Favorite restaurant of mine and my Mother's. We eat here a lot. Food is always good and the portions are large.

Stopped here for the first time on our way through Mt Airy and so glad we did....it was amazing! The ribs were fall off the bone! We recommend the Memphis seasoning rub with the sweet Kansas City sauce. The kids loved the Mac and cheese and baked beans. We also had the special for the day for Sunday, a breaded boneless fried chicken breast over mashed potatoes with gravy on top, and to no surprise it was delicious too, lightly breaded and perfectly seasoned. Kayla our waitress was fantastic with her recommendations and explanation of the food and how they only buy local meat and cut it all in house. Oh wow! Can I say southern comfort food?!?!?! They had every southern comfort food I could imagine and the prices were great and affordable! My steak was deliciously seasoned and perfectly cooked. Fair prices. the fried chips were really good and cooked to perfection. the meat that they use seemed sub par. for instance my friends stead was tough but cooked perfectly and the ribs were also cooked good but the racks were narrow like the cut 2 rack out of one real rack and they were extremely fatty. I guess that's how they keep the prices low. over all it was a good experience. read more

My husband and I went to this restaurant for my birthday. We took a seat at the small bar and waited as the place was pretty crowded. We eventually were seated across from the bar, near the kitchen. The atmosphere is family oriented so, if you're looking for an intimate setting this isn't it. The place is very brightly lit, has lots of families with small children and it's really noisy! No ambience at all. My steak, however, was good. My husband got the fried oysters but they were very salty. I give this restuarant 3 stars because I liked my steak but honestly, Longhorn or Texas Steak house has more character. read more

The daily specials are a great value and so much better than fast food (although I don't recommend the lasagna. It doesn't have enough sauce.) Their blackened chicken salad is excellent. Wow this place is the bomb! I am so very picky. ...so, with that being said it's going to be very hard to super impress me. WELL, I was wrong! The atmosphere was perfect and very clean. Before you could sit down good our waiter was there introducing himself and ready to serve. The customer service skills from this gentleman is TOTALLY AWESOME ! It was like we were his only customers ...which is so not true as there establishment was packed! Now the food, since that is really why we came here, right? Well it was PERFECT! WE got Ribeye Steak and Ribs that just fell off the bones ! Soo juicy and tender! We will definitely be back soon ! I just can't believe I am summing up this review with all perfect scores and compliments and NO complaints or smart a** comments at all! I ate there for my last time after being treated like a lying piece of scum by the cashier. My grandson and I eat there about 2 times a month just for the salmon ceasar salad for him. The first couple times he got it, it was very good. The last 4 times the salmon has been served half raw and we have had to send it back. Yesterday we took the time to explain this to our waitress and ask that it be cooked well done. When it came, it was under cooked like the other times and had to be sent back. When we got it back, it still had large portions under cooked. When I told the cashier that and I didn't think I should have to pay for it, she told me that she liked their salmon, but did not like hers well done. My meals have been very good, but I pay the bill and we will not be coming back. I am not a cheat and just say this to get something free. He ended up with a severe upset stomach last night and I am sure it is from trying to eat his meal. I am sure you have so many customers that you don't care, but you have definitely lost 2 customers. read more

Chose this restaurant because of the good reviews. I think our waitress made things worse. We asked for extra napkins & she never brought them. We didn't bother asking again. She brought the Cesar salads out with no dressing. We tasted it to see if it was tossed in before bringing it to the table.. no. When we told the waitress it didn't have much if any dressing on the salad.. she nicely said it is on the salad & asked if we wanted extra. After 10 min at least she never came back. Our food was then brought out ... still no dressing nor waitress. Finally, when we saw her, we asked for the manager. The manager was very nice & said we should of had the dressing way before the main course came. She said she would compensate for the salads. We had as one of our sides asparagus ... when another server brought that out the asparagus out, it was hanging off the sides of the small plate.. she laid down with the asparagus which half of it was touching the unclean table. Needless to say we cut that part off. We asked for our check & then we saw one of our sides were charged extra $1.50. So therefore we ended up getting compensated $1.50 (instead of $3 the manager took off which was nothing) That check got sent back to manager which she apologized. BAD experience for sure. This place lacks customer service & the wait staff needs training especially in food safety. read more

This place has some of the best pork ribs in the South. If you are not a fan of pork, go with the 13 ounce ribeye steak. This is a select cut and cooked to perfection! The waitresses are very prompt and do a very good job of taking care of all the customers. read more

Extremely small sides. Maybe 1/4 cup of each? My green beans took only 3 bites to eat. The mashed potatoes were cold. I was rushed and the waitress kept asking me if she could take my plate. The desserts are not made there and sides were canned or process. The town is adorable. Too bad they don't have good southern food. read more

