Brine - Hot New York chicken sandwich

I've heard great things about this place from a friend, and it did not disappoint! I decided to go…read morefor the 53rd STREET BOWL, which features signature pulled chicken, brown rice, a mix of kale and romaine, pickled red onions, cucumbers, chives, and a drizzle of white sauce. It was delicious! The pulled chicken was flavorful, and the pickled onions and cucumbers added a perfect crunch and zest that complemented the brown rice and kale beautifully. I chose to order directly from the staff instead of using the kiosks since it was my first visit, and I'm glad I did! They were incredibly friendly and helpful, even wiping down the outdoor tables for me. The prices are pretty standard for a fast-casual spot.

My husband and I stopped into Brine because we'd never seen one before. This is apparently one of…read moretwo locations, with the other being in New York City. Their tag line of "Eat Juicy Chicken" compelled us in. Unfortunately, our first time was a bit of a flop. First, the positives. Placing your order is a cinch, either with one of many kiosks or with the folks at the counter. We opted for the latter since it was our first visit and we were paying with cash. Service at the counter was warm and friendly. While waiting for our meal, we also took notice of the wide array of pumps by the drink dispenser. They're all free sauces you can get to dress up your meal. But that was precisely where things kind of went meh. My husband's boneless breast meal was heavily sauced and rendered the whole thing a little too salty. My chicken Caesar salad was just fine, but I craved more texture (some croutons would've killed). I keep comparing our ho-hum experience to others who've raved about their meals here, and I think our mistake was two-fold: 1) We didn't order a chicken sandwich. I should've known better - when most of the signature items on a menu gravitate toward one type of item, it's a restaurant's way of hinting at their strengths. Opting to order a salad and a grilled chicken at a fried chicken place was a bad start. Learn from my mistakes. 2) We paired a saucy chicken with saucy sides. All three items in my husband's order - the meat, the Brussel sprouts, and the potatoes - were generously drizzled with a sauce. It's no wonder our taste buds breathed a sigh of relief whenever we had a bite of undressed crinkle cut fries; we were assaulting our mouths with salt and flavor. If you're a saucy person, have at it ; otherwise, I'd recommend creating a more balanced plate and ordering a few things without sauce so you can appreciate the cooking. Because in my heart of hearts, I believe items are well-prepared here; they're just doused in too much covering to be appreciated.

THE GOOD ----------------…read more+ Solid Korean Fried Chicken. Was it the best I ever had? No. But it was pretty good still. ++++ Kalbi Chicken and Soy Garlic Fried Chicken were good. A bit too saucy for my liking for Korean Fried Chicken, but had good flavor to them. ++++ Don Katsu was also pretty good - very crispy pork cutlet and it came with a soup, cole slaw and white rice. + It's tight around the entrance and cashier, but there are a few decent size tables inside the dining area to the left. + The entire staff were suppppper friendly to our family and the service was excellent. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - The private parking lot is a bit tight as there are only 3 parking spaces for the restaurant. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = For the Fried Chicken entrees, a small order of drumsticks consist of 5 pieces.

Right in front of the entrance they have the register counter. On the left is the dining area. Loved the dining area, specially the beautiful decoration with instant noodles on the wall. My order was ready per the estimated time given. The associate handed me the wings and I was on my way. The wings were delicious. They were big, moist inside and had perfect crispy layer mixed with the Galbi sauce. Will be getting more wings from them for sure.

I like this place a lot, it's called, "Cosmo's Salumeria" in Hackensack, NJ and I've been wanting…read moreto try this place for at least a year because it was ranked in the top 25 by The Star Ledger. This day I said, "Today is the day and I'm getting a freaking sandwich from this joint.", so I rode my road bike here and it was a good 25 minute bike ride to get there. But when I finally got there it was surprisingly closed. I was confused because Yelp says they open at 8am and here I was there at 8:30 am and closed. I was super disappointed and was like ok today isn't the day I'm getting this sandwich but hey at least I got a nice workout getting here and back. Just when I was about to leave something told me to call and lo and behold Cosmo answered. He said they open at 9am and that he was making fresh mozzarella before they opened for the day. I told him on Yelp it says your open at 8 am and he said Yelp makes up their own hours but for me to wait and he'll make me the sandwich and it should be ready in 10 minutes. Awesome and he did do the selection #1 sandwich in 10 min and all before he was officially opened for me consisting of sopp, capp, salami, ham, fresh mozz, sharp provolone, sweet peppers and LTO. That was awesome customer service to me. So as I went inside to pay, he told me $10. In my mind,"I'm like seriously for this heavy sandwich I thought it would be at least $12. What a great deal" I thought. I paid and thanked him and rode my bike home burning off some calories before putting them back with this sandwich . It is a pretty good sandwich and for the price you would pay at a crappy Subway place. I can see why this place is popular and will be back for more sandwiches. Highly recommend as a good value sub place for the quality of ingredients you get at a great price. You're welcome and remember be nice to each other.
