Absolutely the best local bakery here in the South Bay. I have been going here for as long as I can remember. It is owned by a friendly couple where they are also involved in the kitchen. My favorite pastry to get here is the crab bun. The bread itself is on the sweeter side and the crab has a nice taste to it with a subtle side. My go to sandwich is either the cold cuts or the pork floss sandwich. All of these food are at a reasonable price. You do need to spend $10 to use card or else it is cash. A cold dessert I love here is the vanilla cream puff. It has a nice creamy vanilla taste and the outside is still has a crunch to it without being soggy. Recently, they renovated the inside, so it definitely looks so much nicer now. This place will always have a special place in a heart and I will always come here for a quick bite to eat. read more

This place is honestly easy to miss because it's right next to Duc Huong, but it's definitely worth trying. The prices are super amazing for the quality, especially for the banh mi. The sandwiches are really big, filling, and still super cheap compared to a lot of other places. The only sad thing is I don't think they have crispy pork belly banh mi, which I would love to try if they ever add it. I'm never around McKee so I wasn't familiar with 111 Bakery. Their prices are really affordable! They sell banh mi, a variety of baked goods, and beverages. The full sized banh mi are big and generously filled. They also offer mini sizes if you want a smaller banh mi. I've tried their banh mi cha bong ga, dac biet, and thit nuong. The cha bong ga and dac biet banh mi were good, I particularly liked the dac biet with its combination of meats. I was disappointed with the thit nuong, I thought it was a bit too sweet. The bread is baked in house and a perfectly good vessel for all the fixings. I also tried their cheese roll which was similar to a Porto's cheese roll, but at least twice as big and less sweet. I liked the coarse sugar on the outside and the vanilla flavor in the filling. It was a nice little treat and only $2.50! I would definitely come back to 111 Bakery! The banh mi cha bong ga and dac biet are worthy of a return trip, plus I'd like to try their other pastry case offerings and moon cakes when they're available. The shop is clean and air conditioned. It has been years since I've stepped foot into 111 Bakery. Since I was in the complex, my guy was open to seeing what they had to offer. I did a quick walkthrough and just had to have the pate chaud. While this was not the worst, it was 100% the most oily pate chaud I have ever ever EVER had. It literally felt like you were drinking oil!!! Each bite left puddle running in your mouth. How unfortunate because the filling was really flavorful and greatly enjoyed. 2 stars for this particular item but 1 additional star for the overall business because the bakery is clean and the pastry offerings look pretty good. I don't exactly know when the one eleven was established in this location, but I can tell with the dated fixtures, that they have been here a while. But, and that's a very enthusiastic but. Don't let the lack of photo opportunities discourage you from trying out this bakery. Essential functionality is the ambiance one feels upon entering the shop. Always a safe indicator is people in line and a busy crew. Even with the bustling weekend lunch rush, we were out within 20 minutes. A great tip is knowing what to order to get a faster in & out experience. I had to check out the pastries on hand to figure out which to stuff in our box while my wife was queueing. Our stash of baked carbs was a win. Prices at an average of $2/item is a big "yes please" for us considering that this bakeshop was in San Jose. The Guava Turnover, Pan au Chocolat, Almond Croissant, Crab Flake Bun, Chicken Bun and Ube Cake (topped with coconut flakes) are definitely our favorites. This was our second time here, so it took us this long to figure out that they sold bánh mì and steamed pork buns also. Well, those will definitely be on our list when we return in 2024. read more

