Durian cream puff: thin shell and filled with Durian (strong) flavored cream. Would you dare try one?
    Joy U.

I do love their combination sandwiches. It's my go to sandwich whenever I come here, but they also have different pastries to offer. The bakery is right next to the Hong sandwiches, which is a very tight competitor but if you come inside, there's still a line for sandwiches, which is really good if you're into pastries I recommend to try One of them Durian cream puffs. They are big and filled with filling in the taste. You could definitely taste the Durian flavor. Come check it out.

    Top of the pineapple bun

I've been on the look out for a place that makes a good pineapple bun. My favorite bakery closed all locations in the bay area. I rarely go up to San Francisco which has some good bakery shops that makes great pineapple buns. I found this place on Yelp that carries pineapple buns. When I came Sunday evening, they had none left. The cashier said she will set aside some for me the next day for pick up at lunch. Sure enough I was able to get 4 pineapple buns plus I thought I try their bbq pork buns. The pineapple buns were soft and the topping wasn't as flaky as the Hong Kong pineapple buns. The sweetness level and bun were light whereas the Hong Kong is much sweeter and slightly heavier. I say their pineapple bun is decent and their bbq pork bun is smaller than the Hong Kong version. I rate this place a 3.

I've heard so many good things about this bakery through the years. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype for me. I was a bit disappointed with the items I bought. Most of the baos was not portioned well with the amounts of bao to filling. The baos actually were a bit dry and hard to get through all of it.

They're bacon egg croissant is sooo good. I haven't found a western sandwich that's cheap and under 9 dollars but this bakery as it! I'm so happy. The only complaint is that the onions needs to be washed or something. It leaves a bitter taste and stank my mouth. Thats why I knocked a star off. Other than that, friendly service and quick. A lot of workers here. It's a small place but they organized the queue. It may have taken 15 minutes to get three of the bánh mí. I would still go here and handicapped parking is nearby. I'm not sure if you can roll in with your wheelchair unless you go when it's not busy.

I went here because I saw they were selling a pandan Hawaiian bread! Affordable price, quick service, and the bread was super fluffy with subtle taste of pandan. Each piece was addicting as I kept wanting to eat more... I microwaved it for 15 secs and sprinkled in condense milk which was the perfect dessert for me :)

    Dac Biet and Xiu Mai

Another Banh Mi place next to Duc Huong. I tried this place since my friend really likes the Xiu Mai (meatball) and PLEASE if you are ever willing to try something other than duc huong please try the meatball Banh mi it is so good tender and bread is nice and crispy outside fluffy inside all the ingredients are fresh but I'm just so sad that I couldn't give it a 5 star due to the Dac Biet not being that good. They added pork floss which I know a lot of places do but how they added it made it have a texture of having a wet paper in your Banh mi which kinda threw me off and also it had a stronger flavor than the other ingredients so it covered it. I don't know if it's the brand of the pork floss they use or it might be old, JUST A GUESS DONT ACCUSE THEM OF ANYTHING. The staff there is so nice and welcoming so please give their meatball banh mi a try it is definitely worth it!

    Artificial durian puff pastry

This is the second time I came for the pastries because I wanted to like this place. When I'm next door waiting on my sandwich at Duc Huong I come here. Honestly, the pastries taste so dry. I got the the durian puff pastry, sounds so delicious because I'm a big fan of durian. I have to say it taste so artificial and it leaves an after taste in your mouth. Yuck! This is my second time trying it and both times it tastes awful! I'm really surprised they have such rave reviews for their pastries and not one thing I've ordered was amazing. While the matcha cookie is the only decent thing here. Their croissants and guava pastry is so dry and not a lot of guava but still tasted really artificial, not homemade by any means. While their service is pleasant. They are very friendly and efficient, but their pastries are not that great. I think I'll still to CA bakehouse since they never disappoint.

    Beef Pastrami Sandwich $8

I was in the area for an appointment and wanted Pate Chaud so Yelp'd and 111 Bakery came up. Unfortunately, they did not have any but I still tried their other offerings. 1. Meat Pork Bun $5 2. Hot Dog Bun $3 3. Char Siu Bun $3 4. Custard Bun $3 5. Vietnamese Coffee $5 6. Beef Pastrami with Cheese Sandwich $8 Buns were average so not sure I would go back for that. I prefer Chinese buns. Vietnamese coffee was good - strong enough and not too sweet. The Pastrami sandwich was very tasty and good size for $8. I would have that again but I would be willing to try the Vietnamese sandwiches next time. They are right next to the famous Duc Huong Sandwiches shop so very tough competition - there was the usual line up next door.

    Pork Banh Mi
    John L.

I went to 111 Bakery for pork Banh Mi and it was absolutely delicious. This place was busy at lunch. Right next door is another place that sells Banh Mi, but here you get your money's worth. The Banh Mi is huge, but they do sell minis as well. Pork Banh Mi was cooked perfectly and was super tender. The store is beautiful inside and the pastries all look mouth watering. I coming back to try some of those next time.

