$25 for a burger and fries is wild but that's New York for you anyways Happy hour drinks 2-5pm weekdays Price aside, this rooftop is very pretty! I went to watch the World Cup and they had 3 TV's outside playing it with sound. Tons of seating and very aesthetic area. It seemed like they didn't have enough people working Friday evening because service was slow (but there were a LOT of people on the roof) They have one corner set aside for private parties and I would totally consider renting it

Beautiful roof top right in-front of the Empire State Building. We came for the Fourth of July event and the tickets were honestly not bad what was not included were any drinks but that's a given anywhere in New York haha. Staff were friendly and we ended up getting a reserved table that had a minimum of $400 so that split into a group isn't bad at all. Lovely views and places to take pictures. Highly recommend for any event or just to hang out too!

What a fun rooftop bar! Love bringing friends and family here for a good time. Great views and awesome drinks. Love the little pool floaties and mini ducks they serve with the cocktails. Always a great time at 230 fifth rooftop bar.

This was my 2nd time visiting and I had good experiences both times. There was no wait to get inside and once at the rooftop, no wait for a drink. The bar offers fun cocktails and regular drinks. Plenty of seating available, tvs, and a great view of the city.

I don't think we could've chose a better spot to end the night. I wish I got more content of the inside but I was having too good of a time. There was a cover and a line but it was totally worth it. The drinks were great, the ambiance is sexy, and the dj was rolling. The lounge and the rooftop bar is separate with each having their own vibe, both were lit we really enjoyed ourselves. Maybe a little too much ;) will definitely be back. When in NYC, check this out.

Come here for the view alone. I always like to visit roof top bars where ever I go. I love to see a town or city from a different angle.

A good spot overall. Drinks are solid and priced pretty reasonably for NYC, around $15-20, nothing shocking. Service holds up well considering how busy it gets on weekends. If you're visiting NYC, this is a great spot to check out to relax--the views of the Empire State Building and the city overall are genuinely beautiful. Worth seeing at least once, though not a place I'd return to regularly. One thing to note: They host events throughout the year, some ticketed, so it's worth checking their website before you go. Some events get pretty wild for the party crowd. Also, they do have designated smoking areas on site, something to be aware of before your visit.

    The view

The food was great. Service wasn't the greatest because somehow the order was lost and we waited for more than an hour to get the food after complaining a few times about it. It was during the World Cup so maybe that's why it happened but it was my first time there so I wouldn't know. The ambience was great and we had a good time. The view was amazing. Over all it was great except my food being lost.

Then were told we might not even be together

Don't do it. Don't come here - and definitely don't bring a group. I came here for a brunch and the food was at best mediocre. I tried to give it a second shot with setting up an evening reservation with a group. To my shock, the lack of professionalism of the staff is just unmatched. First they tell us what the pricing is for our group, then they come back saying we might not all sit together. Then, after the fact, they say they'll do their best - why on earth would I make a reservation for a group when we can't sit together (even though we were initially told, like a normal place would, that we would be together). Then they cancel on us. They kept pushing us around where I finally had to request a refund. Not a good vibe.

We went around Christmas and really loved the ambiance! Wonderful cocktails and food! Would definitely go again and recommend !

Cool vibes. Not much seating or seats available. Most tables do not even have seats, you are literally just standing. Very nice view, for sure, but, food was mediocre and there was no service. You get your food and drinks from a window and no employees are seen beyond that. Steak lacked flavor and they had no sauces besides ketchup.... Not cool. So we ate our bland steak and distracted ourselves with the beautiful view. If you stare at the view as you eat, the food seems to taste better. Probably won't be back.

this review is only for our 12/25/25 experience: Website and calling lacked the info that we needed. We were just told its reservation or walk-in for buffet on christmas day but that walkins are encouraged. Website and IG states theyre open from 12nn and when we got there there was no one by the entrance at the rooftop; found a staff and was told we can sit anywhere. Great! we picked the igloo since we were a party of four that arrived 12nn. When we went to place our order we were told the kitchen only opens at 4pm so there really is no food menu. Luckily there was cheese pizza, cocktails and smores hot coco and so we got those instead. Despite that lack of info regarding the menu we still enjoyed our time there coz of their beautiful view and decor and just ended up taking a bunch of pics. Hopefully next time info is so much clearer as we had hoped to have lunch there.

