I have been fortunate to call 1210 Mass my home for the past two years. The apartments are well maintained and the maintenance team always responds promptly to any issues (usually same day). The apartments and furnishings are nice, but not top-tier (I have zero issues with them) and the building is refreshing units. What I found most important is how well the building is run. The elevators are very fast (a rarity) and the front desk concierges are always engaged, friendly and helpful. Overall, the building is fairly quiet (with the exception of the fire station around the corner), so it is great if you want to come home and not have to overhear partying from neighbors on a random weeknight or most weekends. Great spot to live in if you want to have a short walk to work in Metro Center area. Management has been great as they are accessible if you have issues and are arranging more events as Covid restrictions lift. I am only leaving the building to move in with someone else, otherwise I would have happily stayed. Finally, the Streets Market across the street is a real gem and hidden strength to the building. Not a full-size supermarket, but they have enough to get you through the week or if you need to quickly get some fresh veggies. read more

I've been living at 1210 Mass now for a year and have had only top-notch experiences while engaging reception, maintenance, and building management staff. Some examples: - Reception staff always greets me, are happy to chat, and respond to requests for help immediately and with professionalism. - Maintenance staff (Three cheers for Santiago!) conduct themselves in a similar manner. E.G. My AC was acting up roughly two weeks ago. Santi of maintenance staff came within one hour of my request for service, which was made at 10 PM in the evening. Came and fixed issue all in good spirits. - Leasing and management staff are true to their open-door approach. E.G. I walk in to their office and staff turns attention to me without pause. My husband and I have lived in two different apartments at 1210 Mass Apartments over the past six years and for the most part it has been a great building to live in. The building is very pet friendly and is within walking distance to two different dog parks. The building is in a great location, close to Logan Circle and 14th Street and it's also close to the McPherson Square metro and Mt. Vernon Square metro. Unfortunately, the air conditioning in our apartment(s) is subpar at best, especially in the summer. Perhaps it's just our apartment (1 bedroom 1 bath - Hartford plan, East facing) but in the summer the temperature of our apartment typically hovers around 80 degrees with the air conditioning running. I know DC summers are very hot, but it seems that cooling an 838 square foot apartment in a large building shouldn't be that difficult. Something to think about if you're considering moving into this building, your electric bills in the summer will be astronomical. read more

We didn't know where to live in DC, so we picked this building as it was within walking distance to our jobs. Little did we know that 1210 Mass is in the most desirable location in DC. Nestled between Logan Circle, Shaw, and Penn Quarter, this is where the action is. I love walking to my favorite spots on 14th street, walking to Chinatown and Hockey games at the Capital One center, and being able to run a mile to the Washington Monument. Anywhere not within walking distance is easily accessible by metro on the orange, blue, silver, red, yellow and green lines (McPherson square, Metro Center, and Convention center metro stops). It was an easy choice to renew our lease after our first year here. We'd love a little more space, but are willing to make that sacrifice based on having this amazing location. I moved into this building about a month ago, and from the very first day I met Tonya, I knew this was the building for me! Tonya is knowledgeable, sweet, extremely professional, very polite...the perfect balance of sales and humanity. So is Kirti who is the property Manager...true pleasure to deal with them. I was apprehensive about my move because my relocation company had issues with delivery date and time of my things, but the building was accommodating and everything went well. The building is clean, so far quiet, and Ms. Ethel, the Conceirge is a gem. So far, I am pleased with my choice! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because some of the apartment's finishes were a bit disappointing, and there aren't enough closets, but then when are there ever for a woman? read more

I was at 1210 Mass Ave for 3 years. Having just moved out I wanted to write this review to say what a wonderful experience I had living there. The staff were amazing (especially Romero, the maintenance engineer and the front desk concierge). Anytime anything needed to be done, it was promptly taken care of and fully completed The apartments are in great shape because of the awesome maintenance there, which is a testament considering how long he's been at 1210 Mass. Abdul was also super helpful and did a great job. The concierge staff has always been outstanding. Josephine, Sylvia, Gina, and Carla are all courteous and helpful. The office staff (Lisa and Josh) are friendly and know residents by names. It truly felt like a family and community at 1210 Mass. The location is great and it meant so much that this community was pet friendly. In fact, I started my own business walking dogs in the building and in neighboring communities. I hope that this survey helps anyone new to the area and looking for a place to call home. I miss 1210 Mass. read more

