The place was pretty busy with other seniors and they all were happily enjoying the 50's flair. Yelper husband had a beautiful club sandwich with a side of onion rings. He was pleased as punch and even had a dish of peaches included in his meal. I opted for chicken salad sandwich. It was delicious. Often chicken salad is bland, but not this one. It was very tasty and filling I'm pretty finicky about clean and well kept. I gave a "just ok" on that part of this review. Service was prompt and pithy. Seriously, come here for the homebred rolls and can muffins alone!! We came here for a very late lunch at around 3pm on a tuesday. There were a few people inside. AND WHY don't I heed my own advice and have homemade pie first?? Goddamn it - foiled again. If the rolls were that good I cannot imagine how good the pies (AND FRIED pies!) are. ah well, I'll have to try pie another time. I live in the neighborhood so I've been going there for 6 years. The customer service has gotten even worse. They are not friendly to African-Americans. I had a horrible experience a couple of days ago. They were out of certain sides so waitress,decided to give me what she wanted she handed me my bag with an attitude, as if I was frustrating her when I asked what other sides did they have , so I asked for my money back, The old lady with glasses at the register seem to be upset that I asked for my money back. This is a quintessential American diner. When you walk in, it's like every great diner you've been to your whole life. Chicken Fried Steak - very good. Biscuits - excellent. Soft and dense. Gravy - very good. Pancakes - excellent. These are heavy, not light and fluffy. But they are really good. Cinnamon roll: good Eggs - ordered over easy, came out over medium -hard. This is one of my highest recommendations. I ate here around 12 on a Friday when It was the most packed. Even then the noise was not too loud and the diner refused to play obnoxious music. I've always had good food here, and not once have there been any issues. The food is also fast to be delivered, coffee is good and hot, and they are consistent. The price is also very reasonable, making it a lovely Saturday morning breakfast place. The ambiance is what you'd expect in a diner: plenty of room, lots of booths, and clean bathrooms. Years ago, I would frequent the Dallas location when I had errands in Dallas. I attempted to visit this location previously, but they are closed on Sundays. Back then, I would always order the Denver omelette and I did just that. The omelette had plenty of onions, bell peppers and ham. I prefer when the cheese is within the omelette rather than on top of it. Not many places offer orange marmalade, so I took advantage of topping all four pieces of toast with it. Although there was a large sign on the wall advertising the various pies, I assume no one orders one for breakfast. I went to pay and the lady (I assume owner) took my money and again I don't think she appreciated my business. I asked if she could me 4 - 5 dollar bills for a $20. This is hands down my favorite Mama's Daughters location. They've given us the best service and food every time. We are always greeted with a friendly "hello" and a smile. If your body is needing some home cooking this is the place to stop. The chicken fried steak is always on point (I should know, I get it almost every time we go) so if you're having a hard time choosing from all the yummy options I highly recommend it w/a tossed salad, Mac n cheese, & mashed potatoes n' gravy. We popped in here for a quick lunch. Definitely a good ole country diner with lots of regulars that visit on the daily, I'm sure. Lots of great lunch selections with good prices and yummy options. We were greeted by our server and he returned after sometime with our bread and took our order. The bread was warm and buttery- biscuits, rolls and corn bread, wow. I love small diners at breakfast time and this one did not disappoint. All the employees are super night and welcoming. There's the typical diner that old men meet at to discuss life over coffee. The food is always hot and fresh when it makes it to our table. I'm not a huge breakfast person, in fact, I typically skip it but my husband has to eat breakfast otherwise it will mess up his whole day. I also don't eat eggs or eat pork. Not having been to this location in more than ten years, it was a bit of a surprise to see that the biscuits were almost flat, and the gravy wasn't quite right. Also, the hash browns had been put a little too thickly on the flat top, so the insides weren't quite done right. On the flip side the eggs and ham were perfect! Also, the blueberry pancakes were very tasty, and the coffee was hot and strong. My husband ordered a bowl of homemade beef stew ($5.77) and I ordered the #2 Breakfast Special - 2 eggs with toast and sausage ($5.15). The other folks in our party ordered Fried Chicken with Macaroni & Cheese and Fried Okra as well as another breakfast entree with pancakes. The prices for breakfast are very reasonable. They also have Daily Specials ($8.27), burgers, sandwiches, salads, sides, pies and cobblers. Overall, I thought my breakfast was just "okay". The eggs were cooked perfectly, however the toast was too crumbly (maybe it was old/dry before they put butter on it and toasted it). I thought the sausage would be links but were actually sausage patties and they were a bit dry and overcooked. The service we received was good and we were in and out pretty fast. The only odd thing was that our waitress dropped off individual bills (4 bills total). Maybe this is something you need to disclose prior to ordering. I haven't been here in almost 10 years. I ordered food in the time of the coronavirus pandemic, and I couldn't have been more pleased. I ordered the chicken fired steak with a side of macaroni and cheese and fried okra. It was all delicious! I'm very picky about fried okra being too slimy, and this was perfect. It really was the best choice for comfort food. The best part about the pick up experience was the attention to detail. They had place markers noting where to stand to maintain the 6 feet social distance rule. The lady who checked me out made sure to wipe down the pen with a sanitizing wipe before she handed it to me, then wiped down my credit card before handing it back to me, and gave me a wipe to go!
