Worst meal we had in Barcelona. We ordered the turbot (€110+), which was mistakenly delivered to the table behind us. The waitress not only brought it there but also went through the full carving and plating presentation for the wrong guests. When they realized their mistake, the dish was taken back from their table and simply re-delivered to us after a few minutes, already carved and portioned, with NO acknowledgment, NO apology, and NO attempt to make it right. It was obvious what had happened: the other table had ordered much later, yet we ended up with the leftovers of what should have been a premium, beautifully presented dish. Look, mistakes happen. But the complete lack of accountability and basic hospitality was unacceptable, especially for one of the most expensive items on the menu. With prices like this, I expect transparency, courtesy, and some effort to correct an error of this magnitude. Instead, we were served carelessness disguised as service. Im usually not one to write reviews like this, but this place was absolutely terrible. read more

Was recommended by someone that was a good place, super delicious blah, blah, blah. Waiter was super rude I've never been so I asked her what she recommends giving me attitude didn't really give me recommendations. After I wasn't sure what to order so I asked then a guy came he explained what they had he was cool! But they got mad over me not knowing what I wanted, they were serving other people 30 mins went by still didn't serve me I told waiter if they were gonna bring my food. Also waiters were right in front of me not doing anything just hanging out talking amongst themselves. They finally brought my food after finishing food the asked waiter for check she ignored me, asked again she said hold on with attitude I waited she finally came asked what I needed told her if I can get check to pay. Even one of the chefs was just giving me dirty looks so I gave him dirty looks. Other girl brought my check not the original waiter honestly horrible service don't recommend go somewhere else. Beautiful rooftop for drinks over Port Vell - service is good; everyone is polite and can speak English quite well. I was slightly underwhelmed with the food which is why I've given it fewer stars. We tried a lot of dishes but none stood out except for the seafood paella, which was quite an impressive medley of seafood and yummy, crispy rice. read more

Delicious in an exceptional location by the yacht club with direct views on yachts, a promenade buzzing with people close to the Edition hotel. The food was exceptional and very nice service. We had the seasonal plates - asparagus with a lemon mayo which was light and refreshing. We also had the tuna tartar and sausages. Everything was absolutely amazing and we all agreed that the sausages were the best we have had. When in Spain a paella is a must so of course we went for it and it didn't disappoint. Unfortunately we had some much to eat that we were too full for desserts. We are still in Barcelona for an additional days and may go back as it was quite a memorizable lunch. Side tip - the restaurant is in the museum building on the 4th floor. On a roof top with a view of the port. On top of a museum is this restaurant. The elegant experience is truly a view from the top :) The terrace is fantastic and the food although not the best in the town; is good. I don't recommend the octopus. It was beautiful to look at and presented nicely. It was a bit rubbery. We couldn't get the staff over early enough to have them remake it and decided the cost was worth the extra hour we took just drinking and enjoying the view and not the effort in making a fuss. Reason they only get a 4 star. Service was not fully up to a 5 star performance and the kitchen had to have known that octopus was over cooked. But now you reader know what to expect and what to avoid. But the view. The restaurant is elegant. Damn I would have loved the food to be the crowning glory here. My partner said she found a place she wanted to go to with prime, dry-aged beef so we cut down an alley and found it. We were surprised to find the restaurant - 1881 - was in the Maritime Museum. When we asked for a table, they asked if we wanted cocktails and we said dinner. The host and hostess at the door were finely dressed so we thought for sure we were going to be turned away. Chris was still smartly dressed from work but I was touristing it up by being in shorts and tennis shoes. After minutes of the hostess being on the computer, she told us to go to the 4th floor. When we exited the elevator and made our way to the restaurant, I saw the huge meat dry-ager full of massive cuts of meat. We followed another hostess out onto a balcony on the water's edge. She took us to the faaarrrr end of the balcony. We were cracking up laughing as we got seated. The joke was they had to seat the riff raff far away from the elite. We were on the balcony edge overlooking all of the mega yachts in the harbor. We ordered two mocktails and some "still" water. A very abrupt and forward woman came to the table. She explained to us that all of the meat and produce comes from a family of farmers so it's all fresh. We checked out the menu and tried to figure out what we wanted. We thought maybe a surf and turf because Chris was getting the steak. We tried to figure out how much the steak would be. It was charged by 100g. I told Chris a 200g steak was a normal portion. The server came back and we asked questions. He explained that the steaks were big - 1000g was an example but that they were to share. The woman returned and Chris explained that we wanted to share the steak so she explained the sizes and ranges, etc. we ended up getting a 920g steak because it included the bone. It was a NY Strip and brought to the table for approval before being cooked. We ordered a side of fried wedged potatoes to go with. The server brought over bread and an amuse bouche. The two bites were skewers of an olive, three small green peppers that were pickled, and an anchovy woven through it all. The skewers were sitting in a pool of olive oil. The server said to enjoy it in one bite. Wow! What an incredible bite! I ate the rest without haste. It was the best single bite I'd had all trip. So good. When the server came to remove the plate, I exclaimed how much I loved it. He said they call it Gilda (heel-dah). Next task - find the ingredients to make Gilda. Our appetizer of Cod Fritters came out next served with a sauce of Romesco. I LOVE romesco. The fritters were similar to US crab cakes. We really enjoyed them. Our beast of a steak was next, served sliced on a platter. It was very rare but it was very buttery in texture. There was a distinct taste to the meat. We weren't sure if it was from the dry-aging process or maybe what the cows were fed. It wasn't bad - just different from what we're used to in the US. We couldn't finish it all. We had just two slices left though. I realized as we sat stuffed that I forgot to take a photo. Ugh! We ended up splitting a Crème Brûlée that was surprisingly cinnamony but sweet and creamy - just the ending we wanted. The staff were all super nice even though we weren't with the elite crowd. The view was incredible and the food was great. read more

