Cocktails (like Bulleit Old Fashioneds) and wines-by-the-glass (Ravenswood Zin) run $10-14, a single, oily, ashey short rib taco on a basic grilled flour tortilla is $6, and a sizeable but charred, somewhat bland serving of famed Quiet Man steak tips with rice pilaf hits you for $20. To these two dishes, I must agree with another Yelper James R - there's a real overpowering carbon taste. Her grilled cheese and tomato soup rang in at $14, with a $5 cone of fries. Average burrata is $10. We were comped a misfired order of solid calamari; Shane's service was on point. I feel like I missed the mark by not ordering on of their made-to-share sheets - crackly flatbread pizzas served on the underside of a (you guessed it) sheet pan. When I consider I could have had a similar, better tasting meal for $30 less at Silvertone, I feel like I should've. Got seated quickly for a large group. I wasn't expecting much from here but the pizza was really good. I ordered the buffalo chicken and the chicken were cut into ball shapes (like mini tenders?). It's not like other buffalo chicken where they just cut up pieces of chicken and put buffalo sauce on. There was a good balance between chicken, cheese and sauce. One thing I didn't like was how the chicken fell off the pizza every time I would take a bite. But overall, it was pretty good and I would order again or try the Hawaiian one next time. The steak tips were good as well. It came out medium rare and very tender compared to other places when it comes to steak. Came here for an early pizza dinner with friends. We ordered the olives, hot wings, and Rhode Island calamari for appetizers. The olives were lemony and delicious- id definitely order again. The hote wings don't claim to be Buffalo, but we assumed they would be. They were more like barbecue hot wings with blue cheese dressing and there was nothing wrong with them but they weren't a favorite with anyone at our table. The calamari was good-it was a plate of rings and hot peppers with the sauce drizzled- but they weren't as crispy as I usually like. For pizzas we ordered the crispy eggplant and the sausage. The crispy eggplant was the highlight of the night for me. It was breaded eggplant, pounded thin, with red sauce and cheese but it was amazing. The sausage was ok- everyone at the table actually thought it was great- but the eggplant was so much better in my opinion that I wished I'd only eaten the eggplant pizza. My boyfriend and I came here on a few nights ago around 6pm and we were seated right away. We ordered the calamari for appetizer. The appetizer was so delicious however, this appetizer is huge for 2 people. There was a great number of calamari and it was fried well. We did the "Make Your Own Pizza"-- half meatball and half pepperoni. I believe it costs extra, depending on the toppings. As for dessert, we got the vanilla bean bread pudding. Honestly, the food is amazing! So if you do come here, be prepared to take home some food. However, the service we received was quite slow. The dining side was not packed and yet it was quite hard to get our server's attention. We waited quite a bit for our server as we saw other servers attending to their assigned tables. Unfortunately, the items we liked are gone and their menu remind unimaginative, stale and not tasty. At all. The last 3 times the food was just 'meh.' I'm wondering, do you guys employ a well experienced, kid-level chef? Any formal training? The mustard chicken pizza is disgusting. The fried chicken is thigh meat, not chicken tender or breast. The mustard / onion/ what ever combo was all the wrong flavors and acids. The only saving (I'm lying here) grace was their broccoli ceaser app. It's so so (we used to love it until we started doing our own version) and now it's just ...boring. Sorry 16C. We used to like you. Oh, and do yourself a favor and get a better phone service, or multiple people working the phones. Make it easier to call in for take out. I had to call back, no joke, 14 times. Floppy pizza crust. Boring specialty cocktail. Poor service. Hate to give one star but nothing was redeemable. We went here at 7pm the night before Memorial Day. Half hour wait for our table but we were expecting that. Seated and ordered a cheese tomato sauce sheet, which is off the menu. Also beer and a pear martini type craft cocktail. My $11 pear drink was terribly bland without any sweetness. Disappointing. Castle Island draft was good according to my SO. After a 30 plus minute wait the pizza came. The server never checked in with us from the ordering until delivery!! It had floppy crust and was bland in taste. Doughy bottom which we both disliked and we both ate very little before we gave up and pushed our plates away. After 20 minutes the server finally came by to ask us if everything was okay. I told her the pizza was very undercooked and showed her the white underside of the pizza. She gasped and said that had never happened before. (Really??) She offered to cook us a new pizza but we didn't want to wait another 30 minutes plus again. Had she come by promptly after the food was delivered I would have told her it was bad and we would have left to go eat at the Fat Cat. We soon got the check and she advised she took the pizza off the bill, which was appropriate. I was pretty bummed out over 16C and I didn't even get a yummy cocktail out of the night. TIP: for consistently amazing pizza go to Maggy's Lounge. Five star Yelp rating. In Quincy and pizzas are half price from 4-6pm. Steak tips with a Campari and Soda. Side of arugula salad. Bread pudding with a coffee for dessert. This is the best meal I've had all year, hands down. And 4 hours earlier I didn't even know I'd be having it. My girlfriend and I were going to attend a Karaoke night with some of her friends in Quincy but we had some time to kill beforehand. Both