I had made plans with a friend to meet up and she suggested this place. I was so confused because I never heard of it and when I looked up the address, I recognized the building. I was here years ago for an overpriced facial and never returned. Now, 1890 Tea House has taken over the main floor of the building and OMG they did an excellent job! I was attempting to find out any information prior to visiting but there was nothing listed. I had to be a good Elite and do my duty of providing everyone the important deets! I was honestly blown away! I was there before my friend arrived so I went inside to inquire about seating. I was informed there is only outdoor seating and the staff offered to seat me with menus. I was also offered water immediately while I waited for my friend. As soon as my friend arrived, a server was there immediately offering her water. We took a couple of minutes to look over the menu and then ordered our drinks. We had dinner plans for somewhere else but we were drooling over the food treats that were being delivered to another table. Our drinks arrived within a reasonable time. They really brew the tea as ordered and each tea comes in its own teapot! We were so excited! They have different flavors but the flavors are not listed on the menu so you have to inquire. There was great music playing but difficult some times to hear because of the crappy noisy cars driving by at times. We were there when the sun was going down and each table has a light under the umbrellas, which were being lit up. It was so cute! My friend went to use the restroom and was raving about it and made me go check it out. It had bidets and the toilet seats had warmers!!!! The prices were very reasonable and the service was impeccable, my friend and I agreed we are definitely coming back soon. we had lunch today. I originally reserved the tea room and didn't realize it was a small living room. I asked to be moved. the only place they had was the basement which was pretty lackluster in decor. there was a very large party of 2. 16 children and 4 adults. they were outrageously loud. we could not hear outselves speak! the wait staff did not Bing about them. I talked excessively and banged my hand on table. nothing. the service was slow and food passable. spoke to the "manager" who did not except give lip service. never returning or recommending. read more

Drove from Tampa to come here. Outside and inside look great. Very appealing. I guess the phrase looks can be deceiving is true. Staff were friendly and they checked us in and took us to our table which is in private rooms. We did get a bit creeped out because the rooms have doors and the doors have coded locks on the outside. Perhaps this is for locking the rooms at night so guests don't get in but very creepy. We wanted iced tea. Was advised yes they have it. We ordered the orchard peach. Came in a hot tea pot and the tea was hot with a cup of ice. Told that we can pour the tea over the ice. Well that just watered it down. The flavor of the tea wasn't good at all. Advised staff and stuck to our waters. I ordered the chicken salad on a croissant with grapes. I also got the Classic Ocala charcuterie cup. I was missing the aged cheddar, honey and roasted almonds. Told the server and brought bug cubes of white cheddar. I literally had to sit there and cut the cubes to be able to eat with the crackers and salami. Instead of roasted almonds, I had honey roasted peanuts. Like the mix from Planters. Don't advertise items on your menu and not serve what is described. The chicken salad was ok - had large and many pieces of celery. I think I had more celery than chicken! The croissant was so toasted that it fell apart in my hands when eating the sandwich. Not a good experience overall. Maybe it was an off day but left feeling very underwhelming. read more

If only I could give more stars!! The tea and food were delicious and beautifully presented! The staff was pleasant, accommodating, professional, and friendly! The kids we took were raving about how that was the best party ever!! After the meal, the server opened the door to the costume room and the imaginations were exactly how you may imagine!! The girls put on lacy gloves, frilly hats, ball gowns and jewelry and invented a story line role playing and dancing around! It is sincerely our most favorite place to go in Ocala!!! read more

We were a group of nine ladies. Expected an eclectic type of ambiance. We were in a room where we sat at folding tables and folding chairs. Nothing cozy about the room. Menu could be better. Need better offerings of sides than potato chips or grapes. Food served on dishes so small they were like dessert plates. Our server was nice. I was there for their "open house" which was sad. Seemed like no one knew about it. My friend and I were there for 2 hours from 11am and there were about 10 people walking in and out of it while we were there. There was no sign at the door about the event except two small open house flags (I saw when leaving) on the ground by the road. I walked all the way in and out downstair area and there wasn't a soul there to greet us or explain what's going on. I had to pull up the picture online to ask a bar staff when she finally showed up. She said just walk around and there will be people by the doors of each place to explain about it. Walk around where???? I asked, can we go upstairs? She said yes. Couldn't she explain more clearly (smh). Nice salons upstairs which is the only thing a star is for. Then I came downstairs to get a table for some charcuterie but I had to wait even though the place was empty. They had a total of two staffs on the day of open house and one had to stare at the other while she was preparing iced waters and mimosas. So I decided to checkout the massage room by the door but there was no brochure and the lady didn't explain anything about services. She offered a free session on the massage chair and gave me her card. Since I was just looking around to kill time while waiting for a table in an empty courtyard, I declined her offer and took the card. I was finally sat down after that. Then I kept seeing the staff coming around to help the other two tables, one with two and the other with three people, but she never took my drink order. 30 minutes later, even after she brought some snacks and waters to the other tables, no one came to help me. By the time my friend came down from checking out the salons, I had been waiting for 45 minutes. Then the other staff came and asked if I've been help. ‍ I told her that we decided to leave and we left. My friend and I were planing to order a single person charcuterie board which is $27 and you can pick 3 cheese and meat and crackers. Doesn't anyone ever wonder why the charcuterie prices are $58 for two people, $110 for four, and $225 for five???????? Who did the math???? Why would I pay $225 when I can order five single charcuterie for $135????? And how did 27x 2 is 58???????? What do you put extra for the two people charcuterie that you have to add $4???? Please if you're going to charge these funny prices, at least provide reasonable explanation. This place is funny. There is only one table indoor that looks more like a waiting area and only outside tables are available. Anyone who wants to come eat here should wear strong sunscreen because these cute black and white umbrellas won't do much especially mid day. You might not need their tan service after sitting there lol. And kudos to anyone who ate there during the freezing past two weeks. Can't wait until the summer. read more