    Baked pork bun
    Kristine S.

Came here for some baked goods. Got some baked pork buns and pineapple bun. Though the pork bun was flavorful, sad to say that it was cold. Pineapple was good as well. But both baked goods need to be warmed up. So this isn't a quick order and eat on the go which is what I wanted to happen since you need to heat the baked goods up. Their Thai tea with boba was not bad. Could use a tad more tea flavor for my liking. Service was quick as not many people inside. And there is no seating area.

Love this bakery! There's duc huong sandwiches right next door which always has a long wait, while no wait for this one. Great selection of pastries, breads, banh mis. I like getting the mini bahn mi's which fill me up just enough and only $4. To note- they take cash only if your purchase is under $10.

Good place to get buns and a drink while waiting for sandwiches next door. There's no line here. My Vietnamese coffee $5 had a hint of hazelnut. Not that it is a bad thing but I would have preferred a regular one. The ham and egg bun $3 was OK. I still need to try their sandwiches.

The mini size baguette. Pen for reference!

A long overdue review! I love this place!!! Wonderful food with reasonable prices. I always get the Vietnamese meat balls aka xíu mại. Their version is my favorite. I like that they have 2 sizes to choose from!! I often get the small one, in addition to other pastries. I like to get BBQ pork bun, crab bun, and durian cream puff. Yum!! Service is wonderful as well. Once time they got my order made incorrectly, I just asked and showed them the receipt , they remade my order right away. It's a Vietnamese establishment but super English friendly. Once you order a Vietnamese sandwich, you'll get a ticket and hang around until they call you up. Very quick! No seating, but there's a tiny standing table in the corner that you could stand and enjoy your newly made bánh mì.

    Moon cake time!

Ambiance varies depending on event but they're always friendly and serving with a smile! I did dock a point for price but that's mainly cause I only work part time so I know I can't always get as many as I want and I understand that it cost a lot to make as many as they do. Classic: 5/5 If you like playing it safe or introducing egg tarts to someone new, definitely recommend going with classic. Pandan: 4.5/5 I do prefer a little less coconut flakes personally but other than that no issues Durian: 5/5 Not for everyone but as someone that loves durian I will always get durian if they have it.

The small line went fast and service was sufficient, the staff simply packing my selection without any waiting needed. I ordered a 3-pack box, with corn & cheese, durian, and classic egg tarts. These little snacks were yummy and made of quality ingredients, served at room temp. But they tasted even better after reheating at home. My fave was the classic, though it tasted not so different from the durian which had a subtle flavor. Also, they looked similar with no labels so we couldn't easily distinguish between the two.

They're best known for their famous Burnt Almond Cake, though they also offer a variety of other pastries. Personally, I come here just for the cake. They sell it by the slice or cupcakes, and they also have whole cakes ready to go. If you're looking for a custom cake, though, be sure to place your order in advance. Whenever I'm in the area, I always stop by to pick up a few cakes to bring home for my family, but I can probably eat a whole cake to myself lol. Their prices are still surprisingly reasonable, which makes it even more worth the trip.

We ended up getting three burnt almond cake slices (2 vanilla 1 chocolate) and some brownies. The brownies were pretty good, balanced sweetness and chocolate flavor without being overwhelmingly sweet and I enjoyed the walnuts, but it was a very fudge like texture and I prefer my brownies to be slightly more cake-y and airy. If you like fudge brownies you'd like these. My issue was the burnt almond cake, both vanilla slices were on the dry side. The chocolate slice had a hint of chocolate otherwise tasted exactly the same. The almonds and cream were fine, I would've preferred stronger almond flavor. Was meh. Price is good at $5 for a hefty slice. If I'm in the area maybe I'd go back, otherwise it was about the same as a Safeway cake slice.

You know that toxic relationship with someone you know will disappoint and hurt you but you keep going back anyway? Exactly. There. That's them. My husband and daughter love their vanilla tres leches cake. I do too. It is pretty amazing. So where is the hurt part you may be wondering? The last three times we ordered the cake, they got our order wrong. Sometimes it's the wrong size, sometimes it's the wrong flavor and one time they didn't have our order at all. I had ordered online these past few times so the flavor and size were all in writing. I don't know how they messed it up. When I called them, they refused to change or do anything to make up. You know that toxic person who disappoints every time, yet we make excuses for their bad behavior- maybe they were busy, not in a good mood, one more chance, think of the good times ( or taste in this case)- ditto. They do need better customer service for sure. They are a good drive away from us too and are not cheap. Now the million dollar question- will I go back? I never order my birthday cake from them but give in when my husband and daughter request theirs. For all the inconvenience of getting the wrong order, no corrections and spending a lot of time on the phone with them, I really don't think it's worth ordering from them. Also like that toxic relationship, they won't pick up the phone easily. You may have to try for hours. But if you are okay with getting mocha instead of vanilla or a smaller size round cake instead of the big sheet cake that you ordered, you will be fine. Don't expect to get what you ordered, and you may even be delighted. Ambiance is ordinary, no place to sit, it's an average bakery.
