We took friends to dinner here and generally had an enjoyable experience. Food and service were both good. We'll be back in the future.

My husband told me wherever you want to go for our anniversary we'll go. I chose 131 main because it is literally my favorite restaurant in my area. We started out with the double dip appetizer, which is an amazing veriety of guaqamole, a cheese dip and salsa. The quagame has amazing taste with just enough garlic and onion flavor. The salsa is more amazing than anything I have ever had. We had the baby back ribs. So much flavor and fall off the bone ribs, it has smoke flavor as well as their private seasonings and BBQ that it is to die for. They serve P & C coleslaw. Which has peanuts but is a flavorful blend. Their fries I wish everyone had fries Ike this. It's been the best top dollar restaurant I've ever been to in my life. The service provided was like was 5 star, no doubt about it. The setting was so romantic with the gas candles on the wall to the beautiful tabletop. read more

Had on wonderful dinner, our table started with the deviled eggs appetizer which was excellent. I ordered a half wedge salad that was just the right size and very good. For my entree I had the 14oz Ribeye, requested it be prepared medium and it came out perfect, very tender and tasty. We also enjoyed local IPA's and my two dinner companions ordered the filet and the double pork chop and they both were very happy with their meal. Went here two weeks ago with another couple. Not what it used to be. Nice place but service was sub-par. Two of the 4 dishes had cold proteins and all of our sides were cold. Server did bring back hot proteins but the scallops were undercooked. Never got drink refills. My wife and I ordered a desert to share and told server that if I liked it I may have to order one for myself. but she never came back to see how I liked it. Not a fan of the "primary" server approach - lots of staff scurrying around but didn't lead to better service. I saved room for desert and then didn't find anything that interested me. I've tried my fair share of veggie burgers and this might just be one of the best! It is huge! All of the toppings go so well together. It was delicious!! The staff was also very fast and very nice, it was raining and they held an umbrella over our car window for curb side pick up. read more

Had dinner here for restarunt week again this year. Requested prime rib be on the menu and included on the special menu and it was. I'm sure my request didn't get it done but many requests as it is wonderful. I had the ribs, outstanding, and the wife had the prime rib. We were with 5 other people who ordered other items and not complaint one on the food. The service was good but they may have been a little short handed due to slow refills but if that is all you have to complain about your having a good day. I plan on visiting again soon. read more

Food here is always fresh and they alter ingredients for allergy concerns, or warn you off certain dishes. Having dined here many times I can safely say that attentive service is consistent at this establishment. Laren served us for the second time and she is truly a professional. She graciously opened and poured our wines and made sure our dinner met our expectations. We got lost in conversation and Laren did not rush us (we did finally realize we were hogging the table and continued our conversation outside). Be sure to make a reservation because this place is hopping! *One of the perks of 131 is that there is no corkage fee when you bring your own wine but please remember to figure that in when you tip; glasses still need to be washed and server is still attending to the pleasure of your service. read more

The first meal was with kids, not knowing that the setting was more for date night. The server wasn't very attentive or explanatory that night. Returned for date night and got the short guy that about trips on his aprin....he is GREAT!! The salmon appatizer is exquisite! Rainbow trout also great. I want to start out by saying we frequent 131 Main often and it's always good, but tonight it was exceptional! Our server Brittany was the kindest, sweetest, most attentive wonderful server we've ever had....maybe ever! She made sure everything was up to our standards and was all around a joy! She made the night so wonderful we may only come when she's available In all honesty though it was a truly fabulous experience between the service and the food and a great reminder we will keep coming back there for any and all occasions. Don't hesitate to come here for a memorable meal! (I should probably mention the food)! Between the 7 of us we had a couple ribeyes, filet, crab cakes and prime rib sandwich and everybody was SO happy with their meal. I was not 6 feet apart from next table- They did not make people wear masks that were not eating- I saw several managers without masks toward end of night. I did not get the feeling that they took covid seriously. Definitely guests did not. I will not return and I don't advise anyone going until after the pandemic. I did not feel safe. I eat out and restaurants in Asheville are doing a good job. Not this one is was frightening. If I do not contract Covid I will be surprised. This place always looks well kept and they seem to check the bathrooms frequently. The food is usually really good, and they have a nice variety, but ...the staff isn't knowledgeable about checking for allergens and fail to follow up additional courses you may order. Some are just plain inattentive to that detail, but most are just ignorant of how to help you avoid allergens... either that or the kitchen staff is the problem and they're telling the wait staff incorrect info. Some don't seem to know how/what items/labels to check. I was dosed with canola oil off and on when we ate there and we couldn't figure out what was triggering my reactions until a newer waiter told me I couldn't have my usual meal because the dressing had canola. I didn't believe him initially because I'd been told by at least 8 or more wait staff, for over a year, that it was canola-free. The waiter was certain so ordered what he said would be safe and I didn't have a reaction. read more

