I came here to get my nails done with my friend and I had a decent experience. My regular pedicure was legit 15 minutes long which was so disappointing. The lady didnt scrub my feet, didnt massage, she didnt do anything except cut my nails, remove the old nail polish and put new nail polish. Ive gotten regular pedicures at a million other salons and they always do a little massage and scrub the bottom of my feet. Leah did my powder manicure and she did a great job. My nails came out beautiful and she took her time. They had lots of colors and the salon was beautiful. However, I would never go there for a pedicure again. Ran an hour behind and then took longer than they said it would to do the inspo nails she showed them prior to appointment. - rate is definitely on the pricey side - really push when it comes to upselling - if you buy a spa package that comes with foot massage you get a leg massage instead even though you emphasize please focus on foot like listed on spa menu. Had to make an appointment at this salon because my regular go to had no availability. I have previously been to this salon, but had to stop since they do not always answer the phone or honor your appointment time. I made an appointment for 1:30 and was happily surprised they took me early. The salon is new, clean and bright. There are tons of polishes and many nail stations. Tools are from a sealed package. Parking can be hit or miss. Some salons have a relaxing atmosphere, and in my opinion this salon is not one of them. The phone constantly rings, and it's always packed. Perhaps that's why they often don't honor appointment times? I find it loud with people constantly arriving and leaving. If you're looking for a good manicure/pedicure ($32), don't mind a noisy surrounding, and perhaps have some extra time to spare, then you should be satisfied. read more

My friend and I came to 156 for the first time today and We didn't have an appointment however they were very kind and took us for two pedicures. The space is large clean and they have many poly glasses up for covid-19. They do not do every other seat they do occupy each seat so yes someone will be sitting next to you. However All of the staff are wearing mask and gloves. We both chose the cucumber spa pedicure and it included a cream that goes on your legs and they wrap it and they also use a cream to massage you for 10 min. For $30 we were pleased. We took a business card so that we could set an appointment for the next time to find that in the back of the card you can get it signed so after 10 visits you get a free manicure. We got parking in the front didn't realize there was a lot so next time I will be parking in the back. read more

I really don't like writing bad reviews, but this one is necessary. The lady who did my toes was fine, I sadly don't remember her name. However, the lady who did my fingers (name started with an M) over-filed them to the point that you could see the red of my nail bed. I didn't think much of it, but then I casually hit my nail, and it broke my real nail right in half! Now it's bleeding, bruised, and SO painful. I've never experienced this with any other place. Ive been to the salon 3-4 times now, mostly due to proximity to where I live. I usually get an SnS manicure and a regular pedicure. The first two times I got an SNS manicure, the nails started lifting on my thumbs. Reason why I came back was because they gave me a three dollar coupon and it was close to where I live. And I'm glad I did. For V day i got another SNS manicure, was charged $15 for a chrome top coat and $5 for nail designs on 2 nails. I posted a picture of my nails. You NEED to fire May and Ferry. The store was beautiful and peaceful and has been my nail place for years but whenever I walk into the store i'm constantly trying to be up-charged. Also it is VERY expensive, I get powder gel with tips. That itself is $55 a fill in is $40, not that bad until you break one, ONLY ONE nail, and your total is now $45. If you get a design it's ten times more expensive too. May was very rude to me during the nail service. I have also never had poor nails or nail beds but I walked into the store to get a fill in a few days ago and they tell me that I will have a fungus on my nails if I don't go back within two weeks. The nails I get should last up to around three to four weeks, I was so unhappy with the service I was provided I went to a different salon to get my nails off. My nails were extremely brittle when they shouldn't have been, it indeed was because the nail techs tend to over file your nails until you have none left. Overall nice place, some nail techs are rude but mostly nice, and extremely expensive. read more

