Steak, mash, broccoli

I was expecting more than what I experience. First of all , I didn't knew that I had to make reservations to dine in (which was not on their website). I came from 3 hours away and by the time I got there they told me I have to wait 30 minutes because I didn't call to reserve a table. After 30 minutes of waiting the lady told me I had to wait another 30 minutes because there was no space, after waiting for almost 1 hour I approached the person in charge pointing that there was several empty booths, which she replied by saying that they were reserved . I have to mention that no one sat in those booths for a couple hours.. I pretty much wait for an hour and a half. Don't get me started on the food, I order steak, mash, broccoli and that meal was the smallest meal I had for the amount of $60. Can you believe it for the small steak. Steak has flavor but just really dry. Mash potatoes is really bland and also was the broccoli. Don't waste your time going here, it isn't worth it.

The menu and food is so good...that I checked out at the counter and forgot my computer at the patio table where we were also allowed to have our dog - Phineas! Honestly, both of our lunches were exceptional, the server and the service were great. We were on a six week summer vacation visiting many restaurants and arriving from Victoria Canada, at this cool cafe. We drove off to Palm Springs bragging about the food and service and realized three hours later, no computer...But Manager Savanna and her wonderful team went - way out of their way - to arrange for my computer to be sent to my home. Now that's Class and America at its best! Thanks, Savanna!

Fish and chips

We had been wanting to stop into this cute little cafe for a while and the timing was never right-'to think of all times o could have had the BEST fish and chips ever! I kick myself. We both ordered the fish and chips (3 generous portions of cod) and it did not disappoint. The fish is dipped into a tempura batter that is light and crispy in a delicate way that does not over power the fish. The waffle cut fries and seasoning was so good! A stand out star was the coleslaw that is dressed for each order so it's crunchy and fresh (anyone who loves coleslaw knows this is a pro move ). We would have loved to order dessert but we were stuffed! Highly recommend! Ambiance is casual and our server Megan was a Delight!!

Old Mill Cafe is a staple in town that I waited forever and a day to try. Sent with a good old fashioned burger loaded with blue cheese and bacon along with some waffle fries. Burger was juicy and fries were crispy. Everyone in our party was satisfied. Service was quick and friendly for a large party of 7. Great place to hold meetings or for family gatherings or outings if you are looking to eat out in the town or on the road if you are heading to Forks or Lake Crescent. Ambiance is small town cozy antique hunting vibes. There are fun things to peek at throughout the restaurant on the walls and along the hallways. I've heard the prime rib is outstanding. Will be back for that one day.

BLTCA sandwich & torte

Had the BLTCA ( bacon lettuce tomato cheddar avocado ) it was amazing!! For dessert I had the gluten free chocolate torte & it was delicious. I'm definitely coming back, thankyou!

We hoped to go here for dinner yet due to time constraints and scheduling, we went for breakfast as either way we wanted to ensure a visit. The interior is fun, with lots of nods to a former logging mill and the logging culture of the area. The food is homestyle cooking with menu items like biscuits and gravy. There was some confusion over what one of us ordered, as two menu items are slightly similar - the chicken fried steak and the chicken fried cubed steak sandwich. We had order one but got the other. That was fine. Everyone enjoyed their food - the breakfast potatoes in particular were crisp and yummy. Service with a smile.

Biscuit and gravy, poached egg and breakfast potatoes.

Great food, great service, and reasonable prices, this place is a home run. The onion rings are worth the trip.

This place is nasty. Last time I went my table was so sticky and had sugar ants crawling all over my table and food plate. Will not be back.

Ask the Community - Old Mill Cafe

I see the fish & chips are highly recommended. Are the chips actually chips (Fries) or did I see waffle fries? There is a difference between the two.

They're waffle fries. I asked if I could get regular fries and the waitress said no.

After a first attempt where a restaurant's hours were not updated, we found Stymie's in Sequim. It's one of the restaurants at Cedars at Dungeness golf course (the other one is Double Eagle Steak and Seafood). It seems to be the more casual of the two options and we opted for it since we were in hiking clothes. The hostess told us we could walk in and try to find a table. She warned us it might be a long wait. Thankfully, we found a place to sit right away and a waiter gave us waters and a menu. We ordered cups of clam chowder to start. Thankfully they were out quickly. We got drinks while we waited for our food. The Dungeness crab Mac and cheese was listed as an appetizer, so we assumed it was a small portion. My husband got the fish and chips and I got pasta with shrimp. We got our entrees first, so we thought maybe the waitress had forgotten we ordered the Mac and cheese since they were so busy. She then apologized for the wait and said she'd be bringing it out shortly. We weren't planning on asking about it because their portions are very generous and even though we were hungry, we realized it was so much food. When the Dungeness crab Mac and cheese finally came out, it wasn't in a small cup, it was a whole bowl of delicious goodness. The Mac and cheese was resting in some sort of sauce and they were extremely generous with the crab. I loved that you could control the ratio with each bite. I wish I had taken pictures of the menu and its description, but all you need to know is that it's the BEST Mac and cheese I've ever had. I was floored that it wasn't mentioned in any review nor pictures. Maybe it's a new addition. Don't walk, RUN if you're nearby. You won't regret it and it will be worth the wait. I forgot all about my entree and just focused on the Mac.

