I approved the work and was assured there was no longer a leak. Two weeks later our yard service once again texted to note water bubbling from a cracked sprinkler valve -- the valves were connected to the pipe that Desert Water had replaced. I called Desert water, who stated they do not work on sprinkler systems. I had my yard service replace the cracked valve. Here's the rub: It seems very likely Desert Water's activity caused the valve to crack, or at minimum did not note it was leaking during their visit. I had quite a high water bill because of this.

He had me go to Lowes (online) and order the replacement unit, so I wasn't paying a markup from the installer. He picked up the unit from Lowes and just charged for the install. The advantage in this is you can chose the unit you want by quality and price. Units with longer warranties will cost more, probable between 6 to 12 years, so you get to decide what best for you without a installer charging a big markup. I was able to was my military discount for 10 % off. Another advantage is you are the one purchasing the unit. If there is a problem with the unit in the future you can go back to the manufacturer or Lowes (who I have found to be very good at backing up their sales). If your installer provides the unit he may not be in business in 9 to 10 years. Install was completed quickly. I had three other quotes before calling Gabe. Working with One Shot was 20% less then the next lowest bid and half the price of the highest bid. Will use them again for any plumbing issues.

Only after responding to my husband did he finally text me back--an hour after he was supposed to arrive--saying he had been injured on a previous job and wouldn't be available until Wednesday. I understand that injuries and unexpected situations can happen.
