The restaurant had opened for brunch several minutes prior to my arrival. The bar was still being prepared for the brunch crowd. Because the weather was cooperative, the windows of the enclosed patio and the bar were opened. Diners were able to sit at the bar in the patio area. The bar was initially staffed by a single bartender. Not only did she introduce herself, she also asked for my name. As I needed a menu, she asked the host for a stack for myself and other diners. A second employee, not as friendly, arrived sometime later to assist setting up the bar. There were some minor inconveniences arriving this early. Because I was the first to require a refill, the bartender had to get a coffee pot from the kitchen. Afterwards, she kept the pot at the bar. I decided on the Breakfast Egg Rolls. Not sure how something tagged "new" can be a house specialty. The breakfast jam lacked flavor. The egg rolls were saved due to the taste of the fried wontons. Of the two sauces, the maple syrup was better than the spicy hollandaise. The hollandaise lacked both heat and spiciness. When I was served coffee, I was not provided either cream nor sweeteners. As I did not notice any nearby, rather than wait to have the her return to the kitchen, I decided to give it a sip. Surprisingly, the coffee tasted great. My past experiences have been way different and better! They used to have a great happy hour, so thats why we went back.... The happy hour now is pure shit!! We got the tro, with mozzarella sticks, pretzel bites, and Asian roll! Nothing was hot just like they picked it out of a heat lamp buffet! Applebees probably could've done better especially for the price point! My ice tea was gross and asked for a water instead... then when it came to the bill I had to go through an act of congress just to get the charge removed! This place used to be great... Such a beautiful day to sit out on the patio for lunch! Both of the people who waited on us were fantastic; they had great recommendations and checked in on us multiple times. The drink selection was also great. The strawberry pineapple margarita was strong and refreshing, and the adult capri sun tasted exactly like someone who ordered that drink would want it to taste (my husband). He followed up his drink with a beer because if you're over the age of 25 I wouldn't recommend 2 adult capris suns! Lastly, the food was great. Our waitress suggested the spinach artichoke dip for our starter and she was spot on! Food feels expensive for what it is. Two of our four meals tasted like they were microwaved bar food. Salad ingredients were stale. Our server Carter was told. For six years they have had an out of date menu on their website. Example, online it says chicken fried steak is on the menu. It isn't and hasn't been for 6 years. How much effort does it take to maintain up to date information on your website. For drinks and watching sports this place will be ok, but after given it a 2nd try multiple years apart, we won't be back. Wish them luck. read more

I love this little part of town, and the restaurant inside is nice, and menu offers lots of tavern-like options. we came for lunch and it took about 5 mins for us to even be acknowledged at the "hostess stand" when we were seated we were greeted by an unenthusiastic waitress. The 3 of us ordered the buffalo chicken mac and cheese and the plate of "choose your own" 4 appetizer plate. The mac and cheese sauce was pretty loose and not very cheesy, The buffalo chicken was mostly breading. The 4 apps came out med-warm and I didn't love much there either. we got the Southwest eggrolls, the fried Jalapeños (maybe the best of the lot), some soggy sweet potato fries and the same over-breads buffalo chicken wings. Maybe the thing to get here is a burger or the fish and chips...people seemed to be enjoying those around us. read more

They have done a great job bringing in the tavern feel and ambiance. The place has a really nice vibe. The service was really good. Our waiter was was attentive without being obtrusive. He checked in regularly and got us everything we needed. Our food came out in reasonable time and was fresh and hot. I ordered the Lemon Pepper Chicken. It came with mixed veggies and mashed potatoes. The chicken was good but the lemon was a bit overpowering in some bites. This location is awesome, we began our dinner with a drink or two outside while we waited for a table. If we had a smaller party, I would have loved to have our entire meal outside. Not only was the weather perfect, but the ambiance and server were great, too. It was a perfect start to our dinner. Once we moved inside, we still had a very positive experience. The best part was the team of servers that we had to ensure our party was well taken care of and there was no issue. It was great to see everyone work together so easily. The drink menu is a bit small, but the options were very nice and had something for everyone. The food isn't quite as good as I had hoped - everyone said their dish was okay, unfortunately nothing was a standout. The mac-and-cheese was probably the best, collectively. I have only been to The Tavern at Lakeside a couple of times. Sunday Brunch was very nice. We had 8 people and service was perfect. Lately, when I go to restaurants with groups of people the bills are always messed up. Our waitress had all of our bills separate and correct before we even asked if we could get separate checks. I had a pineapple mimosa and the chicken biscuit. My next visit was a girls night on a Tuesday. 50% off signature entrees is pretty nice on Tuesdays. I had the Redfish which was delicious! There is a nice selection of wine and beer along with a full bar and signature cocktails. It's definitely a spot that I want to continue to go to, because of the large variety of food choices, great service and location. Both times the restaurant was crowded, especially Tuesday night when there was a full restaurant inside and out. It has a party atmosphere. read more

The burgers consistently get rave reviews and have been called the best burger you can get in Flower Mound at a restaurant (Flurry's is a strong contestant for during the day burger grabs). Come for the service! I had an issue with my tuna being "off" (think, tasted like licking the inside of a dirty aquarium) and the server took care of it immediately and was super empathetic. Then, after ordering my replacement meal (cup of tortilla soup), they brought a bowl instead - and when reminded, they were apologetic and took care of that, too. The tortilla soup was good and brothy, just like I like it, with cubes of tender chicken and a few slices of avocado. (No tortilla strips, though? Maybe they were broken up in the soup and too soft/small for me to notice?) What I can't recommend (at this time) is the tuna atop the salad (pictured). The salad underneath it though? DELICIOUS. I hope it was a one-off bad piece of tuna I experienced though! The place was really lively for a Wednesday night at 9:30. Stopped mid afternoon for drinks and appetizers. They have some interesting happy hour choices. We ate it side and enjoyed the atmosphere. Peeked inside and the place looked cool. We had some beers and the brisket fries and southwest egg rolls. Beer was cold and good list. The egg rolls were served with a southwest sauce and a Korean style sauce. I was pleasantly surprised with how good everything was. We got the cheese dip which was excellent. It's really for a party of 4. We couldn't and barely put a dent in it. I also had the Shrimp risotto and my wife had the chicken pot pie. Both were delicious and we both took the leftovers home and ate them. I'd definitely go back. There is more I'd like to try. I ordered the salmon plate that comes with bussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. The menu does not mention that the dish has bacon bites on the sprouts. I CAN NOT eat bacon due to religious beliefs and after eating a few bites of the meal I noticed the small bacon pieces. I was so upset and called for the manager. I explained to the manager that the menu does not state bacon (which it should) she apologized and asked if I wanted them to make it without bacon and I said fine. After getting the "fixed" new dish, I ate a few bites and noticed bacon bites again. I was so furious and called the manager again to show her. She apologized again. I had to demand to take it off of my bill. I started questioning if this was done on purpose the second time. I walked away hungry and so upset that I was forced to eat bacon. I visited this location for a work lunch on a busy Wednesday afternoon. I ordered chicken strips, fries, and a salad. First thing, service was great, no issues there. Our orders came out fresh and pretty quickly despite the busy crowd. Unfortunately, the good review ends there for me. Walking into this place reminds me of the Cheers (tv show) - seriously though, it feels like a neighborhood bar where everybody knows your name. People are friendly and the venue is warm and cozy so you feel like home. It's hard to explain but you can come here to watch sports or bring the fam or a date for some intimate dinner. I love the signature old fashion here but also opt for the Adult Capri Sun when I'm feeling playful. Pick any menu item and you will love it... I swear! Great portions and so flavorful!
