking for marble fixtures and luxurious surroundings, this isn't the place. It's clean and well appointed, but not luxe. But if you want wonderful staff, terrific services, reasonable prices and to generally be treated kindly and caringly, you can't top this place. I've loved every service I've ever had here, and they're definitely my go-to spot for pampering. This place is the South End's neighborhood spa - it's been around for longer than the others and I just seem to keep coming back. I've gone to the spas on Newbury St. & at the different gyms - but Etante just seems to be better - they have great massage therapists - very professional and awesome at what they do - and great waxing services - I've tried these all over Boston and seriously - this is the best waxing place in the city. There is one woman who always answers the phone and schedules appointments and she is so nice and so cool - it's not a corporate feel - but it is so professionally run and the atmosphere is just so mellow that when I really need to relax I just call Etante - it's no attitude - great massage and waxing - they offer other services too - but I've never gone to those. read more

I had a low back injury, and not only did Keith give me the best massage ever had but he made my back feel better than it had for a long time. Went to Etant today for a massage with Bobby. This is my fourth visit to the Spa and my second massage there (first one not with Bobby, but still excellent). The staff is always friendly, efficient, and professional. The facility is in excellent condition and spotlessly clean. Bobby's massage was outstanding. I was very disappointed. For the price, the ambiance, or lack of design of the reception room and the sloppy look of the staff was a let down the moment I walked in. I had a young woman for a 1.5 hour massage. There are some that have the gift of touch, others not, this woman was not skilled. It was as if she had ADD, no fluidity to her hand or strokes, and it was as if she were in a rush. I took the time to fill out a form, which no one reads, then tell her where my problem areas were and not to spend 3/4ths of the time on my back, and she spent 3/4ths of the time on my back. I was not able to just enjoy, because my attention was drawn, like mental static, to her jerky movements and worse, her feet in nubby socks. read more
