Looked for an upscale steakhouse to treat my brother for his birthday and had a wonderful experience and dinner here. They were able to adjust our reservation for more people to attend And asked if this was a special occasion. We told them, my brother's 70th birthday and they had a special setting for him at the head of the table with a birthday card When we arrived! Our various steaks were done perfectly and were delicious! Particularly liked how the sides were served family style so we could help ourselves to as much or as little as we wanted. My fave was the asparagus! The Wagyu ravioli app was my personal fave.one really cool thing was that out of the six different options for steak sauces, you could also opt for a sauce 'flight' so you could try them all. Came here with a group of 8 for my friend's birthday after hearing so many good things about this new steakhouse. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. Grilled Prawns - the highlight of the night. They were huge, perfectly cooked, and the creamy sauce was delicious. I'd come back just for those. Octopus - overcooked and bland. Beef carpaccio - overloaded with Parmesan, which completely overpowered the beef, and it lacked flavors. Crab fried rice- oily and it was also lacked of flavors. We had to pour the steak sauce on top of the rice to make it flavorful. The biggest disappointment was the ribeye steaks. Out of 8 steaks, only one was cooked to the requested temperature. Most were served rare instead of medium, and while the inside was undercooked, the outside was overly charred, leaving a bitter taste. Sunday Brunch Buffet I was impressed with the brunch buffet, and Mason's in general. The restaurant was stunning and everyone loves sn open view if the kitchen. The buffet was epic- perfectly cooked baked eggs, bacon hash, and scrambled eggs were all uniquely prepared and excellent. The star of the show sat in the middle of the table with generous portions of prime rib were carved and hand salted on your plate. The buffet line continued with a lox platter, crudité, omelets to order, and a variety of up scale pastries. There was literally nothing on the buffet that was not noteworthy. We loved our drinks (bloody & cinnamon toast brunch) while the GM came over to chat. Our waitress Cheyanne was on point and helped us decide on our juice choices for the Bucket of Bubbles that rounded out our drink order. Soft and fluffy... then comes the Appetizers and sides which were all top-notch and set the tone for the meal. Drinks were unique and fun. The Mason Caesar salad is a standout -- classic, flavorful, and must include anchovies. Ours initially came without them, so we had to ask, but anchovies are truly the best part, so make sure they're included. The roasted bone marrow served with toast was rich and indulgent, and the baby potatoes were simple yet addictive, which was a recommended side. The wild Spanish octopus was beautifully executed -- tender and flavorful. Every steak we ordered was cooked to perfection with an ideal char. The tomahawk, porterhouse were great for sharing with multiple people and a great wow factor! The ribeye, and New York strip were solid options too, can also be easily shared with the delicious sides available. Desserts were unique and perfect for a birthday or special occasion. Accommodations were also excellent: the first floor has a lively, fun vibe, while the upstairs feels more intimate and is great for private dinners. I've only been here 3 times but I can confidently say Mason's is definitely one of my top favorite restaurants in MA. Service is phenomenal each time, they are so knowledgeable and have impeccable taste. I went back over the weekend to celebrate my mom's birthday, and I'm so glad we went! Appetizers: I highly recommend the mushroom rilette! Always, always, always order it when I come and I recommend it to everyone I know who's thinking of going to Mason's. The coal roasted prawns are also excellent! Beefy and nicely seasoned and roasted with a char. One of the specials for the night was the Norwegian black trout, and I must say, this dish NEEDS to be a permanent item on the menu. It was out of this world! If this dish was on their menu, I would order it every single time without question. The skin was so crispy, the fish was buttery and flavorful, and there was a distinct fish taste/smell of the ocean but it wasn't overwhelming which I really enjoyed. Steaks: We got the filet mignon and NY strip, and they were all seasoned to perfection. Cooks were great on the mediums, but I do notice they tend to undercook their medium rares a bit. I got a medium rare filet and it felt a bit more on the rarer side once I hit the middle, but I didn't mind. I have had to send a steak back before and I felt awful, but it was a little too rare at the time, and the staff were very accommodating about it which was nice. Desserts: I really like their sorbets, they have seasonal flavors and are very interesting and different! Very delicious. The grandiose interior is complete with vaulted ceilings and stylistic decor giving off a vibe that would be right at home in downtown Boston