5 stars for the views and aesthetics. The breakfast buffet was decent and I really like how they concealed the buffet line with a beaded entryway. Valet $20 and they do not validate. There are live birds flying in and out the dining area, so if you leave your plate alone all the birds will swarm to your table and eat off your plate! Overall great experience and breakfast buffet was around $60/each THE KALUA PORK EGGS BENEDICT WAS MY FAVORITE!!

This is a go to place for breakfast. We purchased the breakfast package and went here every morning to try out their buffet. There were so many options to choose right from oatmeal, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, muffins to even live egg omelette station. There were plenty of desserts and tropical juices too. They even had Asian food like miso ramen and dumplings. Views were great as usual and since it was open , there were so many birds flying all around and you just have to cover your food if going for a refill.

We eat breakfast here twice during our trip to Kauai. We are planning on going one time, but it was so good we decided to go twice. I may stop in one more time before I leave if I have time. Mary was our waitress both times and she was awesome. She even helped us figure out where we needed to go to get a few things we've been looking for. The variety of food was pretty nice. We didn't get bored of the food. The ambiance was amazing. Open air and the mountains off the deck... very enjoyable.

While staying at the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, we purchased the breakfast package at the 1 Kitchen Hanalei Bay and little did I know that was a wise one. Everyday you can dine right in front of the bay and you can start your day with such a hearty diet! The beautiful open space , fresh smell of special locally brewed coffee and feathery visitors. Yes, you have a lot of birds swopping in to get a taste of the food when you just leave your table to refill from the buffet counters. The waiter gave a lid to cover our plates when we were gone. Coming to the food, the breakfast buffet was enough to feed a village, local to continental to international. Food options: Soaked oats Live omlette station - with veggies, cheese and meats of your choice Bagels, breads, pain au chocolate, croissants Avacado toast - garnished with grape tomatoes, radish, herbs Dumplings - veggie filled, steamed ones Miso soup Taro pancakes Tropical fruit juices Must-try, great service, ambiance and out-of-the-world views. Tip: Go early to get the best seats.

This restaurant is located inside of the 1 Hotel and $20 valet parking is necessary because there is no other place to park. On arrival the valet didn't really help, I had to get out of the car and try to make eye contact to be acknowledged. You have to walk through the hotel a bit to get to the restaurant and go down a set of stairs to the hostess. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the restaurant is absolutely stunning and more beautiful in person. Pictures do not do it justice. I ordered the chicken pita with fries and my husband the burger and fries for lunch. Honestly the food was good but nothing to wow about. The staff and scenery are what made this experience memorable. I would definitely recommend and I plan to come back to try something different. I also had a cocktail which was very delicious.

Stunning room, but one of the worst dinning experiences I've ever had. We spent a fortune on the top items, from a $250 tomahawk to the $70 pastas. Food took 90 minutes, server disappeared for 40 minutes and pasta was a pile of mush when it arrived. Manager's response was "we're busy," but the room was only half filled and other tables got in and out before us. I don't like to write reviews like this, and wouldn't have if the manager had been even modestly sorry -- but he was standoffish.

3.5 stars. Fantastic view-breathtaking view of hanalei bay. Drinks and food overpriced and under seasoned as to be expected with such a great view. Restaurant is really beautiful inside too. Had the shrimp as an appetizer which were 4 shrimp for 32$-they were okay, not memorable. I did have the pineapple crème brûlée which was delicious. Our server was kind and made Kauai recommendations for us. I still recommend checking it out-Maybe just enjoy the view with drinks instead of dinner?

Before I get into my review, I want to highly recommend visiting during the day. The views are incredible. There is a reason why this place is known for the views! When you arrive, the host kindly greets you. I knew in that moment, we were off to a great start! The waitress was also so sweet and gave great recommendations. I asked for a table by the balcony so I can enjoy the views and got exactly what I expected! I ordered the Heat Wave cocktail, it was so yummy. If you like tequila this is a great option. I then started with the sourdough bread rolls, SO GOOD. Save a couple to go with your dinner, trust me on this. Then ordered the Spicy Kona Crab pasta... probably the best dish I've ever had! It was so full of flavor and light enough to not feel so filling. The portion size is very generous, and remember those rolls I told you to save? Dip them in the sauce! I finished the night with their version of an espresso martini made with rum, it was so decadent. Can't recommend this place enough!

