"Don't judge a book by its cover!" Definitely didn't expect what we got! The wonderful server, Felipe, was so kind and friendly. The place definitely looks like a lounge place, all black inside, but it was a kind place. There were families inside and games being played. My family went inside and we got all different things so we can share, except one family member. We got the different items- steak fries, buffalo chicken fries, spamaroni fries, nachos and quesadilla. I got the quesadilla. It came with sauce, sour cream, guacamole, and chili flakes. My quesadilla had steak in it. The nachos ( which I didn't get a picture of) was packed!! So much food. Also it was such a blessing that a lovely man paid our lunch! Thank you sir!

My family was in the area and decided to stop for a quick bite. Since it was earlier in the afternoon, it wasn't packed. We were instantly led to a table and given menus. Our server was Felipe and he was so friendly! We decided to share entrees but I loved the Nashville fries (they had just the right amount of spice). Each fries set was delicious, the quesadillas were fabulous and the nachos were delectable! Service was quick and easy and the area was nice and clean. Definitely enjoyed the trip.

We were on a club crawl for Halloween and stopped in here for a bite. The atmosphere was festive with all the costumed patrons. I was a little disappointed in the wings though. I was hoping for fried wings and they looked baked or naked. The tenders were too crispy almost burnt. We didn't ask for a makeover because it took a while to get our original order. The service was good. Unfortunately they don't offer military discounts.

Went here last night and honestly had such a good time. The steak nachos with chimichurri fries were fire, packed with flavor, and the spam fries were one of those "I didn't know I needed this in my life" kind of things. Everything came out hot and fresh, perfect for sharing but also dangerous because I wanted it all to myself. The vibe of this place is what really sold me though. It's got that fun, lively energy where you can eat, drink, and just hang out without feeling rushed. Full bar with solid drinks, good music, and the kind of crowd that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. Shoutout to the staff too--they were on point. Super attentive, always checking in, but chill at the same time. You could tell they actually enjoy being there. Definitely one of those spots I'd come back to just to vibe the night away again.

Found this as the #1 spot when I searched Yelp for dinner/burger because I was craving a burger.. The burger itself was maybe a 6/10- tasted how I would if I stayed home and made it myself lol Cool like spot though! I liked the ambience in there, cool little casual spot. The servers were all very attentive and quick! They had also just gotten their liquor license so I'm hoping to go back there for some drinks soon!

Fun and spacious bar in Midtown serving proper bar eats. We had lunch there and came on a day when they offered $5 hot dogs (and hot links). Score! We got one of each, Grand Theft Avo (chips and guac) for our starter and Nitrous Nachos (steak nachos). The portions are generous and made for sharing. The hot dog and hot links were actually quite good and not one of those 'picnic' type of hot dogs...you know what I mean lol I would get both again, preferably when they are on $5 special! We wanted to finish with something sweet so we shared the Shopzookie. The cookie was thick and chewy topped with healthy portions of ice cream and whipped cream. Lots of seating, clean, and service was attentive very nice. Lots of street parking all around.

Came from an event on Thursday night and was starving and The Shop Midtown was close by and opened! There wasn't much people inside as a whole since it was a weekday, but there bar area was full. We asked for the menu and sat at the tables. We all ordered the classic smash burger, hot rod smash burger, and steak chimichurri sandwich. I really appreciated the food coming out quickly since we were HUNGRY. My classic smash was good! The meat was juicy and the portions were great. I was told the hot rod smash burger and steak chimichurri sandwich were delicious. The sandwich was huge and a big hit! I'd also recommend trying their house made ranch as it went well with the fries. I believe it was the owner who brought the food out to us and he was super friendly! Came to check how the food was and even came by to chat. He gave all of us a $5 off card. They have karaoke night on Mondays and bingo night on Wednesday!

Came on a wednesday evening, earlier around 6pm! to our surprise it's more so a hidden area and gives a dimmed light vibe. we didn't know it would be a bingo night either, that was a fun little twist to our date night. everyone and staff were friendly and welcoming! we ordered garlic parmesan wings and the steak chimichurri sandwich. it was huge. honestly could feed about 4 people rather than the two of us. id highly recommend the wings! the steak was a bit salty. overall we had a very good experience and would come back to try the smash burger because that sounded delicious!

My friend and I recently visited for an early visit and were impressed! Inside is no frills but they had tv screens playing the NBA and NHL playoff games when we went which was nice. The service was incredible, everyone was friendly, helpful with menu substitutions and even made sure our portion size on our chicken strips was appropriate by giving an additional strip to our order. Their chimichurri fries were delicious, I would definitely go back just to eat these again. The meat was cooked perfectly, seasoned well and the fries were still crispy. The chicken strips were ok, and the reason I couldn't give the shop 5 stars. The exterior was too greasy from the frying oil but the breading was crispy and the meat was juicy. I also got a to go burger for my husband who ate it an hour later and still said it was a really good burger.

The best food after midnight in the area. Came in around 1 on a Saturday and it was lively, had a DJ spinning and people drinking but I came to eat! Staff was attentive and although busy, they were constantly checking on people and keeping the place clean and tidy. We ordered a smash burger ($20 4.5/5 bread coulda been a lil better but at this point we are nitpicking, it was good) and the Chimmichurri Sandwich ($30 4.7/5 and if I had one compliant is that it should come with larger or more onion rings. One per half sandwich leaves a lot of open real estate). Worst thing we got were the fries but they were decent. Good meal, staff were great and open late, 4/5 Def worth pulling up. Looking forward to trying something else but the Chimichurri was so good I'll probably order it again.

