Drove thru Lacey looking for dinner and went for Korean. Sweet lady sat our family of 4 with pleasant smile. We chose the BBQ style for 2-3 ppl which includes short ribs, sliced pork and chicken but she offered any number of options without up charge, prob because we obvi were out of towners and to cater to our 2 young children. Also ordered kimchee soup. Meaty was yum and not too sweet as I've been noticing with a lot of Korean restaurants to cater to American palettes (as I've been told). 5 stars for family friendliness, memorable food and perfect service. This is one our family's favorite Korean joints. Little bit more pricey than the one down the street but they make you feel welcome.. Having served in Korea this place serves some realistic Korean meals that will entice anyone begging for memories of time served in Korea. Definately worth one trip. We love this place. We've been eating here for years but never have written a review. Everything we have tried is good, I especially like the Bibimbaps and the Skillets. The homemade kimchi and all the other sides are delicious and the restaurant is very comfortable. There are tables were you can barbeque your own dinner, it's a fun experience for a larger group or when you have out of town guests. The owners are very friendly. I've tried the other nearby Korean places and they are good but this one is my favorite. read more

Every time I come in the owners always come over to my table and ask how I've been and make me feel at home. The owner is the sweetest lady I have ever met and she herself deserves 5 stars. Also along with the amazing array of side dishes and Korean meals to choose from its impossible to get tired of any of the menu items! I also appreciate that they switch around their side dishes so that you can always try something new every time you come in! But if you're not sure if its better to come at lunch or at dinner, don't worry! They have great options for both lunch and dinner! This restaurant is also large group friendly so if you wanna take the whole family to dinner then go ahead! There are huge booths that you can grill your own meat at your table and that makes it nice because you can cook the meat the way you like it. Coming from South Korea not to long ago we missed the cook your own food (at your own pace, relaxed) type atmosphere so we decided to come here. The side dishes and meat aren't the worst but they also aren't the greatest tasting. Prices are a little too high and service was a little too slow but our waiter was nice. We got different parts of what we ordered through out the entire service, to include soup almost right before we asked for the check. We ordered the all you can eat and got a weird response to exactly what we could order and when, not sure why it's like that. Décor is definitely old and could use a refreshing clean look. Not used to the unprotected large metal hot box under the table, be careful of that! Looks like this place is either a hit or miss. We'll probably look for another korean BBQ restaurant before we come back. Also, not sure why anyone would complain about cooking their own food here as there are obvious grill plates on the tables and raw meats on the menu, I'm assuming they though this was a have a chef cook in front of you place, it's not. And with it not being "authentic"... what? Everything we ordered was pretty similar to what we ate in Korea... so yeah I think it's authentic. read more

Been coming here for 4+ years, last night was our last. Occasionally we bring 2 people who eat All U cant eat.. Its never been an issue for just 2 to eat AYCE BBQ while rest have our own meals. Went here for the good reviews and awards. Left feeling hungry even after doing all you can eat bbq and disappointing. It took 15 minutes for them to seat us, with the place practically empty, then after another 10 minutes they finally took our order and food started to slowly appear on our table. The only meat that was tender was the spicy pork. They didn't bring our soup until the very end the waiter noticed and asked if we even still wanted it. Compared to the other korean bbq places we frequent and love, I am sad we spent $45 for us to sit and be disappointed. Will not return. read more

