Right from the beginning the Hostess Would not seat us 5 minutes earlier for our reservation with nearly no one in the restaurant. Then our Server Art had a response to my question about the fish i asked how is that prepared he said "I'm not going to get into the scientific definition of how it is prepared " I was flabbergasted after spending over 40 years in the hospitality industry I've never had such rude service. The manager tried to make up for him and sometime later into service he came and apologized my guess is she made him. The food was good. But overall experience took away from our enjoyment.

Came here for dessert since I saw that had a gluten free chocolate cake on the menu. Wow was it fantastic! It comes with fresh strawberries, a scoop of delicious ice cream and some very heavy (possibly homemade?) whipped cream. I told them to leave the coulis off since it's not usually my thing. There were even chocolate chips on the side. The cake was so flavorful and rich and everything around it was so good too. Definitely a split-able large portion too. Staff were amazing and their tea is top notch too. My one small criticism was there there was a bit of frost bite somewhere in the dish, as I noticed ice crystals in a few bites (probably the ice cream) but overall the dish was still wonderful.

Parking was a little bit troublesome, but finally finally found one, we had a special that was seared blackened tuna, and two scallops. The scallops were salted salted salted with finishing salt. It was miserable to eat, but they did take 10% off for the way overly salted salted salted scallops. But the tuna was amazing! We sat outside by the fire and it was romantic. The staff was slow to respond to our need for her, when it came to check time, they added another 30 minutes onto our visit.

The food was good but without Art it would be just another dinner spot. Art service was exceptional and made this experience off the wall. The ambience was perfect. Thank you Art!

We were able to make reservations on Monday for Tuesday. On Tuesday we went a little early and even though we were early in no time we were seated. Our server Art was great. We were served in no time and the food was excellent. I had the Cioppino it was chefs kiss. It was a little dark but the ambiance was great.

We went for the Valentine's Day prefix menu special. Overall we had a lovely time. The food was well prepared and the ambiance was nice, but there were a few hiccups. 1. We were seated next to a common area, so while trying to have a romantic dinner we had quite a few families walking by our table. If you can imagine families on vacation, you know what it was like. 2. The fish house, which has only one pork option on their main menu, served pork on their prefix. Now, I take full responsibility for not calling and checking beforehand, and I definitely will from now on, but I would have appreciated knowing ahead of time (the prefix menu wasnt posted anywhere) or at least given an option. I hadnt eaten pork in over 10 years before that night, but felt compelled to eat it in order to respect the life of the animal and avoid having the meat thrown away. Another couple seated near us complained about the same thing. Had I seen the menu beforehand and understood there were no substitutions, I would have gone elsewhere. 3. Service suddenly slowed down to a crawl in the middle of the dinner. Not sure what happened but other couples came and went as we sat for just over two hours. The waiter came by in a fast walk at one point and snagged our empty wine glasses, but didnt offer to bring us anything else. We would have each had at least one more beverage. Oh well. It was a long time, even for Valentines day, for us to sit and stare at each other with no food or drink. I also had to ask for the check. I kind of wanted to bring those items to the attention of the restaurant as all were very easy fixes. Otherwise it was a great night, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. My wife appreciated the rose she was given when we came in.

    Pork Belly was good.

This place had such glowing reviews online we were really looking forward to eating here tonight. When we called we asked for a table around 8. They told us the earliest we could come in was around 8:15 to 8:30 when we said 8:15 the host again pushed back between 8:15 and 8:30. Not a big deal if we had to wait till 8:30 but we wanted to be curious of the fact they close at 9. When we did get to the restaurant there was only 1 table in the place full. The server was clearly preoccupied with closing duties and didn't do much to serve our table but she did recommend the Filet and Mahi Mahi as her favorite dishes so we ordered both. A while into waiting for food I asked for bread since it had not been brought to our table even though the tables were set with bread plates with little butter knives. Server seemed shocked and quickly grabbed some. Water was also let to be empty. The drinks were bad but even when empties no refills were offered. Appetizer came out quick and was good. It earned its one star. However, the Filet while advertised with a butter medallion and show online with butter came with just the Demi sauce. Steak was tender but the flavor seemed very off. Probably because it was missing the butter medallion that would have mixed with the Demi sauce. Mahi Mahi was just okay. Not what you expect from a meal that's over $50. Now let's talk about the ambiance! This was the end of the night and the table that was there when we got there left relatively quickly. Part of this was our long day and late dinner. However, they were the ones who had us come in as late as we did. The music playing was so low we couldn't even hear it. What we could hear was the waitress talking with another worker while they did closing duties and the kitchen that was clearly still working on things for other restaurants and cleanup around the hotel. They were dumping dishes, talking loudly and having "kitchen talk" if you know anything about a kitchen you know that means it included a lot of loud cussing and not what you want in a nice restaurant setting. Ordered the Hawaiian spice and a Pina Colada. Worst drinks we have had on the island in the week we have been here. The Luau on the same property had better drink offerings from its open bar. The buffet food at the Luau was also better. At the end of the night I paid the check and decided to ask the waitress if the streak (that she said was her favorite) normally comes without the butter that it's advertised with or if it was just a bad night? She couldn't answer me and said she would go ask. We left before she came back with an answer but nothing says you are recommending the most expensive thing on the menu with no real opinion on it like not even knowing how it's served. Absolute worst meal experience of our trip. We laughed at how long the McDonald's line was while we were walking to the restaurant. We should have just went to McDonald's. Including an updated menu and drink menu since neither seem to be posted online and they are not nearly what is currently posted on Yelp.

