On the way to Victoria via the Black Ball Ferry, we opted for a quick stop at Salty Girls in Sequim for lunch. This was on a Friday and the place was empty when we got there at 11:30. Ordering is usually done via QR code, but they are also happy to orders at the register. One thing to note: on our visit, the restaurant left the front door open and didn't turn on heating so we found it rather cold inside. Clam Chowder in Sourdough Bread Bowl ($14) - Salty Girls has one of the best preparations for chowder bread bowls I've encountered. They expertly hollow out the center as much as absolutely possible, leaving maybe only half an inch of bread on the sides (I think they use the trimmings to make their homemade croutons). This allows them to ladle in the maximal amount of clam chowder, much more than most I've had in the past. While I believe the bread is some commercial one, it has a distinct, but light, sourdough taste and doesn't have the overwhelming taste of stabilizers and preservatives that some bread bowls run into. It's toasted very nicely, giving a fantastic crust, while the interior bread remains light rather than dense, yet holds up to the chowder well. The chowder itself is pretty good. It's thickened, but still just runny enough to not feel like it's been over reduced. Not clumpy or super heavy as some other chowders. There's a strong herbal quality in the mix, combined with large pieces of clam and bacon. The amount of clam isn't very generous, but there's enough of the chewy mollusk to get at least a piece per spoonful. Lots of tender diced potato chunks complete the chowder. There's by far the most potato in terms of ingredients in this dish, making it very carb heavy. The chowder is served steaming hot and remains quite hot for a long while even in the cold air of the restaurant. (4/5) Crab Melt ($18) - Interesting open faced sandwich, with the crusty heel portion of a ciabatta roll, toasted until crispy on the flats, but still softer on the interior, albeit thin. It's topped with an ice cream scoop of crab salad. The salad is essentially tuna salad with the crab substituted for tuna. This means there's a ton of crab and not much filler - plenty of sweet shreds of crab meat, mixed with a couple of crunchy pieces of celery in a creamy sauce. The crab salad is then topped with cheese, then the entire creation is broiled until the cheese on top becomes bubbly and the cheese that flows down the sides of the bread becomes essentially a crunchy cheese skirt. Something to note, not necessarily a negative, is that the center of the crab salad scoops remains cold, which is in stark contrast to the warmed exterior. The dish comes with a side of ridged kettle chips. Robustly crunchy, simply salted. Surprisingly good to dip into the clam chowder in fact. (4/5) Salty Girls definitely serves some good seafood dishes. I certainly wouldn't mind returning the next time I'm in Seqium. Shrimp Cocktail Clam Chowder and Crab Roll.

Found another pet friendly place with great food. The service is excellent, welcoming and pretty prompt. The clam chowder is top notch, and my shrimp cocktail was a cut above the usual, although requires peeling-in this case, worth the effort. I also recommend the PG Fizz. The outdoor parking isn't "very covered" but nice. They don't have a specific dog friendly item on the menu, but mixed up a side of rice and bacon in a bowl, which worked well. My wife was very happy with her Crab Melt.

I had a chill dinner with friends on a Friday night. Order from a QR code or head straight up to the counter, if you have questions. We ordered the pound of mussels, which were well cooked and plump, though there was one that was closed - the sauce wasn't that flavorful, as it was mostly butter and I felt like it was missing some herbs. Crab roll was refreshing and good on a buttery brioche, would order again. Bowl of clam chowder was delicious, I liked the texture of the veggies as they were chopped into smaller pieces and cooked well. Slices of bread were the cherry on top! We were indecisive about the oysters, so we got a flight with 3 of each Sweet Creaks, Cairns, Sapphires, and Miyakis. These took a while to arrive, and we were almost done with our entrees by the time we dug into these, but they were deliciously fresh and came with two mignonettes. With three beers, tip, and a credit card fee, our total came it about $150 which felt like a lot for the experience. Service-wise, folks were friendly behind the counter but nobody checked in on us and we went up to the counter to grab extra plates, waters, etc.

Food was delicious and brought out super quick. Easy to order with QR code or at bar. Very chill vibe. Would definitely eat here again

Chunky chowder

Get their clam chowder, a MUST. Especially if you appreciate chunky chowder with a ton of flavor. Their drink selection is decent, with several good drafts on tap. Service is terrific - very friendly and attentive. Personal preferences: The fish tacos could use some chopped jalapeño salsa and the grilled tuna should include the horseradish mayo on the side, rather than added upon serving.

