Super fun and laid back bar/brewery in downtown Winston. Enjoyed some tasty beers prior to dinner at this casual and comfy spot. It's a large space with plenty of seating inside. They also have a garage door style opening that adds a great indoor/outdoor vibe. The best part is that The Trophy (right next door and connected) is owned by the same owners as this place. You can go back and forth with drinks if you choose to, they just keep separate tabs. You can pick and choose between a laid back vibe, or a bit more upscale with high end cocktails and an extensive bourbon list. Our favorite place to grab drinks in Winston! They have the best bartenders and the space is big and comfortable. They even let the garage doors open during the warmer weather days. I love that they have drinks on tap, bottles/cans to buy, and a full bar. There is nothing these guys don't provide. They even have THC seltzers on tap and to buy from their fridge which has been my go to lately. They also make the meanest margarita in town and I'll die on that hill. Absolutely love this place! What a gem. We've been a few times to have drinks inside/on the patio & then have also stopped in for to go items from their bottle shop area. Always excellent, friendly service. They make you feel like family and that's hard to find these days. Selection of wines and beers to go is extensive and you get a discount! Can't beat that. There is a nice lounge area in the back for more intimate talks. The middle has a bunch of tables and bar seating and then the garage door windows roll up in the front and there is some bench seating outside. read more

We were in the downtown area after dinner and decided to look for a place to enjoy a local beer and chose Dogwood because we saw they also offer a wide array of canned beer for purchase. We had to circle the block a couple of times to find a parking spot but once we did it was just a short walk to Dogwood. We took a seat at the bar and were immediately greeted. The interior is cool and comfortable with an industrial feel. I chose an IPA made in Asheville, NC which I enjoyed. We then made our way over to the coolers and put together a 4-pack of IPA's to go. The prices on the canned beer are not cheap but they do offer 30% off all cans which are individually priced. We saw varieties of beers from all over the US, a few we recognized from the west coast but we appreciated all of the North Carolina brews as I enjoy a good hoppy IPA. If beer is not your thing they do offer seltzers and we also saw wine as well. Great experience and we would recommend to others! read more

I noticed that in some reviews people mentioned poor customer service, so I wanted to address this first. I have not experienced that at all. The bartender was attentive and offered recommendations for some local restaurants. I had a mango cider on draft from Sebastopol, CA. It was the only cider on draft, but there was plenty of choice in the can in the fridges. I hardly can imagine anyone who can't find what they are looking for here. The atmosphere was casual, maybe a bit too casual. The town appeared to be pretty quiet on a Saturday late afternoon, so there were very few people there. I would consider coming back later at night where hopefully the overall vibe is a bit more lively. read more

This is really nice clean place with several highlights for beer lovers. The trophy room is attached and they have an excellent whiskey and liquor selection. We didn't eat, but the sandwiches looked pretty good. They had at least 14 beers on tap that made a nice variety with a few pretty rare very high rated ones. Zach, the bartender is very beer knowledgeable so it's a great place for craft beer novices and newbies. On top of the tap list they have a large cooler Of cans and bottles available for onsite consumption and to go as well as a package to go selection. Dogwood is our favorite spot to go out in Winston. Their beer selection, both on draft and in cans, is curated and diverse. Every time we visit, which is weekly, there's something new and unique. Breweries from all over NC are represented and Dogwood always gets the newest releases. If we catch wind of a really good, hard to find beer via Untappd, the odds we find it at Dogwood are high. What makes this place special is it not only serves as a great bottle shop, but it's a super fun atmosphere to just hang out in and drink with your friends too. It's so much fun to pick out a can and kick back for a while. Nice job, Dogwood. Not to mention, the staff is super nice and that goes a long way. read more

This was my first time coming in here and I really liked it! The hours are great and the atmosphere was laid back and inviting. The person working was incredibly friendly and helpful, checking in and answering questions as needed. There was a good selection of beers on tap, with even at least one each of a seltzer and cider option. There were even more options to buy from, from shelves and coolers. I had seen several unique selections and left with 6 individual cans of new things to try. I am already looking forward to going back soon! First time here and absolutely love this place. There were about 15 beers on tap, and then a ton of coolers lining the wall opposite of the bar that had an insane amount of different canned and bottled beer. There were so many options that it gave me anxiety and took me about 15 minutes to decide what I wanted. The bar tender was super friendly, there was ample seating an areas with a couch, TVs playing the football game that was on. As you walk into the place you have the choice to go to the left or right. Left is a bourbon bar, right is a beer place. Left is dark and nice..right is bright and nice. A perfect Yin-Yang! There is a good selection of draft beer and a big cooler full of bottles and cans. Bartender was pretty knowledgable about the selections and helped Tere find a beer that was right for her. They also serve paninis, there were several options, I can remember one called the Rocky Balboa, I'll have to try one on the next visit. read more