As so many others have said, come here for the view! It was such a gorgeous view overlooking the water and you don't need a museum ticket to get in. We came in for a drink on the terrace and then lunch inside the restaurant (opens at 1pm FYI). Drinks on the terrace were kind of pricy especially for small glasses, but the view was worth the splurge. We started with the croquettes which were delicious, crispy on the outside and warm and gooey on the inside. We then got the seafood paella which was delicious! It was a big portion for two people so come hungry. We then ended with the Crema Catalan which was also delicious but we came across better ones in Barcelona. This was my first restaurant I tried visiting Barcelona and the ambience was perfect! It looks out onto a beautiful harbor and the decor was simple but elegant. They have this dish with anchovies and small peppers and I probably could've eaten that with the bread for a meal - along with some wine and be completely content. This was our favorite paella in Barcelona! (And we tried paella at every dinner lol) We came for dinner and it was dark so there wasn't too much of a view to enjoy, so we chose to sit indoors for air conditioning. This is right along the pier with all the yachts though, so I'm sure it's gorgeous before sundown. The vibe of the building is super fun being inside the museum. When you walk up to the entrance you almost feel like you're entering a night club. Food was delicious and service was great as well. We definitely ordered too much food for two people -- and the complimentary bread basket with olives and anchovies was a nice touch. Would definitely come back and recommend! read more

Oysters very fresh, we got the ribs they where ok, I got the seafood soup and it had 4 baby clams and small pieces of fish, order the octopus for my daughter and they bring duck. Sangria and oysters where good, I think there is more hipe about the name that the actual flavor of the food. FYI I love soup and this was a TOTAl disappointment. read more

The food- delish!!!! The passion fruit caipirinha to die for!!! Xavi is hands down the most amazing host/manager I've worked with in a very long time! He attended to every whimsical change of direction for my event and each specific dietary need and special request without skipping a beat. He went above and beyond- he is in a class all by himself. He kept an upbeat attitude, managed his team effectively and efficiently and was smiling the entire time!!!! I've been to the terrace several times and this place is a hit or miss. Here's a tip, call before going because sometimes they have special events and are closed to the public. This past time I went - the vibe was very terrible. The DJ (some chick) could not transition songs to save her life. I believe they're better off using Spotify or Pandora. The service is usually slow here and the cocktails range between 12-15 euros. The view and the location is great and that's why I keep coming back here. Till then, I'm on a hunt for another nice rooftop bar. read more

This place is located on the 4th floor of the Museu d'Historia de Catalunya on the waterfront. Tried this place out on a recommendation from our tour guide. The view is very nice. The service was impeccable. Very knowledgeable and friendly. We tried the poquillo peppers which were very favorful and tasty and not at all spicy. The mussels were also very tasty. The broth must be sopped up with the bread as it is incredible. We Finished with the rice and lobster soup which had great flavor but was a tad messy. Be aware- as in most places here, the menu indicated a price for the lobster rice, but also said a 2 person minimum. We understood that so were not surprised when it was twice the menu price as it is a per person cost. Probably one of our most expensive meals in Barcelona, but we enjoyed it all the same. read more

My visit to 1881 per sagardi was in the course of a private event, so I cannot say anything about the standard menu. When I entered the restaurant on the upper flor of the museum, I was greeted by friendly staff and a modern, simple but warm knterior. We were served drinks on the terrace, which overlooks the Barcelona prommenade. For dinner we were seated outside on the terrace, in an area that was shieldet from wind and rain by a sunroof that was opened and closed depending on the weather. We were served excellent wine, and a menu consisting of delicious tapas, a supreme duck confit and to top it off a crema catalana for desert. I can only recommend this place for private events, it is very special! read more

Excellent atmosphere right on the water. I would highly recommend when in town even though the service was a little slow. They tried and when in Barcelona you have to learn to relax. Five of us came here for dinner while in town for work. It can be a little pricey but there is a lot that can be shared if you come with a group. We got the seafood platter (parrillada 1881 that included mussels, oysters, shrimp, lobster, white fish) you order 2 servings at a time (100 Euro for 2). We got one less serving than people at the table and we could have at least one or two others easily partake. read more

I would give this zero stars if possible. Maybe a reservation online, which when I called to confirm, they never received. We made my birthday dinner reservation at this place because of the view; however, we Arrived at the restaurant to find we could not sit on the terrace to have dinner and would sit inside against a wall. Great food, awesome atmosphere. I think this is one of the best meals I had in Barcelona. Had tomato bread and it was perfectly crispy, salty and just the right amount of tomato and olive oil. We had a lovely evening at this restaurant. Situated inside the Catalan History Museum, the restaurant features a rooftop terrace that overlooks the harbor and the city. The farmhouse tomatoes appetizer was my favorite.