Here for the first time and I was excited to see the amazing dinner views and if you're able to celebrate a birthday with the view sunset it's worth it -- we were sat an outside table with the sun setting and it was just beautiful would go back during the day. Also it was pricey but expected for an establishment like this . Started with the Kauai Tai was perfection would get it again love the liliko'i + hibiscus foam. Seafood tower was great for three , unfortunately mignonette was not fan of the poke or ceviche could have done without and had more oysters with the cucumber mignonette or some extra hamachi . MP catch of the day was a Hawai'i yellow fish or amber jack and it was cooked to perfection it was buttery inside and crisp skin with like green herb chimichurri like sauce . Spicy Kona crab rigatoni which had a great kick loved all the fresh crab on top Brussels sprouts were crispy and flavorful super tasty . Ending with the pineapple crème brûlée great we shared with three but definitely could have gotten my own and devoured if we didn't get entree heavy. Thank you to Darren our waiter who made great selections he definitely attended to us and made sure those water cups were full. Definitely would go back for another drink during the day .

We had such a wonderful experience at 1 Kitchen. The service from Ryan was absolutely top-notch -- warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. He made the whole evening feel special without ever being over the top. The food was lovely -- fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can taste the care in every dish. And the atmosphere? Unreal. Dining while looking out over the ocean at Hanalei Bay feels like something out of a postcard. Relaxed, breezy, and truly North Shore perfection. Highly recommend 1 Kitchen for an amazing meal with exceptional service and unforgettable views.

    Rooftop Rosemary French Fries

The views of the place are second-to-none and as such make this a perfect spot to grab drinks. Similarly the service is pretty good. I cannot say the same about the food. I ordered their tenderloin and did not taste any seasoning on it whatsoever. It came with an arugula salad that was completely plain, literally just arugula leaves. Honestly I was angry so I sent it back. At the price point they are charging I really expect the food to be tasty. Also the steak was incredibly overcooked. Finally, a steak with a few leaves of arugula is underwhelming. I was taken aback that it didn't come with any sides. So, I sent it back and just ordered their rosemary fries. They tasted fine but were very ordinary and I am pretty sure the Parmesan was from a can. My boyfriend's snapper was a 6/10. It was decent but understated and a pretty basic curry sauce. I watched the table next to us take a bite or two of each of their dishes and send them back/left them untouched. Come for the drinks, don't waste your money on the food.

I enjoyed a Cabernet Sauvignon, Routestock Coriander-with a lovely Sesame Ahi tuna

Amazing way to relax and enjoy yourself, especially since it was a birthday celebration!

Ambiance - We chose this spot because of the stunning view, which truly was spectacular! 5/5 Service - Unfortunately, the service was quite slow, which was a bit disappointing. 1/5 Food - The food was okay, though it lacked a bit of flavor and the portions are small for the price. 2/5

    What is the dress code?

I'd wear a nice Hawaiian style outfit - sun dress type thing. It's a pretty nice place, so dress up a bit!

Do they have a kids menu?

Yes, and absolutely amazing restaurant and views! Everything was incredible! We ate there daily for 9 of our 10 days we were at the resort! Breakfast buffet is unreal!!!

How far in advance can you make a reservation?

Dinner I would make as far advance as you can. I made ours a wk ahead. Breakfast and lunch was walk in with minimal wait (in June)

I almost canceled after seeing a few mixed reviews online, but I'm really glad we decided to go anyway. First off - you really come here for the atmosphere and the view. It is absolutely incredible! Sitting outdoors taking in the Kauaʻi landscape is top-tier. The menu itself is pretty limited. Here's what we tried: Papaya Salad: Really refreshing and tasty, though a bit steep on the price tag for what it is. Pork Belly Ramen: good but definitely not authentic-level ramen and at $30 (even with the added spicy miso sauce) it was just okay. I probably wouldn't order it again. Sesame/Ground Pork Soup (Hubs' order): He got a dish with ground pork and udon noodles in a sesame base broth, and that one was actually really delicious! Service was stellar! Our waiter, Keoni, was super attentive, friendly, and awesome overall. While the ramen prices are on the high side for what you get, the view, service, and ambiance made it a wonderful evening out on our trip!

