Very disappointing Mother's Day brunch experience. This rooftop brunch has really declined over the years. The advertising is misleading -- it promotes a "Mimosa Bar and Coffee Bar," which makes it sound like both are unlimited. In reality, the coffee is unlimited, but you only get TWO mimosas per person. The past two years included unlimited mimosas, which was honestly the only thing that made the overpriced buffet feel somewhat worth it. The buffet itself is average at best, and the omelette station is painfully slow. By the time you finally get your omelette and make it back to the table, the rest of your food is ice cold. For the amount they charge, the experience and value just are not there anymore. Eggs Benedict only comes with pork option, Pasta and potatoes - tasteless, low lighting so you can't even see the food, buffet servers sometimes handing you the tongs to do it yourself, or sometimes you're waiting for them to serve you. I think they are as confused as the patrons are on what to do! Such a disappointment, especially for Mother's Day. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. And judging by the crowd this year compared to last year and before, other patrons are catching on too. Being deceptive is never a good look. read more

A good spot overall. Drinks are solid and priced pretty reasonably for NYC, around $15-20, nothing shocking. Service holds up well considering how busy it gets on weekends. If you're visiting NYC, this is a great spot to check out to relax--the views of the Empire State Building and the city overall are genuinely beautiful. Worth seeing at least once, though not a place I'd return to regularly. One thing to note: They host events throughout the year, some ticketed, so it's worth checking their website before you go. Cool vibes. Not much seating or seats available. Most tables do not even have seats, you are literally just standing. Very nice view, for sure, but, food was mediocre and there was no service. You get your food and drinks from a window and no employees are seen beyond that. Steak lacked flavor and they had no sauces besides ketchup.... Not cool. Don't do it. Don't come here - and definitely don't bring a group. I came here for a brunch and the food was at best mediocre. I tried to give it a second shot with setting up an evening reservation with a group. To my shock, the lack of professionalism of the staff is just unmatched. First they tell us what the pricing is for our group, then they come back saying we might not all sit together. Then, after the fact, they say they'll do their best - why on earth would I make a reservation for a group when we can't sit together (even though we were initially told, like a normal place would, that we would be together). this review is only for our 12/25/25 experience: Website and calling lacked the info that we needed. We were just told its reservation or walk-in for buffet on christmas day but that walkins are encouraged. Website and IG states theyre open from 12nn and when we got there there was no one by the entrance at the rooftop; found a staff and was told we can sit anywhere. Great! we picked the igloo since we were a party of four that arrived 12nn. When we went to place our order we were told the kitchen only opens at 4pm so there really is no food menu. Luckily there was cheese pizza, cocktails and smores hot coco and so we got those instead. Despite that lack of info regarding the menu we still enjoyed our time there coz of their beautiful view and decor and just ended up taking a bunch of pics. I came here with some friends (party of 7) as we had a reservation inside an igloo. The evening we came was perfect weather so we got to see a good sunset. The drinks were good so I would definitely come back just for drinks. The food was average, nothing to write home about. The decor and size of the place was great. Great place to take out of towners to. No cover charge, just time it to go during off peak to avoid the lines. We came on a cold fall day so there was no line to deal with. It was however cold but was thankful for the heaters they had on. There were also blankets you can put on for extra warmth. Cocktails are ok at less than $20 each. Located in the Flatiron district, this massive rooftop bar offers a stunning and closeup view of the NYC skyline as well as an unobstructed view of the top of the Empire State Building. Came here with a group of coworkers for an after work happy hour. Although both indoor and outdoor seating is provided, we opted for outdoors as it was such a beautiful day. There is not much shade when sitting outdoors, so I can imagine it can get pretty brutal here during the peak of summer. Although we came at a pretty good time and were able to snag a table, this place filled up really fast. I've been to 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar a couple of times, and it's always a great experience! Most recently, I visited around Halloween with friends visiting from Vancouver. They only take walk-ins, but the rooftop is huge, so getting a table usually isn't a problem. The Halloween décor was festive, especially the arch setup -- perfect for photos. We ordered cocktails (vodka with ginger beer), which were okay, and some pizza slices that were decent. The real highlight here is definitely the incredible city view and lively atmosphere. During colder days, they provide red hooded robes to keep you warm, and there are heaters near each table, making it super cozy even in winter. Not sure how often the robes are cleaned, but if you don't mind that small detail, it's a fun and unique touch. Overall, a must-visit spot for the views, vibes, and that classic NYC rooftop experience. read more

