Never have I ever heard about this bakery until we were waiting at Duc Huong for our sandwiches. We noticed all the different types of buns that was on display so decided to go inside to take a look. Decided to order the Char Siu Bun and it was the best bun I've ever had. It was warm and extremely savory! I also picked up a Pandan Coconut Hawaiian Sweet Rolls and it was just as good as it looked. A typical sweet roll with a hint of coconut and Pandan flavor. Liked that it was fluffy. So glad we stumbled upon this bakery because we wouldn't have been able to experience the delicious bun and sweet roll. Pineapple bun wasn't like Cantonese pineapple bun. Topping tastes like it but when you bite into it. It's like a loaf of bread. The size is smaller which makes it expensive. A visitor from my office gave us pate chard and pork & egg bun which I thought was nice. I didn't get the chance to ask where. I'm only aware that he lived in East San Jose. I don't recommend this bakery. I had heard so many good reviews, but this was genuinely the worst bakery I've been to. The customer service was rude, the staff only thanked customers who weren't Asian, which was very odd considering Asian customers are quite literally the ones giving them the most business. The steamed banh bao was also terrible. The dough was about 3 inches thick, extremely dry, and the meat filling inside was dry as well. Overall, a very disappointing experience. read more

They're bacon egg croissant is sooo good. I haven't found a western sandwich that's cheap and under 9 dollars but this bakery as it! I'm so happy. The only complaint is that the onions needs to be washed or something. It leaves a bitter taste and stank my mouth. Thats why I knocked a star off. Other than that, friendly service and quick. A lot of workers here. It's a small place but they organized the queue. It may have taken 15 minutes to get three of the bánh mí. I would still go here and handicapped parking is nearby. They need a better system when it comes to ordering or maybe they just need some sense of urgency because they always look confused and take their time assisting the customers. Sign says "order here" but you're standing there looking like a lost puppy while they are just behind the counter talking among themselves or looking at you. Maybe the pick up sign should be at the register and the order here sign can be right where you enter because they all seem lost! The buns here are decent when it's fresh and hot. Their char siu buns is good and filled with a lot of meat. Everything else is mid. It's cold, not as fresh, and honestly the quality seem to be a hit and miss. This is the second time I came for the pastries because I wanted to like this place. When I'm next door waiting on my sandwich at Duc Huong I come here. Honestly, the pastries taste so dry. I got the the durian puff pastry, sounds so delicious because I'm a big fan of durian. I have to say it taste so artificial and it leaves an after taste in your mouth. Yuck! This is my second time trying it and both times it tastes awful! I'm really surprised they have such rave reviews for their pastries and not one thing I've ordered was amazing. While the matcha cookie is the only decent thing here. Their croissants and guava pastry is so dry and not a lot of guava but still tasted really artificial, not homemade by any means. I tried this place since my friend really likes the Xiu Mai (meatball) and PLEASE if you are ever willing to try something other than duc huong please try the meatball Banh mi it is so good tender and bread is nice and crispy outside fluffy inside all the ingredients are fresh but I'm just so sad that I couldn't give it a 5 star due to the Dac Biet not being that good. They added pork floss which I know a lot of places do but how they added it made it have a texture of having a wet paper in your Banh mi which kinda threw me off and also it had a stronger flavor than the other ingredients so it covered it. I don't know if it's the brand of the pork floss they use or it might be old, JUST A GUESS DONT ACCUSE THEM OF ANYTHING. I had never frequented this bakery until after their remodel a few years back, and I am sad to have had many missed years of the spicy pork floss toasts and a very creamy decadent pate. The pate is $6 for a half pound tub, and the toasts run around ~$10ish. However, I have visited a few times and the toasts were not available and was told it would be maybe 2-3 days later that they would be available. I have tried some of the baked goods and the meat bun and crab bun are pretty tasty. I did not like as much the sweet pastries I got. A long overdue review! I love this place!!! Wonderful food with reasonable prices. I always get the Vietnamese meat balls aka xíu mại. Their version is my favorite. I like that they have 2 sizes to choose from!! I often get the small one, in addition to other pastries. I like to get BBQ pork bun, crab bun, and durian cream puff. Yum!! Service is wonderful as well. Once time they got my order made incorrectly, I just asked and showed them the receipt , they remade my order right away. i got the mini grilled pork banh mi ($3.50) and a meat bun ($4.50) and paid cash, as they don't accept card for orders under $10. the meat bun is not pictured, but it was definitely the star of the show. i liked the flavor of the pork inside and it went well with the slightly sweet bread exterior. the other pastries on display looked really good too. the banh mi takes longer to come out than expected; i assume they are toasting the bread so that it comes out warm and flaky. overall, really good and worth coming in if you don't feel like waiting in duc huong's long line. read more

