    Beignet Fries
    Sandra K.

Decided to go here when we had to travel to Westbank. Nice location on the river. When it's cool out, I'd love to sit on the rooftop and view the river. Our server was friendly, helpful and attentive. We went with the Club sandwich and I had to try the Beignet fries. During weekend brunch, they offer $5 Bloody Mary's and Mimosa carafes for $19 which I do find high. The beignet fries were delicious and hot. The club sandwich was great with plenty of fries; however we were disappointed with the deli meat which was the basic round deli meat. The bacon though was fried to crisp perfection. I order the Bayou Punch which was great but very sweet. I loved that their cocktails were $8. A rarity these days. I would go back and try some different menu items. They do have live music on weekends as well.

Upon entering we were immediately seated with reservations that were previously made. The one thing that really caught me off guard was prior to walking into the restaurant there's a pair of steps that lead to where you are within a foot touch of the Mississippi River! We have seating outdoors and nice with the fans to keep you cool. A lot of history here! The drinks good gracious order the moonshine mule phew delicious! Food was served hot and presented well! Great place! Locals are very welcoming!

Spicy chicken sandwich and fried pickles

Haven't been here in a while, but went last night. The food is still great and the atmosphere is still amazing. They have changed the menu a little since the last time I was there, but the staples are still there (if you haven't tried the Shank You burger you're really missing out), plus some new things. I love their fried pickles! I decided to try something from the new offerings, so I went with the spicy chicken sandwich. It was delicious. If you have read any of my other reviews, you know I like spicy food. This was a good spice level, just enough to let you know if was there but not so hot you start to sweat (I would have liked to have much hotter, but that's just personal preference). Also, the sandwich is made with chicken tenders. They were great, but they did make the sandwich fall apart. I also could have used more sauce, but that would have made it fall apart even more, and no one needs that. I could also have asked for extra sauce but I finished it before I thought about that! The service was friendly and quick. They have a solid draft beer list, and overall it's a very good place. The only thing holding me back from a 5 star review is the live music situation. Whenever I go there I always avoid nights with live music. I love live music, but the acoustics of the place, coupled with the amount of amps the bands bring, make the music painful to listen to and impossible to carry on a conversation. Even when the music is good (and to be honest I've not heard a bad band there), it's just so loud! So go on a day when there's no music, enjoy the food, the beers, and if the weather cooperates, the great view of the river from upstairs!

Love coming here every so often when I crave a burger/hot sausage. They have a smash burger on their menu called the "Shank You" burger, which is a double patty (one regular patty + hot sausage patty). It's the best of both worlds. The fries that came with it was extra crispyyy. Did not have a single fry that was soggy. The service was pretty quick and our server was great. Definitely come here during happy hour. They have delicious special cocktail drinks for only $5 during this time. I ordered the Bayou Balcony Punch and it was delicious. It has coconut rum, pineapple, grenadine & champagne. I love that they have an upstairs outside area, very nice to eat up there during great weather. Unfortunately we couldn't eat up there due to them having no service available. But they said if we wanted to eat up there, we would have to order to go and just bring it up.

VERY slow and disorganized service during lunch with no hostess so people just seated themselves but then some never got service (I saw a police officer arrive and take a seat for a long while and no staff acknowledged him so he finally got up and left looking pretty unhappy). My food order took at least 45 minutes or longer to get out which is a really long time for the type of food served here. Unfortunately the food itself really wasn't that great and it gets a 1.5 star for the tuna and burger (especially at the price point) as it really didn't deliver compared to most other places in the area. I have always had good food at the Rivershack Tavern on River Road so I'm not sure what is going on here? Granted it was really crowded here for just a Friday lunch and there were a lot of rowdy folks at the bar so maybe that was knocking the pace of service off? The redeeming factors that raise the star rating up here are that this is a really cool bar that has some great features. They have a nice outdoor patio with another rooftop deck patio on top of it with some great views. I also have been a long time fan of the original Rivershack Tavern on River Road so I can't imagine the current state of unacceptable food will last long here as it has always been good at the original. They also follow the original by having a nice schedule of live music. Overall I was really disappointed in the food but impressed by the layout of the bar and the daily specials and happy hour that are offered. I really hope they get better organized and get their food and service back on track. This spot has a huge potential to be one of the great bars of the area and I hope they get things running consistently soon. I definitely will return and hope for an improved experience next time. My video review is here and this video starts out with a review of the original Rivershack Tavern on the Eastbank and finishes with a review of the Gretna location of the River Shack Tavern on the Westbank. https://youtu.be/ODC-sJvWYLc

I truly like coming here. Lotta different things on the menu to choose from. Very friendly bartenders in a very relaxed dining area. Lots of sports games on the TV. The upstairs has a picture perfect view of the Mississippi.