Came by on a fairly busy Saturday. We got bbq pork buns, guava twist, and steamed bbq pork bun. The bbq pork buns were pretty good! We also got the bbq pork banh mi which was amazing. It was $6.50 for a regular baguette size (mini size available too for $3.50). The bread had a slight crisp but was also soft (perfect texture in my opinion and doesn't cut your mouth lol), and the meat was delicious. Banh mi took about 10 mins to get ready. Super good deal on the banh mi and better than a lot of other banh mi spots I've had! Unfortunately they were out of the pate chaud by the time we arrived, which was around 1pm. I tried the cream cheese roll, pate chaud, custard bun, and meat pork bun. This bakery is a hidden gem in East San Jose but I believe it's known for their meat pork buns and rolls. After trying these pastries, I can definitely see why it's a signature item! The store itself is quite small so please be patient with the line. In the morning, it can be busy since people tend to tune in at earlier times to get the freshest pastries. Some items might be sold out later in the day. What particularly stood out to me was the affordability and quality of the food. Each item was fairly priced with most products ranging between $2-$5. And they definitely do not skimp out on the filling! The pate chaud was my personal favorite. It came out nice and warm with plenty of pate and meat paired with the flaky coating. Custard bun exceeded my expectations as well with a strong egg flavor for the custard. Most of their breads are doughy and soft. I noticed that they have drinks here too such as milk teas and Vietnamese coffee for only $5. I think it's hard to find prices like that nowadays so I was a little surprised. I've been coming here for years now for their banh mi, and lately I've been really hooked on the pastries here. I used to go grab a banh mi here after school, back when Duc Huong wasn't their neighbor, and it was always solid for the price point. But personally, I do agree with the general consensus that Duc Huong's banh mi is much better though. So, how is it that this place is still in business when their next-door neighbor is such tough competition? Well, 111 over the years has revamped their interior to be more clean/bright, and menu to add a bunch of pastries. I love the large variety and it really reminds me of more mainstream bakeries like 85C and Paris Baguette, while still keeping the charm of a small business. The pricing is ridiculously affordable and the quality of the pastries is pretty good. Most of the items in the front display case are $2.50 and there's a few larger ones that are $4.50. Seriously, where else can you find a deal like that these days? A couple of items I like the most here are the banh bao nuong (baked pork bun) and the crab bun. I brought some to share at work and also some to a picnic and it was enjoyed by everyone. They are seriously a local gem-- filling, cheap, and yummy. I think that deserves 5 stars from me. I've gone by to this place multiple times for their pate chaud and it never misses. The crust is flaky, filling is flavorful, great portion of meat. I like to order the combination sandwich from this place because it's good with the shredded pork skin, but today they added the chicken floss in the sandwich & it made the sandwich tasted like it had way too much going on. Location: There is lots of parking and it's in the same plaza as the 24 hour fitness. It's also right next to the legendary Duc Huong sandwiches. Despite that, 111 is doing very well. Service: Quick service. Walk in, tell the ladies your order, pay, and then wait for them to call your number. There's enough space in the bakery to stand and wait, but sometimes it gets crowded and you would be more comfortable waiting outside. Food: our go-to for banh mi. We used to go to banh mi oven but they kept raising their prices, and their quality has gone down. Duc Huong is good but 111 has better value and is similar in quality. My favorite banh mi here is the chicken. I also like that they have a great selection of pastries. For the love of...pate chaud! I for one have not been a fan of pate chaud my whole life until you guessed it, 111 Bakery. Most of the ones I've tried before had a questionable flavor profile inside and the outside (which is supposed to be flaky) was mediocre. My best friend had brought some pate chaud to a Halloween party last year and it was an instant hit! It was flaky AF on the outside (as it should be) and tasty as can be on the inside. I knew I finally found, "the one". Lol I was craving for this recently and tried my hand at going to 111 Bakery while I was in the area but no dice. Going at close to 1PM in the afternoon was a risk because they sell out fast and of course they did by the time I got there. I went back a second time in-person and got my greedy hands on some pate chaud along with their grilled pork Banh Mi, baked pork bun, and a BBQ pork bun. I doubt I'm the first to say their Banh Mi bread to filling ratio is quite even. And, the bread is one of the better Banh Mi breads I've had. I would hope that would be the case since it is a bakery after all. It's a shame they're located right next door to a popular Banh Mi joint which overshadows the Vietnamese sandwiches sold here. The BBQ pork bun as you can see in my picture wasn't quite baked all the way on the outside when I cut it down the middle so that was a bit alarming and the filling wasn't as sweet like I'm used to tasting. The baked pork bun, however, was so good so I'd recommend to try that out too while you're there picking up your pate chaud and Banh Mi order. First time trying this bakery through door dash for some morning pastries. Very impressed with the quality and taste. Meat Pork Bun - 8.5/10, essentially a regular banh bao with standard filling, but a toasted outside bun gave it a nice texture contrast Pate Chaud - 9/10, very flaky and crispy outside with a subtle sweet and peppery meat filling Egg & Ham Bun - 9.5/10, surprisingly my favorite. On the outside it looks like typical ham and cheese bun, but once you take a bit you'll see that the egg was made tamago style that has a nice bounce fluff and flavor profile that pairs it well with the cheese and ham in it. (definitely recommend eating this warm for the best bite) Coconut Bun - 7.5/10, looks aesthetically pleasing, but the bite felt a bit underwhelming. Coconut filling/top tastes good and not overwhelmingly sweet, but the pastry itself I think could have had a bit more flakiness or crisp. After watching a show, she took us to this bakery/deli. I would say it's kind of a hole in a wall. It's not big and there's no dining. You just come in order what you want. I love going to there place because I know it's going to be good. We all got Bahn Mi sandwiches (I got the pork). I really loved the bread they used it looks big but was easy enough to stick your teeth in. Now, the pastry. I can't even begin to to tell you what each is called, you'll just to look at the pictures and take my word for it. The things we ordered were all really good. Came by early on a Saturday morning and the place has been completely renovated a far improvement with only one line and less confusion. Been craving for bánh mì chose #7 shredded chicken on a baguette with fresh herbs and pickled veggies, two pork bánh pate số and a cup of Vietnamese iced coffee (cà phê sữa pa) so refreshing not too sweet for a mere $5 cheaper than at a boba cafes. What I liked about this bakery is their display case of cakes, cookies, buns and various pastries so much cheaper than its competitors. So glad they're open at 6 in the morning whereas a lot of business are still closed avoid coming out here on the weekends worst in the afternoon. read more

Tried their #11 Combo and it was good. Today we ordered #13 Pastrami, #14 roast beef w/ bacon and #16 smoked ham w/ salami and all was so good and only $8 and it's as long as a subway footlong. You can't beat that price. It had gouda cheese, salad, red onions, tomatoes, banana peppers and dressing. Recommend to eat right away. Staff here are really friendly and they make affordable banh mi, especially having mini sizes for those who don't want to eat so much. There is a minimum spend for credit card so be aware of that - I think it was $10 minimum. Banh mi comes out in 10 min. They are located next to Duc Huong location but much shorter wait. Their shredded pork is unique here and the combo's flavors are solid. I think the bread is softer here so if you like crunchier bread, then Duc Huong would be the place to go. I haven't had the chance to try their pastries and desserts yet so I'll need to bite the bullet some time. read more

The ladies behind the counter friendly are hardworking and try to get orders out as quickly as possible though be prepared to wait a bit for your sandwich to be ready during busy lunch times on weekdays. Also, the bakery items come out of the oven fresh daily but not all items will be ready at opening or even 11am. On the the food. Bang for your buck! The full baguette sandwiches are huge and will surely leave you stuffed or comfortably full if shared with a friend. Best part about Banh Mi Sandwiches is the Pate and the Vietnamese Mayo. This store's front is actually a bakery which offers some really nice pastries that are worth the try.