As soon as I walked in there was no line and all I saw were appetizingly freshly baked pastries in the window display cases. The staff was friendly and efficient. I ordered a ham and gio thu sandwich, grilled pork sandwich, bbq pork belly sandwich, pate chaud, and a cream cheese croissant roll. Everything was delicious and savory. My Vietnamese ham sandwich had the right scrumptious combo of pickled vegetables, ham, and pate spread. The pastries had the right amount of savoriness and puffy goodness. Triple One Bakery is a bakery that has been around for awhile. It's located in a large shopping plaza with 24 Hr Fitness, Cardenas Market, next to Duc Huong Sandwiches and Jam's Kitchen. East Side San Jose is probably one of the most competitive mechas when it comes to Vietnamese food, and this plaza on McKee Road has three places specializing in banh mi. For the value, 111 Bakery is the choice. Not to mention you have all sorts of dessert options too. There's a Duc Huong right next to it, and they're great. They're better sandwiches too, but they're also more expensive. The main difference between the two is the meat selection and Duc's superior liver pate. Still, 111 isn't that far off. The best thing is you have two sizes with 111. Anyway, that's just banh mi. They also have a pastry selection that rivals Paris Baguette. I enjoy their coconut options as well as the guava strudels. It feels like I'm at Porto's. Their pans of green pandan rolls are also super fluffy and buttery and an easy recommendation. Service is what you expect from an Asian mom&pop. Was searching Yelp for a lunch idea close to where I was and stumbled across Triple One Bakery. This bakery also makes sandwiches and specialty drinks. Keep in mind that this is a bakery and not a place to eat. They do not have any chairs or tables to eat at. I decided to try their Strawberry Drink. This drink had bits of strawberry and some sort of cream mixed into it. They shake it in a drink shaker with ice. It is so cold that it almost hurts to hold in your hand. Now it was tasty but very sweet. That is saying something as I have a massive sweet tooth, just ask my dentist. I got a mini pastrami and cheese sandwich. Their regular size sandwich is about 12 inches while the mini is closer to 6. It was good...l don't enjoy the cheese on it but everything else was very good. Last but not least is desert. You can't go into a bakery and not get a baked good. I got their Vanilla Cream Bun. It was so soft and the vanilla filling was throughout the entire pastry. It also was covered with little pieces of coconut. This provided a hint of coconut flavor but not the big chunks of coconut that get stuck in your teeth. If you're a pate lover like me, this one is more smooth and creamy. The actual bread itself is standard - tastes like your typical french baguette for a banh mi. The mini size is generously sized and was a great bite for lunch without feeling too full. It was my first time getting it myself and the service was OK. All it took was one photo of the unique meat pork bun / banh bao on one of the FB pages I follow and I was like, what is that and where can I get one? I found out in the comments that they came from this bakery. Good thing I was headed past San Jose the following week so I made sure to stop by on my way home. It was a weekday but already slim pickings by 3pm. Luckily plenty of the banh baos so I got a few plus the almond roll, BBQ pork bun, and taro pie. Everything was pretty good but I was not a fan of the taro pie. I think it's the texture of the filling. The banh bao had a really good filling packed with pork, minced fungus, hard boiled egg and a bit of Chinese sausage. Parking was busy but not terrible. I don't think I would go out of my way but if I'm in the area I would stop and get more pastries plus try out their banh mi. read more

They ask you want you would like right as you walk in and then you pay at the counter. No complaints, just fast, simple service. I do appreciate that the recent time, the lady who helped me packaged my large order carefully and gave me lots of napkins without me asking! Parking: The plaza is quite large, but it gets packed, especially on the side where the bakery is (it's right next to Duc Huong). Still, you should be able to fins parking soon enough. Just be careful of the drivers. Pricing: Very fair pricing-super affordable. Pastries are about $2-4, compared to other places that are $5+ per pastry. Food: My mom loves the pate chaud/pate so (flaky pastry with minced meat inside) here so I get a big order for her each time I'm here. Their other items are all good, like the small hot dogs, pizza bun, cream puff (huge!). You can't go wrong. Atmosphere: It can get busy, but the line moves quickly. It's a pick-pay-go place, unless you order a sandwich, then you might need to wait a bit. I'm really impressed with how the place has changed from a more cluttered, univiniting space to the bakery place it is now. It is probably under new management. I've been going to this bakery since I was a child. My mom and I use to shop at the Asian grocery store next to this bakery and we would walk over afterwards to buy the sandwiches or banh bao (for $1 each). I remember they were big, fluffy, warm and delicious. My most recent visit I ordered the banh mi dac biet since I didn't want to wait for the long line at Duc Huong. I am so glad I did because the sandwich was delicious! Their pate is SO flavorful, probably one of the best pate from a sandwich shop I had in a while. It's been about a year since I've updated it with you. Just wanted to keep it fresh and let you know they did a major restorations they have flatscreen TVs two different lines. It is way more efficient in there. I am so happy to see the Mom and Pop shop updating and thriving. Please come here and support your local businesses not too many Mom and Pop shops anymore. Duc Huong's bread was slightly softer than 111 Bakery..BUT the flavors in the 111 Bakery #11 was so much better than Duc Huong sandwich. Unsure what the hype is at Duc Huong..but I will choose 111 Bakery sandwich over Duc Huong any day. If you come here get the #1 so freaking delicious!!! I'm a petite girl but I can eat 2 of these in one seating if I wanted to! Yummy!!! Absolutely the best local bakery here in the South Bay. I have been going here for as long as I can remember. It is owned by a friendly couple where they are also involved in the kitchen. My favorite pastry to get here is the crab bun. The bread itself is on the sweeter side and the crab has a nice taste to it with a subtle side. My go to sandwich is either the cold cuts or the pork floss sandwich. All of these food are at a reasonable price. You do need to spend $10 to use card or else it is cash. A cold dessert I love here is the vanilla cream puff. It has a nice creamy vanilla taste and the outside is still has a crunch to it without being soggy.