of us being foodies, we said "let's grab some dinner in the area" and searched "Phantom Gourmet Quincy" on YouTube. We love that show and have spent many a Sunday morning watching the glorious food porn it provides. With few exceptions, it's never steered us wrong. The spot it had on 16C featured all the close ups of delicious dish we've come to expect. Two little facts they dropped caught my attention more than anything though: 1) The steak tips are a townie treasure, a secret recipe brought over from another restaurant by the owner's father after his own establishment closed its' doors 2) The woman who runs 16C operated a bakery for 10 years before she opened this spot A Boston classic take on steak tips and deserts created by somebody with heaps of experience run by two generations of restaurateurs? Perfect. All the tables were full when we arrived, but they were happy to serve us at the bar. The guy behind the counter was impeccable at his job (my only complaint was that he likes to serve Campari drinks in a wine glass while I like them in a cocktail glass, but I can understand how that could be a matter of personal preference). The bar is also really cool to look at too. All the wine, beer, and spirits are arranged symmetrically and staked high on dark wood, with the top shelf stuff in the middle in fancy bottles. It just looks dynamic. But enough about the interior design. Let me tell you about dem steak tips. Medium rare. Marinated in... something. It's got a flash of sweetness that's obvious but not overpowering, like cola mixed with a blend of herbs and spices that takes just enough edge off. The meat is tender enough to cut but is cooked to that right level that gives you all that chew you're craving when you get tips. I don't know what's in that secret recipe but you can see why it's crossing generational lines. The maple arugula salad was fine too and provided a perfect break in between bites of the meat. My mouth was watering as soon as I smelled the things. And that desert man. Let me tell ya. Bread pudding is amazing when done right. And you can tell that the person in charge of the slice I got had been doing it right for a looooong time. It was the perfect level of moist. My spoon cut right through it but there was none of that excess moisture you sometimes get if a place has been keeping it refrigerated and allowing it to accumulate water in a container. I was also taken aback by how NOT sweet it was. Most bakeries over-sugar their stuff too much for my palette and I get sick of whatever they're serving after one or two bites. This place cooks it with a level of sweetness that's comforting and also allows the flavors of the bread to really stand out. It really mellows you out and lets you work your way through the entire slice guilt free. It also came out toasty with a cup of coffee that was a perfect cap on the meal. Just perfect. Thank you 16C. This is by miles the best pizza I've found in Quincy- but this place is so much more! I've been countless times at this point. Decor is nice, but not "too" nice, so you feel comfortable. Waitstaff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Tables can be a bit wobbly sometimes, but I haven't had one in quite a while (maybe they fixed it?) Like I said, the pizza is great! They're called "sheets", and are the size of a sheet pan. Prices seem high at first until you realize just how much pizza you're getting. They really like garlic, which is great for a garlic lover like myself. You can get half and half, which is a great way to try new varieties, as they switch their menu up quite a bit. I usually don't really like steak cut fries, but I order a side of them here almost every time I go. I've had the steak tips, tacos, nachos, grilled cheese with tomato soup, and burger. The only one that disappointed me a bit was the burger, as it was a bit difficult to eat due to its size. It's a logistical thing. My mouth doesn't open that wide. Cocktails are on point. They make a great old fashioned. Their specialty cocktails are always fun to try and almost always extremely good(which is not the case with many restaurants). The espresso martini gives me hope. I've only had one dessert, which is the sampler. It comes with 4 different types of ice cream (raspberry sorbet, lemon gelato?, coconut, and mexican chocolate), fresh baked cookies, and brownies. I read a review that stated the owner was a baker? Well, it shows. Those chocolate chip cookies were perfect. Gooey but with a nice crisp, and just the right amount of chocolate chips. The 4 types of pizza I tried were the sausage, pepperoni, spinach and traditional. The spinach was my least favorite, it had too much cheese for my liking. I have been here a few times since it's opened. The food is really good and fresh. Their pizza flats & burgers are amazing and huge. Of course you have to come for the steak tips. It's the original recipe from the Quiet Man in Southie, that have since closed down. The one thing that you must try is there muscles and their desserts which are awesome! LOVED everything! First time trying this place and came in on a Thursday night. It was pretty packed but was seated right away. Our waitress was great, answered a couple of questions (the cornbread is served for brunch only - so made a note to come back!) and the food was really delicious. So delicious that I completely forgot to take a picture of everything...sigh...missed opportunity, but I guess there's a next time! After The Phantom Gourmet gave this restaurant rave reviews, I felt compelled to try it. My party and I arrived at 6pm and was seated immediately. The staff including the owner were friendly and genuine. And, during the course of the evening the restaurant filled up. Let's get to the meals. We ordered the Garlic wings as our app. I found the wings were meaty