It was delicious! The pulled chicken was flavorful, and the pickled onions and cucumbers added a perfect crunch and zest that complemented the brown rice and kale beautifully. My husband and I stopped into Brine because we'd never seen one before. This is apparently one of two locations, with the other being in New York City. Their tag line of "Eat Juicy Chicken" compelled us in. Unfortunately, our first time was a bit of a flop. First, the positives. Placing your order is a cinch, either with one of many kiosks or with the folks at the counter. We opted for the latter since it was our first visit and we were paying with cash. Service at the counter was warm and friendly. While waiting for our meal, we also took notice of the wide array of pumps by the drink dispenser. They're all free sauces you can get to dress up your meal. But that was precisely where things kind of went meh. My husband's boneless breast meal was heavily sauced and rendered the whole thing a little too salty. My chicken Caesar salad was just fine, but I craved more texture (some croutons would've killed). I keep comparing our ho-hum experience to others who've raved about their meals here, and I think our mistake was two-fold: 1) We didn't order a chicken sandwich. I should've known better - when most of the signature items on a menu gravitate toward one type of item, it's a restaurant's way of hinting at their strengths. Opting to order a salad and a grilled chicken at a fried chicken place was a bad start. Learn from my mistakes. 2) We paired a saucy chicken with saucy sides. All three items in my husband's order - the meat, the Brussel sprouts, and the potatoes - were generously drizzled with a sauce. It's no wonder our taste buds breathed a sigh of relief whenever we had a bite of undressed crinkle cut fries; we were assaulting our mouths with salt and flavor. If you're a saucy person, have at it ; otherwise, I'd recommend creating a more balanced plate and ordering a few things without sauce so you can appreciate the cooking. I had lunch from Brine at the Fairlawn Promenade this week. I placed a pickup order online from their website (btw, it lets you pay through Express Toast if you have it). The Umami Chicken Sandwich was really good and hit the spot! When I picked up, I easily found parking in the promenade's plaza lot. The staffer inside greeted me when I walked inside and was friendly. He asked for my name, found my order on the shelf, and then handed the bag to me and told me to have a good day. Been here multiple times and it is so filling and worth your money if youre looking for a healthier option. Their chicken quarter thigh is HUGE and seasoned perfectly. The meat is so tender and doesnt need any additional sauce. I did also try the half chicken option that included breast meat and that was too dry for me. I also enjoyed their MSG flavored chicken tenders. Had the perfect spice kick and the green onions on top made it even better. The one thing im not huge on is their sides. Doesnt seem like as much love is put into them. Sometimes the rice tastes and feels not as fresh, and the side salads arent my favorite flavor wise. Love this spot, I've been here a few times now and the food is always delicious. Odd that its typically empty when I visit. I think the food is great, prices are a little high but that's expected at this point. Everything is clean and nice, really no issues. I wanted to stop by since I was in the area and had no intention of finishing what I ordered because I had dinner plans. Little did I know I would order a sandwich and finish it because it was too good. I ordered the MSG and it was great! A little spicy but more like a Korean style flavor. But note it's not a whole chicken on a bun but rather two thick tenders on a bun. So instead it really should be called a tender sandwich. I do think the bun to meat ratio could be better. You definitely need a thicker bigger bun. So I cannot give this a perfect 10/10 but rather a 9/10 which is still very solid. I would even say it's the best chicken sandwich I had on the East coast so far. Order the spiced fries as a side. The fries were amazing paired with the sauces. Favorite fries so far. Loved the thigh and MSG sandwich. Chicken ate cooked so nicely, moist and juicy. MSG has the perfect layer of chili sauce to make the sandwich very enticing. The restaurant has a very modern look. Not a bad place to try, the chicken tasted fresh and the sauce was flavorful. I ordered the Umami chicken "sandwich" and spiced fries, with 2 extremely small sauce cups. The pictures in the restaurant and online show actual normal sized chicken sandwiches but after opening the box I couldnt believe this order was $18....Its not a sandwich at all, it is more of a slider. The sauce cups pictured on the restaurant order screens are also 3x the size so dont waste your money on them either. The aïoli sauce that is supposed to be included w fries was forgotten with my order. Its not that the food was bad, but there is blatent mismarketing of their items. Ok I'd like to start by saying this is more than just a "chicken place". I say that because they do so much with the bird that being considered a mere "chicken place" just doesn't do them menu justice. From the bowls to the salads and glorious fried chicken sandwiches (and more so the way they remix each sandwich), is just impressive to say the least. Today I had the spicy chicken salad, which caught me by surprise! I say this because, I welcome spice; to the umpteenth power, but this caught me by surprise. Both the chicken and the spicy fried onions came to play, and in a major way. Yet they weren't just hot but flavorful at the same time. The Cole slaw added a nice texture of crunch and coolness to calm each bite, and the raw kale also acted as a life raft in the sea of heat I found myself in; especially once I added the extra hot sauce that accompanied the dish. Overall it was a pleasant experience. Not only was the staff super friendly, inside of this spot was immaculate; from the touch screen order displays, to the seating area, and even the bathroom (I notice small things like this). My second time at Brine and I felt it was time to give a review. I can honestly say I feel like I had a trip to FLAVOR town. Finally a chicken restaurant that took me by surprise. I have not had good experiences recently. I ordered the half chicken sauce on the side with hot fries and beet salad. The fries are hot with a layer of flavors, the beet salad good. The chicken was marinated , moist , tender and very flavorful like going to flavor town. I truly enjoyed this meal and do not forget the chili sauce, I mixed it with the buttermilk sauce. I'm only basing my rating on my experience through ClassPass and this restaurant. I found Brine on my ClassPass app, and I didn't know ClassPass offered food options for pick up. Every item on the app costed 6 credits; I was a bit hesitant of ordering a dessert item vs. a sandwich item; in reality, this sandwich item would cost way more than the dessert item. Nevertheless, I ordered the Honey Roasted Garlic Caesar Salad, the New York Hot, the "The Sandwich," the 53rd Street Bowl, the Chicken Thigh Combo, and the Brine Tart. When I arrived at the restaurant on time, they were surprised to hear I was there to pick up a order. They had nothing in their system to display, I showed them my phone and how I had already paid for the items with credits. Still seemingly in disbelief, they eventually took all the items from my order and made them to order. The interior of the restaurant is very clean, and loved the pops of greenery. Parking was east outside of the restaurant. When the food was ready, easily picked up from the window. Staff apologized for the inconvenience. When we got home, we noticed the Chicken Thigh Combo was not in the bag, a failure on both parties to not check our bags thoroughly before leaving the restaurant. The best item in the bag that I did receive were the New York Hot chicken sandwich and fries; super moist and flavorful. The caesar salad was flavorful, but I finished it in like 3-4 bites; not enough greens. The Brine tart was too dry; wouldn't recommend. After wanting to try this place for a few months, I finally got around to eating at Brine the other night for dinner. My boyfriend and I decided to dine in here, wanting to have the full experience. We ordered the Smokey Umami Chicken Sandwich with a side of sweet potatoes & the MSG Chicken Sandwich with a side of roasted beets. My first bite was of the sweet potatoes which were tangy & flavorful but disappointingly served luke warm. This was especially a bummer because one of the reasons we had opted for dine in eating was to enjoy our food served hot & fresh. With that being said, the chicken sandwiches were the great redeemer here, and I would rate them at a 10 out of 10. As much as I enjoyed the MSG, the Smoky Umami was the real winner for me. Bun was soft, chicken was cooked perfectly - nice crunch on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside - all topped off with that smoky sauce, culminating into fried chicken sandwich perfection.
