I remember when we toured our venue for the first time and we weren't able to see the getting ready rooms, so I went on google and searched for photos and a blog post from 1985Luke Photography popped up. As I was looking through the photos from their blog post, I started tearing up like crazy and was hoping that our photos would come out something close to theirs. Funnily enough, I didn't know that they would be the most recommended photographer for our venue. I remember going back and forth due to the price, but you do get the both of them (Luke and Bre) for 8 hours, and we actually added an additional hour as well so we could get photo coverage of our first dance. Although my husband's parents covered the cost of photography, I would've happily paid for it because of how incredible our photos came out, and our overall experience working with them. I first met Bre over a video call and she was so kind and easy to talk to that I felt like our hour-long consultation went by so quickly. We did our engagement photoshoot at Filoli (I was running 30 minutes behind due to a last-minute hair & makeup addition), and they still waited for us on a VERY hot day, which I greatly appreciated. My husband and I were both a little nervous since neither one of us had done a professional photoshoot before, but Luke and Bre really made the two of us very comfortable the entire time, and we absolutely loved our engagement photos. Fast forward to our wedding day, they came in and knew exactly what to do since they've worked at our venue so many times before. I really liked how they weren't all up in our faces during our wedding, and I genuinely feel like I didn't notice them at all. As an events person myself, I absolutely loved the timeline that Bre sent over - it was so helpful to see the schedule for the day and every time I thought we were falling behind, Bre reassured us that we weren't. We received our wedding photos back in less than a month (so quick!) and I was surprised to receive over 1,600 photos. I can't say enough good things! Luke and Bre photographed our wedding on 5/17/25. The pictures are phenomenal. Better than I ever imagined! We almost didn't hire professional photographers and I am so grateful we did. I can't imagine not having our amazing photos (which they provided to us SUPER quick after the wedding!!). Bre was so informative, understanding, and worked with us to get exactly what we wanted. It's so easy to work with Bre, she is incredibly sweet. She and Luke are excellent planners. Perhaps the best part was how calm and helpful they were on the day of the wedding. We hired 1985 photography for our wedding this past weekend 03/30/24 at Willow heights mansion in Morgan hill . Best decision we could've made ! Bre & Luke are absolutely amazing.... I'm at a loss for words. I was not expecting to receive our pictures so soon And words can describe the feelings that take over when we look at these pictures. It was the absolute best day of our lives, and I don't think that could've been reflected any better than how they are in these photos by Luke & Bre. We had a large wedding party (8 groomsmen and 8 bridesmaids) and as you can imagine it can get hard to coordinate and hurdle everybody together, especially with a few drinks lol. Luke and Bre are AMAZING!!! They make you feel so comfortable right off the bat, which in my opinion is half of what you need from a photographer. Officially locked in my life long photographers. Luke and Bre were hands down the best decision we made for our wedding. Taking pictures is awkward. This husband/wife duo made the process so comfortable and easy. Along with some comedic relief (Thanks Luke). I come from an interesting family dynamic and Bre and Luke's ability to navigate my concerns with ease and normalcy was completely appreciated. They really know how to handle all situations from tricky family members, non cooperative friends, bustling of the dress (Thank you Bre!) and so much more. Besides being socially talented and wonderful, their work is brilliant. The detail that goes in to the shot is incredible. Making sure to get the right lighting and angles, posing you the right way down to your fingers and toes. Feels awkward, but the results are worth it. At one point I was over taking pictures and Bre insisted on a couple more shots and promised it would only take 5 more minutes. I obliged. I AM SO GLAD I DID. Where do I even start to say everything I want to say about Luke and Bre? I will start from the beginning of our wedding photography journey together. It all started with a recommendation from a friend who had recently gotten married. She RAVED about her photographers and I thought... anyone this well spoken about must be great. There aren't enough praise or review stars in the world for 1985Luke Photography. I feel so incredibly lucky to have stumbled on this gold mine of a photography team, Luke and Breanne. Like any bride, excited for her wedding day, I knew that I wanted to prioritize photography in my budget. Capturing all of the details, love, joy, and fun on my wedding day was absolutely essential to me. So, I started glancing through my venue's preferred vendors list of photographers. As soon as I opened 1985Luke Photography's online gallery, I was in absolute awe. Their photos