not too shabby...i always stop by 101 cafe when craving some decent taiwanese food when i'm lazy and don't want to drive all the way to rowland and eat at some packed restaurant. i believe this place used to be in hong kong plaza, but it closed down. i had the beef noodle soup, and was quite good. they gave me a pretty generous amount of vegetables in addition to the very soft beef and hand made noodles. not bad! although i've gotten some of their rice dishes that weren't on par and too oily if i recall correctly. what i thought was a bit of a let down was the atmosphere. almost every single time i've been here, the place is DEAD empty, which is kinda sad. this is how my mom and i know the manager, who is extremely nice btw. also, outside, there are a bunch of benches and teeny boppers hang out there. all in all, decent food. read more

I don't know if it's the style of preparation but I was expecting the typical light brown colored noodles but what I got was white in color. This place was terrible. We decided to go here because our first choice was closed. We've gone to other 101 Cafes in the other surrounding cities, but this one was bad. Their service was slow and unresponsive. Their food was small in the respects of how much it costs. The taste of the food of one of our dishes (I know the name of the dish in Taiwanese but don't know the name in English) was very bland and didn't taste fresh. This place really puts a shame in the brand name of this chain restaurant. I will NEVER go back here again. Might try the place NEXT to this place, but I will never go here again. read more

The food is delicious, but the service is terrible and slow. Some of our dishes (appetizers, mind you) never came out despite repeated inquiries and the place wasn't even busy. I happened to find this place after shopping at H mart and decided to give a try. The first three dishes I ordered were okay. After a while the meat rice bun (肉粽) was served. The smell was so strong so you know it's rotten. When I told the owner the food is bad, they weren't very surprised. The waitress came to smell the bun then took it away. They apologized to me afterwards but don't seem worried about why their food is not fresh. It's not only the bad food makes me sick but also their careless attitude to customers' health really upset me. This place will be off my list for good. read more

Went to 101 Cafe for lunch. Had their pork potage noodle lunch combination. Was served a bowl with noodle and soup ONLY. Informed the waiter that the bowl had no pork potage as ordered. He offered no explanation/apology and promptly came back with 3 small pieces of meat, which is a drastic decrease from the other times I have ordered pork potage noodle from 101 Cafe. Their food portion is already small for the price in general. I understand they need to make a profit. But this is beyond ridiculous. read more

101 Cafe is a decent Taiwanese joint with reasonable quality and prices on pork chop noodles and fried dumplings, which are enough to be satisfying and edible meals. It is located in a strip mall anchored by tenants H-Mart and the Auto Club office. read more

I come here about once a week because my son loves their fried rice and iced tea. Their lunch specials are an awesome deal and comes with an entree, soup, appetizer, and drink for a bargain price of $7.99. The restaurant has authentic Taiwanese food like oyster egg pancakes, stir fry noodles, and even clam soup. The decor is lacking, but the food is pretty tasty. My favorite dish at the resturant is the fried pork chop on rice, which is their most popular dish and classic taiwanese dish. It's a piece of battered and fried pork with 1 egg, a piece of tofu, some veggies, and rice with a meat sauce. One time I made the mistake of order "potage" which is a thick viscous soup with bits of meat, whichever one you chose, like fish. If you're not Taiwanese and know what this is, you SHOULD NOT order it. It's strange-tasting, sweet and salty, and is essentially a thick but clear soup. This place is very "Taiwanese", most of the servers only speak Chinese and have a basic understanding of English. Which isn't really their fault because this resturant is catered to the hardcore Taiwanese people. Overall this is a good place for lunch. The dishes are all areound $5 or $6 and you get alot of food, usually with rice. They also have a stamp card, so if you eat there a certain number of times, you get a free meal read more

Over priced. The food comes in very small portion. I ordered a bowl of dry noddle and I finished it like in 7 bites. It only had an egg in it and costs around $5. There are much better place to go for chinese food than here. If you like to pay big money for small portion of food, come here. If not, go else where like me! read more

The food is average, but it's the closest "Taiwanese" restaurant to where I work so I don't have much of a choice. The service is inconsistent and so is the food. I always order food to-go (I call it in) and once found that my soup noodle had NO SALT whatsoever, another time I brought the food back to my office only to find that they didn't give me any chopsticks or spoons to eat the noodle with. The owner is a Taiwanese lady who seems a bit rude. I went in once to place an order and they were a bit busy. There were several customers standing around the cash register, waiting to place their order. They were busy so the owner and another server were both taking orders at the same time. The owner asked the server to take my order (which was really just hand writing it down) then she herself took another guy's order who came after me. But get this, she went ahead and inputted that guy's order AHEAD of mine even though he came AFTER me. Seriously what the hell. There was this other time I went in to place the order and I guess the owner was waiting for her husband to come back to take over her shift but he was late so she was all moody and pissy. She completely ignored me and was just in her own little world and openly complaining about her husband. RUDE AND ANNOYING. read more

I came here with a friend to grab some lunch. Everything went well until they forgot to make my order. My friend was pretty much done with his food before they realized it. After a half an hour wait they came with out with my order which was half there. They put the plate in front of me explaining they ran out of fish and will be giving me some pork chop to replace the missing pieces of fish. Really? I would at least expect them to come out and tell me if I wanted an order of something else instead of putting me a half ass place of food in front of me when I'm starving. By the way, the fish they gave me seemed to me like fish scraps battered and fried. It smelled and tasted rotten. Maybe it was a bad day? Who knows. They didn't even offer me a discount or to comp my meal. The rotten fish taste is lingering in my mouth which is gross. I'm never going back. read more

Food is terrible. Only been to this location once and will never go back. The chinese ladies that works there is beyond rude and lacks manners. Throws the menu on my table and one of them also fell off the table. Haven't experience anything worse. I asked for less oil for my dishes and they came out soaked with oil... They think that because I'm Japanese they can talk trash behind my back, but little do they know that I'm half Taiwanese, so I do understand mandarin. I tried to order a boba milk tea here and they wouldn't sell it to me first because they wouldn't accept the same card twice, and then because the order wasn't over $15. However, I just purchased two other entrees 10 minutes before, which made the total well over $15. They didn't offer to refund me for the first purchase in order to sell me the Novak milk tea along with the entrees. These are not customer focused people. The owner should consider better training. They actually hassled a lady that came in with a little girl, they kept yelling at her bathrooms for customer only and she kept telling them they wanted to eat, they finally left. The fried squid was extremely extremely bland and dry. The squid was barely chewable and the fried part was soft. After I finished, there 1/3 the plate consisted of dried crumbs of fried dough that wasn't even seasoned well.
