We went for lunch and made the mistake of arriving right at 11:30, when breakfast had just ended (at 11:20) and lunch was starting. It was definitely a busy transition, so the restaurant was packed. I had the turkey BLT, and while it was good, it wasn't quite as amazing as it has been on previous visits. That said, it's such a fun place to eat, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. Unless you're a frequent customer I'd highly suggest not visiting. We were seated quickly outdoors and were not busy. We got coffee and waitress said she'd be right back. Not great coffee. After 5 minutes a large group came in and grabbed cushions for cold metal seats and were waited on quickly. We got cushions and waited another 5 minutes then decided to pour our own coffee assuming the carafe was out for that. We got chastised for touching it but still no service. Finally another waitress took our order since the first one was with the larger table. Good came but was cool. Spruce Goose recently changed ownership, and it has gotten even better. It's always been a fun place to go (and also to take the grandkids) to watch the planes, look over all the airplane decor, and have a good meal. But staff are now rocking this place with attention to detail, great food and friendly welcoming crew. Of course you can go here for a burger and fries and pie - but if you are a vegetable lover, try the wildcat veggie sandwich with fresh avocado for lunch, or their delicious avocado toast with eggs and homemade hash browns for breakfast and you tell me. Make sure to try out their delicious marble rye toast too if you are having a sandwich - and their side salads are generous and not boring. For you gourmet coffee drinkers, get your espresso somewhere else first, this is an upscale rural diner but i's still a diner with plain American coffee. We have been there 3 times in the last month, and every time a winner, so I thought I'd better write a review and give them some love. They improved their hours too, open 7 days a week now! Super classic diner and a huge plus that it's super convenient to fly in for brunch. If flying, I definitely would recommend coming before 12 as that's when everyone else flocks over like little ants haha The service is super friendly and welcoming, decor is a bit old school, but so fun with all the aviation related things. I ordered a half order of the French toast which was so classically yummy. And obviously got a slice of apple blueberry crumble to go. The Monte Cristo was worth flying in for, and co-pilot's Chicago Dip was tender and flavourful. Yes, I hijacked a bite! It was a little difficult getting out for our return flight, but I was happy to see how busy the place was on a Sunday. Business is booming under the new ownership. The staff were friendly and did a great job under pressure. I took some rhubarb pie to go. It was homemade and delicious, although the crust was a bit bland. They may have forgotten to add a pinch of salt. Dessert pie crust should be just slightly savory. Other than that, still the best around! We'll definitely be back! read more

Two fluffy pancakes (pretty good but they were paired with butter not maple syrup hmmm), two eggs any style (I picked scrambled eggs - flavorless, smaller portion than expected), and one sausage patty (tasty). Old Fashion Oatmeal - My favorite out of three. Delicious original oats cooked with milk. I appreciate that they put raisins and brown sugar in separate containers. Fruit Salad w/ Cottage Cheese - Fresh fruit with huge portion of cottage cheese, but the cheese didn't taste good at all. We ended up throwing away most of it. Wow where to begin! First, run don't walk to the Spruce Goose Cafe! What a gem of a place. On our way out of town visiting Port Townsend a girlfriend and I stopped in for breakfast. At first we thought we might be lost as we were driving into the Jefferson County International Airport but soon we discovered the best restaurant around. We had just missed breakfast hour but the lunch menu was fabulous too. Enjoyed the clam chowder (Friday special) and a tuna sandwich on rye. Busy place with lots of locals and smiling people. The staff were all super friendly. We purchased some cute merchandise to take home with us too. We will be coming back for the breakfast soon. Don't miss this amazing little spot! read more

You all probably know how this place is a fly-in diner where you get a very unique experience along with your meal. But man, I have never had an experience like this! Seeing people fly in to eat in their personal airplanes and I even saw a helicopter land here. A HELICOPTER. Like WHAT IS THIS LIFE?! I drove to this restaurant by the way. Onwards to the food: - So here's the precursor to my review. I love canned corned beef hash. I think it's like traveling back in time to grade school where my grandma used to cook me corned beef hash and eggs for breakfast. I'm not ashamed by this. I can say it over and over again. I LOVE CANNED CORNED BEEF HASH! Anyways, that's what they serve here and it was delicious! Gotta eat some salty and crunchy meat, eggs, and buttered sourdough bread with a gorgeous view of the airport. A unique experience indeed! - My SO ordered the eggs benny and it looked alright. Not impressed with the place really. Service is good, food is ehh... some reviews say the portions are large? Not for us, the potato serving size was dismal, the eggs must be small size, the bacon was over cooked and greasy and not very big strips. When you can see space between every item on a small plate, its a cook being cheap and trying to make things stretch out. Not worth the price or the time to eat there. We went there before they changed hands and after, same story and sorry, that friendly smile and banter only goes so far when the portions are small and the prices are high. I found nothing outstanding here. Table service was inattentive and nothing to rave about. No refill offered on overpriced soft drink. My hamburger was ordinary and flavorless, probably cooked while frozen. French fries were cold. With so many better options in Port Townsend, I see no reason to ever return here for the small portions of mediocre offerings. Fish & Chips appeared to be frozen Mrs. Paul's. Not sure why it is rated at 4.5 stars as our experience here was basic institution type frozen food. read more

Very cute place. Reminds me of this old place that used to be at the airport in Hoquiam, Wa. Called Lana's Cafe. It's been closed for years but this is so close to it. Very friendly service, nice seating, nice bathrooms. The eggs Benedict was so good, I got a half order. Coffee was fairly good as well. The pancake was very good. Very squishy and cooked evenly. We always stop here for breakfast when we are in Port Townsend. It has a real local feel and the food is simply delicious. All kinds of model airplanes decorate the place. Unexpectedly great. This cafe was recommended to us by my fiancé's flight instructor after he recently got his pilots license. We flew into Port Townsend which the cafe is connected to. BEST PIE I HAVE EVER HAD. The place was busy with pilots and guests that drove in. We waited about 10 minutes and were seated inside. The Pilots Pancake breakfast was a massive portion of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. The bacon was smokey and cooked to perfection alongside sweet pancakes. My fiancé ordered the French toast and completely stuffed himself. I had to tap out before I could finish my pancakes. THE MOST IMPORTANT PART: We ordered a slice of Marion Berry Crunch Pie to go. Let me tell you...I am not typically a pie person but this was FANTASTIC. It was a mixture of sweet, tart, and crunchy rolled oats. I wish I ordered a whole pie honestly so I could have some leftovers. Will definitely be returning. read more

I came here on a Sunday morning with a party of 6 people and was blown away with how good their customer service was! When we got there, I walked in and asked to put our name in, and figured it be a 20 min wait about. I asked the waitress if the patio was open, and she said they weren't serving on the patio. It was a sunny morning btw. After about 10 minutes of waiting, the place just got busier and busier, which I think is why they decided to open the patio. Anyways, the lady came out and started offering people on the wait list patio seating, and we were more than happy to sit outside! Even with how busy they were, the food came out quick! We ordered: - Eggs Benny - Cinnamon Roll - Country Fried Steak - side of pancake - side of corned beef The food was delicious! I had the Eggs Benny and cinnamon roll. Both were great! I loved the kind of hashbrowns they had here. They were the perfect amount of chunky. The view was awesome too cuz we got to see a handful of fixed wing planes take off and land!
