    Mad Chick
    Allie G.

I stopped into Mad Yolks on a Friday afternoon and found it mostly empty. The interior had a casual vibe, with lots of natural light, some indoor seating, and funky egg-themed decor. I ordered the Mad Chick and an iced Lilikoi Green Tea. Staff members were friendly and service was pretty fast! The Lilikoi Green Tea was delicious. The crunchy passionfuit seeds were awesome and the sweetness level wasn't overwhelming. I liked the Mad Chick, but can't say it was my favorite fried chicken sandwich of all time. It had a surprising kick to it and the breading on the chicken was a little thick for me. However, I did like the basil aoili and house-baked brioche bun. Would come back to try more items!

Was really looking forward to Mad Yolks opening around here, there was so much hype and it is so close by. First time we went I got the madchick- the eggs were soft and fluffy and the chicken was moist and flavorful. The brioche bun is also soft and fluffy, but a little on the sweet side. Second time I tried their version of a breakfast burrito. It's over $14, so I had high expectations. I can't say it wasn't good. Good ratio of egg, bacon, and avocado. Wished there had been more crispy potatoes, but overall it was tasty and the salsa added some flavor (though not heat). My only issue was the tortilla. It was way too soft and literally falling apart where it hadn't been grilled. I had half and I was full! Service is fine, food is a little slow to come out, but nothing that a little patience can't fix. We have only been twice for a couple of reasons. This place gets so cramped and crowded during the weekends, and it's on the higher end for casual take out food. If you are going during peak hours prepare to wait and be a little too close to everyone else waiting to get their hands on the delicious brunch options.

Came here on a weekday morning around 9am and it wasn't busy so I was able to order immediately. I got the classic and shroom sandwiches along with the dirty tots and a matcha latte. My total was $47 in the end. I would say both sandwiches were solid in terms of portion, but lacked flavor. The eggs were plentiful and fluffy and for the shroom one specifically, the mushrooms were tender and abundant as well. However, flavor wise I think both were quite bland and given the price point, $11+ per sandwich, I would've expected it to be a bit more flavorful. It genuinely didn't taste like they seasoned the eggs or anything. The dirty tots were worth the $7.50 though. The curry sauce was savory and went well with the soft and slightly crispy tots. The matcha latte was okay. Nothing that stood out about it that was particularly good nor bad. Service was swift and staff was nice! The shop itself is really clean and had a nice casual ambiance. This was my first time trying Mad Yolks and I think it was just an okay spot. Nothing I would really crave or go out of my way for.

I'm so happy that they opened this location AND it's not on the main Downtown Willow Glen area, which is great for parking! There's a few tables inside, but this is also pretty good as takeout. Food came out within 10 minutes on a Thursday at noon. My personal favorite is the MAD CHICK! The fried chicken is incredibly tender/juicy every!! single!! time!! The flavor is soooo well done too. If you love Taiwanese popcorn chicken, this sandwich is for you! A perfectly balanced sandwich. I loooove it. The matcha is quite popular here, and I find it to be pretty decent! The matcha is really sweet and not very earthy or fragrant. If you like a creamy dessert-like matcha, this is for you!

I'm not a big fan of breakfast, but this is the one place where I devour my meal in under a few minutes.... Not only are there sandwiches beyond delicious but their strawberry Matcha is my go to The only reason I take a star off of this is it is beyond crowded. I placed an order online and had to wait 45 minutes. It's also a very small location.

Breakfast sandwich heaven! Going to dive right into the mad chick because it was unreal, true perfection. It was so full of flavor, the chicken super juicy, and the thing was massive. We also got the b.a.e, which was just okay, but the mad chick being as good as it was totally made up for that. And of course what is a sandwich without chips/fries, or in this breakfast case hashbrowns or tots? They were hidden on the menu, but after we placed our order we discovered the tots so we went back up and ordered those. We came early on a Sunday morning, I was a little worried that it would be packed, but it wasn't too bad and we were able to snag one of the last tables. Seemed like a lot of people were picking up to-go orders vs dining in. We were between a lot of the sandwiches, so we'll definitely be coming back to try more, that spam one is calling my name.

I love this place. People are friendly and polite and the place is nice and clean. I ordered shroom and breakfast burrito. They tasted very similar. One was with tortilla while the other bun. The bun was softer and kind of sweet. The scramble egg was very moist and creamy. It came tasty mushroom. Very yummy. The strawberry matcha with oat milk was very good - right amount of sweetness and creamy. Overall very good experience.

Oh my gosh. So darn good. I had this a few weeks back and have been craving to go back. An egg sandwich made perfect!!! Yum! I had the egg and avocado on a gluten free roll. Forgot what it was called. Freaking Devine. Someone in my group ordered the chicken sandwich which was way too oily and was a mess to eat. Another person ordered the classic sandwich which was good. Super yum! Place is really cute and cozy! And yes, they are busy and for good reason to. Keep up the good work. Will be back. Thanks.

Nice Fluffy Egg Sandwiches. The Classic is for beginners. Do try the Dirty Tots with a fried egg & Japanese curry sauce. Quick service, Cute place.

I recently found this place for a quick lunch bite when I was in the area so I decided to stop by. We got the Mad Chick, Shrooms, and Dirty Tots. The mad chick was good, with a big piece of chicken but I was personally hoping for a bit more flavor so it fell slightly short. The Shrooms was also solid especially as a vegetarian option, but it was also pretty messy and difficult to eat as a lot of the insides fell out every time you took a bite. The dirty tots were very good though, they're loaded up with tons of toppings so I definitely enjoyed that. The service was also good and we got our food very quickly. Overall this was solid but I was hoping for a bit more to be honest, but I would also be willing to give them another chance.

