This was my first visit in a year... we tried the hot chicken before and it was super delish. This time we went for the fried fish. We placed an order over the phone with a 15 min-wait but got there and it was another 15-min wait.... Not so bad but our order was incorrect. They quickly made it right AND offered us free cake. The cake was good too - it was banana pudding cake!! The fish was very very very good - crispy, hot and just perfect. My first time trying this establishment. I was reluctant first as the reviews seemed to be hit or miss. I ordered the 2pc Catfish Basket replacing the Fries for Collard Greens. My son ordered Hot Chick Sandwich. My catfish was fried hard but small. It was full of flavor, however too small to enjoy. For $13 I wanted a little more to avoid being hungry again in a couple hours. Greens were delicious, I enjoyed those more. I didn't try the Chicken Sandwich but my son said, Popeyes was better. He said it was bland and lacked flavor. We both enjoyed that expensive 12oz Kool-Aid. Any flavor is delicious. I know this because I went back the following day to order 3 more . They are $3.25+tax each. You'll go broke from wanting to order more. They need to sell the kool-aid in gallons, I'd purchase. Walked in just in time! We beat the afternoon rush! Instead of a 50 minute wait, ours was 20. The catfish is so good! It's crispy and seasoned just right. The medium level gave just the right amount of heat while maintaining the flavor. I will try the triple heat next time. read more

It took about 20 minutes to get my order and they didn't seem too busy. The chicken itself without the breading lacked seasoning and wasn't as spicy as I expected. I love a good chicken sandwich so I decided on a The Spicy Chick with Double OG spice and a side of fries. I went when they first opened so wait time was about 10-15 minutes. I've heard that the chicken sandwich was big but I didn't believe it until I saw it with my own eyes--and pictures don't do it justice. A combination of the chicken breading, pickles and coleslaw gives the sandwich a good crunch with each bite and the spice level of the seasoning is the kind that makes your lips tingle (but not uncomfortably or too spicy). I'm not a fan of coleslaw in general but I didn't mind it on this sandwich. Depending on your appetite, you might be able to get full off half of it. (I ordered a 3 piece whole wing basket and a 3 piece chicken tender basket) I use to eat at this place when they were located in Cedar Hill off 67 and it was still a long wait back then and they had a much larger menu back then. Stumbled upon this hidden gem today! I ordered the sandwich (1 OG...I always opt for mild spice the first time trying a spicy dish so I can get an idea of the flavors used...next time I'll try the 2OG) for pickup. It was amazing! The flavors, the breading, the freshness, the bun...all incredible. And this sandwich is huge! I could only eat half of it. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the quality of the chicken breast used. It was super moist and full of flavor, but the meat was a little tough which just means the breast from the supplier might not be high quality. Was really hoping to like this place due to all the positive reviews but it's was a giant let down. 1. They're supposed to be open at 11am according to their website but when we arrived the only person there was the prep-per who informed us that the cooks weren't even there yet. We had somewhere to be by 11:40 but didn't mind waiting a couple of minutes. Yeah 20 minutes of waiting and they never came. Not even the oil was hot. What's the point of saying your establishment opens at 11 if you aren't even going to be ready to serve food until roughly 12? The hours on yelp say 11:30 but on maps, google, and their establishment it's 11. 2. The food takes forever. I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries and it took half an hour and there was only 3 people who ordered before I walked in. I'd say they made each order every 10 minutes. I would equate this issue of time to being that they don't have enough ingredients prepped in the morning. Also numerous staff walking to the back like a clown bus but no speed improvement. They were bringing in ingredients like chicken and bread indicating that they ran out even though the place has only been open for 2 hours. Was quantity of ingredients not checked the night before? Was it not checked in the morning by the prep-per? Was there no calculation on the amount of ingredients needed based on daily revenue and statistic of each corresponding day? It's beyond me. 3. Food is basic. After reading the reviews it appeared they were most acknowledged for their chicken sandwich so being my first time, I went for the best. I got triple og heat which was a triple disappointment. Supposedly is supposed to be the hottest option of chicken using ghost pepper seasoning. Yeah, it was a ghost alright because it was practically non existent at all along with any flavor from the sandwich or fries. The only sweat I dropped was from my eyeballs in dissatisfaction. This. Was. So. Good. We ordered the tenders basket, a wing basket, and 2 sandwiches. Everything was good..... But those sandwiches....GEEEEEZUZ I am in love. Both were mild (OG Hot), one with slaw, and one without. I recommend getting it with slaw because it adds a bit of sweet to cut the heat.