Two stars for SOME of the service. Went to celebrate a birthday and board certification. Drinks were made differently both times and incorrectly. We came in around 7 and were put on a "20 minute" wait list for outside. We sat at the bar and after the waitress passed us twice talking to everyone around us, we went to get her and menus we ordered drinks and an app 20 minutes later! Smoked salmon app was yummy. Basic toast with it. Fast forward to 7:45 we asked about our table and they had one available immediately, so I think we were forgotten. Ironic that three hostesses stood around and we couldn't get a drink for 20+ minutes. Anyways, we both ordered steaks medium. They were thin steaks BOTH OVERCOOKED and rubbery. I ordered one with regular savory seasoning "anything they want to put on it just not the sweet soy sauce one." It was the blandest chewiest thing. Corn was barely there but great. The waitress outside was SO helpful and we didn't order until late because of the table confusion/lack of help that we did not want to complain as it was now hitting 9 and we're finally getting food. The waitress was working a double and still wanted us to take our time. We left good tips for both even though the bartender treated us like an inconvenience. We took our unfinished food home and called it a night. Two steaks under-weighed overcooked and under seasoned not worth $90 bucks. We should have said something but I didn't want to ruin the occasion or the waitresses night who was so kind. Only to find that the birthday girl was extremely disappointed. What a shame. read more

Wow. I've been to 131 Main countless times and I guess I've just never gotten around to reviewing it. It's one of my favorite restaurants in the Lake Norman area and we're always coming back for more. The restaurant is not very big and it's usually pretty busy for dinner, so you'd be best off making reservations, especially on the weekends. I don't think we've had bad service here ever. It's always pretty good and the servers and bussers seem to work together well. My favorite is the ribs. They are legitimately fall off the bone and they're so tasty. I usually end up switching my sides from what they automatically come with, and they're super accommodating about that. Their loaded mashed potatoes are awesome and they have a good wedge salad. For appetizers, their cast iron cornbread and double dip (pimento cheese, guacamole and salsa) are great as well. They don't use freezers here which is why their menu is small, but everything is always fresh and tasty and it's one of the best restaurants in Lake Norman. read more

Love the welcoming staff. The food is wonderful and worth the price. If you want no salt, say so, they will honor your request. Salads crunchy as they should be. Cost? We always stopped when this restaurant was in Dillsworth. It has lost some of its ambiance but the food and service are still great. A favourite of my husband is the grilled artichokes as an appetizer and I love the prime rib roast beef dip. The shoestring fries are a special treat. read more

Customer service could stand improving. Food is good but the people are not so accommodating.

For such an expensive restaurant, I'd have expected better. The waitress serving us was very nice and professional, so I'll give them that. But the food I was served was mediocre to bad. The croutons they use in their cesar salad taste sugary for some awful reason. The lettuce is good though. For anybody who doesn't like croutons, you'll enjoy it, but otherwise you'll probably have to eat the salad without them or order something else. The Ribeye I ordered was alright, along with the mashed potatoes. They were a little plain, but that's my fault since I ordered plain seasoning (salt and pepper only). Next time I'd go with marinated to get more flavor. I went there with my parents yesterday and, since it was restaurant week, we ordered off the menu which included a desert to go along with your course. This ultimately brings me to why I'm writing this review. My parents ordered a key lime pie, which was good for them ultimately. I ordered a strawberry shortcake to go, because I was too full to finish it there. I wish I had opened it at the restaurant and looked at the poor excuse for a shortcake they gave me: A cup of strawberries and a biscuit that was lightly sugared on top. It comes with ice cream and they gave me plain ice cream to eat at the restaurant since I was taking mine to-go, and it would have melted otherwise. Ice cream wasn't that good either, but oh well. For spending $150+ for the three of us total I would have expected higher standards from here. What a poor excuse for a strawberry shortcake. You can get a lot better food for cheaper if you go elsewhere. read more

FINALLY!! My go to place for fantastic service, great drink menu and superb main menu. Christmas Eve dinner with the family and I am so happy we chose to come here! We arrived painfully early after church and sat in the bar. I had one (maybe two) Dirty Tito martini's - blue cheese olives- yum-mo!! My husband had a Makers Mark and yes they were spot on. Dinner- I chose the limon linguine a absolutely Delish with a hint of lemon, kale, shrimp and chicken. There were grilled grape tomatoes that I could take or leave, but it was a delicious dish. Husband had cedar plank salmon which he liked but it was served with a cold side which he didn't care for and they obliged him with another side of green beans which he liked. Our daughter had the Danish rack of ribs and they were great but a little heavy on the sauce. If Were to order again, I would ask to have lightly sauced. We did turn down dessert so can not comment. I'm looking forward to coming back during Queens feast And would love to try their brunch. Went for dinner with a group of friends and this place did not disappoint! The staff was very friendly, they always had a smile on their face. We sat outside and although the tables couldn't be pushed together to accommodate the group we still enjoyed! We all started with the double dip (delicious!) and the cornbread. I ordered the blueberry mule, which I've never seen before, and loved it!!! Dinner: our table each ordered and then we sampled each other's, thankfully! I ordered filet, asparagus and the corn. All amazing! The filet was cooked perfectly and was a good size. The corn was the most unique thing on their menu that o tried, it's seasoned with a sweet curry and omg it's amazing! We also had the ribs, which literally fell off the bone! You could push the side of the rack down and the bone would pop out, you didn't even have to touch with a knife if you didn't want to! The French fries are shoestring which is my favorite! We did order the special which was sockeye salmon, this was very overlooked unfortunately, we did finish it but would not recommend or reorder again.
