Warm greeting by the hostess and friendly, prompt service by Margo. Wonderful patio ambiance & service. it was difficult to choose from the many phenomenal items on the menu. We paired the vegetarian risotto, which featured the "chefs choice" varieties of mushrooms, with the crispy trout smeared with dill pickle aïoli (delicious!) which was served with cheesy grits and a few roasted vegetables. Both dishes were delectable! We finished our meal with the crème brûlée and a large dish of chocolate mousse. Both were absolutely delicious and it was well worth coming here this evening. We look forward to coming back, especially for the desserts and to try some appetizers!

Delicious food! Beautiful cozy cottage/ countryside aesthetic. The outside dining is gorgeous ! Service was prompt and our server was very accommodating! I would love more mocktail choices ...is my only recommendation. The flavors of every meal and dessert were balanced so well with all of our dishes, the ambiance was elegant and cozy. Thank you all so much for accommodating our birthday . Much success

For our quarterly bonus-celebrating bougie meal, my Elite besties and I decided to switch it up and visit a restaurant in Winston-Salem for a change. After some light research, we settled on 1703. We easily made a reservation at 7:15pm on Black Friday. Upon arrival it was clear that making a reservation may have been unnecessary as the restaurant was relatively empty. We also noticed that it was very dark and a little chilly temperature-wise.  We found it interesting that there wasn't a cocktail menu, but the waitress assured us they could make anything you could think up since they had a full bar. To begin we decided to share a bottle of wine. With the menu favoring seafood, we opted for the Jean-Marie Sancerre. It was light and crisp and the perfect accompaniment for our meal.  A basket of bread was provided as a snack shortly after we received our wine. The bread was a little on the crunchy side and the butter that came with it was salty. We also shared a couple appetizers. We ordered fried green tomatoes and shishitos peppers. I was a little disappointed at the execution on the fried green tomatoes. The tomatoes were sliced very thin, so there wasn't much flavor from the tomato itself. All you could taste was the breading which was very salty! Then the dipping sauce that came with it was salty too. The shishitos peppers saved the appetizer round as they were quite tasty and not nearly as salty so it helped balance out our palates. For my entree I ordered the scallops. Our server gave us the option of ordering half portion salads to go with our meals, which is very smart. We all decided to make the addition, and I chose the mixed green salad. There wasn't anything special about the salad, but it was nice to get some extra veggies in. The scallops were perfectly cooked and tender. The eggplant caponata and mixed olive tapenade were nice accoutrements.  To end we shared two desserts. We ordered the creme brulee and the apple cinnamon crisp. I wasn't particularly impressed with either of the desserts. The apple cinnamon crisp gave me oatmeal vibes. The fruit and ice cream on top were the best part. We were impressed with how quick the service was but that could be due to the restaurant being so dead on Black Friday.

If you are looking for ambiance, excellent service and amazing food.... 1703 is the right choice. It's cozy and intimate, the chef is creative and so talented and the service is consistently great. These pics are from the "takeaway" menu which was great but I recommend dining in for the best experience. And the best crab cakes in Winston Salem! Seasonal menu and a beautiful patio too

Service was great. Dimly lit restaurant and very welcoming for groups. I got the okra fries and potato soup. I honestly thought that I was ordering a bowl and not a cup. Portions were small. The rose flight was $17. Id love if they allowed online reservations. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is similar to steakhouse food.

I was able to Google a few restaurants that offered 5 star quality service and food, near the top of the list was 1703. They did not disappoint. White table cloth with an extensive menu, full bar, and also offers specials for some drinks. Food was delicious with many options. I tried the meatballs, and I definitely made the right choice. The service was quick and they answered every question we had. Went with a group of 8 people and everyone there was satisfied.

This upscale neighborhood restaurant, just off Reynolda Road, has been around since 2000 and offers some of the most seasonally creative dishes in the entire area. It started as a catering operation, and has added the current venue for lunch, dinner, and brunch meals, available weekly. This is place has a comfortable feel to it, at least at lunch when the traffic is less. The interior is nice and relaxed, and the outside seating is very popular, and seems prepared for almost any weather condition. I've had the opportunity to eat here 3 times for lunch (may make a dinner meal at some point - it's a goal), trying Sea Bass, Quail, and my very favorite, Duck Confit. Duck Confit has been a favorite from the very first time I had it at a French bistro in Paris in the late 1970's. I have even made the dish myself and was mostly pleased with the result - but this dish was at a whole different level, all you could hope for. Perfectly prepared, topped with a tasty cranberry compote, and resting on mashed potatoes as that should be! We finished up with a delicious scratch made pudding with fresh berries and cream - great end to a memorable meal. The service was impeccable - we arrived at 11AM only to find they began lunch service at 11:30. The lady at the front told us to come on in, have a seat, and they would take a drink order - total class!