Love these sweet potato fries. They are nice and crispy on the outside. The Huey P Tea was refreshing and I couldn't taste the alcohol, but definitely loved the peach flavor. Outdoor seating is really nice.

Thursday Night $10 Steak Night 16oz steak

Looking for a cool bar experience with an amazing food experience? Well, look no further! I discovered Rivershack Gretna by way of a friend because their ever-so popular Thursday Night $10 Steak Night: 16oz Ribeye with a side of loaded potatoes. You can sub out the potatoes for other side choices for a $2 surcharge however trust me, the steak is soooooooooooo massive you won't have time to focus on eating a side. I have gone past couple of Thursday and they have remained very consistent in timeliness from the time of placing food order to actually having food delivered to me. The time time has been between 13-15 minutes each time. The steak are seasoned and flavored perfectly. Watch out Ruth's Chris! They have plenty of space and plenty of table of tables and a HUGE bar. I suggest that you go straight in and grab a seat at the bar instead of getting a table with the hostess cause there will always be a wait for a table. Always avaliable seating at the bar. I always look forward to going here due to staff always been soooooo down to earth and love connecting with the customers to make sure they are having a great dining experience

    Garbage Fries

This place is a very unique splotch. They have outdoor upstairs seating as well as downstairs and indoor seating. They have quite a few choices of beer on tap which I'm a huge fan of. Went ahead and got the garbage fries which is just loaded down with everything including jalapeños and mushrooms. My brother had a Reuben and he said it was really good. My fries didn't blow me away but it was good. The service was fast and friendly but we were there right when they opened so weren't busy. I paid $42 for my fries (small appetizer), the Rueben meal and 3 beer. Pretty good prices as I was expecting a bit more than that. I'd go back for sure, it's a really cool spot

The mutha clucka with a biscuit a la carte. Very good!

My life has been changed in so many positive ways over the last 12 years, and it all started with Coquette. My first meal out, on my first day of work right after Labor Day was at Coquette for lunch with my ex-boyfriend's law school friend. I don't remember the person's name, and don't think I actually saw him again after that lunch, but I remember the feeling of that fancy, yet understated meal as a warm welcome to the city I now call home. I've gotten incredible fantasy football tips from the bartenders over brunch at the. I've celebrated birthdays and promotions and making in to Thursday with dinners and wine. No matter why I have ended up at Coquette over the years, and with who, it's always ended up being a special experience that is just hard to put into words. Of course when I heard we were nearing the end I immediately made a dinner reservation, and brought my partner, who somehow had never been. We sat at the bar, and ended up running into one of my close friends also getting one last meal at this special spot. We ate like kings and laughed and marveled at how unique this place is, even in a city full of award-winning chefs and beautifully curated restaurants. I'm so sad that this era has come to an end, but so grateful to have had so many great experiences here and that those who brought us this place are embarking on new culinary adventures in the city! So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Comfortable but classy atmosphere, with football on the TV in the dining room. (Welcome to Louisiana!) Owner took our drink and food orders (we were ready! - we had already previewed the menu on Yelp) and everything was delivered quickly. Husband had the Smokey Mountain Burger ($16), medium, with fries. The fries were crispy and the burger was so good! I'm not a big burger fan, but it was cooked just right and had plenty of flavor. I opted for the Thai riblets app ($14) which was served with a small side of their slaw and the "fried" Brussel sprouts app ($10). O...M...G! The sprouts came with a side dressing of mayo/lemon/garlic (?), of which I was not a fan; eat them plain - you'll be glad you did. Slaw was great - not too much mayonnaise - but I scraped off the seasoning topping because it was too salty for me. Thai riblets were fall-off-the-bone good without being over seasoned/sauced. The Bower takes such time & it's very apparent they care to smother it with plenty of porky and beefy goodness. Amazing entree‼ Lastly, our dessert was a Dark Chocolate-type tort. Not sure if it's "flourless," so I don't want to say that in case you're on a flourless diet. But, if you can, it's fantastic. Thankfully... Not too sweet at all. It's perfect, and I'm not even a typical chocolate person. Pls geaux...youll be very satiated!!!