We also very clearly were done with our food (napkins on empty plates, plates pushed to the middle), and even though we kept making eye contact with multiple of the servers, we didn't get our check for almost 45 minutes. All 6 of the tables that came in after us ALL left before we even got our check. It looked like there were three servers for about 15 tables, so there was no reason we should have been waiting that long or not get checked on at all.

This was a pleasantly surprising experience as a vegan…read more My friend and I came in to celebrate as we are in town for hiking trip but wanted to do one nice dinner out. She made reservations and chose outdoors, not realizing it would be so cold, so I was freezing in my cotton dress. When I asked if they had any heaters, they kindly offered blankets so I took two and bundled myself up. For the amuse bouche, we got a radish with baba ghanoush and some sort of blackberry balsamic. For the first course, I got shishito peppers with baba ghanoush. The peppers weren't too spicy and paired well with the baba ghanoush. It's not something I would have probably sought out to eat myself so it was nice to have something different. For the main course, I got a shiitake, oyster mushroom rice noodle curry. This was surprisingly filling to the point that I had to waste some of the rice noodles. For dessert, I got a pear ginger blackberry fruit crisp. It was nice that you could taste that it wasn't made with a bunch of added sugar or anything. My friend got the other vegan dessert which was a coconut tapioca pudding, which I also tried, and was nice and light and tart, with some figs at the top. Service was great. Our server asked right off the bat about dietary restrictions so I told her vegan, no honey for myself. There was a very long gap between course 1 and course 2 which may have led to me getting full earlier than anticipated, and then the gap between the entree and dessert wasn't as vast. Our entire dinner took about two hours at Nourish, 7-9pm, which is longer than we expected, but the food was a pleasant experience. As a vegan, a little more protein was top of mind when reading the menu, but I love that they created good vegetable based dishes without any mock meats or excess sodium or processed ingredients. My friend also really enjoyed her food. Priced at $78 per person, it's a nice night out. We recommend.

Ordering is usually done via QR code, but they are also happy to orders at the register. One thing to note: on our visit, the restaurant left the front door open and didn't turn on heating so we found it rather cold inside. Clam Chowder in Sourdough Bread Bowl ($14) - Salty Girls has one of the best preparations for chowder bread bowls I've encountered. They expertly hollow out the center as much as absolutely possible, leaving maybe only half an inch of bread on the sides (I think they use the trimmings to make their homemade croutons). This allows them to ladle in the maximal amount of clam chowder, much more than most I've had in the past. While I believe the bread is some commercial one, it has a distinct, but light, sourdough taste and doesn't have the overwhelming taste of stabilizers and preservatives that some bread bowls run into. It's toasted very nicely, giving a fantastic crust, while the interior bread remains light rather than dense, yet holds up to the chowder well. The chowder itself is pretty good. It's thickened, but still just runny enough to not feel like it's been over reduced. Not clumpy or super heavy as some other chowders. There's a strong herbal quality in the mix, combined with large pieces of clam and bacon. The amount of clam isn't very generous, but there's enough of the chewy mollusk to get at least a piece per spoonful. Lots of tender diced potato chunks complete the chowder. There's by far the most potato in terms of ingredients in this dish, making it very carb heavy. The chowder is served steaming hot and remains quite hot for a long while even in the cold air of the restaurant. (4/5) Crab Melt ($18) - Interesting open faced sandwich, with the crusty heel portion of a ciabatta roll, toasted until crispy on the flats, but still softer on the interior, albeit thin. It's topped with an ice cream scoop of crab salad. The salad is essentially tuna salad with the crab substituted for tuna. This means there's a ton of crab and not much filler - plenty of sweet shreds of crab meat, mixed with a couple of crunchy pieces of celery in a creamy sauce. The crab salad is then topped with cheese, then the entire creation is broiled until the cheese on top becomes bubbly and the cheese that flows down the sides of the bread becomes essentially a crunchy cheese skirt. Something to note, not necessarily a negative, is that the center of the crab salad scoops remains cold, which is in stark contrast to the warmed exterior. The dish comes with a side of ridged kettle chips. Robustly crunchy, simply salted. Surprisingly good to dip into the clam chowder in fact. (4/5) Salty Girls definitely serves some good seafood dishes. I certainly wouldn't mind returning the next time I'm in Seqium.