I've been going here for years. It was good for a while. The last year has really taken a downfall which is very unfortunate. At first I always blamed it on them being busy but now it's to the point where the owner knows they are bust yet won't hire more help. A few months ago I went in at 8:30pm, knowing they close at 9 I was going to get it to go. The owner immediately told me they were not serving anybody anymore because they were tired. I had to practically beg to get a to go order. The next time I went service was really bad. They weren't even that busy but apparently too busy for one person to keep up. I finally broke down and tried again with my sister and her family. Again, terrible service. Our waters didn't get refilled one single time. We were never checked on once. It's really hard to eat spicy korean food without water. Got the usual "sorry we busy" as we left that I've heard numerous times. Being suddenly busy unexpectedly is one thing, refusing to hire enough help is another. Time and time again it gets old. I'll keep my business at the other Korean restaurant two blocks away. The customer is not prioritized in this establishment due to the rudeness and brash personality of their service. All we ask for is a little attention and timely service from this restaurant but it is evident that they will never fix this issue---we have been here at least five times, same problem. My husband, the kids and I went there for dinner and the gracious older lady I called Auntie led us to one of the booths with grill. She handed the menu but we already knew we had to try the all you can eat deal. She was a delightful lady! The other waitress sensed we're newbies, saved us from embarrassment and tuned on the grill herself. She even offered a coloring book and crayons for my seemingly-bored 5-year-old. Then she served several Korean side dishes which were good, the bean sprouts, cucumber and tofu kimchi were instant favorites. Auntie may have noticed that I liked them and offered to give me more. The meat came beautifully arranged in a large plate. We loved the bulgoki and the chicken, I ordered the shrimp at least 4 times. We were so full. They didn't charge us for the kids because they hardly ate. The food is wonderful, service is outstanding, and the ambiance is great, I like my restaurant quiet, where you can enjoy the aroma of awesome food being cooked. Came here for Mother's Day. Seriously the worst service we have EVER had. We had ordered one of the combination platters on the back of the menu where we cook it ourselves at the table because we thought it'd be a great first experience. The very first waitress was great and she was trying to explain to us what was on the menu and how it all worked. She then got interrupted by what seemed to be the manager. She then took our order and we pretty much didn't see our waitress after that. After trying to figure out who was our next waitress we had to waive a couple people down to get water. In the middle of cooking, the lady who interrupted our initial waitress came by to shut off the grill without saying anything. After we tried to figure out why it was off she came by with a new grill and told us she was changing it. We appreciated it but would have been nice for her to tell us. She then spilled my dad's water and didn't even apologize or clean it up. We waited awkwardly to get the check until my mom went up to pay the bill. There was honestly only five other families in the entire restaurant so there was no excuse for the lack of customer service that was delivered. All of the waitresses except our very first one seemed grumpy. I know it sucks that they have to work on Mothers Day but their behavior and service was unacceptable. We are definitely not going to return and I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant to anyone else. Food was great but not worth it. read more

I was always wishing for a Korean BBQ place in or around Lacey. All the other Korean restaurants are really good but, #1 Korean BBQ is the best in many different ways. For the first obvious reason is that you get the option of grilling your own food for Korean tacos. And if you like Kimchee, than this place by far has the best. They sell these plastic containers of them for $5. Its fun to bring some friends, grill some food, and enjoy drinks that the bartender James comes up with. I wish I had more to write but this is one of those places that your going to have to go check out for yourself. read more

Really awful. To start out--the menu is really confusing (you have to have 2 ppl order the BBQ to sit at a booth). Service was really terrible, especially one of the waitresses that didn't give her name. After having the menu explained to us we ordered a skillet (the LA Gulbi) and the chicken bimitmap bowl. The sides were pretty spicy or bland. The meat was extremely greasy and had the "dirty grill" cooked on grease and had a small amount of flavor. The chicken bowl was very very bland, honestly everything in the bowl tasted the exact same. The sauce they gave for the bowl was unbelievably hot (and I love spicy Mexican food). We live in Seattle and we don't typically make it down this way, but on a recent trip back from Portland, we decided to stop here instead of sitting in the typical Nisqually I-5 NB traffic. Best decision ever! We chose a various meat platter enough for the 6 people party. Loved the meat BBQ, and my wife enjoyed the bean paste soup. Kids loved the thin beef brisket especially. The owners were very gracious and stopped by continuously to check up on us. Whenever we pass through this area, we will definitely stop by. read more
