This is my first time trying their tequila- it is the so smooth and tastes great! My favorite is the honey jalapeno reposado tequila.

We saw that they served whiskey and tequila so decided to take a break from wine and check this place out. Staff was friendly, made nice suggestions and the place has lots of great outdoor seating options and the live music was pretty good. The tasting room itself is fairly small with tables and a bar but there is plenty of space outside where they also feature live music on certain nights. I chose the 1693 Premium Flight and they were really good ... smooth and strong! They do have an onsite food truck that served tacos and such. The gentleman that waited on us was very nice and answered all our questions. We had a whiskey sour and a sampling of whiskeys. One was a bourbon, one was a rye and I don;t remember the last one. When you get the tasting you take home the shot glasses which are square and very cool. They have a nice outside area and a couple covered areas so you can visit no matter what the weather. 1693 Distillery is small but the location is BIG! By big I mean open, spacious and stunning! As with every other distillery, we want a tasting! The tasting's at 1693 are very pricey compared to most distilleries, perhaps it's because you get to keep the tasting glasses. I chose the Elevacion flight and hubby had the premium flight. The agave spirits are excellent, although distilled in Mexico they are bottled in Fredericksburg, making them a local spirit I suppose! Hubby enjoyed his flight with the single barrel rye being his favorite. The outdoor seating is nice and spread out, there's plenty of room for large groups and cozy corners for couples. We would have liked a little more info on the spirits and a little more interaction, perhaps on our next visit! The food truck, Saborcito de Mi Rancho was absolutely delicious!! This is a rustic stop along the route of wineries. My husband went for an Old Fashioned and we enjoyed the outdoor seating (with some shade) for this stop. What a great visit! We have seen this small location right off of the highway and couldn't wait for them to open. We happened to on Fredericksburg on a Saturday for once and was ready to stop and take advantage of a beautiful day. The Bourbon is smooth. They have a couple of mixed drinks and slushies along with the normal tastings. I chose the old fashioned which they made with their Rye (the way it should be) and it was really nice. Smooth and a bit of smokiness but definitely a nice drink. I prefer the regular bourbon better than the Rye and light when it comes to the tasting. The service was great. I was able to walk right up and was helped immediately. They took their time to explain everything and answer any questions that I had. I've recently realized how many amazing gems are to be found out in the beautiful Hill County. This is just one of many stunning spots. I know we had a reservation for a time slot, I think they are required; if not, they may be highly encouraged. Fyi. The venue gives beautiful, comfy backyard vibes. There's a nice little fire pit where a group can sit around or lovely umbrella shaded tables. The area is adorned with lights that give a sweet and romantic ambiance in the evening. So the main event.... Whiskey. It's delicious and it's worth the drive out there time and again. We started with a flight of the three offerings: Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Light Whiskey, and Straight Rye Whiskey. The flight came with a description card, a paddle, and three shot glasses. Side note: My boyfriend wasn't too thrilled with the idea of the pours coming in a shot glass. It does detract from the experience a bit. We also ended up ordering a full pour of one of the options which was given to us in a shot glass. In any event, all three were tasty and all three were available to purchase in full bottles. Overall, this was an amazing little adventure to a really relaxing and beautiful spot. Also, the owners were super friendly and chatted with each of the tables over the course of the evening. 10/10 read more

What a unique stop on the 290 wine shuttle! Trust me, order the peach cooli cocktail. It's fantastic! One important thing to know is that 1693 is an outdoor distillery, so we weren't able to visit too long in the Texas summer heat. They do have large shade structures so you're not in direct sun. The bartenders were incredibly helpful in providing recommendations and when my friends went to package up the whiskey flight shot glasses they got to take home from their tasting, the employee added in a second set for free so they didn't have to choose who it went home with. A great stop on the wine tour where you can enjoy something that isn't wine. They have big grilling rings where you can cook your own sausage. The best bang for your buck is their whiskey sampler. Where you get their three whiskeys bourbon, light, and rye. I thought their Rye was their best one. Very smooth and tasted great. You also get to keep the shot glasses and wooden cutout board they come out in. They also have several whiskey drinks you can get from bourbon lemonade and potato old fashioned. We go out to the Fredericksburg-Johnson City area quarterly for the wine pick ups. I was pleasantly surprised to find a place that serves bourbon and beer, it was like my little slice of heaven in the Texas wine country. We had both the full flight as well as the Bourbon flight. My wife then decided to have a beer to help wash down the whiskey in preparation for her next wine stop. If you're like me and not really much into wine, this is the place to be. Our stop at Luckenbach Road Whiskey was great! We have anticipated their opening as we've watched it being built and we were so excited to see it was open so we stopped in. All of the seating is outdoor but they have heaters, a fire pit and a glasses on seating area for the colder days. They offer mixed drinks, frozen mixed drinks and flight tastings of whiskey. Their liquor is very good and the servers are very knowledgeable and helpful in guiding you through the experience of enjoying whiskey. We visited 1693 Distillery on Sunday, September 24 at about 11:50 a.m., right before you were set to open. My husband has been a club member for several months and since we were in Fredericksburg for my daughter's birthday, we decided to stop by your business to pick up our bottle of whiskey that was charged on July 1. When my husband approached an employee setting up the bar on the left side, he told your employee that he was there to pick up his bottle. The employee told him that the club he was in was no longer offered. He also told my husband that all of those bottles had already been picked up. My husband explained that he hadn't picked up his because we hadn't visited your business in quite awhile. Your employee told my husband that he would have to show proof that he was charged for the bottle. My husband could not immediately find the mentioned email, so he returned to the car. Once in the car, he found the email dated July 1 for a $54.00 charge. He then returned to the same employee and showed him the email. Your employee accused my husband of being at your business the week before and that he had already picked up that bottle. We have not been in Fredericksburg since June 3. There's no way we could have picked up that bottle. Your employee was clearly annoyed, grabbed a bottle and shoved it into my husband's hands. As my husband walked away, your employee slammed his hands on the counter and stated "F#####g Liar". First of all, you need a system that checks who picks up what and when. And, if you don't know, you don't accuse your customers without knowing the facts. Secondly, being a veteran owned business, customers should expect the utmost respect, especially towards another veteran like my husband. Finally, I would like to think that your employee was having a bad day and did not want to deal with the program that you did away with a few months ago. But that does not give him the right to belittle, question and then curse at my husband or anyone else. I would hate to think that this was racially motivated. Just for the record, we will never visit or recommend your establishment to any of our friends or family. And, we will definitely let them know what a horrible experience this was. read more

The plans for the future look amazing! Currently it's just shipping containers arranged around but I will say they are very nicely laid out. The bathroom was surprisingly nicer than I expected with plenty of stalls. There was one guy manning the tastings as well as merchandise counters. Nice little fire pit with several barrell tables to stand around and a cod hole set ready for play. I enjoyed a whiskey lemonade while my guy got a flight. The paddle and shot glasses an included souvenir and they wrap them up for you to take home when you are done. I was a little disappointed they were out of most of the men's shirts. When you see the plans these guys have for development it's pretty dang impressive and we will plan to book a stay here. read more

GM was inside and when we walked in he didn't acknowledge us . Not sure if it was because we are Hispanic because he did acknowledge the Caucasian couple at the bar .
