I've been here so many times in my early 20's but took a break since I moved and recently came back to meet up and catch up with one of my friends after almost two decades. We got here around 4:30-5pm a few weeks ago and it was pretty quiet so we sat at the bar. We both got a couple of margaritas on their happy hour menu, she got a salad and I got a sandwich and everything was delicious. Only gripe I had was how long it took to get our food and drinks despite us being two of the only people there. This place has a great local bar/restaurant vibe, which was really evident the night I was there when a World Cup game was on their screens. Beyond that, I can't say a lot to recommend it. Service was very slow and the server was absent-minded. My friend and I each ordered an entree. She ordered the fettuccine with prawns. After a 40 minute wait, the dishes were served. My friend said her pasta was good. It was a rich and creamy sauce but not overly thick and she said the prawns were very good. She asked for some fresh ground pepper or a pepper mill but the server said they have none and seemed confused by the request. I ordered the fish and chips. The first time they brought it out, the fish batter was soggy, the fries barely cooked, and the tartar sauce heated to the point of separation. It took me a little while to flag down the waiter and once I did he offered to have it warmed or remade. There was no acknowledgment that it was cold and it had obviously come up long before it was served. When it came back out, the two pieces of fish were crispy, but they had absolutely no flavor. There were about 12-15 shoestring fries on the plate, also without any flavor. At this point I ate most of one piece because my blood sugar was dropping and I had no other option. There was no interest in taking home the rest of the dish. I can imagine that a huge crowd might have thrown off the staff but when we sat down at a table on the patio, it was prior to the start of the game and there were only two other 2-tops seated. My family and I went this weekend for a small birthday gathering, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. Everything on the menu felt severely overpriced for what you actually get. The food was just okay--not bad, but definitely not worth the price point. The service was much slower than expected, especially for a place that presents itself as more upscale. We sat for quite a while waiting on items, which was frustrating considering the restaurant wasn't packed. That said, our server had a very, very pleasant attitude, and I do want to acknowledge that. The drinks were also overpriced, which didn't help the overall experience. On a positive note, they did have a cute little band playing outside, which was a nice touch and probably the highlight of the visit. What really threw things off was the atmosphere. There were a group of ladies sitting behind us being extremely loud, and all we could hear was constant profanity. At no point did management step in. I had my teenage child with me, and it just wasn't appropriate for a Sunday afternoon. That's something management should absolutely stay on top of, not everyone wants to deal with that while trying to enjoy a meal. What's disappointing is that I've been here before years ago and had an amazing experience--that's why we came back. This visit just didn't match that standard. 1515 was poppin' on a Saturday night ~ we arrived and the vibes were high. Even though our party sat indoors, I love the outdoor dining/area they offer with TVs to watch a future game on a weekend. Haven't been here in a while and I've been missing out! Fantastic service and drinks and food. It was a Friday night and other guests were also friendly. Blueberry Bliss drink was yummy and strong. The old fashioned was made well. Calamari was perfectly cooked and came with a fresh sauce. Had the BLTA with shoestring fries and forgot to take a picture because it looked so appetizing and didn't disappoint. No time for dessert as our group was off to dance! They have indoor & outdoor seating which you can choose. We sat inside and our waiter was great. He gave us some recommendations and we went from there. My I'm & daughter got the ribeye with potatoes & veggies. They were not impressed. Swapped out the potatoes for mashed potatoes which were better. Food is average and way overpriced for what you get ( the size of the scallops were no larger than a quarter --although the description on the menu state "jumbo" and $27 --not including the tax+20% tip + 3.75% credit card fee = $35/4, is close to $9 for each scallop TOTAL RIP OFF, as these type scallops are $10/pound and the 4 was no more than 1/2 lb. The most annoying is they nickel and dime you to death = they charge you a 3.75% fee for using a credit card, 20% included tip for totals over $100 (regardless of party size). The server totally upsells the most expensive items--for obvious reasons--so it's no better than being in a strip club. 4 ppl with 3 appetizers and drinks = $216 usd! 1 and done! read more

I remember 1515 is being a cool hip spot with good food in downtown Walnut Creek. While my daughter was shopping. I decided to go there for happy hour and invited a friend last minute. The happy hour menu included very few options. We sat outside in order to people watch and the servers did not pay much attention to us. We eventually ordered some buffalo cauliflower and a couple of drinks. The buffalo cauliflower was basically raw cauliflower, battered, and fried with buffalo sauce poured over the top. The fettuccine and garlic bread were delicious, though I wouldn't order the salad again; it was just okay. I was surprised that we were charged for the bread, even though it was really good. Our service was friendly and attentive; they were pleasant and helpful throughout the meal. The billing policies were a major issue. They automatically add 20% gratuity for all parties with a bill over $100, even though our pretax bill was only $98, and this policy was not listed anywhere on the menu. While the server mentioned it as a new rule, being forced to pay 20% regardless of service is frustrating. Additionally, there is a $4 credit card fee, and because we split the check, we each were charged this amount separately. This felt unnecessary and like price gouging; it's a restaurant, not a gas station, and customers shouldn't be penalized for using a debit or credit card. In summary, the food and service were good, but the hidden gratuity and credit card fees overshadowed the experience. Because of these billing practices, we will not be returning, despite enjoying the meal itself. read more