It was a lovely evening in New York, and I was so happy to meet with my friend. We decided to go to a rooftop bar, and it was actually my first time ever being on a rooftop in general. This one required walk-in payment. So be ready for that. It was pretty crowded but we were lucky to find one space to sit and order drinks and a plate of nachos. They were delicious! Crunchy, topped with all the usual goodies, and served in a big portion. We enjoyed them a lot. As for drinks, the first one we ordered felt like it barely had any alcohol, which was frustrating because it wasn't cheap. We switched to whiskey and cola. Even then, the first round was still weak. On our third try, my friend kindly asked them not to water it down, and this time they got it right! The drink finally tasted the way it should. After that, we headed to the dance floor, and it was so much fun. We danced until around 2 a.m. The atmosphere was great: fun, energetic, and safe. I especially appreciated the presence of guards, which made me feel protected. When people are drinking and dancing, things can sometimes get uncomfortable, but here I felt secure. We loved the music, the energy, and the view. The view was so beautiful. I'd come back to this rooftop again if I'm in NYC. read more

Came here with a large group of nine on a bustling Thursday evening without a reservation. The non-reserved tables here seem to be on a first-come first-serve basis. We were able to find space after about a 20-minute wait after we ordered our drinks. We lucked out with two tables right next to each other, which worked out perfectly. I got the Peach Lemonade which was strong, fresh, and well-made, and of course the rooftop views are unbeatable. The main downside was the limited standing room while waiting for a table to open up. They had awesome, well-decorated igloos with heaters and speakers within. There was no additional charge at least on the day we came to go to the top. It can be challenging to hear, but it's a fun time with a great view. The drinks are pricey, which makes sense for the location. I went here with friends for the Knicks watch party. This photographer took photos of my friends and I, and we knew it'd be ridiculously overpriced. This guy tried charging us over 25 dollars for a one 4x6" photo in a shitty plastic flimsy frame. We agreed to have him send us all of the photos digitally with the framed photo for that price and of course we never received the email. Have contacted them several times and haven't received a response. Don't go here. They're scammers, rude employees and provide poor service. One of my friends forgot the framed photo too of us inside so I tried to get back in to grab it quick as we were leaving and they made us wait an hour to get back in just for the custodian to say he threw it out. They did nothing to reimburse or make it right. What a joke of an establishment. read more

They are so so overpriced, and you're basically your own server? You're better off going to a little food stand. The steak was over cooked and was mostly fat for $38. And the burger was terrible! Even the pickles were bad, and there's no way to get a bad pickle. The fries too, they tasted like they've been sitting in a heat lamp for HOURS. While walking around the city and needing to kill some time before going to a concert at Madison Square Garden, I found myself near 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar. It was a warm New York City afternoon and I decided to check it out. Just note that the entrance is off of Broadway, not Fifth. This is a first-come, first-serve kind of place, which I appreciated. After riding the elevator to the rooftop, you climb an additional set of stairs until you are out in the open. It was pretty crowded when I arrived, but I managed to grab a hightop table. Like others have commented there is not a ton of shade, so if you happen to be up there on a warm sunny afternoon, it can get quite toasty. I decided to start with a mocktail because I was not sure if I wanted to drink or not. I ordered a rendition of a raspberry Mojito, minus the alcohol. It was $12 and actually quite tasty and refreshing. After people watching for a bit, I finally decided that I could not take the heat any longer and decided to order one of their Frozé. It came in a plastic pouch with a plastic rubber ducky. It was $16 and helped to cut the heat. They do serve food, but I did not partake. All in all, a fun rooftop bar in New York City that serves up decent cocktails, and cocktails at to-be-expected prices. read more

If you do snag a reservation, be ready to drop $50 --technically applied toward your tab, but tied to a very limited prix fixe menu. Choices? Steak or salmon. I tried both across two visits, and to be blunt, neither impressed. The dishes lacked that "wow" factor--seasoning was flat, presentation underwhelming, and overall, it felt like an afterthought rather than a highlight. Now, on the upside: the drinks are solid. Creative, well-balanced, and surprisingly reasonably priced. But please--can we talk about the plastic rubber duckies floating in the cocktails? Cute for Instagram once, but totally unnecessary and wasteful. It's 2025... we can do better. The rooftop views, though, are absolutely the redeeming feature--clear sightlines to the Empire State Building and a beautiful cityscape backdrop. But unless you've secured a table, good luck finding a spot to settle in and enjoy it. Bottom line: come for the drinks and the view, not the food.