I came here yesterday going in with the expectation it will be busy, being it is the day after valentines and also on a Sunday afternoon; as my myself and my significant other waited for an available table inside (it was too windy to go outside, although the outside is so beautiful I wish we could've sat there), we were temporarily seated at a table in the lobby area. The owner and staff were very sweet and accommodating, they took our order there and brought out our English Breakfast tea as we waited to be seated, which tasted amazing and we also got our own teapot with cream, honey and sugar on the side. We were sat in one of the private rooms down a hallway that was a cozy and peaceful setting, I think it would've been perfect if there was cafe jazz music playing in the room. We got the Afternoon Tea Experience, the bottom tier are savories, my favorite was the cucumber and dill sando followed by the chicken salad. The middle tier are warm scones, best with the lemon curd in my opinion. The top tier are tiny sweets, I loved the cheesecake stuffed strawberries the most. We also got Charcuterie cups which almost served as an appetizer...everything we had was delicious! Overall, it was a lovely experience! I was very disappointed by our recent visit. We waited 10 minutes for someone to arrive at the hostess stand, in fact if had not have called on the phone we may still be there. Despite the obvious lack of diners we were advised that reservations were recommended, even though the website says they aren't. we were given a private room, which while clean was dark and gloomy, wrinkled tablecloth and much to large for our party. tea service was very limited, burnt scone cut in half, fig jam and what was identified by our server as clotted cream ( hard and with a very spoiled smell) while it was mostly edible it was bland and with such poor presentation a more appealing tea tray could have been obtained at Publix for 1/3 the cost. very disappointing, a local tea shop would have been nice, but this fell very short read more

We booked a high tea luncheon six weeks in advance, expecting a proper afternoon tea experience. The night before our reservation, we were informed that the private room we had reserved was no longer available and that our group -- which included multiple elderly women -- would need to sit outside in 85-degree heat. That should have been our first warning sign. Upon arrival, we couldn't even get a glass of water. It took 45 minutes and multiple trips to staff just to receive water and have our order taken. The service was not just slow -- it was nonexistent. When the three-tier afternoon tea stand finally arrived, it was missing approximately 50% of the expected items. The presentation did not reflect a traditional high tea at all. The tea itself was served in a teapot filled with lukewarm water and a basic tea bag. It was clear that this establishment does not understand what a proper high tea experience entails. While the owner ultimately comped our meals, her behavior was shockingly rude and argumentative. Rather than acknowledging the very obvious service failures, she made false accusations and blamed our group for the issues. It was one of the most uncomfortable customer service interactions I've ever experienced. Unfortunately, with service and quality at this level, it's hard to imagine this establishment lasting long. If you're looking for a true high tea experience with exceptional food and service, I strongly recommend the Tilted Teacup Tea Room. They understand what a proper afternoon tea should be, and their food and hospitality are consistently spectacular. My advice: stay away from this place. read more

Great waitress,Annie, but it's a new business. out of chocolates the day before valentines but the croissants used in the sandwiches are spectacular!! The best I ve ever had, the coffee and chicken salad were very good. I mentioned I can t have potato chips and she was able to get some small fruits in its place I intend to go every week to try a different sandwich. The most enchanting time is Friday and Saturday night after rush hour. They have portable heaters and twinkle lights in the trees. $60 for a 3 tier tray for lunch, it was small, tasteless stale. I had such high hopes for this place. I was embarrassed!

We had a reservation for 1:15 and when we got there they kept saying oh it will be ready soon.... We waited over 45 minutes to be seated and we had reserved a pretty tea room and the room they put us in looked like a room straight out of a horror film. Dark, no windows. 3 giant tables (mind you there were only 3 of us) and the tablecloth was ripped and it smelled like smoke in there. We wanted to give it the benefit of doubt so we held out and ordered and it took 45 minutes to even get our food. The food was disgusting. Worse food I've ever had, the grapes were old and mushy. The cucumber sandwich was sour and the bread was stale and old. I'm 9 months pregnant and I'm really hoping none of what I tried makes me sick. I couldn't even finish any of the food and I'm pretty sure there was mold on the fruit. They also never came back to refill out water even though they passed by like 6 different times. We also passed by the kitchen and there was garbage and dishes EVERYWHERE. That was the first red flag that we should have not ignored. I really wanted to love this place but I can't say that we did. The came with my daughter and 5 year old granddaughter for a "girls day" and we were so disappointed. We ordered the kids cup (cheese, turkey, grapes, goldfish) and the. The 3 tier afternoon tea sampler with tea. Our hot tea came out after about 15 minutes with sugar, honey and cream and it was good. After another 30 minutes I asked our server if the kid snack could be brought out if it was ready and she brought it about 20 minutes later. Our 3 tier snack came out another 10 minutes later but without the scones because they weren't ready. After a total of an hour and a half I asked for our check and we told our server we never received our scones. About 10 minutes later we were brought out scones and the check. In all fairness we were given 2 mimosas that the server had made for the table next to us who decided to leave. Sadly besides the incredibly slow service the food was very average except for the hot scones which were really good and would have been even better with our tea hahaha! I asked if this was the usual speed of service and our server said they only had 1 cook. There were only 4 tables in the almost 2 hours we were there. read more
