Jay Tsai photographed our wedding in June 2009. He and his team were fabulous to work with! Upon meeting him half a year before, he was very friendly, open and very organized. You can tell he's very passionate about his work, and wanted only the best for us. Generally, when looking for a photographer, you want to make sure you like their style first and foremost. We felt that Jay was very consistent in taking great shots. He showed us his portfolio and a booklet of all the images he and his team took for a recent wedding. To us, there were no pictures that made us question his ability. Additionally, he was affordable and gave us way more than we expected. Jay set up a slide show during our reception that showcased photos he took in the morning and during the ceremony. It added a great touch to recap the day and our guests thoroughly enjoyed it. We received many compliments on his work. Now we can't wait to see the final results! Jay and his wife Peggy photographed our wedding in August 2012. They were very professional and wonderful to work with. We were referred to Jay Tsai through another photographer. Jay was very responsive with our request for pricing and availability, and we met with him at his home studio to customize our own package. I requested to view a full set of photos from a wedding, and he promptly sent over a few galleries from recent weddings. Their pricing was in line with other photographers that I had contacted, and I liked how you could pick and choose items with a la carte pricing. I was sold after seeing their beautiful albums. On the day of the wedding, Jay and Peggy were warm, friendly, and great at giving direction since we were mostly clueless on what to do. Our bridal party commented that it felt like we were working with friends. Jay kept things on track with our schedule, while still being very thorough with photos. He also kept his calm when the snobby venue staff was giving us an earful about taking photos in the member's lounge (which was supposed to be off-limits). Oops! They are not the fastest at replying to emails, and our proofs were delivered slightly late. However, I didn't mind because I was so glad to be done with the wedding stuff that I just wanted to relax. Speaking of which, it's already November and I still need to pick the photos for our album... I don't know why they don't have more reviews! read more

I cannot be more happy with our engagement photo session with Jay. Before meeting, we exchanged emails on ideas and locations I had in mind for the shoot. Our wedding was on June 2009 and this is truly a long overdue review. Jay and his team were Awesome! On the day of, we had an extremely tight schedule along with many hectic events that's involved with a Chinese/ American wedding. To make matters worse, our wedding was in SF on Pride weekend. Even with those challenges, Jay and his team were extremely punctual, accommodating, flexible, and reliable. They were so easy to work with and yet still managed to keep us on top of our schedule. Jay Tsai and his wife (a cool photo team who are totally in sync with each other) are awesome photographers! I got to see them in action firsthand as a bridesmaid at a recent wedding. They were so calm, easy going, and organized. In fact, he was probably the only person keeping everyone else on track with the timeline, which it appeared like he memorized! The wedding itself was at times disorganized and at any given moment the groom, various groomsmen, or family members were missing (they arrived late or would wander off). The bride was upset at times, but Jay was so professional, flexible, and soothing during these moments. He was able to quickly work around these inconveniences and stay productive with non-stop photos and shots. He was directive when necessary, and provided lots of positive reinforcement during photo shoots. I would have loved to have Jay as my wedding photographer! Highly recommend him! I've heard about Jay from others as well who had worked with him, and they had nothing but high remarks to say about how easy/fun it was to work with him and how high quality his final results were. read more

Jay and Peggy Tsai shot our engagement session and wedding day. We love how professional they are and it's incredible to have two photographers instead of one photographer and an assistant. They work so well together and with their different visions, you get the best of two worlds. It's amazing that their story-telling photo is able to re-create our day to the family that didn't get to attend the wedding. Jay and Peggy and their special eyes and they capture your emotions and the moment without trying to pose you too much. I especially love how much time they would spend communicating with you prior to your big day and how organized they are. They really made us felt important. Jay and his wife Peggy are great Wedding photographers. We had seen their work in action prior to our wedding during a family members wedding a couple of years ago and were extremely impressed. What differentiates jay Tsai photography from the rest is their on site wedding slideshow where they select photos from your wedding ceremony and display it at the reception. I can't think of a better way to share your special moments then to have it shown on the day of your wedding. Not an easy task considering the turnaround is a matter of an hr or two, plus they are capturing moments at your reception too. Our guests and us (the bride & groom) really enjoyed the wedding slideshow at the reception. In addition, they are extremely professional and experienced photographers. we have a large family and they were able to direct family members to get a great shot. Once again not an easy task with large groups of people and something I feel a lot if photographers lack. the photographers being able to speak mandarin is a plus too. we had our ceremony at hakone gardens and jay knew of all the best places to take photos. Jay and Peggy make an awesome duo! They are super friendly and professional, and really make taking photos fun. Jay scopes out the area a day or so beforehand so he can maximize his time with you and always comes up with unique and fun poses. They took both our engagement and wedding photos and were referred to us by a friend who had used them for her own wedding (her friend had used them at his wedding). Very responsive to email, and they deliver excellent, high quality photos. Jay and his team provided the photography services for our wedding and reception and they really did a fantastic job. We were very happy with the whole experience of working with Jay and his team and were very pleased with the pictures they shot. Highlights of the experience included: * The initial consultation was very low key and Jay did I nice job of learning more about our wedding plans, explaining his services and giving us a nice range of options to work with our budget. Also, it was readily apparent that Jay's team had a good understanding of both Asian and Western wedding customs. This was important to us since our wedding had elements of both. * Although we ordered one of the less expensive packages that Jay's company offers, they still went the extra mile for us literally and figuratively. They drove all the way down to Pacific Grove from the Bay Area (70+ miles) and also stayed an extra 30 minutes beyond what the contract called for. They did both this things without charging extra. * Their attention to detail was really excellent. The team did a great job of scoping the various locations of our Chinese tea ceremony, wedding and reception well before the actual events took place to scope out the best shots. I know this because I ran into them hours before our wedding checking out the location. Many of the guests at our wedding commented on how professional they thought Jay and his team were and how they managed to get pictures of everything without ever disturbing the event. * At the end of the day though, what really matters is the pictures and we are very happy with the results. Ultimately, the pictures are what sticks with you and our memories of our special day will always be enhanced because we have such beautiful pictures to remember all the details. Jay Tsai was our photography for our wedding on Aug 30th, 2008. He was great to work with, and our photos have turned out amazing. We had a multi-cultural wedding, and he was great with posed photos as well as candids throughout the day. He was open to suggestions, and yet, had a great list of photos he wanted to capture. He was never bossy, and worked well with both families. We had 3 sites, indoor and outdoor, including a banquet, and the photos were great. For the reception, he and his team (his wife!) put together a slide show from the photos from earlier in the day, and it was an incredible experience to see the photos (with effects and touch ups!) with my family, friends and guests from the actual wedding day! Jay and his wife Peggy take amazing photos. They did our wedding in 2008, and to this day, we treasure the photos they took. They are very low key and do a great job of being "invisible" during the ceremony and the reception. And yet, at the end of the event, you will see that they have taken thousands of amazing shots, and you can't believe that they were able to seize all those hidden opportunities to take those images. I particularly liked their photos that were natural and spontaneous (which were most of our shots). They were able to capture the bliss that characterized our wedding (like I'm sure most weddings) so wonderfully and honestly. No stiff awkward smiles for them.
