Tangy and Chocolate Frozen Yogurt
Sarah A.

A friend had been eyeing this frozen yogurt shop, so we stopped in. Service was friendly, there were vegan and non-dairy options, and we utilized the bar seating along the front window. I'd wanted strawberry froyo, but the handle was out, so I went with a combination of chocolate and tangy. Both were icier than expected, but generally refreshing. I liked that I could add the toppings myself.

16 handles is a fun play on the 80s coming of age movie '16 Candles'. They have a fun variety of flavors which are self serve. We tried all the flavors as part of our UWS ice cream crawl. We really like the Taro and their signature Tart flavor. Squid Ink is an honorable mention too!

Expensive, but tasty. We got a blue bowl and filled it to the top which came out to $15. Quite the price, but that's the city. We tried most of the flavors and our favs were mint, cookies and cream, and salted caramel. Highly recommend all of these! Love those sample cups which you get at the front.

This place is a great frozen yogurt shop! Lots of flavors and tons of toppings! But I have to say what really stood out for me was the salted caramel froyo. AMAZING. So salty and delicious. Was very surprised that it was so good. Some of the best ice cream I've had in the city haha. The restaurant is nice with a good amount of seating. We went close to closing time so some of the tables were stacked up and the bathroom wasn't accessible. The guy working the register was super chill and nice.

Now who is moronic enough to venture out into below-freezing temperatures to get a froyo? OK, I confess it was me. After all, you can take the old man out of California, but you can't take California out of a lactose-addicted geezer who needs something sweet before heading back to the hotel. Well, sweet but something low in fat and just enough sugar to satisfy. Was I asking too much? Sorta but at least I could combine a splooge of Arriba Coffee at 66 calories per ounce and another splooge of their nonfat Eurotart at 90 calories per ounce. I added a few fresh berries for good measure, and it totaled $6.53 (photo: http://bit.ly/2Nxx2Gk). It should come as no surprise that I was the only customer in here as I enjoyed my froyo in peace. Yep, it was worth it. FROYO - 4 stars...tasty without being too creamy AMBIANCE - 3 stars...a lot of plastic and fluorescent colors if that's what you like SERVICE - 3.5 stars...the one guy working was nice enough TOTAL - 4 stars...all-weather froyo is important to this Californian RELATED - Looking for dining options in New York City? Assortment of 4 Flavors: Birthday Cake, Nutella, Cheesecake, Graham Cracker.

In years past, I frequented this location of 16 Handles. During the past couple years, less so. It's probably been nearly half a year since I have been there last, but I went tonight for a nice froyo. 16 Handles has the type of frozen yogurt that I like: reasonably natural tasting flavors, cold and dense -- not light and fluffy -- texture. It also has a good variety of flavors as well as fresh, good quality toppings. My standard go-to is half "birthday cake" and half "cookies and cream" yogurts, and usually I don't add toppings -- only occasionally do I add cookie dough pieces. Tonight, I had birthday cake, graham cracker, cheesecake, and Nutella. Yes, it was a decent amount of frozen yogurt, which I ate onsite. 16 Handles still has my kind of yogurt! But, given my time away, I noticed that the space needs to be better maintained and updated. I am not saying that the place is dirty or unsanitary; if it were, I would not go. It just seems to be showing its age. In addition, the quality control of the froyo has apparently diminished: at least two of the flavors I had were not smooth; rather, they were inconsistent, with some small, dense chunks of froyo. I still enjoyed the froyo, and I certainly would return for more. The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional during tonight's visit. Often, you need to ask someone behind the counter for a taste, and the staff member will come to give you samples. I needed to do that tonight as well. Afterward, that staff member stayed near the machines to help customers coming into the store. (Years ago, the machines were always staffed with someone who would readily give you a sample and tend to the machines.) BOTTOM LINE: Good froyo with a variety of flavors and fresh toppings available. Some aspects have deteriorated over the years, including some quality and service, but this 16 Handles is still worth visiting to satisfy that froyo craving. TIP: Use the 16 Handles app to pay in order to receive points/rewards.

They were so quick to arrive and got the order right! They place the toppings in these small container due to Covid and even have plastic coverings on the spoons. I ordered and it literally came in 15 minutes. So great!

FLAVORS: pumpkin, salted caramel, coconut, vanilla Tahiti, chocolate, and more. The usual toppings like gummy bears, kiwi, mango, strawberry, blueberries, chocolate chips, etc. I got the coconut, chocolate, and vanilla with some fruit toppings. Mango to go with coconut. Strawberry to go with chocolate. And kiwi to go with vanilla. They let you do samples, but the guy has to get it for you. Glad he wears gloves. SEATING: good amount of seating and more in the left back area with a TV, which was great because the football game was on. Poster says they do birthday science parties which amazes me because I don't see much space. Bathrooms is one toilet room. Outside chairs too. PAY: by weight. One cashier is for cash and the other is for debit or credit. OVERALL: Standard yogurt place, but well done.

Oh My Pumpkin Pie Yogurt, Sea Salt Caramel Pretzel Yogurt, Birthday Cake Yogurt, NSA NY Cheesecake Yogurt, Arriba Coffee.

I've never tried a Japanese cheesecake before and was extremely excited to be able to pick up some treats for my coworkers as well as my partner's birthday cake from Keki. Ordering is fairly straightforward and done with a simple machine outfront. Once your order is ready one of the staff members hands it to you through a window; there is no inside area accessible to customers but our food came quickly and we took it back to the office. The cheesecake was fantastic. I read a bit about the background of the shop online and how the owner really cares about using high-quality ingredients, specifically dairy. It was justas described, light and bouncy. I enjoyed how it was not overly sweet and found that it was all too easy to devour the entire cake over the course of two days. Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
