Alex (owner) is one of the nicest, most down to earth guys ever. When I shredded a front rim, he took the time not just to build me a new wheel but to actually help me lace and build it myself. It took longer than if he had done it, but the experience was so worth it and I now love building wheels. The bike selection is not enormous, but the prices for used bikes are good and if you are willing to visit often enough you will eventually find what you are looking for. This place is the shit. Its rustic, chill, and most of all - the owner Alex is super helpful. I had no (still have little) idea how to build a bike, and this guy offered to help me out and set me up with the parts I didn't have. I'm not into expensive racing or pretentious attitudes when it comes to cycling, and this spot worked out well. Lots of parts, frames, and expertise to help get you on your way. I went to this bike shop not just for bike parts, but to help out small, local businesses. That being said, I was ignored and when someone finally helped me, they seemed like I was keeping them from doing something else. After finally helping me with the parts they wanted about four times the amount for the parts that I could have gotten off amazon. I left empty handed and headed over to velo cycles. They made me feel like my business was appreciated, helpful and had the right parts in stock. Sure you pay a little extra, but you get a human to help you. I will never walk into 20/20 again. I really like this shop. They try and find old bikes and restore them to useful service and sell them to people. Staff is more than friendly and helpful, and will try and get the right bike for you if they can. They also have a lot of single speed & fixed gear/track parts that a lot of larger shops don't even carry. This is what a neighborhood bike shop should be. only drawback really is that it's small so selection is limited, but again I've been able to find things here that other places in town don't have. read more

Here comes yet another shining review of 20/20, and they earned it. I've been in twice since last week; once to get a tune up on my cherished commuter, and once to purchase a new lock. Without boring you too much, these guys did three things that will keep me coming back. 1. They did exactly what they promised to do, in the time they promised to do it. 2. They were completely honest and thoughtful in their recommendations and advice. 3. They made me feel completely welcome. What an amazing Bike Shop. Sure, they play GREAT music, are super friendly, and know their bikes backwards and forwards, but there aren't many other places in Seattle where you can walk in and have your bike fixed while you wait. They are also super cheap. I honestly don't know how they stay in business, I sure hope they do. You can always go to a giant bike shop and leave your bike there for 3 days while they do sub-par work. But why bother when you can roll into 2020 and relax on the couch while your bike is repaired right in front of you. 2020 is my favorite bike shop in seattle, hands down. Alex, the owner, is an amazing human being and really one of the most helpful bike store owners in Seattle. They don't provide the same sort of service you get at a larger shop in Seattle but ultimately they aim for a different area of the bike spectrum. I mean how many bike shops do you know of that actually double as a music venue for small bands? All of the workers are super nice people and I really like how they give you genuine answers on questions where other shops would say you need this or that brand new....2020 is always honest. 2020 doesn't carry a significant amount of products but they definitley cover all the basics and usually carry better quailty stuff then most bike shops so when you buy things there you know they will last. They just got a little bit of a makeover recently so if you haven't been by in awhile you should totally check out their new layout! read more

Solid bike shop, conveniently located. They also sell cute vintage bikes at reasonable prices. in addition, they carry used pieces, such as helmets, too! The staff is friendly and not pretentious, and they work hard to make sure that you are satisfied with their service. They also buy used bikes-- as long as the bike is made of steel frames. They charged me $5 more than what they originally quoted, which is OK. I would be happy to come back to this shop, but as other people say, if your bike is made of aluminum or newer, sporty-type bike, might be better to go to another shop. read more

My attempt to repair the front derailleur on my road bike didn't go well. I got the new one on the bike, but it was not shifting. 2020 cycle was down the street so I rolled it over there. The friendly guy working on an another bike listened to my sad story, took the bike he was working on off the stand, and fixed my bike. All in a matter of 15 minutes. Don't go anywhere else! I've been coming here since they opened 10 years ago, but had a baby two years ago and haven't been on my bike since. Took it in for a tune-up today--the shop is so busy with tuneups in the nice weather, I would have had to come back. I have a century ride coming up in four weeks and kind of need it NOW (yeah, I know--I should have been training sooner, but like I said...BABY). I was literally stuck in place, not knowing if I should go someplace else and chance a long wait everywhere in town. Stuck stuck stuck. These guys are so kind, one saw me unable to make a decision and said he'd take a look and see if the bike needed a ton of work. Turns out I just needed brake pads and he offered to swap them out for me right then and there. Checked everything else for me too, all good. He got me up and riding within 20 minutes, and now I can train over the next month for my ride! Hooked me up with a helmet, lights, and lock, too. I rode home with the biggest damn smile on my face, it felt so good to be back riding. This shop, so timely, so nice, I'm happy to spend my money there to support. THANK YOU 20/20 CYCLE! Everyone who works in this shop is amazingly talented at what they do and care deeply about bikes and the customer experience. I have been super impressed by the amount of time they will spend with the customer. They often are busy on the weekend and you may have to wait a bit for help but they care. Especially like that Scott will twine your handle bar tape! Love this place. We are lucky to have such a great shop near Capitol Hill. I use them mostly for servicing my bike and can't speak to purchasing a bike. read more