Request a table near the windows for a sunset view. We arrived and were greeted and seated immediately. Shortly afterwards we were served complementary spicy edamame. We ordered three appetizers to share. Brussel Sprouts & Cauliflower, Black Garlic & Yuzu Ahi Tartar and Vietnamese Style Sashimi. The Brussel Sprouts & Cauliflower was excellent, golden raisins and pine nuts add sweetness and texture, balsamic vinegar counters with wonderful acid contrast. The Black Garlic & Yuzu Ahi Tartar is simply fabulous, one of the best bites I have ever had. I first had this dish two years ago when it was introduced as a new dish in a prefix meal. On that trip we returned to enjoy the dish once again. Had it again last year as I travel to Kauai each year. I'm happy to see it is still on the menu! Our third dish was the Vietnamese Style Sashimi and it was okay, although a bit underwhelming for Eating House standards. It was fresh but lack the complexity that I have grown to expect from this restaurant. We requested some wasabi and it helped with the flavors. My thinking is the jalapeño oil should have been more concentrated or pronounced. To be clear I did not complain, regardless the dish was removed from our bill. Very nice. Thank you. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The view at sunset was amazing. Looking forward to returning. Highly recommended!

The front desk staff guided me to the elevator. This trip was for my birthday. In every reservation when asked about a special occasion, I put birthday. This was the first restaurant to acknowledge my special day. The check-in staff wished me well as did the server. We had been to several restaurants prior to Eating House that didn't say a word. Kudos to the staff for its kindness. The restaurant is open air and very comfortable. It has a rustic feel. We were seated by the window on a cool, rainy night but were perfectly dry the whole evening. On top of that, our server was very helpful in guiding us to order the right amount of food. He brought us a serving of edamame which is always on the house. The shrimp & pork potstickers were very good. I had the ramen which was tasty, filling and a great choice. Our server was terrific to put the spicy oil on the side which made it easier for me to eat. My husband had the butterfish which is the best I have ever tasted. It is a signature dish and always a pleaser. The only real downside is the limited menu. We were told that because of a staff shortage, it wasn't the typical menu. This was disappointing. But they did have the best of the Roy's dishes. So far, it has been the best experience that we have had in Poipu.

We decided to celebrate our 5 year anniversary yesterday here at Hukilau Lanai. We are both extremely big foodies and had high expectations based on the reviews (and price). We specifically came here for the fish dishes that use local fish. I never had the chance to eat here before so this review is solely based on my experience yesterday. Poke nachos ($23): 7/10, solid nothing special Soup of the day, Fisherman's Jalapeño corn chowder ($5): 6.5/10, also decently solid but nothing special. The little kick of spice was nice. Hukilau mixed grill ($49): 7/10, the sauce was delicious and trying the various fish was fun. Fish were cooked well and not too dry. The one on the far right was my favorite. Nairabi ($48): 6/10, the crust was excellent but I did not like the pumpkin curry sauce. The marlin actually tasted better when I mixed it with the sauce of the mixed grill. Mashed potatoes were decent. Marlin was a tad bit dry but not sure if that's how it's supposed to be. Coconut cheesecake ($14.5): 9/10, I LOVE COCONUT! Delicious dessert, portion was a lil small tho Lava cake ($18): 3/10, very okayy I personally did not like it especially the outside chocolate cake part tasted off We were seated in a spot on the lanai to the side which was beautiful and peaceful. The service was great, we were constantly being checked up on which was nice. Our server was welcoming and kind. I liked that they give a vase of water so you can pour yourself since we drink a lot of water. Would we come again? No. Although service was great and the fish was decent it was still quite lackluster taste wise especially when compared to the price point. There was a lot of flavors going on with the dishes that felt distracting to me that didn't truly bring out the taste of the fish. Sauce is the most important part of fish dishes. I also don't know if it might've been the food but my partner had a stomach ache afterwards. We also gave our fish leftovers to my brother and it hurt his stomach too lol I was fine though so not sure from what.