Clams, Oysters, bread-bowl clam chowder, prawn cocktail and draft Coconut Stout were superb. Excellent Service. Ordered by phone once sat at table. Great experience.

Poke

Had the rockfish tacos and poke. Food was a bit overpriced and mediocre. The rockfish tacos were a bit plain. The rice for the poke could be softer and the sauce was a bit too pungent with horseradish.

Everything was delicious. I am a picky oysters eater, I like this size. I really couldn't tell the difference with the sauce but it was delicious. I had a taste of the crab melt, good. Fish tacos were tasty and too filling for me especially while trying to also eat the clam chowder. Clam chowder was a creamy chunky goodness. The root beer was yummy too (not pictured) I would come back! Space inside and out. Ordered at the bar or from your phone.

Had between 2, dozen raw, dozen baked, in garlic butter, parmesan, Amazing, well presented, and cold lager, yummy, want to try mussels next time, reasonable pricing

Clam chowdah. More clams than chowdah, which is exactly what you need.

You know that daydream you have about vacation, when you're sitting in the sun and salt water is not far away and you're having a cold adult beverage with family or friends... and work, dirty laundry, bills, and that weird noise your car is making that sounds expensive seem like they don't even exist anymore? This place tastes like that feeling. We had the steamed Manila clams, which were perfectly cooked and came with an abundance of salty buttery cooking juice that you need to soak bread in. Pro tip, ask for extra bread. We have the clam chowder, which was generously studded with both clams and potatoes. Probably as many clams as potatoes which is awesome because clams are expensive. My son had the crab melt, which was the same crab salad I had in the crab roll, but warm and served on toasted ciabatta with melted cheddar. I had the crab roll which was served on a toasted brioche bun. It was delicious and fresh not frozen crab meat with just enough mayonnaise to get it to hold together. It is counter service, so keep that in mind. Nevertheless the service was attentive despite the Sunday afternoon vacation crowds. Life is definitely better if you have a salty girl in your life!

You have to come here. Everyone is very nice and the food is amazing. Ask for extra bread with the muscles because the sauce is the best.

I was starving and asked for bread out quick which they accommodated despite it not being on the menu as an app. We had a little lag for our food, but they were slammed busy, not a single spot open at the bar or the tables. After a first attempt where a restaurant's hours were not updated, we found Stymie's in Sequim. It's one of the restaurants at Cedars at Dungeness golf course (the other one is Double Eagle Steak and Seafood). It seems to be the more casual of the two options and we opted for it since we were in hiking clothes. The hostess told us we could walk in and try to find a table. She warned us it might be a long wait. Thankfully, we found a place to sit right away and a waiter gave us waters and a menu. We ordered cups of clam chowder to start. Thankfully they were out quickly. We got drinks while we waited for our food. The Dungeness crab Mac and cheese was listed as an appetizer, so we assumed it was a small portion. My husband got the fish and chips and I got pasta with shrimp. We got our entrees first, so we thought maybe the waitress had forgotten we ordered the Mac and cheese since they were so busy. She then apologized for the wait and said she'd be bringing it out shortly. We weren't planning on asking about it because their portions are very generous and even though we were hungry, we realized it was so much food. When the Dungeness crab Mac and cheese finally came out, it wasn't in a small cup, it was a whole bowl of delicious goodness. The Mac and cheese was resting in some sort of sauce and they were extremely generous with the crab. I loved that you could control the ratio with each bite. I wish I had taken pictures of the menu and its description, but all you need to know is that it's the BEST Mac and cheese I've ever had. I was floored that it wasn't mentioned in any review nor pictures. Maybe it's a new addition. Don't walk, RUN if you're nearby. You won't regret it and it will be worth the wait. I forgot all about my entree and just focused on the Mac.

It was sweet and buttery so I didn't even need to add syrup or butter to my French toast! Vegetable omelette was super yummy and we are super appreciative that the server was able to substitute potatoes and toast for squash due to Jon's dietary needs. The bad: They only serve drip coffee. We live in Sequim! They really need to step up their coffee game and offer lattes and expressos. I ordered OJ. They were out of OJ. Really? The ugly: My over easy eggs were UGLY.... Both eggs were broken and one was overcooked. So relieved they did good and replaced them with yummy over easy eggs. The other ugly (which caused the 4 star review) is how EXPENSIVE this restaurant is. Jon ordered a vegetarian omelette $18 plus $3 salsa plus $3 avocado plus $3 change of potato and toast to squash.