and thick. But, I didn't get the wow of garlic nor the taste of the seasoning and cheese on top. We ordered a side of Blue cheese to dip them in. It was watery and tasted weird . We all agreed not to tempt fate and left it alone. Even the server wasn't sure what it was. My guests still enjoyed the wings though. One of my guests and myself ordered the Quiet man Steak tips medium rare. The portion of meat was okay but the tips were either butchered wrong or just a lower cut. Very fibrous and really lacking that meaty taste. At $23 a plate, it only came with rice or potato. Once again my other guest seemed to enjoy it. We ordered the salmon which was delicious. A small cut with veggies for $24 but tasty. For dessert, we all shared a brownie sundae. It was very good. And it such be at $9. What can I say about the bar? Well, my $7 stellwagon beer had a nice bite to it. And I grew very fond of it quickly. lol. My guests enjoyed the $12 Aperol spritz. So, this portion of the bill depends on how badly you want a drink. All and all, we enjoyed each other's company and had a good evening out. The bill totaled $150 plus a $30 tip. I eat out all the time and accustom to pricing. I feel this restaurant is overpriced. At $60 a person, I expected better. Apparently, I'm in the minority with all the tables being full. We crossed the street to the Four's for a night cap. Guests at that bar were being served Steak tips with a plate full of veggies and starch for $13.99. I envied them. Wow, this place was AWFUL. Where to begin... We went on a Saturday at 5:45 for a dinner. I dropped my brother and my pregnant fiancé off to grab us a table since it was freezing out while I parked. I walked in 5 minutes later and even though there was an open table they were still standing as the hostess told them they could not sit until the entire party (I.e. Me) arrived. I said, "Really?" And without asking for her input the hostess let me know "all" restaurants do that to avoid people sitting and wasting time. God forbid a pregnant woman get to sit and rest while reading the menu and ordering our food. They then proceeded to sit us directly next to the door where we froze every time the door opened. It took 10 minutes for the waitress to come over, at which time we ordered all of our food. This included pizza, steak tips and calamari. I explained that we were going to a play and had to leave by 6:45 (this was at 6pm). I asked for all of the food at the same time and quickly. I asked if that would be an issue and she said there would be no issue and it was easy enough to do. Our pizza came out at 6:20... no calamari or steak tips. I asked where the rest of our food was. She said she would check (and definitely had a look of, yikes, "I forgot to order something"). 10 minute later our calamari (the appetizer) came out. At that point I asked where the steak tips were (at 6:30) and she said she would check. At 6:40 she was walking by ignoring our table when I finally flagged her down and said, "Can you please tell me where the steak tips are? I told you we need to leave by 6:45pm." Sure enough, the steak tips came out at 6:45pm. No apologies and the waitress would not even look at us when she dropped them off at our table. The worst part of it was that I could at least cut them some slack if the food was good but it wasn't! It was mediocre at best. We got the Mediterranean pizza, which was okay. The crust was good but the flavoring was not there. They also skimped on the toppings. The calamari was light and the portion was tiny. I could have finished it myself. You will find much better calamari at Alfredo's in Quincy. And in the grand finale of their middle finger to us, the steak tips SUCKED. For $20 you get a whopping 4, which were tiny. They had no flavor other than salt. You always know something is wrong when you leave a restaurant hungry, and anyone getting the steak tips will leave hungry. This place was awful, with awful service and mediocre food. I was a waiter for years and if I screwed up like they did, I would have taken the steak tips off of the bill but not here. We got the full bill. This was the first time in years that I left less than a 20% tip but our waitress was lucky she even got anything. I wanted this place to be half as good as the Quiet Man. I went the first time and the steak tips had a tinge of QM taste at best. Maybe the same marinate, maybe the same grill!? Who knows but it was just ok. I went for the second time today for lunch. It was Sunday, it was relatively empty and so I thought I'd give the tips another shot and we'd be out quickly. The service was terrible. We stood in the front waiting for a hostess for 3-4 minutes when suddenly the bartender said 'sit anywhere.' We did and waited another 5 for the water, then another 5 for drinks. As I said it was empty. After we ordered we waited for 25-30 minutes for the food. Whatever. When it arrived I saw that the $20 steak tip lunch I ordered had 4 steak tips. 4. FOUR average sized steak tips on a plate that could hold 20. It was the only thing on the plate! Lol That was my last try of 16C. Anyone who is looking for anything close to the Quiet Man should avoid. I heard mixed reviews of 16c but thought I would see for myself. The food was ok my burger wasn't cooked as asked and had to send back but when I sent back the staff made it as though I was killing their dog. I was treated like crap after, no one came to our table no extras. We had to ask for the bill and the waitstaff had the wrong bill and when I brought up the discrepancies they said that was my fault that I didn't bring it up earlier. My drink order was messed up. It seemed like it was new staff that didn't know what was going on. They made me feel like I was an idiot. I will not return, the staff was so rude. They need training or new Starr. read more