Easily one of the best meals we had on the island! We sat outside and the ambiance was so relaxing with the breeze and tiki torches. We had the special, which was blackened seared ahi tuna & scallops over furikake rice. It was amazing! Our server, Ann Marie, was very attentive and so sweet. She even made sure to put our order in before a really large party so it didn't take too long. This was a perfect meal to end our anniversary vacation.

Absolutely delicious. We've been visiting restaurants throughout the island and was thoroughly impressed with the food at our own booked resort - Coconut Beach Kauai. Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive.

This is our second trip to Kauaʻi, and without a doubt, this has been the best restaurant experience we've had on the island. Every dish we ordered was incredibly flavorful and generously portioned. My fiancé couldn't stop talking about the mussel and shrimp pasta--he said it was the best pasta dish he's ever had. My mom ordered the catch of the day with risotto and said it was the best risotto she's ever tasted. The flavors of the fresh fish and risotto complemented each other perfectly. I had the teriyaki ribs, and I absolutely fell in love with the teriyaki sauce. It had the perfect balance of savory and sweet without being overpowering, making every bite delicious. The owner was one of the sweetest and most hospitable people we've met. She went above and beyond by personally making my mom a custom mocktail, which she absolutely loved. That level of genuine hospitality made our experience even more special. 10/10--we would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Kauaʻi. We loved every minute of our meal, and my fiancé kept saying he wishes we had a place like this on Oʻahu. We'll definitely be back on our next visit!

When we pulled up around 7pm, there was just 1 other party that was there and they were seated outside. There was live music and we asked to be seated right in front of him. Boy, that was a big mistake as the speaker was right there and it was very difficult for me and my wife to carry any kind of conversation. That was mostly my fault and I should have asked to be seated a few tables back. But it was fine as the musician was great the whole night with his soothing voice and relaxing tunes. There were only 2 servers at the time so getting my drink refilled was a little slow. We ordered the fried enoki mushrooms. Not sure where they were going with this dish as enoki mushrooms don't really have any taste to them. Plus it's a little stringy. I thought it was a little oily. Not sure if the oil was hot enough when they fried this, but it was a bit greasy and since it didn't have any taste to it, the tartar sauce pretty much carried the dish. My ribeye, however, was great. It was cooked medium-rare with a lot of mashed potatoes. The peppercorn cream sauce was a nice touch and didn't overshadow the meat. The one thing I would suggest is that the ribeye was on the thin side, so it didn't get that char crispiness that you would be able to get on a thicker steak. Since I asked for it to be medium rare, getting the desired texture would not be possible. I would have liked to be thicker as the bite would be more substantial. I normally associate a thin cut to a cheap or budget steak. Flavor-wise and temp, it was perfect. There was so much mashed potatoes that I ended up leaving half of it on the plate. It's a garlic mash and really tasty. The Osso Buco was tender, fall off the bone. I did, however, find it to be a little too salty though. You also get a lot of Risotto. They do not skimp on portions here. Great find.

From the moment you arrive, you know you're in for something special. Complimentary valet parking, breathtaking views of the ocean, beautifully manicured golf course, infinity pools, and even a distant lighthouse create an unforgettable setting before you even sit down. We started with the Lobster Tempura and the Grilled Octopus, and both were excellent. The cocktails were beautifully crafted and the perfect way to begin the evening. For our entrées, we ordered the Kampachi (the first fish on the menu) and the Filet Mignon. After sharing both dishes, my husband and I completely agreed--the fish was the clear winner. It was absolutely outstanding. Every element on the plate complemented the others perfectly, creating one of those dishes you remember long after dinner is over. The filet mignon was very good--perfectly cooked and flavorful--but if we returned, we would order fish again without hesitation. In fact, we'd probably try the other fresh fish option as well (I believe it was Opah). Dessert was the perfect ending to the meal. We enjoyed the warm chocolate cake and the Hawaiian-inspired banana split, both beautifully prepared and delicious. This is the kind of restaurant you choose when you want to celebrate a special occasion or simply treat yourself to an exceptional meal. The combination of stunning scenery, attentive service, creative cocktails, and outstanding cuisine makes it well worth the visit. We decided to celebrate our 5 year anniversary yesterday here at Hukilau Lanai. We are both extremely big foodies and had high expectations based on the reviews (and price). We specifically came here for the fish dishes that use local fish. I never had the chance to eat here before so this review is solely based on my experience yesterday. Poke nachos ($23): 7/10, solid nothing special Soup of the day, Fisherman's Jalapeño corn chowder ($5): 6.5/10, also decently solid but nothing special. The little kick of spice was nice. Hukilau mixed grill ($49): 7/10, the sauce was delicious and trying the various fish was fun. Fish were cooked well and not too dry. The one on the far right was my favorite. Nairabi ($48): 6/10, the crust was excellent but I did not like the pumpkin curry sauce. The marlin actually tasted better when I mixed it with the sauce of the mixed grill. Mashed potatoes were decent. Marlin was a tad bit dry but not sure if that's how it's supposed to be. Coconut cheesecake ($14.5): 9/10, I LOVE COCONUT! Delicious dessert, portion was a lil small tho Lava cake ($18): 3/10, very okayy I personally did not like it especially the outside chocolate cake part tasted off We were seated in a spot on the lanai to the side which was beautiful and peaceful. The service was great, we were constantly being checked up on which was nice. Our server was welcoming and kind. I liked that they give a vase of water so you can pour yourself since we drink a lot of water. Would we come again? No. Although service was great and the fish was decent it was still quite lackluster taste wise especially when compared to the price point. There was a lot of flavors going on with the dishes that felt distracting to me that didn't truly bring out the taste of the fish. Sauce is the most important part of fish dishes. I also don't know if it might've been the food but my partner had a stomach ache afterwards. We also gave our fish leftovers to my brother and it hurt his stomach too lol I was fine though so not sure from what.