Living at 1210 Mass has been a wonderful experience so far. The location is great as it is nearby the Metro and within walking distance of many attractions. The highlight of this apartment is the management. The concierge team--especially Ethel--and the leasing team--Shan and Roxi--are welcoming, responsive, and competent. They have been extremely helpful and willing to work with me regarding lease renewal and other issues. Maintenance requests have also all been completed within 1 business day. When my husband got a job in DC a year and a half ago, we needed to find an apartment quickly. After some research and looking, we ended up signing a lease at 1210 Mass on a studio. What a delightful experience it has been. The staff and management have been great. They keep it absolutely spotless. They could not be friendlier. It's a great location (a few blocks from three different metro stops), right in the heart of everything. Clean, caring and secure...what more could you ask for in downtown DC? Cheap? Uh, no, sorry...you get what you pay for...this place is not cheap, but it is worth it. Job situation has changed again, and we had to say goodbye this weekend. We were sad to do so, and would not hesitate (should circumstances change again) to go back. Will truly miss it. read more

Let me preface this by saying 1210 Mass is generally a good place to live, and I love many of the concierge and maintenance staff we have encountered. Our first year at 1210 Mass started off great. My roommate and I chose it for its location and general cleanliness and amenities. However, when it came time to renew our lease for the second year, things went downhill. First, our renewal offer was over $350 per month higher than our current rate. Given that we got a decent deal our first time around, we were expecting to pay a bit more, but not that much more. After all- one of the rooms in our 2BR 1B has no windows. We set up a meeting with the building's leasing consultant shortly after to negotiate, and were told that we'd hear back on a potential acceptance of the offer within 24 hours. Long story short, over a week later, including several follow ups via email and phone, and being paged to the leasing office by the front desk, only to be left with no one on the line, we received an email back with a counteroffer ($220 more per month). Mind you, they then gave us 24 hours to answer although they disregarded their own deadline, and left us with only two days to look to either re-sign or find something else before we were unable to renew our lease. At that point, it was nearly impossible to get in touch with the leasing consultant, only to finally get her on the phone with 10 minutes left before our deadline, when she eventually said we had to take it or leave it. Fast forward to a couple months later, and one of our appliances has been broken for a few weeks. We have put several work orders in and followed up by phone, only to get nowhere and hear nothing back. Again, many of the staff I've encountered here have been great. But there seems to be a fundamental issue with customer service within Equity Residential. read more

The location is excellent, with reasonable access to 14th St restaurants, metro stops (I use Convention Center and McPherson Square most often), and the Penn Quarter restaurants. I have lived at this apartment for over 1 year and my roommate has lived here over 5 years and the service has gone down hill over the past 2 months. It seems that they only care about money and less about providing the services we are paying them for. In contacting the lease agent, it took 3 weeks and multiple calls to the manager to have him respond and fix our issue. Our washing machine broke and we put in a fix request after 2 days of no resolution and 3+calls daily, we received a call informing us that their key system is down and they are unable to get into our apartment. I'm fairly curtain that an apartment building HAS to have a copy of the keys available for emergencies. All I can say is that I am happy to be leaving and am sad that this great location does not provide the service it used to. Not worth the money. read more

I'm a neighborhood guy and love doing stuff with my neighbors. Moving into an apartment building was something I NEVER thought I would do - until I came across 1210 Mass. The other residents are friendly and we do things together which is important to me. Shae and her team go out of their way to help out when needed and genuinely care about resident quality of life. This is probably the best apartment building my wife and I have lived in--they really do everything right. Concierge staff are friendly and helpful (they even put our frozen BBQ in our freezer when it came a day early and we were out of town for several days), the units are well appointed, management and maintenance are responsive and fair, and the nearby neighborhoods of Shaw, 14th Street/Logan Circle, and Mount Vernon are the heart of the city these days. This apartment complex is horrible. If you're thinking of renting here, please do not. Don't go through the same thing that I had to go through. The staff doesn't care about its customers. The only good people at this complex are the front desk attendants. They're incredibly sweet. Equity Residential should be ashamed that it employs such horrible people to be its leasing agent and community manager. Do these people have a college degree...? They don't act like they do.