This place is very pretty inside. It is very aesthetically pleasing and relaxing. However, I walked in and found this place to be packed with people. If you are COVID cautious this might not be the place for you. I wanted white powder nails. Overall, it was cute and kind of resembled the picture I brought in. Throughout the process, the nail technician seemed quite tired or frustrated to be filling down the nail so much and it was not a nice demeanor to see. I have reviewed this place before, and I gave it stellar reviews based on my previous experiences. However, after my most recent time there, I have decided I can no longer be a loyal customer. I have removed both my 4-star and the updated 5-star reviews. I first want to say that I've been quite happy with the work I've had done here. My issue is not with the manicures I've had. (For the most part. There have been times where the polish cracked within a week. I came in for them to fix it, which they did. No issues there - just no [subpar] massage as in the first time lol. Sometimes my nail was not filed perfectly straight, of which I didn't take note until I got home, so that's on me.) Back to larger issues at hand... I guess I overlooked this before, but... There are COMMUNICATION issues amongst the employees, or between employee and customer. (No, I'm not talking about a language barrier.) For the latter, I think that the employee should remember to bear in mind the idea that "the customer is always right." This is your business after all, and you want your customers to be happy. At least one would think. And my particular issue is with only one person: the woman at the front desk, who seems to be the one that answers the phone and schedules appointments. (Note in the previous paragraph that I state the EMPLOYEE - yes, singular - should remember the customer is always right.) Before I get my nails done, I like to have an idea of what theme/color combination/design, etc., that I would like on my nails. But that never stops me from perusing and mixing and matching colors on the shelves of nail polish. This probably goes for most if not all customers. So why, lady at the front, is it a problem when my mom was picking up nail polish bottles to have a better idea of what she'll be PAYING you to apply to her nails? She's not even misplacing any of the bottles. She is QUIETLY COMPARING DIFFERENT COLORS AND DECIDING WHAT SHE WOULD PREFER BEST FOR HER PEDICURE. You know, the one she's PAYING your employees to do? And yet, lady at the front, you have the audacity to stride over to her and sternly tell her, "Put it back." May I be so bold as to say... What the heck is the matter with a CUSTOMER looking at YOUR PRODUCTS that she will PAY for you to use on her? (This was a few weeks ago.) Ok so fast forward to our most recent (and last) time at 156: We arrive at 5:15pm, for an appointment I had made over the phone earlier in the week (for 5:15). I know that most of the employees are not very fluent in English, but I was crystal-clear on the phone when I stated that I am making a 5:15 appointment for a manicure for myself, AND a pedicure for my mom. That's TWO people. Ok so continuing with this most recent (AND LAST) time at 156: One of the employees takes me to get my manicure. I figure that my mom is probably just going to wait for a few minutes at the front. Halfway into my manicure, I look behind me at the seats where customers get pedicures. I don't see my mom getting her pedicure, and I didn't have my glasses on so I assume she's still waiting. A few minutes later, my mom comes behind me and says, "I thought I was supposed to be at 5:15?" I say that I thought that's what was communicated. Since I'm still waiting for my nails to be finished, my mom speaks to the lady at the front (remember her?) and inquires about her pedicure. Lady at the front denies that there is an appointment for 2, says it is only for 1 person. Well, lady at the front, I KNOW I was not vague whatsoever when I made the appointment. Lady at the front tells my mom that she cannot accommodate my mom because they are very busy (yes it's Friday, and they were busy, but there were empty seats, and turnover wasn't that slow; TBH, she almost certainly could have accommodated her). Over these past few months, my mom began to enjoy having pedicures, and we made it a mother-daughter bonding experience to have our nails done together (manicure for myself, pedicure for her) biweekly or so. She was looking forward to her next pedicure which was supposed to be during our most recent (and, again, our LAST) experience there. On this day, my mom's day was ruined because of this insensitive, UNMANNERLY LADY AT THE FRONT. I would like to extend an apology to all the other employees, because you have been dolls for the most part (hence the 2 stars instead of 1 star). I believe you should give others the benefit of the doubt, but to treat my mother (or any person, for that matter) in that way, on different occasions, UNPROVOKED, is not excusable and warrants you losing my - excuse me, OUR - business. read more

