This is a generational neighborhood greasy spoon neighborhood dinner/dive type vibe done oh so…read moreauthentic and well. Type place where you know what to expect... you get what you want and you know why you're there. (Probably not a salad) keep going, Brothertons! You make everything better when I'm feeling homesick. I think it's the wood paneling inside or the predictability of the broken doorknob to the women's bathroom. (if you try to lock it, you will most likely only be locking yourself in until your family notices you have been gone awhile . Have a good buddy watch the door for you) Tbh I've never seen the doorknob NOT "out of order"... now it's part of the charm of the joint... yep. Now you know. I have been ordering double-decker club sandwiches from Brothertons for decades because my father took me there and his father took him there. I like the turkey club double-decker with plain grippos potato chips (portion lasts me two meals) Recently tried their chicken and waffles, and it was actually pretty delicious. My other go to is a BLT double-decker on Rye add Guetta, fried egg and American cheese. I admit I come here hung over most of the time and it's perfect and I love it but you don't have to be hung over for Bretherton's family restaurant to hit the spot... you could also be really high. Service is always wonderful and consistent. Old school bar/counter near kitchen, tables and booths for seating options. Enter through the front for handicap accessibility.

We have eaten here so many times and had a great experience but today was not it. My husband really…read morewanted the burger of the month which apparently isn't available at brunch despite none of their promotional information specifying that so that was the first disappointment. We decided we didn't want drinks today and normally we do order alcohol, so not sure if we were being ignored more for that reason? We were very unclear who was serving us as two or three people asked if we wanted drinks and then we saw hardly anyone after we said no. Our food took 45 minutes to be served with no updates from a server or apologies for the wait, despite other tables (who came in after us) around us being apologized to and getting food before us. My breakfast poutine was also sub-par today, the egg was forgotten and brought out several minutes later, overcooked and rubbery. Normally we have a great experience here but today just really missed. We would have been more understanding if there were an ounce of communication but if our food had arrived 5 minutes later we would have left before it arrived (we just had waters at that point since we did a lot of drinking for the holiday last night). Will be interested to see if our experience stays consistent in future visits. And I really hope our experience wasn't just because we opted out of bar drinks today.

Came here for their Sunday brunch and it did not disappoint! Brunch doesn't start until 11am on Sunday and we arrived around 1140 and got a table for 2 without any wait! The hostess and our waitress were friendly and attentive. Started with a stacked Bloody Mary which had a slider, bacon, and a chicken wing! The bloody itself was tasty, though I prefer mine to be a little spicier. We got the Hawt Mess and Breakfast Poutine and both were delicious. The over easy egg on the poutine was perfectly cooked and the smashed potatoes in the Hawt Mess were crispy and flavorful. We will absolutely be back to try the rest of the brunch menu!

The hostess was wonderful and our waiter - whose name was either Jack or John; I just couldn't keep that straight - was perfect, answering questions, checking on us several times, engaging in just the right level of friendly conversation. We chose to sit on the bar side and I liked the atmosphere very much. The other side was pretty crowded when we arrived on a weekday around 1 PM. Food came quickly and was fresh and delicious. Soup of the day was a sausage chicken gumbo so I had to try a cup of that. Chunky, hearty and full of homemade flavor. My husband had the single grilled pork chop with vegetable of the day plus mashed potatoes. The chop was big and plenty satisfying. Potatoes were house-mashed, just lumpy enough with bits of red skin and an amazing gravy. He was very impressed that the veggies, including the carrots, were cooked so nice and tender. I had the Avocado Chicken Club which was perfection. I took the cilantro mayo on the side so I could apply it at leisure, and I also enjoyed dipping my parmesan fries in it. This was also an ultra-satisfying portion, in fact I decided to polish off the fries and took about half the sandwich home which was super delicious that evening. The roll was so soft and fresh - everything was super fresh. Although we were beyond full, the homemade dessert menu was impossible to resist so we took home a piece of bread pudding, which was, unsurprisingly, excellent. Convenient parking lot in the rear, just note there's no rear entrance so it is a bit of a stroll to get to the front door. BaCall's is quite a ways from my home, boo hoo, but we try to get out and about a lot so if I'm anywhere in the vicinity be sure I'll stop again. Winner!