or the ever-trendy Seaport. When I arrived earlier this evening, I was early for my reservation, so I headed for the bar to wait. One glance at the drink menu and of course my eyes landed on the hickory smoked old fashioned and if there is one thing my readers know, a Smokey old fashioned is a personal favorite. So I ordered one along with some shrimp cocktail to keep me company while I waited for my party. Once everyone arrived we took our seats and dove into the menu, ordering a number of things the way my supper club usually does. We ordered the razor clam ceviche, porcini mushroom meatballs, squid ink seafood pasta, truffle Alfredo, blue crab fried rice, waygu ravioli, dry aged NY strip, prime filet, and the bone in ribeye to split and everything was delicious. Pro tip: They also offer a 3lb waygu tomahawk that we would have gotten for the table, but supply is limited and unfortunately they had sold out for the evening. Next time. I've never had oysters served like that before and it was a nice touch! For my entree, I ordered the filet mignon (medium-rare), my husband got the ribeye and we shared the following: steak sauce flight, creamed spinach and baby potatoes. My steak was cooked perfectly and tasted smooth as silk. I absolutely LOVED the sauce flight!! It made each bite taste like I was eating a different steak! Was excited to try Masons as the setting looked really unique and the food elevated from many of the restaurants in the area. Overall, a decent spot but I'd say not quite a spot I'd fully recommend. I'd give it probably a 3.5 if I could but bumped it to a 4 because it is a novel experience. While the ambiance was cool (restaurant is in an old Masonic temple), the vibe was "too cool." The background music and the scene itself was very vibe-y and left me wishing for something different. Service was pretty good, hostess and waiter were nice. If you're charging $29 for a small Wagyu beef ravioli appetizer, I want the impact of the sage butter and Wagyu to actually be noticeable in each bite. Parking is not too bad if you go at night, there are some side streets. Seafood tower for 2 was not bad for $100, we shared with 3 people. Felt like the tower for 4 people for $250 was a bit too much Brussel sprouts was good on top but drenched with too much sauce. Potatos were fine but not memorable. I got drink with tequila and pandan which was interesting if you want to try something new. 21oz bone in rib eyes was pretty good. They have suace on the side that you can dip but steak had enough flavor on its own. Had an absolutely amazing experience here for our anniversary! My partner and I came without reservations or any prior notice of a special occasion, just carrying cards for one another. We got a table right away (Wednesday night) and they noticed the cards so we got little goodies all night including a happy anniversary card, special appetizer, champagne and dessert. Our waitress was fabulous and explained the history of the restaurant as well as the vibe they're going for. She gave us any info we needed to make decisions on what food and drinks we wanted to try. My partner ordered a drink called "I can't believe it's not grapefruit", that, like the name suggests, had no grapefruit in it but tastes exactly like it - it was delicious! I had a delicious cocktail also but forget the name (this review is a few weeks late). I also had a really nice glass of Malbec. The Parker house rolls were warm, sweet, and lightly salted - the best we've had. I had the lobster bisque as an appetizer which was so delicious and comforting. For sides we got the brussel sprouts, whipped potatoes, and autumn nut squash (all were fabulous but the squash was to die for - I was obsessed). We both got filet mignon. Hers was medium, mine was medium rare. I do think mine was cooked a little closer to rare, but it was delicious so I didn't mind. We got the masons sauce and peppercorn sauce to go along with the steaks and both were delicious but we both preferred the peppercorn a bit. After dinner, they brought us free champagne and dessert for our anniversary which was so kind. The homemade chocolates and little cake they brought out were delicious! Amazing food, but mainly I was very impressed by how seriously food allergies are taken at the restaurant. The waitress asked if there were any food allergies from the beginning and notated them. She made sure that the allergy warnings were applied to not only my food, but the sides shared among the table, and even made sure there was an allergy free piece of fudge for me at the end of the meal. She also mentioned they would be able to make accommodations for certain desserts. I have never experienced such thoughtful consideration of my allergies at a restaurant before and was so impressed. I like bone marrow, but this dish was on the saltier side, even though they added citrus and fig jam to refresh the taste. We went tonight and ate from the Dine Out Boston prix fixe menu. Our table was on the second floor, and the space was lovely although a little hard acoustically. The room was a little loud for my taste, but not overwhelmingly so. Our server