Came here for a quick bite after Oktoberfest and found exactly what I was looking for. We got a small pizza and wings to satiate what little hunger was left after the fest, and everything came out fresh and tasty. I recently celebrated my 40th birthday at 1515 Restaurant & Lounge, and it was a really great experience overall. It seems like there may have been a recent change in ownership (or at least something has shifted), because everything felt dialed in. The food, drinks, and service all stood out in a good way. The chicken parm actually had real flavor, which sounds simple, but isn't always a given, and my wife absolutely loved her lamb. You can tell there's some good things going into the kitchen right now. The drinks were also very well made. The only small note I'd give is that the espresso martini could use just a touch of cream to round it out, but that's a minor tweak. What really stood out, though, was the service. The hostess and bartender were both top notch - friendly, attentive, and genuinely elevated the entire experience. You can tell there's a strong focus on hospitality right now. I had a chance to have dinner with a group of friends at 1515 restaurant. I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. On this particular evening, four of us at the three course special and one of us had the seafood fettuccine and one of us at the fish and chips. Updated review for this place. We used to frequent here on and off and it has always been nice, until tonight. So here's the good, the bad and the ugly... Upon entering, we grabbed a spot at the bar with no issue and were waited on promptly. That was the good. The bad is it smelled awful. Dude, turn on some ventilation! We were already there, so we had 1 drink and bounced. We just couldn't stand it any more. The ugly is the half naked drunk 'ladies and gentlemen' being obnoxious. (Side note. When I first typed the last sentence auto correct changed 'naked' to 'baked'. That was correct also.) I sure hope no one was driving home. Oh and may as well throw in the real ugly.... As we were walking out I noticed 2 little kids sitting at a table by themselves with paper and crayons and empty small glasses. Child size glasses. Great let's bring the kids while we get drunk and act inappropriate. As we were walking out they looked up at us hoping we would take them with us. I went here last night with my sister, and I was so pleased with everything. The service was quick to be seated. Once we were seated, our waiter immediately greeted us. We ordered drinks and appetizers and continue to look over the menu, which took quite a while to decide exactly what we wanted to eat because the menu had so many things that looked delicious. My sister landed on the lollipop pork chops, which were made to perfection and came with the most delectable sauce and mashed potatoes and carrots. The entire plate was to die for. I got the seafood platter that had shrimp, salmon, and scallops, and it was amazing. The scallops were so buttery and the tiger shrimp were so flavorful. You can never go wrong with salmon. It also came with the scalloped potatoes in the form of a lasagna with cheese in between the layers. Delicious! But the star of the show had to be the Rockefeller oysters. They are topped with this delicious sauce as well as spinach, bacon Asiago cheese and breadcrumbs baked to perfection. I will definitely be back. Meh. This place was not a winner for me. It is very basic food with extremely slow service. The deviled eggs was a very odd plating with two strips of bacon crisscrossed on the plate and sad deviled eggs scattered around. I would place a wager that they use the pre packaged whites... the chicken picatta was just ok. The sauce needed more lemon.. I do have to say this, the mashed potatoes with cheese were very good. I checked the menu before hand and they had a nice brunch menu which was nice. I dont recall anything mentioning it was only for weekends, so when I got there and asked, I was disappointed that they didn't have it available. Had to check out the menu again and decided on the chicken club with sweet potato fries. Also our group ordered a Hurricane pitcher, which was basically rum juice. The drinks came and it was excellent. Almost too good and dangerous. Luckily we kept it to one pitcher only. Food came out. My sandwich was very delicious. Perfect size, included a grilled chicken breast some bacon and tomato and lettuce and some kinda sauce and grilled sourdough. It was really good highly recommend. Fries were excellent as well, perfectly fried. Only knock was the place felt cold. The left the doors open for some reason on this unusually chilly day. I get that the servers were probably hot while the ran around, but I feel like the temp should suit the customers and not the workers? They did close early (9 instead of 10) because there weren't a ton of people, which was unfortunate because we would have stayed longer. But I guess that makes sense from a business perspective. 2. First of all we waited at least 15 minutes at the bar before anyone acknowledged us. (This was after coming in and standing at the front for a few minutes waiting for a hostess or someone to come and offer a seat. No one came so there were open seats at the bar and I selected that.) we came at 5 PM on a Sunday. The restaurant and bar were not busy. The waiter who did finally come was nice. The martini was actually made perfect with the ice crystals on top. Food was decent. One thing I hate to even mention, but I'm going to is the attire of the staff. One girl had on a half top with her stomach tattoos showing. Everyone else had pretty casual, cheap looking clothing. If you're paying $42 for a steak there should be some sort of ambience and maybe something that is just a little bit extra. They are charging high end prices & offering a subpar experience. No one went out of their way in the slightest. Also, if your bill is over $100 they add a 20% gratuity. This is in small font on the menu. It is also in very small print on the actual receipt, I'm sure that is overlooked often & ppl tip way too much. They also charge a credit card fee. Cant say we received any service worthy of 20% gratuity & I'm a generous tipper. We used to come here more regularly and have not been in quite some time.