were so dreamy, romantic, soft, and light. I immediately asked my then fiancé to look through the same gallery and he was equally as impressed. I anxiously reached out to them, praying that they would be available on my wedding date, because I didn't want any other photographers after seeing 1985's work. To my surprise (and relief), they responded to my inquiry within a day! We had a mini session with Luke & BreAnne and are SO happy and impressed with how well the photo shoot went and how beautiful the pictures turned out. I have been having my children's photos taken since birth, and this session turned out to be our most challenging one yet. My son was starting to get sick (we didn't realize it yet) and he was in the worst possible mood. He was being difficult and wouldn't smile and spent a lot of time pouting. Luke and BreAnne are simply the best! They just took some college graduation photos of me, and I LOVE THEM! I don't even know where to begin, my entire experience with them was amazing! BreAnne and Luke were very easy to communicate with, we emailed and text messaged a few times and quickly settled on a date and time that worked for all of us. We booked a morning shoot, and the lighting was perfect! Also, I didn't have a specific location that I was thinking of, and thankfully they have TONS of amazing location ideas all over the bay area. We ended up taking the photos along a trail in Morgan Hill, and it was the perfect location. I would never have thought of it. I am thankful they have such a sharp eye for beautiful outdoor backdrops. The day of the shoot, I had turned the entire trunk (and backseat) of my car into a portable closet..... Yikes. I am very indecisive, so the thought of putting together the perfect outfits with my (seemingly) limited wardrobe seemed impossible. In a matter of seconds, BreAnne, pulled a few things out and that was it. She had put together a few combinations that I would NEVER have thought of myself, and they were SO CUTE! I felt like the clothes I had worn over and over were turned into a couple of brand new looks. In the beginning, it was slightly awkward and uncomfortable to be in front of the camera, posing, by myself. However, Luke and BreAnne, quickly helped me to loosen up and feel more comfortable in front of the camera. They had several suggestions for different poses, so it got easier and easier as we continued the the shoot. When I received the photos, there were over 200 beautifully edited photos ready for me to download. Yes, all 200+ of them were edited, and I received them all. This is UNHEARD OF!! Most photographers give you 10 maybe 15 edited photos, and they choose them for you. This was not the case with Luke and BreAnne. It was so much fun to go through all of the photos! They were so flattering, and truly showed the best of me. I loved them ALL! I had a really hard time narrowing down my favorites to just 3 for my graduation announcement. I was living in San Diego during wedding planning and Bre scheduled an initial met and greet via zoom to talk through what to expects from them as photographers, pricing and package options, and overall just getting to know one another. I immediately felt at ease with how organized Luke and Bre stay when it comes to helping map out the photography for your wedding. They walked us through the process step by step: whether or not to do getting ready photos, deciding on first look and how that could maximize time for us at our reception while also being an extremely special moment, how to come up with family photo list and make it easy to follow, talking through how many romantic versus candid reception pictures we would prefer, and so much more. They were so much fun to work with throughout the wedding day and captured so many awesome moments for us. Not only were they stellar to work with leading up to and on our wedding day, but they have continued to blow my husband and I away with the quality and sincerity of their work. When they mailed us our flash drive of wedding photos they also included a very sweet surprise keepsake for my husband and I. Just recently we received a Christmas card from them which included a Christmas tree ornament with one of mine and my husband's favorite romantic pictures on it from the wedding. In response to the owner's comment: The ultimate issue at hand here is that this business did not give us more than a day's notice to cancel on us with the reason of not being the "best fit." If the business felt we were a bad fit and that I always added "new aspect" to the shoot, as stated in their cancellation email, they should have cancelled within a more reasonable time frame - even two or three days. As I believe I stated in my previous review that is incredibly unprofessional. None of this is "personal" but boils down to a reasonable expectation of customer service which includes adequate notice for cancellations. As my review stated, this last minute cancellation impacted other people, including my makeup artist, her babysitter, and my substitute. I had also rescheduled work that was taking place at our house so that we could be available. Many people were inconvenienced as a trickle down effect by this business's lack of professionalism. In regard to the owner's claim that I "publicly" blasted them: I posted