I think today I experienced my first encounter with racism. I went for a pedicure. I was the first person to walk in and I say about 5 minutes later another person walked in. I was the only minority in the spa. I waited like 20 minutes for them to sit me. I was placed in a broken chair and they took the person that walked in behind me to the working chair. And I kept asking the worker why did he put me in a broke chair and he said it wasn't a big deal. When I go to a spa I go for the massage chair and the massage on my legs and feet. As I'm sitting I'm noticing they massaged the other person longer was more pleasant with her. I paid my money just like her. I use to go to this place years ago and never was treated like I was treated today and I think it was because of my color. I could be wrong but I'm really feeling I'm not. I will never go back. What a day honestly, i never leave reviews for places because I usually have good experiences with the nail salons I've been to. I had an appointment at 12 for a UV gel fill in and a pedicure. The first problem was that the girl who was filing my nails wasn't listening to me at all. She asked if I wanted a coffin shape to which I replied, "very slight, but I really want them more straight please." Big surprise - she didn't listen. She filed them down to thin points. I said that I wanted them thicker because I was afraid they were going to break off at work. You could tell she was annoyed but what do you expect when you don't listen to your clients?? The second problem was how CHUNKY they were when Jessica redid them. She didn't even file them much when they were done. In the photos you can she how misshapen and rounded they are. The last and final problem was that I asked for Ombré but I didn't know there was a $15 upcharge for that. This is only the second time I've gone to her. Not once did she go out of her way to notify me that it was extra. After I paid, I went back in there to tell her that she was wrong for not notifying me of the difference in price. My old nail salon didn't charge nearly that much for ombré so I wasn't expecting that. She told me she could take it off if I came back later to which I said , "I'm not coming back later, I don't have time. I need them fixed now and I need my money back." I'll admit I was absolutely pissed but who wouldn't be if they were charged for something they didn't know they were paying for. Jessica started raising her voice at me which escalated into yelling. Finally, another customer there offered to pay the extra fifteen dollars which honestly almost made me cry. Jessica claimed that she charged me the same last time for a French tip so thank you for telling on yourself. You're nothing but a scammer and disrespectful and u professional. Moral of the story - Jessica WILL scam you and she will not tell you if there's an upcharge for something until the verrrrry end of the service. They have a sign that says no refunds once service is done so she knows exactly what she's doing. I'm upset that I even tipped her for the way she treated me. Things have been hard and I did not plan on being scammed out of money today. Do not go to Bellerose Nail and Spa. I'm going to try to dispute the charge with my bank so hopefully everything works out. For someone who has had 100% bad luck in the past with manicures and gel Mani's elsewhere, Jessica manages to work her magic every single time! I have been here twice. The first time, they told me that it was 33 for gel manicure then when I got there they added an extra 5 dollars for the soak off of my remaining gel manicure. When I told them they hadn't made this clear on the phone they didn't listen. Then when I went to pay they were extremely aggressive about the tip, asking for more money. Now, i always like to tip at least 15% and 20% for good service but the service was sub par and the manicure was rushed so I wanted to tip less to show my dissatisfaction. A tip is optional and subjective. No one should be fighting with me about a tip. Two years later, this past week, I accidentally made an appt here again thinking it was Jericho nails. Since I desperately needed a mani/pedi I just went thinking maybe they've gotten better with customer service. Nope. They're extremely rude in how they talked to me, got a gel mani and regular pedi in basically 45 min (which normally just my mani takes that amount of time) and they charged me the full amount of money even though they definitely rushed through my services. At the end the lady give me a two min massage after my manicure and it was just her squeezing my shoulders. It was very half hearted and then I went to pay tip, and I had two diff people (one for mani one for pedi) and the lady aggressively asks me "HOW MUCH TIP FOR TWO PEOPLE". First of all I didn't ask two diff people to serve me, that is on you so if you want me to tip twice the amount that is not going to happen. Just, save yourself the trouble and forget this place. First off, I had a scheduled appointment at 10 am for a pedicure and a powder tip fill in. I walked in and said I had a scheduled appointment, but the staff ignored that and I had to wait until the walk in clients were situated. The pedicure i got went well, but once it was over i had to explain many times that my nails were getting filled and i didn't need to soak them off for a new set as this fill would be my second fill in when I was there two weeks ago. After I convinced Jessica to do a fill in, i tried to pick out my color and I had to do more begging to do the same color I did for my last fill. After she let me get the color I wanted, I had to beg her to have my nails cut shorter as she refused to cut them until i said i needed my nails shorter for work. Then once my cuticles were being drilled, I saw some bright red and it burned when she sprayed the finishing spray. Once it was time to pay, she was asking for cash for a tip, but i had no cash on me so i had to do it on my card, but with two separate transactions. Next thing I know I'm being yelled at in front of the entire salon for tip money when the staff was being rude to me the whole time. I'm a local resident and have gone to this nail salon many times, but I have to agree with some of these reviews regarding the owner's bold/rude attitude at times. The staff does a wonderful job on the manicures and pedicures which is why I do go back, but only if I'm pressed for time because it's closer to my home. I will agree that the owner is friendly if she knows you and has her regular customers come back, but I will say that she will verbally order you to tip her staff in a manner that is a turn off. She calls it out from her station near the cash register across the salon-if you are sitting in the front drying your nails. I understand she might be looking out for her staff, but her delivery can be more professional. Plus, what I don't always like is that you get one person to do your nails, another person to do your pedicure and then she orders you to tip both, which of course I will, but I prefer having one person do both and that person gets a bigger tip. I go there when necessary, but will drive farther for a more pleasant, less rushed experience. I consider a day at the nail salon a time to be pampered and pleasant. read more