was Vicki, who was very attentive without being obtrusive. I started with raw oysters ($10 upcharge) and my wife had the corn bisque, which was amazing. I had the sirloin, cooked perfectly rare and served with their steak sauce and a roasted potato. Steak was very good. My wife had the meatball casserole. The casserole was delicious, but the pasta wasn't cooked enough. We also had the trio sampler of mac and cheese, creamed spinach and roasted brussel sprouts. They were all very tasty. Friends and I participated in the New Year's Eve celebration, and my, what a stunning establishment it is. For a busy service time, it was a very creative menu with solid execution but nothing particularly memorable other than the incredible presentation, again with the caveat of a busy NYE dinner. Portion sizes exactly what you'd expect from fine dining (ie relatively small). Desserts ($15-25) were gorgeous and worth the picture but more intensely sweet than I'd like. I had the chance to go back a second time, the service and food felt much more refined. Im glad they were able to take in my considerations to train the staff more and better prepare them. Food: we ordered lobster bisque, which was very flavorful with a hint of nutmeg. Delicious! For entree we got A5 Japanese Wagyu beef and Bone in Ribeye. Both were very juicy and tender. The food: the steak here rivals any other top notch steakhouse in Boston. The bone in ribeye was melt in your mouth tender with the perfect amount of fattiness. Oh and you must get the Mac and cheese. It had a nicely baked crust and the al dente pasta had this amazing chew to it. It wasn't heavy at all and reminded me of the baked mac and cheese I grew up with in the South but better. Please save room for dessert. We got this dessert shaped as a cherry blossom tree that was straight up a piece of art. It looked like something out of chefs table - tiny flowers and gold flakes nestled in a cotton candy tree canopy. Tasted amazing. Ambience: The ambience is completely unexpected for Quincy. Tall ceilings, dim lighting, and a dark interior sets up the classic steakhouse atmosphere that says classy and intimate yet can be appropriate for a girls night out. The decor is tastefully done as they did not skimp on the budget here. They also set the place up to have lots of large groups. Big booths and long tables welcome big parties. Every other table was celebrating a birthday so we saw lots of candles come by. Oh and the backlit bar is beautiful. You can definitely just stop by here for drinks and enjoy a sleek bar with a tv with the game on. While you do want to dress up a bit to go, it is by no means stuffy. Did I mention this place used to be a Mason's lodge? The outside of the building is gorgeous. Huge columns and intricate designs along the facade welcome you. Service: Our server, Travis, was incredibly nice and helpful. Our entrees did take awhile to get ready but they comped a glass of wine for us without us even asking and brought over a sorbet palate cleanser to keep us busy. Best way to celebrate Father's Day is at a fancy steakhouse! I made a reservation ahead of time and we got the time that we wanted. Parking was very easy to find. There's either street parking or a little public parking lot right across the street. The inside felt very luxurious, but also cozy at the same time. Very spacious and that is very important for our party because we have a baby stroller. I have to say that all staff were wonderful- everyone was extremely friendly and greeted us as we passed by. It's a very welcoming feeling. I like that they were very attentive and thoughtful when I put the comment on my reservation that we have a stroller. I did call ahead to confirm and they said that there is a corner table that is spacious and can accommodate our situation. It was relieving to know that they are understanding of this. For starters, we received complementary soft bread. It was very fluffy and the butter that came with it was delicious. Reminds me of the well-loved Texas Roadhouse breads but more unique (if you know you know). The wild spanish octopus was a light dish and I like how it was cut into pieces. It had a lot of flavoring. The bone marrow is a must try- the garlicky bread it comes with was very soft but also had a subtle crunch. It went so well with the fatty bone marrow and all the additional spices it comes with. For entree, I ordered the classic bolognese. It had a lot of good flavors and it was a decent amount! The noodles were cooked well, not too soft and not too hard. The noodles and sauce proportion was great. The steak was also delicious- we got the bearnaise sauce with it which was a white creamy sauce. For sides, we got the crispy brussel sprouts. It is a good snack for the table. Has a little kick to it with the subtle spicy sauce. The potato puree is a must get!!! I love mashed potatoes and they made it so well here- creamy texture with just enough buttery taste. We ended it off with a chocolate torte dessert. I love that it has crunchy bits inside. We had a reservation they brought us right to our table. It was dimly lit on purpose, but perfect enough to see the menu very well staffed. We probably had somewhere between five and eight different people attending to everything that we needed. It comes with a homemade butter and fresh rolls that were phenomenal. My girlfriend got the lobster bisque, which was great. I shared with it beautiful presentation as well. She had a couple cocktails that she loved and a glass of wine we shared a massive bone in ribeye that was cooked perfectly. That chimichurri sauce was a great accent. We also had the asparagus in the loaded potatoes which were cooked perfectly. I enjoyed every aspect of our night there I would recommend it to anyone in the neighborhood or even outside of Boston definitely worth the drive as good as any place you'll get in Boston for sure read more

