Calamari- good, bruschetta okay- hard to eat because the focaccia-like bread didn't hold the bruschetta. Flavorful though. My son loved the gnocci and its soupiness and daughter enjoyed her salmon. I had the "baked" ziti and wasn't a huge fan, although nothing was bad. It was just like a pasta sautéed with tomato sauce and Italian sausage rather than a baked dish. Chocolate cake was huge. Tonight (03.01.26) was my first time visiting this restaurant. I ordered the Chicken Piccata. It came with pasta and spinach with a sauce (I'm assuming some kind of lemon sauce). It was underwhelming to say the least. The chicken piccata was moist but flavorless and not crispy. The pasta was bland and the sauce was too watery to stick to the pasta. The spinach was just basic. The food was 2/10. Our waiter was okay. He check on us only once but it was fine as neither of us needed anything. Services was 5/10. The ambiance was nice. Each table had a lamp that lit the table well. It seemed most tables were "booth" style and that gave each table some privacy which was nice. Ambiance was 7/10. Service was outstanding. No one's going to accuse them of stepping outside the box in terms of offerings, it's basically 6 classic Italian dishes that are on the menu. They don't offer wine outside of "house wine", which I didn't bother to try. The ambiance of the place is great, they really need a menu and drinks to match. We came to 1860 Italia for my friend's birthday and had a really good experience. They have happy hour from 5 to 7 PM where all appetizers are half off, plus select alcoholic drinks, which is such a good deal. We ordered the bread to start, which was simple but really good, and the calamari was amazing. It was cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside, and not overcooked at all. Easily some of the best calamari I've had in College Station. For drinks, we got the blueberry basil gimlet. It tasted like a blueberry mojito and was super refreshing. It didn't taste strong at all but definitely was, so just a heads up. Really good and easy to drink. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo with grilled chicken and it was delicious. The portion was huge and I was really hungry and still barely finished it. The prices are a bit higher than average, but the portions are big and the atmosphere feels very nice and more high end. Service was good overall. We were wondering if they would do a free dessert for my friend's birthday, but they didn't hehe. Not a big deal, we got dessert somewhere else after. Not a place to go if you wish to speak with people at your table. The atmosphere is terribly loud. Also, not fond of the surprise 3% surcharge for using a credit card. Linguine and Clams - Birthday Boy loved and says it's definitely a cravable entree that he would go back for. Cooked perfectly medium rare, cut like butter. Didn't want the onion rings it came with, but it came with it. So just sent them home with one of the kids. Where was the management? Our drink order and then food was lost. It took 30 minutes it get our first cocktail. Then the food took an hour after we had been there... Was it the waiter or lack of management paying attention. We were asked by the food delivery person what we ordered because they were behind in the kitchen. A manager should have stopped by. We were waiting a long time for EVERYTHING. Then charged for EVERYTHING without being asked or acknowledging that we waited much longer than the table that was sat 20 minutes after us and had already gotten their food. For as expensive as this restaurant is the management needs to be present and the servers should be more accountable. Thumbs down! I've been here a few times and those would all be 4/5 stars. This time, however, was disappointing to say the least. The ambiance has always been overwhelming. The restaurant is dim, but some random lights were white lights while majority are yellow so it just gets confusing. It's also just generally very packed. What really separated this experience from previous times though was the fact that the red gravy was very bad. This is the most redeemable quality of the restaurant, but it was way too sweet this time and made our food nearly inedible. The tiramisu is amazing and probably my favorite in BCS. Lastly, the most upsetting part about our experience was our waitress. Every single person in that restaurant was given a bag for their to-go items, but ours gave us three boxes of different sizes and expected us to just walk out with it. I had to ask her for a bag. She also charged us for replacing the Italian sausage with a beef meatball in the Baked Ziti. I think it's kind of insane to charge extra for a meat replacement that costs the same on the menu (both $6) in 2025, especially when it's because of dietary restrictions. It's also extra upsetting considering last time we came they didn't charge us. Overall, I am extremely disappointed and walked out very unhappy. Not sure I'll be coming here again. read more

