Wow, this little shop is unassuming, it definitely catches the eye, especially for someone like me who loves Asian pastries. I've never tried a Japanese cheesecake before and was extremely excited to be able to pick up some treats for my coworkers as well as my partner's birthday cake from Keki. Ordering is fairly straightforward and done with a simple machine outfront. Once your order is ready one of the staff members hands it to you through a window; there is no inside area accessible to customers but our food came quickly and we took it back to the office. The cheesecake was fantastic. I read a bit about the background of the shop online and how the owner really cares about using high-quality ingredients, specifically dairy. It was justas described, light and bouncy. I enjoyed how it was not overly sweet and found that it was all too easy to devour the entire cake over the course of two days. Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. Just got some tarts here so my review isn't reflecting what they're known for or typically have. I liked these ok because it was creamy and light, not too sweet either, but it may be the crust part that I wasn't as much of a fan of. There are lots of other tart places that do something sinilar and didn't really think these were that memorable. But read this keeping in mind I didn't try to cake items so that product may be better if all you're looking for is a light fluffy dessert that's not too sweet. Try something else here! I have not had Japanese bouncy cheesecakes in America so I was very surprised to have found this cake while looking for dessert places in Koreatown. Came right before they closed and they still had some cake options left. The only thing is that they are take-out only so you will need to find some other place to sit. We ordered the Ube Bouncy which is their classic cake but only with ube flavor. I can't say that the ube flavor was particularly prominent, but I really appreciated the consistency of the cake as it was both dense and very light with a lot of moisture which I really appreciate. It reminded me of the cakes you get in Taiwan which made me sad as the last time I went to Taiwan I forgot to eat it. Wooow, we got the original cheesecake and it was sooo yummy! It was not too sweet (in the best way) and it was also deliciously soft and moist. There was still a nice firmness to the texture of the cake that made it quite a sensation. The cheesecake flavor is quite subtle which I like compared to American cheesecake and it tastes a little eggy as well. I would best describe it as a cross between american cheese cake and Asian sponge cake (both which are yummy and when combined together, is double the yummies) There is not sit down as this is an order-only location. You basically just order at the window and they give it to you right away. The cream puff is honestly a really good size and I was shocked when I ripped it open and saw how much filling was inside. The craquelin on top gave it a really nice texture but that and the puff didn't really have much flavor. The ube flavor in the cream is also pretty mild but it's still delicious. How have I repeatedly missed reviewing this amazing bakery. I'm a big fan of the ube bouncy and it doesn't get better than that. It's my go to when In doubt. The tart has a good bounce, beautiful color, soft texture and it tastes like heaven. I love that how most Japanese desserts aren't over loaded with sugar and frosting.
