Without exaggeration, this may be the best ice cream I've ever had. I'm no expert, but I've tried my fair share of amount of different ice creams and can be judgy about them, so I truly mean it when I say that this is seriously unique and special. The house-made ice cream is incredibly rich and smooth and has a perfect texture that I've never experienced before. It's unquestionably ice cream, but it's so dense and creamy that in a way it reminds me of a custard or crème brûlée. The difference between this and "regular" ice cream is not subtle at all. The quality and uniqueness of the recipe and ingredients is immediately obvious and is easily a tier above any regular ice cream. I got the Cheesecake and Apple Pie flavors, both of which were great. It looked like they make a wide range of flavors but only have a smaller amount (8-10?) available each day. I regret not trying more. Glad we were able to try this place before leaving Sequim. Would've loved to try out their pizza or sandwiches, but we came in during dinner on Sunday and ordered the Y & K house salad, spinach gorgonzola salad and ice cream for dessert. The homemade dressing on these salads were amazing. I definitely recommend the cilantro vinaigrette. If you're not pro-cilantro then go with the orange vinaigrette. Either way, both dressings were light and full of flavor. Seeing as Sequim is the "Lavender Capital of North America", we had to try the lavender ice cream as well as strawberry and mint chocolate chip. All three were outstanding; creamy, light and decadent. Service was attentive. Demiree (sorry for the misspelling) was informative and her suggestions were excellent--thank you! The only drawback for would be their hours of operation. They're closed Mondays and Tuesdays and don't open again until Wednesday at 5 with extended weekend hours Friday through Sunday. I want to like this place, I really do. There are certainly positives. today was our second time in. First was dinner which was fine, nothing amazing but solid. Today was lunch There was one other family seated when we got there and they left shortly after we arrived so we were the only ones seated for lunch. A few people came in for ice cream but not service. At one point a party of 9 came in and the staff hemmed and hawed about whether they could seat them or do 9 meals at the same time. They LEFT! The place was EMPTY and they were essentially turned away. What if three parties of 3 had arrived at the same time, would that also be too much? This is unreal to us. Turning business away when they came there to spend money on your food offerings, in the middle of a DEAD Saturday afternoon is just a poor decision. If your chef can't handle making food for 9 people, this is probably not the business for you. I also asked the owner when we were seated if they had a menu of their next international night. She told me that no, they created it shortly before (ok I can understand that to a point) but then she said that most people like the surprise. My husband (who is a business coach) and I were astounded. People who want to be surprised just won't go out of their way to find the menu but there are those of us (myself included and many others) who won't go to a restaurant, especially one that is expensive without knowing the menu. They are pushing business away and it also tells us that the chef (or whomever is making that choice) is not organized. This is not how you cultivate and grow a business. So onto the food. Things have definitely gotten more expensive since they first opened however the proteins are local or organic which we appreciate and my husband and I always share lunch anyway so it was ok but be prepared for 21.00 - 28.00 lunches most of which are sandwiches. We got the organic chicken sandwich with fries. We asked for the aioli on the side and also a side of mayo and the fries crispy. I was worried because their menu described the fries as hand-cut russet potatoes. This could go either way. If you are truly doing hand-cut fries, there is a technique to cooking them correctly but I hoped for the best. I was disappointed. They do not know how to properly cook them. I know they will say, everyone likes different things... etc but hand-made fries must be double fried or this will happen. They were not pleasant and were inedible. They also charged for the side of mayo which we were not told. I could have done with 1/4 of what they brought out which is probably why they have to charge, a lot of waste. The sandwich was very good but very sloppy and we even ordered the sauce on the side. We had to eat it with a knife and fork, it was that sloppy. I don't fault them for this but this was our experience. The chicken was a very generous portion and more than enough for both my husband and I even without eating those awful fries. ***UPDATE*** I'm updating this since the owners left a comment. I find most of their comments to run along the same style, excuses, and passive-aggressive. This one was no different. They make very odd choices as a business owner. However, as a customer, it's a turnoff when you write a novel about why my experiences were not really what I saw or experienced. No one is perfect and mistakes happen but owning them in a simple way is much more respectful to the customer who helps keep your business running. read more