We love sitting at one of the booths in the bar area, and we always tell the waiter "we are on a date- we aren't in a hurry"... they are always so kind and let us take our time to order wine, appetizers, more wine, food, more wine and dessert. The dry aged ribeye is EXQUISITE, the Akoushi chicken fried steak is EPIC, the calabrian chili sauce with lump crab meat in it is an out-of-this-world experience. Pair it with a bottle of the Camila malbec, always order the calamari and the pepperoni fondue (WITH EXTRA HOUSE BREAD- trust me- go ahead and order extra when you order the fondue- you can thank me later). The chicken Marsala had somewhat dry chicken breasts in a soup of light sauce and mushrooms, the fettuccine was just pasta in heavy cream (and yes the pasta itself was good, but the cream didn't really have much flavor of Italian seasoning or Parmesan), and the appetizers were mostly average expect for the fried mozzarella (that was the only enjoyable dish I tried). After my stepsons "ring" ceremony we visited 1860 for dinner. The food was insanely good but I want to emphasize that the service was equally great. Francisco aka Frankie was excellent. His descriptions of the different dishes, including the specials was very detailed and informative. The Ambience was good and we like the vibe of the restaurant. The only issue, the food was cold. The last thing we wanted was cold Baked Zitti and room temperature Spaghetti. Been here several times before. We ordered the John Harvey Salad & the 1860 Chopped Salad for pick up which we've ordered before. The portions we received was meager at best. The John Harvey salad used to be huge and have plenty of prosciutto and meat. The Chopped salad looked like a small side salad with very little chicken. Very disappointed. Very disappointed with their customer service! I made a reservation for lunch and it was for a large party. I wanted to change my reservation to dinner time. I called and they said there was only one person who handled this and gave me her phone number. I called and texted but did not receive a response. It has been 4 days since I called and texted. I followed up 2 days ago. No response at all. I contacted the restaurant again yesterday to cancel my reservation and told the hostess the reason. I am a huge fan of Italian food, so I was very excited to try this place. We went on a week night around 6:45 p.m and there was already a long wait inside, but we were like why not. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated. It was a little noisy in there, with all the tables being closely sat together. This would be the only thing holding me back from coming back here again. The food on the other hand was absolutely delicious! My Husband got the Chicken Alfredo and I got the Clam Linguine! The portions were large in size and so worth the price and wait. This is my first time at 1860 Italia. I decided to visit this restaurant due to the high ratings on Yelp. However, it did not meet my expectations at all. Restaurant: The environment of this restaurant is very lively. There is music playing on the speakers and a louder noise level from the customers. The lights are dim and there are plenty of tables to sit at in the restaurant. There was no wait time when I arrived at 4 but started getting busier as dinner time approached. Customer service: Typically, I do not give customer service its own paragraph but the service here is awful. We immediately got sat down at a table and had to wait 20+ minutes just to finally flag down a waiter to order our drinks. The waiter rarely came by our table and other tables were receiving their food before us even though we ordered before them. We never got refills for our drinks which were much needed after eating a salty appetizer. We also had to wait a long time just to get our check as well because our waiter was just standing talking to his coworker. House made bread: Most Italian restaurants give some sort of bread at the start for free. At 1860 Italia you have to pay $4 for bread. $4 for bread is not too bad. The bread came warm and it was a decent size. However, there was really no flavor to it except salt and maybe a hint of garlic. It really needed some oils to dip in or some sort of sauce. Lasagna Bolognese: My friend and I both ordered this dish yet her portion came much bigger than mine. We both paid $18 for this disproportionate sized entree. The entree itself was mediocre. There was not enough sauce in the lasagna so it was fairly dry. The sauce on the lasagna is sweet and the lasagna was cheesy. I could really taste the ricotta cheese and there was big chunks of meatball. The edges of my lasagna were kinda burnt which I wasn't a huge fan of the taste. Overall, I would not visit here again because the food is just alright. The service is terrible and most of our time was sitting there looking for our waiter.
