Ordered the vegetarian wrap to go when I got it in the car the lettuce was wet the tomato was wet and had previously been frozen so it turned to a mush I quickly returned it for 995 I want fresh vegetables. There was hardly anything in it as well. I do not recommend the soup because they looked old and congested and was not steaming. read more

We were trying to go to Arnold's for their Matzo Ramen, but it wasn't open (not sure why). Anyway, we were starving and we had parked right out in front of Silverglades. I'm so glad that the stars aligned and we ended up trying it. They offer quite a bit of options, especially for those wary of in-door dining. They have box lunches to go. And, with the space being so large, it wasn't hard to go up to the counter and order while remaining 6-ft apart from other customers. My SO and I had the premium salads with 5 add-ons. They were both delicious. I can't comment on the deli or hot meals, but as everyone in there seemed pleased and like regulars. They also are having a deal for Holiday/Christmas meals. read more

It can be a little confusing when you go in because you order your food in different areas, so just look at the signs. But if you want pizza, sandwiches, wraps, salads, home cooked type food, smoothies, soup, bagels, some desserts...they've got it! You can also buy bottles of wine, eggs and other things in their "grocery" section and their prices aren't too bad. I went in for a lunch meeting. I got there before the large crowd and had an opportunity to explore the various menu items. There are a few different areas when you go inside. One for meals and sandwiches, one for soups and salads and another for smoothies. I decided on the taco salad with chicken. I didn't get the black beans in it. Tried the southwest ranch dressing. The salad was good. Shredded lettuce, chicken, cheese, jalapeños and the dressing along with chips. I did enjoy and it was a good portion size. I was able to take half and eat later. Silverglades on 8th is yet another downtown lunch option to which I'd been oblivious for too long, probably because it's tucked over in a section of downtown that doesn't have a large concentration of storefronts. But it's a pretty good one. Silverglades, an offshoot of the Findlay Market standby, falls into a category that a number of delis around here seem to occupy: It probably won't do any one thing that will set your world on fire, but they seem to do a wide-ranging sandwich menu consistently and decently. Some of the ingredients seem a little off, like the mediocre grocery-store salsa on the "Louisiana Lightning" sandwich (which incidentally doesn't remind me remotely of Louisiana, where I lived for years). As others note, there is also a small selection of hot diner-style lunch fare. Counter service can be of the chaotic, big-city variety that only the insiders seem to get. As a first-timer, I walked up to the display counter, observed that a cluster of people were standing in no particular order, and just hoped the situation would resolve itself. Luckily, it did. If it's not crowded, on the other hand, you might have trouble getting anybody's attention behind the counter. Once you do, though, everybody's friendly. The attractive, high-ceilinged dining area is a nice place to chow down. I was surprised to learn that they've been here only seven or eight years, because this location has the broken-in feel of a neighborhood institution. This is the most solid lunch spot in the entire city. They can satisfy any craving. That is saying a lot! You want fresh baked brownies at 4:00? Done. To the far left is a "bakery bar" where you can find bagels, cakes, cookies, muffins, coffee etc. In the center is a "salad station" where you can get either a signature salad or make your own completely from scratch (which is the way I like it). Now for the best part, straight in or to the far right is a deli counter, but it is more than that. This counter like I said has anything and everything in it. You can choose from pre-made wraps, sammis, or again make your own from scratch. Another plus is that if you are running late, you know you can always stop here and get a healthy, home made lunch to fuel you for the rest of that crazy day! I really like Silverglades for lunch. Depending on what you order, it can be good or it can be great. I've ordered all sandwiches thus far: Parma Caprese - excellent. The combo of prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil and tomato is as refreshing as it sounds. The Kelly Deli - very disappointing. The components were good but $9 for the sandwich I got was just a joke. They really skimped on this one and I will not be getting it again. The New Yorker - now this is more like it. This is what I was hoping for with the Kelly Deli but failed to get. Loaded with Boars Head corned beef, it's grilled up so it's nice and warm and ready to devour. Highly recommend! I've been to silverglades more times than I like to share. I love this place. Good atmosphere, friendly employees and great deli food. All the food is great. Lines can get long during lunch rush. Go to the left for salads, soup and pizza. And to the right for hot lunches and sandwich orders. My favorites are the BLT on a spinach wrap Which is a serious BLT. Get it if you like bacon. The Gracie green (ham is fantastic!), blackened turkey sandwich and of course the renaissance. The best chicken salad sandwich ever. All the soup is really good, you can tell it's made and not a bag cut open and warmed. You see the same faces working there which I enjoy. read more

I think I like this place more than I don't. Maybe 3 1/2 stars would be a better rating. I certainly found my salad (pick 5 w/no protein) and sandwich (The turkey one with Lightening in the name) perfectly tasty and fresh. I was unaware that I needed to place my sandwich order at the deli counter and then proceed to the register. Instead, I ordered and waited only a few minutes before I put two and two together and saw the sign above the deli counter saying "Order Here". Anyways, one thing that kinda bothered me is that they use Styrofoam cups. Oh well. Service was fast. There was a steady stream of business men that came in and out while I sat there. The owner Craig is racist and he took two people orders in front of me that were Caucasian then when it came to me placing an order he walked away and came back 2 mins later. When he came back he just stared at me and didn't ask what I wanted like I didn't belong. Hey Sorry Silverglade and Sons, but I'm going to have to demote you one star for your customer service. There are only two people who work here (two women, both blondes, one with long hair and the other with short hair) who I have had continuously pleasant exchanges with. Even in the throes of their busiest, craziest lunch hours, these two ladies manage to keep smiles on their faces and treat everyone (no matter how rude) with respect. The other staff, not so much. When I politely inquired about the soup situation, I was literally growled at by the man behind the register. Another time a staff rolled eyes at me when I asked if I could order at the espresso bar -- and it was in the morning AND I WAS THE ONLY CUSTOMER! I get that it can get busy, I get that people can be annoying - but maybe you shouldn't be in the food service industry if you can't handle that because half of how I base my experience at any restaurant is about how I'm treated. Props to the two women, though. They are the saving grace of this places customer service and the reason I will continue to come back, keeping my fingers crossed each time that I don't have to interact with any other staff aside from them. read more

I've now been here twice and have been impressed both times. Working downtown, it is important to be able to eat quickly, efficiently, and reasonably, and Silverglades satisfies all of the above -- albeit on the higher end of "reasonably," if I'm being honest. You order at the counter and they call your name when it's ready. Both times I've had paninis -- the first time a BBQ panini that was decent, and the second time I "built my own" turkey and bacon panini, which was pretty good. They also have wraps, a number of gourmet sandwiches, breakfast, soups, desserts (think baked goods and ice cream), and salads that are made and tossed to order. For a sandwich, chips, and drink, it comes to about $10, which isn't necessarily "cheap," but you could easily forego a pop and it cost considerably less. Service has always been quick and friendly and I would recommend Silverglades to any and everyone downtown. They also have a location in Findlay Market, should you find yourself near the Market during breakfast or lunch. read more