I've been dying to go to 1703 since I moved back to the triad and we finally got the chance this past weekend! Of course we got to sit on their beautiful patio which was covered and fully stocked with comfortable pillows and blankets in case it got chilly as the sun went down. Our servers were all so knowledgeable and many of them had worked for 1703 for 10-20 years so they knew lots about the chefs and dishes. We got quite a few entrees from the trout, crab cakes, veggie platter, and salmon and everything was served with local veggies, a sauce and micro greens. Everything was seasoned well and the star of the table was the crab cake which was loaded with lump crab and the veggie plate which had an array of wild mushrooms and Persian carrots. For dessert I'd recommend their lemon, goat cheese blueberry tart which was tangy and sweet in the best way. All around this is one of the best meals I've had in Winston and I can't wait to go back!

I had valentines day dinner here tonight and it was beyond amazing. It was my first time coming here and it really lived up to the hype. We started with fried green tomatoes and lumpia. They were both the best version of either I've ever had. We then had sea bass, lamb chops and filet mignon because we couldn't decide on just two entrees. All three were fabulous, including the sauces and side items, everything flawlessly cooked and plated beautifully. Finally for dessert we had crème brûlée and a blueberry lemon goat cheese tart. I'd say of all the food we had, the goat cheese tart was the least impressive but still good, but it's crust was a little overly thick and dense. The service was impeccable for the whole meal and they gave us a rose and chocolate as we were leaving. A really great introduction to this restaurant!

Tiny table in the corner was the perfect spot for anniversary dinner. Nothing left of the filet and the pork chop ordered. The fried green tomato appetizer was a pleasant surprise of thinly sliced tomatoes brined and then batter fried. Quite tasty!

From start to finish 1703 delivered. Parking was a bit tight but once inside it was very quaint. The food was freshly prepared. Presentation was great and it tasted even better. My pasta was made fresh! Al dente With a delicious light pesto sauce. Their menu changes daily. I ate the whole thing! This is a great place for a date or special occasion. It has outdoor seating but it was booked outside.

Although it's tucked away in an unassuming business district, this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the warm, inviting space and exceptional service. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the attention to detail throughout our meal was outstanding. We started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. It was served over a bed of crisp sliced cucumbers and the most amazing vinegar coleslaw. The combination of flavors was fresh, light, and memorable. Even the warm dinner rolls were outstanding and set the tone for the meal. For our entrées, the meatloaf was everything comfort food should be. It was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, served over creamy mashed potatoes with fresh French green beans. We also ordered the Chef's seasonal Squash Casserole, and it was phenomenal. If it's on the menu when you visit, don't miss it. Milner's way exceeded our expectations: wonderful food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere made for a memorable evening. We will absolutely make the trip back the next time we're in Winston-Salem.

The dining room offers a mix of traditional tables, semi-private booths and a bar area. They also have a private room available. The bathroom was very clean and even smelled fresh. They had a good mix of music and a television is available at the bar. Now for the really important stuff. The food was absolutely amazing! I tried the Moravian cookie-pecan crusted salmon with collard greens, zucchini. The meal was a nice size and tasted amazing. I ate every bite. For dessert, we tried the White chocolate-almond bread pudding with vanilla bean ice cream. I'm usually not a bread pudding kinda girl, but this was the exception. Like everything else, it was delicious. This was an awesome visit. HIGHLY recommend!

I didn't expect the restaurant to be busy on a weeknight, but I was obviously wrong as the parking lot was nearly full. We found a spot at the rear of the restaurant and made our way inside. We were promptly greeted and shown to our table near the fireplace. A quick glance around confirmed that the place was jumping, which is good news for any restaurant during the middle of the week. A good balance of menu options from salads, sandwiches, fish, steaks, etc. Expect to pay $20-30 per person and some entrees are ala carte. They appear to have a good selection of wine, beers and cocktails from the long list in the menu. I went with the lasagna; my wife had the fish and chips; and my colleague went with the Beast Burger. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their selection. The temperature of my lasagna could have been a tad hotter, but it wasn't enough of an issue to send it back. I would order it again. Service was good throughout our visit, but I am deducting one star for the noise level. The high ceilings give the restaurant a beautiful lodge look and feel, but they make for a very loud dining experience. The sound level at times was more like a school cafeteria in my opinion. Perhaps a table on the side of the dining room would be quieter where nearby walls could help absorb some of the noise. Bottom line: not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner.