The first time, they were overbooked and didn't have time to do my pedicure so they rushed it in 10 minutes and did a TERRIBLE job. 2nd time, they did my nails , the SNS cracked in 3 days - I came back and she fixed it without an issue, then my nail cracked AGAIN (3 of them) - they made me wait 45 minutes before seating me, gave me attitude and whispered in their language in front of me, and then did not even apologize. These folks are horrible. I've been coming here for two years and would have my nails done by Icy. She left a while ago but it seems like no one can get it right at 156. They all do a very sloppy job and do not take accountability nor do they want to fix it. I had it with them and finally will be looking for a new spot. Ps I asked to have my eyebrows cleaned up. I've come to this salon multiple times to try different ladies and let me just begin with they are okay with nails but the last lady completely ruined the salon experience for me forever! Her name is ANNA. From the minute I sat down she had an Attitude very hostile, (I figured maybe it was due to me being 5 minutes late, so I just ignored it) she was very rough with my nails, especially while filing and removing the cuticles, my skin was to the point of bleeding and on the sides of my nails, and underneath my nails, my skin became detached from my actual nail, which lasted about 2 to 3 weeks for them to heal. She never once asked me the shape of the nail I wanted so, she made them super square when I realized she was doing square I said I would like to do almond to which she responded with an attitude She said that's $5 extra which I replied to "is that something new because I've never been charged to change the shape of my nail" and she said no always so I said OK when she shaped my nails it was the worst shaped nails I've ever seen. They are chunky miss proportionate and are so uneven one looks worse than the other. Regardless of having the worst service of my entire life, I still tipped her. I wasn't going to leave a review, but the fact that I'm never gonna go back to the salon because of this experience, I felt I had the right to warn other people do not go to Anna, the harsh service that I experienced should never happen in a salon specialist since I'm paying for the service. Overall I like this nail salon, at first I told myself I wouldn't go back because twice in a row they put a girl who was training to do my nails and I'm very picky with my nails but I decided to give them another chance and now the owner knows how i like my nails and she makes sure that I like them which I really appreciate because I go there all the time. If you aren't liking the way something is done just explain it to them and I'm pretty sure they will take care of you , it'll be worse if you don't say anything and wait till the end. I've been coming to this salon for about 2 years and they've always been my go to place. After today, I'll probably find another salon to go to. I came in for a powder manicure and regular pedicure. To make a long story short, my entire session was rushed so the nail tech could get to her next appointment. My pedicure was rushed except for the 10 minute massage because it was timed. The powder manicure was apparently a race against the clock. At one point she was filing on top of my fingers and staring at the clock since her next client was anticipated to come in at 1pm (it was 12:55.) I told her that my fingers were bleeding and I got a sheepish "sorry" and continued to rush through. At 1 she was shooed away by another tech so she could start another pedicure. No medicated ointment or real attempt to stop the bleeding was made by any of the techs that came to finish her work. I piped up again when my hands were sprayed with the alcohol and lotion mixture because it BURNED. Even though I was visably upset and shaking, I was still expected to pay $70. They gave me a gift certificate with all the apologies that I had "soft cuticles" and that's why this happened. I'm so disappointed. read more

I have came here before and the service was completely different. Today....it was just disgusting. From the time I walked in, the girl at the front desk looked pissed she had, not one, but 2 (came with my sister) clients. I was choosing my polish when my sister stepped out for 2 seconds as she got a phone call. The girl at the front came up to me and asked if she was leaving as they close at 7:30 and it wouldn't give them enough time. It was exactly 6:15 when she told me this. Then the lady that did my pedicure, she was acting really nasty and you can see she was annoyed, not sure if she just didn't want to work. Anywho, my review is based on customer service alone. I used to frequent here since it is local. I've given this place many chances but they seem to get worse every time. It wouldn't matter if you made an appointment even for the first slot of the day, you would still have to wait. They have regulars which they greet sweetly but to newcomers, they rush through the whole process instead of making it a relaxing experience. Whenever I get the SNS dip powder done here, they always leave it super thick and it would crack within a week. I came back several times to let them fix it and they would be very annoyed and quickly "fix" it just for it to crack within a few days again. They are pretty rough because they are rushing so sometimes they would nick my cuticles. If you are Covid cautious, please steer clear of this place. They do not seat every other for pedicures like how they slotted the partitions for, when they are busy; all the chairs are taken with many waiting. Been coming to this salon for a long time now and have never had an issue. Salon is always very clean, services have always been spot on and prices are fair. With that said my daughter and I usually get sensitive eyebrow waxing's done on top of our regular services, this is normally never a problem except for yesterday. After having my brows waxed I felt like I may have been bleeding on my R side or otherwise raw however since my skin was inflamed all around it was hard to tell at the moment. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed a burn like mark on my R eyelid. I put some neosporin on it thinking nothing of it but woke up today with a swollen eye. The treatment at 156 Nail Spa is so negative and horrendous. This establishment is RACIST, DISRESPECTFUL, RUDE, and UNGRATEFUL TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. I had to do a last minute manicure, because I was leaving town for a work trip for a few days. My experience here has never been good, even though I've given them a couple of chances. I actually found a very nice nail salon then I've been going to but 156 is closer to my house and since it was a last minute trip the other salon (the good salon, which is smaller was booked). Against my better judgment and because I was desperate, I booked an appointment on the phone with Emily for a mani-pedi. During my manicure, my tech. Shelly had a major attitude. She was just in an overall bad mood. I think something happened with her and another tech before I walked in because she was fighting with her coworker while doing my manicure. Her bad mood was very off-putting. It was clear that she didn't want to be at work and that's she didn't want to be doing my nails. She rushed the entire process. I even asked her why she's rushing and she said mani&pedi is 30 mins combined. Since when is a manicure AND pedicure a total of 30 mins. She was rushing to be done with her job. Mind you, this wasn't even late at night...this was mid day. My manicure was totally gone in less than 24 hours! Not even chipped, just straight gone in less than 24 hours. That is unacceptable. I paid for a service and it wasn't even rendered. I called the salon and spoke to Emily and explained to her everything that happened. She told me to come in and that they would do a polish change. The problem with that is that I was traveling. I left NY the day after my mani and pedi. I told her this and told her that I won't be back in NY for a few weeks due to my work trip. She said, that's okay, and for to come in when I get back. Fast forward to today, I went in to the salon for my polish change. I mentioned to the young lady on the phone when I made my appointment that I previously spoke to Emily and she told me to come in for a polish change. She she ok and put me on the schedule. I told her on the phone to please mention it to Emily. I get to the salon and the front desk girl tells me to choose a color. I asked her if she mentioned my appointment with Emily, she said she did. Now, the drama starts...again. I had two colors in my hand I was deliberating on. When the front desk girl told me my station was ready she asked which color I was choosing. I told her I'm still deciding between these two. She said, verbatim..."you can't WALK with these nail polishes in your hand because you might take one. I have to take it there for you because you are not allowed." I have never been so disrespected in an establishment in my life! It's clear that Emily and her staff are super RACIST to anyone that isn't white. Do you really think I'm going to steal your nail polish? Get real! Still I decided to sit and get my make up service for a horrible job done. The nail tech tells me that I have to pay BEFORE she even starts. This is where I was confused. I told her the entire story and told her that EMILY said to come in for a color change. I also told her that I told this to the front desk when I booked my appointment. She calls Emily over. Emily literally looks at me and says that she never spoke to anyone on the phone and told them to come in for a color change to a bad manicure. That she doesn't remember that. I said, then how do I know the NAME of the person i spoke to on the phone if I didn't speak to anyone at all? She rolls her eyes and tells the girl to do nothing more than just a color change. As a business owner Emily is the spokesperson of WHAT NOT TO DO WHEN YOU OWN A BUSINESS. You never treat a customer this way, ever! Probably one of the worst mani/pedis of my life! I asked for color gel to be removed and they soaked it like usual. Then she was about to scrape it off like I usually have it done but then she gave up almost immediately and took out the drill buffer. I should have stopped her there because this happened once when I had a glitter gel on a nail. It was buffed out with the drill and my nail was weak for weeks! So she buffed every single one of my nails, then I saw she left a hole in my thumb nail! I showed her right away and of course she denied it! Also clipped my skin with cuticle cutter a few times and then seemed to give up on cleaning my cuticles and went through the motions instead of actually clipping. I've actually had many positive experiences from here but this one was awful and she still wanted to charge me $5 for gel removal!