There are a lot of good bike shops in Seattle but I have had the most positive experiences and the best service at 20/20 Cycle. They have been able to quickly fix things that have been plaguing me for years (brake issues, mysterious rattling, repeated flats, etc). They always have extraordinarily reasonable rates for little repairs and weird parts. I sometimes wish they had a tip jar or some way to give them a little extra for their great work. Even unexpected bonuses set them apart like $3 (or is it $2?) for those little tiny CR2023 watch batteries that go in my bike lights and what seems like half of the other portable electronics I own. Drug stores, gas stations and electronic stores have them for, on average, 4X more. The employees are generally super friendly and are usually making goofy jokes to each other and / or listening to some cool / weird music that provides entertainment even when you're just standing around waiting. I recommend 20/20 Cycle to people even if it's not the nearest shop to them. These folks just know what they're doing and they certainly aren't trying to make a racket out of the bike biz. read more

This was the best bike-repair experience I've had in Seattle. Used to ride a lot, went on my first ride in about 1.5 yr. My road bike (an aluminum 2003 Specialized S-works) was in terrible condition. It had a creaky headset and bottom bracket, and the rear wheel was WAY out of true (it was super bad because I busted a spoke on my first ride out). I dropped my bike off in terrible condition and for ~$50 bucks got a complete tune up. The rear wheel is back to true, the bottom bracket, heatset, and components were all lubed and running like new. The cables were cleaned and adjusted. While most places would probably try to upsell me on a new rear wheel, I was glad to see these guys rose to the challenge and made it like new. Stopping by 20/20 cycle for a tune up made my cycling experience 10 times better. They did quality work at a price that beats anywhere else I've gone. I highly recommend it. read more

Came here with a vintage bike I bought not long ago and was very pleased with the service. The staff was friendly and and easy to talk to; I'm just getting into biking and definitely don't know a whole lot, but they were patient and helpful with all my questions. I came in looking to upgrade my pedals and also get some straps, and although they didn't have exactly what I was looking for they were able to place an order and had it in there in 2 days. They also switched my handlebars and brake cables for a decent price.......but when I went in to pick up my bike and asked if they could also put in some new brake pads I bought from them previously, the guy tried to add on an extra $15 for "labor", which was disappointing. I understand labor charges, but it's a super quick job and my bike was still on the rack. I was hoping that they would just go ahead and throw em on there out of good will, but oh well. I ended up borrowing the tool I needed from a friend and switched the pads in a few minutes, keeping the $15 of labor for myself. Still, this is a great spot and I'm happy with my visit. They also have a bunch of cool accessories and a pretty nice used parts bin. I even got to sip on some tea while I waited for my new pedals to be put on. Not bad. read more

They have a great selection of brooks saddles, tons of used and new free wheels etc and a real appreciate for the old school bikes. Very friendly staff and great location. It feels weird to write a review for this place, as I've been going here for years. 20/20 is comfortable in the way that I don't think twice about wearing my slippers on the walk up the street. Alex knows how to pick his staff. Whether they've been here for ages, like Ben or Colin, or are brand new (sorry, I forgot your name, tall guy), they are all knowledgeable and friendly, with creative solutions to whatever nitpicky problems you walk in with. The used parts bins are small and you have to get your hands greasy to find the gems, but they're in there. I tend to know what I am looking for, but I've seen Alex dig around on behalf of customers who don't, trying to find that perfect used something-or-other that he saw come in a few weeks ago. New parts are fairly affordable if they're in stock and commonplace. That means a new cassette, a new brake, a new chain will all be priced the same as larger shinier stores. Niche items like chain tensioners or special order items that they have to call in are generally more than a little higher than at a larger store. They've cut me enough deals and treated me with such respect that it's worth the extra $10 every time I need such a part. They share a bathroom with a radio station and host all-ages concerts here. I brought my bike in for tune up in June, and the bike rode great as a daily commuter for 3 months. And when my brakes started to wear and began squealing a bit, they adjusted them no charge! The staff is friendly, definitely knows their stuff, and the music's always good.