Here's what we thought: **Goat Cheese Butternut Squash Ravioli** Delicious but my Dad thought it was a little rich. The couple of bites I tried were excellent! The chicken was moist and well seasoned. **Moroccan BBQ Pork Chop** This was the best pork chop I've ever had. Moms agreed! Dad wished he had gotten the pork chop! This was his favorite out of the three meals we tried! **Prime Rib** I had to go all in and got the 12oz. It's the best prime rib I've had in years! They serve it with au jus and creamy horseradish. That creamy horseradish is exactly the way I like it, the au jus was a nice addition and the steak was cooked perfectly! I will definitely order again! This was my favorite out of the three entrees we tried. **Crispy Brussels Sprouts** We weren't as thrilled about these as everyone else. I thought they were dry and needed something more. Maybe they didn't add enough jam and/or balsamic this time? **Chorizo Potato Soup** Very nice! The sausage wasn't too overpowering and I like the creamy broth. Different than anything I've ever had but good.

When we first walked in, it was busy and we heard the hostess tell the couple in front of us they would need to wait over an hour for a table - Lucky for me my wife made reservations and we were seated immediately! It was a bit on the noisy side but not so bad we couldn't have a conversation. Our servers, Thomas, was fantastic start to finish with good recommendations, attentive service without being overbearing, and a great personality. Good staff make a business shine! We started with glasses of wine and were impressed with how generous they poured. Perhaps it was a visual illusion, but they felt like very large glasses of wine and made it feel like a very good value. They have a good selection of wines to choose from along with a full bar. Appetizer was the Crab Cake Egg Rolls, something I don't think I've seen anywhere else. They're cooked in Beef Tallow which gave a very savory flavor and crispy texture. They were a bit on the oily side but overall flavor was delicious, and I really liked the dipping sauce which was like a very herb-heavy tartar sauce. For entrees, my wife had the Filet and I had a New York Strip. I don't have the words to describe how delicious and perfectly prepared both of these were. I didn't even bother asking for steak sauce because the perfectly tender and seasoned steak didn't need it. Nobody wants to pay high prices for a steak and receive something low quality, and I was thrilled with the quality of the steaks here. Surrounding tables likewise had great looking meals and I overheard them voicing pleasure too. As sides go, the baked potatoes and salads were excellent too. I got the hot bacon vinegarette dressing and was surprised it was actually served quite hot. It had a really rich and slightly tangy flavor that was unique and I really enjoyed on my salad. I have no complaints here and will absolutely be back. Of course it's on the pricey end, but this is the type of establishment you reserve for a special night out, not your average Tuesday night. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!

There was a 20 min wait and we were starving after a long travel day and eager to get to campus so we ate at the mediocre crepes restaurant next door instead. One of the hostesses mentioned there would be seating clearing at the bar within minutes, which was good enough for us. We sat down 3 minutes later and ordered a few minutes after that. My daughter went for a cheeseburger which she happily ate stating that the food at Wake was NOT good all week. My husband enjoyed his turkey club and packed the other half for his flight later that evening (lunch and dinner). I went with the crab cake appetizer, which I thought was just OK. It was only a few dollars cheaper than the sandwich so I probably should have gotten that instead, but didn't want to be tempted with the bread and fries. No other way to describe it. I also loved the fact they served it with warm and toasted bread pieces.....added another depth of flavor to the entire bite. Entire thing was filled with crab meat as well. I'm used moreso to the chunkier style of crab dip, if that makes any sense, but whatever they did to theirs passed my test. For our entrees, we both opted for burgers. I've been waiting something that isn't a smash burger for quite sometime. No disrespect to smash burgers, but I've been wanting a thick, hand patted burger and they delivered. I ordered the tavern burger with the medium cook and a side of fries. Burger cook was perfect. One thing I loved was that the actual patty had char marks on it & it added more flavor to it. Very juicy and flavorful. Their fries were solid too....crispy yet soft in the middle. My wife got their bacon jam burger with a well done cook and she raved about how juicy it was. The cook was to her preference as well. She wasn't too impressed with the pasta salad as a side, but she did get an order of sweet potato fries and they were great as well. Finished the evening with their carrot cake and key lime pie to go and they were both delicious. Their key lime may be the best I've had in this area. Our server Morgan was awesome as well. Very attentive and helpful with the menu suggestions and explaining the things she personally liked, along with what was popular with other patrons. Their setup is odd....not saying that in a bad way, but its an older building and the layout says that. We were seated very quickly. Again, Morgan was awesome and made sure we were taken care of. The ambiance was good....very apt for a date night. Didn't get the chance to check out any of the other dishes around, but everyone seemed pleased with the service and the food. The side salad was larger than expected. I didn't care for the dressing. It was not a traditional Caesar taste or texture - not creamy, more of a vinaigrette, and gave the salad greens a slimy texture.