Stopped in for dinner, had the 'mix and match' pork chop and grilled shrimp combo. Shrimp were excellent, pork chop was good (didn't catch much of the marinade flavor). Mozzarella sticks were fried correctly, but the marinara sauce is runny (should be thicker to stick to the mozzarella). Absolutely one of the best places to eat steaks and ribs our family has ever ate. Only being opened less than 4 years, the owner takes off and starts his own business leaving The Depot at Cody Creek. He has probably made this the best little restaurant around....we drive from Statesville, NC on a regular basis to eat here. As they say "GREAT food, GREAT Service, GREAT times, BAD parking". At least the shirts didn't lie, the parking isn't the best however Sagebrush doesn't mind if you park there.....and there is parking on the grass just a little further to walk. Well worth the drive, well worth the extra walk and well worth the time to get seated. Although waiting isn't all that bad....really quick service, wonderful waitress staff and OMG the BBQ sauce they put on the ribs. I always ask for a side for dipping! Horrible 5x! It's really a .25 , not 1. The score goes to the waitress for her compassion. Tuna steak supposedly medium rare, came out well done. I returned it. It came back light brown outside & cold half frozen middle!!! Yuck! I skipped dinner!!! My husband ordered Sirloin, medium rare, came out medium well ! sweet potato was cold! Fried pickles was too salty. The only thing good was the Tea. Surprisingly, lots of people at this restaurant. Did we miss something??? Will never return, never recommend to anybody!!! This business is made up from people that used to work at The Depot in Dobson. They have great ribs, the grilled flounder is 2nd to none, and their steaks are fantastic. I personally like their grilled chicken. It is always busy, so if you come at peak time, plan to wait for a table. My wife and I have never had a bad meal from there. read more

Our group of 10 went here at the recommendation of the hotel clerk and it was right on. The fried pickles and other appetizers were very good and the blackened Cajun red snapper was the best I ever had. My very first visit was horrible. We order steaks medwell and they was medium rare. All the sides was under cooked. I called and they mailed a gift card. So we decided to give it another try again tonight. And our order was cheese sticks (they where cold inside cheese not melted) MILD WINGS (SO SPICE my son that loves spice COULDNT EVEN eat them) a hamburger steak with double mashed potatoes ( was cold) and a kids shrimp and fires ( shrimp was cold) will never return read more

In town for the night and my mother-in-law insisted on 13 Bones. Sounds wrong on so many levels I know....but her choice for dinner couldn't have been more right. We started off with the fried pickles which were way better than anything back home (CLE Ohio). I wasn't in the mood for ribs so I went with the ribeye med rare and even though it was more med it did not disappoint. It had excellent flavor and was very tender. The house made chips with the french onion dip are a must for a side. As for the ribs which are their specialty, my in-laws enjoyed every last bite. They said the ribs had just the right amount of smoke and were very tender. While the food was good the thing that put it over the top was the service. I wish I could remember our servers name bc she was out of this world. She was extremely busy but managed to make us feel like we were her top priority. If I'm ever in Mt. Airy again I will definitely come back and judging by the crowd tonight a lot of people share my sentiment. read more

You can tell when you drive up and cannot find a parking space that good food is served here. Was just hubby and I so we always try and grab chairs at the bar so we don't take up a table that seats 4. Food was delicious and the service at the bar was great. Stopped here during an overnight stay in Mt. Airy, NC. Very impressed. Most of us got some sort of chicken entree. All of us loved the meal. The chicken was cooked perfectly. I can't really give a food review since we never got seated. When we put our names down for a table, they said there would be a 20 minute wait for the two of us. 45 minutes later we ask about where our names were on the list and were told the tables were reserved for parties of 8 or more. Wish we had known that from the beginning. We left and had very negative feelings about the establishment. We were visiting from out of town, so when we return later I doubt we try again. read more

While visiting Mount Airy, NC for the annual Mayberry Days festival we chose the 13 Bones restaurant for a Friday evening meal. This restaurant was highly rated on all of the rating websites. Upon arrival, the parking lot was full. The wait was about 30 minutes. Our server was very friendly and took our order right away. One of our meals included a flounder and fried shrimp combo with coleslaw, baked potato and hush puppies. The other meal was a sirloin steak and Memphis style rib combo with a house salad, baked potato and hush puppies. As our food arrived at the table, the presentation was great and the portion sizes were larger than expected. Everything was cooked perfectly. The fried flounder and shrimp was great. The baked potatoes are tender and large. The 8 oz. sirloin steak was cooked to medium, had great flavor and was very tender. The half-slab of Memphis style ribs were some of the best that I have ever tasted! Fall off the bone tender, with a great smoke taste. The dry rub had just the right amount of seasoning (combination of sweet and spicy). This was absolutely one of the BEST meals that we have had recently. No doubt about it, the folks at 13 Bones put their heart and soul into their cooking and the payoff is some of the finest tasting food you will likely find anywhere. The pricing is reasonable for the service, quality and quantity of food you get for your money. Next time your in Mount Airy, NC (MAYBERRY) give 13 Bones your business. read more