Fantastic job for gel manicure and French pedicure! I was catching a flight to Europe the very next day so I got my nails done for the first time at this salon. My nails and pedicure lasted for weeks while I was away! Furthermore, the staff went above and beyond for me. I left my phone at the nail salon and didn't realize until they closed. My flight was in the morning before the salon opened. I called my phone and Jessica answered it. She had driven home to the other end of Queens already, and for me, she drove all the way back to the salon to drop it back off to me!!! I wasn't even a regular customer- I couldn't believe it! I hate to do this but had to update my review. Since my last post, I have been going to Bellrose Nail religiously every 2 weeks for a gel manicure. Gigi, who I mentioned in my first review, went on maternity leave a while ago so I was forced to use their other staff. All of their staff are inconsistent but one in particular (Lily?) is especially terrible. My last 3 gel manicures have been with Lily and they have been the worst nail jobs ever. The polish cracks within the first week which never happened before. The corners of all my nails are breaking off and my real nails are so brittle now. I'm pretty sure she's either missing a step or she's not curing the nails long enough under the UV lamp. Either way, she's really bad. Complaining here doesn't work - they are not very receptive of criticism and I've seen the owner get very aggressive with customers. I rather stop coming here than deal with that. But I wanted to update my review because I felt it's unfair to the Yelp community who is relying on this one 5-star review. Like others, I agree that this place needs an overhaul. read more

When this first salon opened, I came here roughly about 3 times and I decided I would never return. This is all thanks to the owner- Jessica. She does not know the first thing about being courteous or professional. Unfortunately, my mom still comes in here sometimes for a quick mani pedi. Today, Jessica harassed my mother for an additional tip and when asked "what for?", Jessica responded that the nail technician has been working very hard today and she deserves an additional tip. However, the work done was very mediocre. First off, a tip is decided is by a customer and it is not mandatory. It is something that a person earns by doing great work. If Jessica thinks her employees are doing such a great job, she should be paying them more and not pocketing everything herself. A trip to the salon is supposed to be relaxing but definitely don't expect that at this place. Take your business elsewhere!! read more

You see I have been a regular client of this salon for three years maybe more but I only get my manicure and pedicure done here. Whilst Jessica isn't always happy go lucky on the phone I will attest that she is a very nice person once you get to know her.... Helena, did you stop to think that perhaps the reason she was asking you if you're ok it's because she wanted to establish a rapport with you so that whenever you return she will address you by your first name like she does almost all her clients.... Yes she also asked for the name of the person you went with so that she can also address her on a first name basis because in her eyes you are a human with a name and not just a client.... I don't know about you but if I walked into a business and the owners or the staff recognizes me and addresses me on a first name basis I will feel inclined to like the extra attention. It's all about perspective .... How you approach someone and how that person approaches you. Jessica, I'm sure is no saint she has her moments just like we all do but instead of posting negatively about such a trivial matter try being kind and grateful. At this salon I discovered hard gel nails. For those who don't know, hard gel nails are an alternative to regular manicures. First you get two layers of hard gel and on top of that, two layers of your color of choice. The result is beautiful, hard, shiny nails that will not break. This is all done while not harming your natural nail underneath. I love hard gel since my nails stay thin enough for me to carry on regular everyday activities (unlike arcrlic) without having to worry about my nails breaking.