Couldn't ask for a better beer place. I've gone here a number of times, for both casual drinks with friends, and mossy recently, to watch the College Football National Championship game (yes, this is a solid place to watch sports). I love that they have a great selection of beers from across North Carolina and that the bartender is willing to let you try a couple beers before you order. Another amazing thing about Dogwood is the ability to create your own six pack to purchase. Across from the bar is a wall of maybe six refrigerators filled with all types of beer, and you can mix and match a six pack and take it to go. And of course, if you see anything in the fridge that you want to enjoy at the bar, the bartender is happy to crack it open for you. Between having beer to go, and having an extensive list of beers on tap, this is a solid place to get great beer. Finally, I must add that the food menu is incredibly limited, but they make some phenomenal paninis! It might not sound like much, but I think it's worth checking out if you ever find yourself hungry while enjoying the beer. read more

This is one of my absolute favorite bars in downtown Winston. This place is two separate places under one roof. One side is a whisky/liquor bar with a darker and quieter setting and the other is all about beer and wine with sports on tvs or music playing. What keeps me coming back is the amazing craft beer selection between the taps and the bottles/cans. This place has the largest variety of craft beers downtown by far. There are some Sundays where we wake up and are entirely too lazy to go to brunch... I go to the fridge and I'm disappointed all my bubbly is gone... has that happened to you? Well when it does we walk to dogwood and get a cheap mimosa. They are 3 bucks and let me tell you... they taste like I made them at home. The ratio is It also doesn't hurt that we can bring take out (I'm looking at you crafted chips and queso) to enjoy since it's right next door. They also always have a great draft list and if there isn't a draft you don't like I'm sure you will like one of the craft beers they have for purchase on site. They have some really great potential and I intend on coming back to try it since it has been around longer now. The service was good, everyone was friendly. Me and my buddy TJ went here for a quick drink as we were waiting for our table at Crafted to open up. It was my first time here and it was surprisingly really really nice. I enjoyed t very much as it was a nice and relaxed atmosphere. We just both got a Red Oak, and it was standard, but the service was really good, and the bartender was every friendly. They have TV's for games to watch which is nice and I think they serve food too. Not like bar food or anything but more of an appetizer type of deal. I did see a guy at the bar with a very fancy assortment of wine and cheeses that looked good. They also have these see through fridges of craft beers which was really cool. The wide assortment of colorful cans and glasses made it looked like some type of mural done by Michelangelo or something. I would come back here for sure, just make sure you are not hungry. Sweeet brewery DTWS. There are two doors when you walk in, I think to the left is your full bar and to the right (where I went) is your beer/hard cider. There was just a wall full of different refrigerated beers and ciders you can choose from. The bar tender was super cool and helped my fiancé make a selection from the vast and endless options. This is such a great addition to the growing scene on Liberty Street! A nice little bottle store where you can pick from draft or one of their many coolers for your libation of the moment. I tend to go for what's in the coolers because it's a little bit cheaper and you have so many more options. I've probably tried more new beer in my 3 visits to Dogwood than I have this year. There's also a back corner with more options but these are more to take home. They are also currently serving a few sandwiches, but I haven't tried one out yet. I got to speak to the owner a few weeks ago and I just loved everything he has planned for this shop and it will be so great for downtown Winston Salem! One of the best beer selections in Winston. The atmosphere of this place is awesome. Very relaxed and laid back with the option to go into their next door neighbor which they also own, Trophy Room. They have panini sandwiches available for purchase. The beer selection is amazing. They normally have upwards of 10 unique beers on tap as well as a ton of fridges filled with cans and bottles. You can take them to go (at a discount of 25% off) or buy them and drink them there! The cases are organized by different types of beer and my favorite is the sour/cider two fridges all the way on the right. Overall, love that this place offers a relaxed vibe paired with the option of more of a "partying" vibe on the trophy room side. read more

Great beer and fun time. We love that Trophy Room is next door and you can go back and forth. Bar tenders are hit or miss. Sometimes they are super sweet and sometimes they are super rude. My husband and I normally close our tabs due to a bad experience and once the bartender at Dogwood said, "it's a lot easier on us to leave your tab open you ass hole". Having cocktails at the Trophy room next door, was able to order the hummus plate from Dogwood. Two kinds of hummus with pita, crackers and carrots to dip. traditional hummus was excellent. The other hummus was probably sesame and was very very salty (I think it was garlic salt). I liked it but if you have high blood pressure, I'd probably stay away from it. We stopped in during a Yelp elite event and I was pumped as I had been wanting to go here for ages I just don't find myself in the area often enough! Well I was just as pleased as I had imagined I would be! The guy behind the bar was super nice and helpful with us during our beer selecting process. North Carolina beers were $1 off that day which was awesome! Another awesome aspect of Doogwood is being able to carry your drink next door with you to The Locker Room whisky bar since they share an entry way. As someone who adores beer and avoids whisky it is neat to be able to go back and forth with my beer if I am with someone who would enjoy a drink from next door! I am reviewing both Dogwood and Trophy room together, as I view them as being inseparable and perfect compliments to each other. Dogwood regularly has a good selection of local craft beers on tap, and can supply you with any other beer you seen in a can/bottle. Their food is fine - grilled cheeses, cheese platters, etc - but I wouldn't rely on this place for more than a quick bite. Trophy room (connected through a corridor in the back) has a wide selection of whiskeys and a number of great crafted mixed drinks. The best part of this place is the contrasting atmospheres between the two bars. Dogwood feels like an ideal location for casual after-work beers, while Trophy room feels like a place you can take a date or client for a more intimate atmosphere. read more