a two sentence review to a neighborhood email list I am on, which people do also use to post recommendations or do-not-recommends from time to time, that was forwarded to the business: ("I do not recommend 1985Luke Photography. Very poor communication. Unprofessional. Canceled our Christmas session with only a day's notice. Won't call you during reasonable business hours, then blames the customer for confusion after misunderstanding emails. Stay away!") Granted this was written the day of the cancellation and came from a place of understandable frustration but I it is hardly "public blasting." I wasn't going around posting fliers of them all over the place for God's sake. :) I am aware they have other glowing recommendations and that they state they have never cancelled a session, but I would strongly consider whether or not you want to do business with a company that is willing to drop a customer day before their shoot simply because they have suddenly decided it's suddenly not a good fit. My advice to yelpers if If you decide to proceed is to not get locked into an email exchange with them and save yourself the headache and insist on phone and in person meetings. I take my reviews very seriously and this was not written lightly. I sincerely hope that this company never flakes on any of its customers at the last minute again. As far as this business being "saddened" by my review - I am not sure what they expected when they cancelled on their agreement with only a day's notice. People have the right to share their experiences both good and bad. If you don't want a negative review then my suggestion to them is don't cancel out on your customers at the last minute. read more

I cannot begin to describe how amazing Luke and Bre were throughout the entire planning process and how stunning our engagement and wedding photos turned out. They were extremely quick to respond to our inquiry and as soon as we spoke over the phone I knew without a doubt they needed to be our wedding photographers! During the entire process they were by our side to keep us calm, send us advice, and went above and beyond to make sure that we knew we had their support and love. Our wedding went so smoothly as they have built such great relationships with all of the staff at Willow Heights Mansion and I can only imagine the relationships they've built with a ton of other beautiful venues (they are the sweetest)! Luke and Bre are a great team to work with! First, we were initially impressed because they sat down to meet with us and chatted about who we are as a couple and individuals. They asked us what was important to us at our wedding and that really meant a lot. Second, we felt they would do anything to get amazing pictures! We were married in during the winter and there was an extreme amount of rain, but that didn't stop Luke and Bre from getting the best shots possible. They worked with what they were given and really took beautiful pictures! Rain or shine. Mostly rain. Bre carried the umbrella for me, Luke stepped in mud puddles. They did it without hesitation. Third, the quality of work is just unlike anything else. You can tell they love what they do because it shines through in their work product. Last, they are very nice people! We laughed, we cried, laughed some more. They were there for everything. They were very patient with us and our family, answered all our questions, worked with the venue. Even our family was impressed. We feel we were very lucky to have been able to work with them. We have beautiful pictures that will last a lifetime but what is equally important is how they made us feel on our special day. Words cannot even describe how fabulous this duo is! Luke+Bre are first and foremost, two of the nicest, most authentic people you'll meet. When you're not with them, you want to be! They are so kind, genuine, and beyond helpful. My husband, Jeff, and I booked them as our first vendor, after the venue, and it was so seamless from day one. They want more than anything, this to be the best day EVER and they'll do anything they can to make sure that happens. When we first met them for our engagement shoot, we knew right away we were in good hands for our wedding day. My husband saw one sneak peak after the shoot and said, "If that's the only pic we have, I'll be so happy!" We first met Luke & BreAnne in 2014 when we were engaged and had hired them for our wedding. Fast forward five years, and they've captured every major milestone of our life together-- including all three pregnancies and newborn sessions for our babies. The best EVER!!! We researched wedding photographers forever and after seeing some of Luke & Bre's work & a phone call, I knew we had found the perfect fit. They made it so easy to customize our wedding photography package and they made sure to keep communication with us for months up until the big day. I loved them before I even met them!! Before the wedding, Bre called me and we spent at least an hour going over the wedding schedule and making sure I felt comfortable with everything. We finally met Luke & Bre in person on our wedding day and let me just tell you - they are the nicest human beings ever. They made my husband and I feel sooo comfortable behind the camera and I loved the little banter the two of them had.
