In the eyes of my teenaged son, there are three foregone conclusions - (1) everything is "mid", (2) anyone over the age of 22 is a boomer, and (3) barbers never give you the haircut you want. The first two are obviously untrue. The third one is not always true for every barber...although, to be fair, the barbers I have taken him to often disregard what he tells them he wants. So, convincing him to see a barber is a real chore most times. But, as summer approaches and he can no longer see past the bangs that reach his nose, I was able to get him to agree to see a barber. J.C. is the only local barber I saw on Yelp who had five stars. His prices were super affordable and we were able to get a same-day appointment. His shop is in the Sola Salon across from the mall. He spent an hour with my son, including a neck massage and straight razor finish. But, most importantly, he gave my son exactly the haircut he wanted and it looked fantastic. And, shocker of all shockers, my son said he would go to have J.C. cut his hair again...which is about the highest praise you can get from my kid. read more

I have thick, polynesian hair and struggled with other barbers because they'd always use an electric razor to cut the back and sides of my hair. This caused my hair to grow in a way where it would stick out straight and not fall down like I'd want it to. However, King (the barber) understands my hair type and how it grows after a haircut. To cut my hair, King meticulously uses a scissor cut and gives me a taper fade without using an electric razor! In result, when my hair grows out, it naturally falls down instead sticking out.