Really disappointed in my first impression with Mason's. I want to preface this by confirming I did not get the chance to try their food, so this review is purely based on the experience and lack of service. I came in for brunch with my son and mom. I was so excited to try it for the first time. We got a table quickly, which was great. My son asked me for water and I told him that our server would be there soon. He asked me again 5 minutes later, still no sign of our server. He started crying (he's 3), and I'm looking around and trying to make eye contact with someone who could help us. I was going to get up myself and get water from the bar, but I thought about how sour of an experience this already was I couldn't imagine staying. At this point 10 minutes passed and no one greeted us. I was shocked. We grabbed our stuff and walked out, as I was leaving I mentioned to the host that no server came and we waited 10 minutes. She just looked at me, no apology or attempt to make things better. I'm pretty sure the manager was standing there at the front as well but he was too preoccupied to realize he just lost service and $100 from brunch customers. Great new steak house in the south shore. Finally got to try it. Beautiful restaurant in a former Masonic lodge. They have valet parking across the street. They have two levels, downstairs more formal and upstairs more relaxed and for large groups. We sat upstairs, much brighter and less noisy. Out service was wonderful and the food was too excellent. One of the owners stopped by and welcomed us. Owned by the people who own the fuji sushi places. I had the bone in ribeye for my entree and my gf had the filet. They were cooked to the right temp and they use wood to cook their meats, which gave a nice smokey flavour to the crust on the steak. I enjoyed it and will definately be back. read more

I feel like I need to say a lot about the one, perhaps because my expectations for a new declared steak house drew me to this location and a very cool building they decided to make there debut. So first the ambience, it's a nice place, but honestly , I do not want to see a TV bar so close to my table.( See pic from our table) Result, a loud atmosphere, and just not fine dining aside that NO table cloths exist for a place that feels it can charges 88.00 for a NY bone in strip. So overall, it is at best a 2.0 ambience... Maybe upstairs is better, but it was not open. Do not sit on bench closest to the bar. Design wrong, the bar looks nice, should rip out the bench dinner seat that backs up to it and create 1/2 wall, maybe a 20" glass on top ... Ok, now let's let to the food, that is why you are at YELP. Appetiser - shrimp cocktail. 3.0 .. 6 in an order Caesar salad ... You never saw one like this... Why try and get fancy, but it's not to split, the egg is silly, the crouton chunk ( like a small hard brick) is not practical, the dressing to heavy. Score 2.0 Dinner. Girl friend order Filet Minion - medium with char... It came as medium rare . I think they mixed up my request for med rare with her. Anyway I ate 1/2 of hers , it was ok... Solid 3.0 For me, I ordered a bone in NY strip 88.00 which as in any NYC steak house. It came out looking like a bone in ribeye, kind of round in shape and barely 1/2 thick. Med well, tough, just not a good cut of beef. No one can confuse a NY strip... That was not like any I have seen, and we eat all across USA , In NYC for 10 years, so spoiled. But score 1.0. the Mason sauce... Not good. For value this scores below a 1.0. We are from Hingham, Tosca does a much better job for less money. Boston, many choices, Moo,and Capital grill costs less than 88.00 much better. BTW ..the Caymus was 200.00 or 50.00 more than Tosca Potato Puree... Good, 4.0 Service 2.5. We went today for the prime rib brunch and honestly it was outstanding. I'm not even a buffet person but this was great. All the items were fresh, delicious, and well prepared. The prime rib had this fantastic au jus sauce that was pretty epic- it was the best rib I've had at a restaurant. They had a baked goods section which was also really delicious, with a bread pudding special which was fluffy and full of cinnamon. The service was incredibly attentive, without being too much. Very friendly as well. The ambiance was unique and well designed- highly recommend and would definitely come back! read more