The Shop Midtown is the place to be! I came on a weekday evening, and I love the laidback retro vibe inside. As soon as I walked in, I was told that it's open seating, but we had a reservation and were seated on the couches. Ethan was our server, and he was very welcoming and gave us great recommendations on what to order as first timers. We ordered the Nitrous Nachos, Chimichurri Steak Fries, Hot Rod Smash, and saved room for the Shopzookie at the end. The Hot Rod Smash was by far my favorite! This burger is over the top in the best way possible, and it was the best smash burger I've ever had. The steak on the nachos and fries was well seasoned and so tender. Al and Ben, co-owners, were awesome, and I'll definitely be back! Pro tip: Follow the Shop Midtown on Instagram to learn about their daily deals. On Wednesday nights, they offer free bingo and the winner gets $10 off their tab. You won't want to miss out!

"If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it's yours. If not, it was never meant to be," Was awesome the 1st go around, but dam - "2nd's the BEST." -Was hungry and curious if Shop Midtown would still be as LEGENDARY as it was on my previous visit. If something ani't broke, why change it. Got the Hot Rod Smash again. The essence of seasoning and spices excel from the smashed beef patty nestled under a ton of fixings.. "Dam, it was good." -the Fam craved the Classic Smash; flavors was just as good. - NITROUS NACHOS: this thing was a BEAST. Skirt steak was well seasoned - very tender w/ a citrusy tang. The cheese, pico de gallo, and the entire kitchen sink kicks things up a notch. Great for sharing w/ the homies or a random stranger. LOL -Staff: cooler then the 1st time we showed up. They actually remember the FAM and I. Super cool, this will be our "GO 2" burger and brew spot. -

The shop is a cool bar/restaurant to stop by. My sister, boyfriend, and I stopped in for a quick bite after an event downtown. It was a Monday so they were having a karaoke night! The host and servers were very polite and created a good vibe. We shared some wings and chimichurri fries. The food was good, not exceptional, but it did what it needed to do for a quick bite at a bar. The Mary-HI cocktail is good, kind of tastes like sparkling water. I loved the layout and think this is a cool place to hangout with friends. They offer TV and various board games to play. I would love to go back and participate in the karaoke on a Monday night!

The fries were actually pretty good, an above average standard French fry with salt. The burger however was phenomenal. There was an amazing crust on the outside reminiscent of a backyard bbq. There was ample bacon, lettuce, cheese and sauce to make it a balanced bite. The bun was high end brioche style, they really went all out on quality of ingredients. And they are still there after almost 12 years! Both Bruce and I are very picky when we go somewhere to have what we think is going to be a 'freshly made, and high quality beef hamburger.......'; BUT when it ACTUALLY is, and it is such HIGH quality in the entire meal (the burger, the bun, the REAL ice cream shake, and the freshly cut batter dipped, and very crispy and HOT fries) falls into this category, then I am going to be very honest with my review! This quaint, but very good sized Burger Drive In is FLAWLESS in everything!!!! The decor, food, owner/and staff, and the prices is PERFECT! The meal was so large and good, that I could not eat it all. Then when Patricia gave us 2 of each of their specially fresh made dipping sauces.......well, I could not have been more happy! BUT what set this into the 'Winners Cup' arean for me, they had REAL Reese's Peanut Butter and she even made it possible for me to have it on my FRESH and very high standard double cheese burger!!!! PERFECTLY Perfect as Mary Poppins would say. HIGHLY recommend this secret gem right almost next to the world famous Gunther's Ice Cream on Franklin Blvd. Thanks SO much for the experience; Patricia!! We will be back very soon, as I cannot wait to have the FRESH Fruit Blackberry Shake! ** Bruce had the Barq's Root Beer shake and he loved it!

If you're comparing it to In-N-Out or Five Guys it can hold its own. But these stars aren't putting it against a sit down with a server taking your order type of restaurant. First off, the service was stellar. I was wearing a veteran shirt and as I was ordering the person asked if I was a vet and proceeded to give me a discount for my service. She said this is normal and you can show your ID etc for it. There was no reason for her to do that so it surprised me. I also had a guy ask me if my table was clean enough as he was walking around cleaning up. Then later after I was on my way out he asked if I was happy with everything I had. The staff definitely made me feel welcome and happy I spent my money there. I got the double Mushroom Swiss, fries, and a soda. The first bite into the burger I was pleasantly surprised. I read some reviews about the burger being bland. Idk what they were thinking. It was a good burger. I'm not telling everyone I know they have to go there for their next meal, but it was a good burger. The fries were good. The serving was ample. I bought the Hot Mess spicy Ketchup. It was unclear that I could just get ketchup so I thought you had to order the dipping sauce. If you like spicy it definitely had some kick. I think I was expecting a lighter spice. Either way, it was good. Next time I'll probably just get regular ketchup. I wish they had malt vinegar. That would have really made me stoked. Inside the decor was nice and clean. Parking was super easy as well. If you live in Sac you know that sometimes that's really the most painful part of going somewhere. They have a huge parking lot. Overall I was happy with the experience. I'd definitely go again. I really wanted to try one of the shakes. They looked good. I had heard from a bunch of people that it was a good burger and overall I wasn't let down. Like I said at the beginning you can't compare it to a regular sit down restaurant but for what it is, it's definitely worth stopping in and grabbing a fast-ish meal!