Egg lovers have a lot of options. For me somehow the combination of the bread type and eggs didn't work. It had generously filled eggs and while I found it good I wasn't overly excited. Maybe I chose the wrong items on the menu. It is a popular spot and while it didn't work for me maybe it's just my individual taste.

Honestly a little let down with this one. There were some things I liked but some I didn't. For starters the shop was a little dirty and it was barely 9am, trash left on tables and some flies buzzing around. They weren't too busy either. The strawberry matcha was a little gritty and the strawberry puree was very jelly like and hard to mix so you essentially had to drink matcha with random chunks of strawberry. I had the B.A.E sandwich to eat. I did really like the bun which held up okay. The soft scramble was really nicely done also. The caramelized onions were a nice touch. I was disappointed in the amount of bacon, I had what seemed like half of one piece. Overall for the price I probably won't be trying again. My matcha and sandwich came out to $21.

After much hype, Mad Yolks wasn't what I expected sadly. Ordered lunch for 5 - most of us got the Classic Egg Sandwich. Though it says spicy aioli, don't worry it's not that spicy. It was a super creamy and soft scrambled egg on a big brioche bun. Very decadent and dripping out of the bun (get a spoon). I'm not much for creamy... Still yummy but felt like a soggy burger. The soft egg could have had more salt or more flavor? Next time, I'll order something more meaty inside to offset the super soft egg. Tater tots were part of their Valentines special but tasted cold and day old. You can see the inconsistency- some looked and tasted extra dried out. Wouldn't recommend. Matcha latte was decent and tasted high quality. Note: there's no sugar in it so if you like it on the sweeter side, ask for sweetener. There's seating inside but it was pretty crowded. Parking available but looked crowded. Not to worry- turnover is fast. Lots of big groups so we did takeout. Food and drinks came out quick though!

They had some Fanime specials for the con (katsu and egg salad sandwiches, spam musubi), seasonal drinks, of course coffees and teas, and non caffeinated drinks, as well as some food too (heated up pastries, both sweet and savory). There's a restroom with a code and a couple seats and tables with outlets to charge your devices. Service was welcoming and efficient especially after the crowds started to pick up. I got the: 1) Egg Salad Sando: -You can tell these were handmade in store. They had cute washi tape to hold the packaging together. -Solid egg salad sandwich. Slightly sweet white bread and generous amount of egg salad inside the sandwich. Creamy mayo taste that isn't too sour or tart, lots of egg in it. Perfect for an anime con next door. 2) Cappuccino: -I got this no sugar and sugar free and it came out with some pretty latte art. I thought it was mostly ok and boyfriend thought so too, but after several sips and when it was too late since we really had to get to the con, it just became too disgustingly sweet for him and he had to throw it away. 3) Yuzu Fresh Fruit Sparkler: -Yuzu puree with sparkling soda water. -Refreshing and not bad, but even after mixing this was a bit sweeter than what I would have liked and again, in our rush to leave, we couldn't really get this adjusted. I ended up pouring most of it in a water bottle to enjoy later and put in my bag. But ended up not finishing it in the end. Maybe next year I'll try again or just stick to the food stuffs.

Filipino Grand Slam $24 We ordered the amazing grand slam with Filipino longanisa, on the side there was garlic rice, fried eggs, and decorated with spiced vinegar. Pipikaula Ribs $32 The other main course we got the smoked pipikaula ribs, with kimchi fried rice, sunny eggs, and sprinkled scallion on the top. Chilaquiles $29 Another main course we had was the confit duck leg, mole rojo on the side. And on top there were feta and cilantro sauce dressing and a sunny side up egg on top. Caesar with trout $26 We also got a Caesar salad made with bibb & gem, Parmigiano Reggiano, herbed crouton, and boquerones. There was an option to include chicken or trout as the protein. When walking, we missed the restaurant initially because this place is clearly, a hidden gem, especially being hidden along the nightclub strip. We were blown away by the curated vibes. From the thoughtful decor to The Office being projected on the wall. It felt hip, fresh and refined. We decided to craft our own drinks - Arnold Palmers, his favorite. But they only had sparkling lemonade, which actually made it even better. We shared a salad that had some cooked pears and squash alongside the greens, walnuts, cranberries and blue cheese. I do feel like the cooked sweet elements overpowered the salad with their sweetness and textures a bit. Wondering if a refreshing pear for crunch or more dressing could have brightened it up and provided a salty, sweet balance. I ordered the Short Ribs with a parsnip purée and roasted carrots and it did not disappoint. Everything paired beautifully together, perfectly salted and cooked. I finished the entire plate. Dad got the Pork Chop and while it was overcooked, he loved the flavors happening in the dish and was pleasantly surprised by the refreshing treatment of the kale. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Overall a great experience. We would definitely come back!

Making it easy to try multiple plates and really get your inner Foodie on. We started with the Seasonal Banana Pancakes with crushed walnuts and cinnamon maple syrup. Inside the pancakes were fresh bananas and the walnuts were crushed very small but added a great texture. Moving on to the Chicago Steak sandwich don't get confused but in Chicago they refer to Roast Beef as steak. The Au Jus dip was very flavorful without being a salt bomb. For the price and quality, I will not be returning and would not recommend this place.