A quick stop for ice cream on our way to Port Angeles. We've been wanting to try this place for a while and it did not disappoint! We knew about the ice cream but didn't know until we pulled up that it's also a cafe! We'll have to come back to try the food sometime. Now, about the ice cream. This place makes their ice cream in house and it is creamy, flavorful, and has a texture that feels velvety, like ice cream and custard got married and had a baby. There are two size options to choose from- large and small. Both come with one free topping. The ambience inside is bright and welcoming. The decor is perfect, and this place has one of the nicest bathrooms I've ever seen in a restaurant. The owners (a husband and wife team) obviously care very much about the customer experience. I've been hearing such great things about this place from a lot of people - had to try it out for myself... SO GLAD I DID! We got two pizzas - One with italian meats and one Margherita. They were both SO GOOD! The crust is so flavorful - the sauce is delicious - the cheese is to die for. We also had ice cream - it's SO GOOD! I saw other reviews that complained about the size and price on the ice cream but - this is very rich high end ice cream - I feel the quality is 100% worth the money. Excellent customer service, spotlessly clean restaurant, friendly knowledgeable and quick staff. The owners are wonderful. I had the fish and chips served with 3 pieces of freshly caught cod and a mountain of fries. I thankfully forced myself to save room for the homemade ice cream. After several delicious tastings I decided to keep it old school and enjoyed a small cup of chocolate. Excellent flavor and consistency. Yum! Breakfast time - I ordered a cup of their delicious coffee, no cream or sugar is necessary, and the American breakfast of scrambled fresh eggs, home style potatoes, delicious bacon from a duroc pig (tasty meat) and I substituted one pancake for toast. What a meal! Their restaurant is on the corner of the very gross Sequim Bay Inn but don't let that dissuade you from enjoying some really delicious food and ice cream. Hopefully someone will come along and buy the disgusting Inn and give Agnew area of Sequim a beautiful hotel to be proud of. If/when it happens I will be back! read more

If I could give a zero I would. The moment I walked in giving me a hard time and was basically telling me and my family we would not like the food. I'm not sure if it was because I am in hiking attire, a woman, or because I was asking questions.. the hostess flustered me to the point I walked out. As soon as I did the hotel manager asked me if they refused to serve me, which they basically did because anything I asked for was a remark about how it may be difficult and everything will take time and everything is made fresh etc. the hotel manager said I wasn't the first guest and this is an ongoing problem. That is the best food I have ever had, made my mom almost sry from how good the food was and the stake was sooo good and the pork chop is so good my mother said that the pork chop was better then hers. I said that the ice cream changed my perspective on ice cream and she cut the ice cream from the bill. This was my first time here. I've heard good reviews and wanted to check it out. We had an Alaskan burger and pizza. As far as the burger, I feel there is a new King of burgers in town. My friend Mark and met the owner Bill and Marietta. Both are super nice people. Bill asked us to sample one of his Hors d' Oeuvres. Prime Filet Mignon Bits. All I can say is WOW, the meat melts in your mouth. Bill gave us a tour of the remodeling of the new dinningroom and lounge due to open in April . Yes! -14 Below is open! Grand Opening was July 22nd! Right now, they are serving breakfast and lunch. We have been there several times already. Omelettes are light, fluffy, and yummy. We tried the dungeness crab and ham and cheese versions. So great to have a crab omelette with actual crab in it. Not just a suggestion of crab! Generous portion of ham in the ham and cheese omelette too. Cheese in both omelettes was just the right amount. Hubby said his mocha latte was just right. Not too sweet. They use their own pasture raised eggs in their dishes and ice cream that is supplied from their own Chicken & Egg business! On our second visit, we came for lunch. Hubby had fish and chips. It tasted flaky, fresh and flavorful. Lightly battered. I had the salmon salad that had a tasty, tangy cilantro-lime dressing over fresh greens and for the first time ever, the salmon was cooked perfectly! Finally, a restaurant we can go out to that knows how to cook a beautiful filet of salmon! Hubby tried the house made ice cream and he thought the strawberry was delicious with chunks of strawberry in it. Staff was attentive, sweet, and ready to please us! Loved their aprons. We find the best things in life are sometimes worth waiting for. This truly is a farm to table restaurant. As I mentioned above, they use their own Chicken & Egg Farm eggs from their very own hens! That goes for every dish that requires eggs as well as their fabulous ice cream. They also obtain other ingredients from local sources as well as bring in imported items to add to Executive Chef William's magic in the kitchen. We were there when they ran out of ice cream. The response to the ice cream has been amazing. This is small batch, made on the premises, real deal, ice cream. Sometimes they have had to close early because they simply ran out of ice cream way before 8:00 p.m. We plan to be there earlier to get in on the delicious fun! We want to continue to give this restaurant our support. They just opened on July 22! They are trying to bring something very special to Sequim. We have lived here for almost four years now, there is nothing like this place anywhere else that we know of. We are excited to see Executive Chef William continue to make his dream come true.