Came here Valentine's night after dinner. Line moved SOOO quickly. It was crowded but we found an igloo seat (shared) immediately. Drinks were good, but nothing beats the view. The Empire State and (not pictured) Chrysler building?! 10/10. If you've never done a rooftop bar in NYC, I highly recommend 230 fifth st- no reservation needed!!

Ask the Community - 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar

Visiting NYC for the first time with a two couples how hard is this to get into on a Friday night is there long lines and cover charges?

Lines can get a little long but it isn't that hard. This is a popular spot because of the rooftop and because it goes past 2am. Many other places have started shutting down at 1am since the pandemic so that leaves this place as one of the few that…

I want to bring my girlfriend here on sunday afternoon, she's under 21 but I am over 21, is she permitted in?

When I went they wouldn't even let someone mom in because she didn't have her ID with her. I'm not sure why the other person said yes, but they check IDs and online make your ensure you're over 21

Is your brunch outside or inside Dec 2022?

They have heated igloos & an inside area

Thinking of coming for Halloween. Do they have heat lamps?

    Yes they do.

Do you guys have a dancing floor?

    Yes they do

I'd like to reserve for around 35 people, is that possible? If not, is it okay to reserve for around 25ish people? Please let me know how the process works and if that many people can be accommodated. It is for a birthday, thank you!!

When I was there, a big area was reserved and they had it blocked off. It appeared to be a graduation party. I'd say it was over 40 people.

What music does this bar typically play?

They had a live DJ when we were there on a Saturday night.

Is there a cover during happy hour or weekdays generally?

    I don't believe

    Are hats allowed?

Yes hats are allowed on weekends we ask no sports wear

Can someone who is 20 go with a group of friend during a late night Saturday? Is vaccinated required? as some of my colleges friends are religious

You have to be 21+ to go on a Saturday night

How much would a reservation be for 6-10 people on a Saturday?

Please check 230-fifth.com/reservations Most of our guests walk in though

Is this place requiring all patrons be vaccinated?

No they didn't when I went like 3 weeks ago.

Why when I try to make a reservation for 4 it only gives me options of $125 per person options? There's no way to just make a reservation and pay for what is ordered?

If you arw doing reservations, it is a requirement. A bit pricey if you ask me. Others take the…

Does the magician still work the front door of 230 Fifth?

We don't have a magician working at 230 fifth.

Do I need to make a reservation for a party of 3 on a Saturday afternoon? What is the dress code?

When I went 5/2021 no reservation was needed. We did have to wait about 15 minutes outside in line to get in. There was a $20 cover charge, per person that night. There was no posted dress code, some people were dressed up and some were casusl.…

    Do they sell hookah?

    No they don't

Is a reservation on Saturday night for 6 recommended or do you think we'll be fine without reservation?

If you want a table in an igloo its recommended

Is the indoor penthouse open now? Also is there a happy hour menu?

Indoors and outdoors are open. You can see our menus 230-fifth.com/menus

What is the 15 blockbuster movie list?

Unfortunately because the type of license we have we can't publish. But if you write to us on instagram we can share it.

I've seen mixed reviews so was just wondering if there is a charge for entering As well as during the pandemic are you able to enter the igloos free of charge or how is this…

Alexis, We have a cover charge of $20 dollars on Friday and Saturday after 5pm. Igloos should be reserved as they are not shared like before covid.

We were sat at the bar once and were very well taken care of by our bartender, Nikola. It was a Sunday night, so it wasn't terribly busy. It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. Since we had cocktails at dinner, we only stayed for one round. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my time at Patent Pending. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

We walked in without a reservation around 6:20 p.m., and they were able to accommodate us at a shared table until 7:15. The menu surprised me a bit. Since I associated the address with Eleven Madison Park, I wasn't expecting to see items like wings stuffed with sausage, which were done in partnership with Jungsik. We ordered those along with the mushroom burger and asked them to cut the burger in half for us. The cocktail menu was creative and a little intimidating, with unconventional ingredients like cream cheese and green curry. I went with a fruity Hendrick's-based drink, and my friend ordered the spicy green curry martini. Both were good. Mine didn't taste very strong, but it also wasn't overly sweet because there was enough bitterness to balance it out. The green curry martini was more adventurous but still worked. Service was mixed. There was a woman standing near us, so we tried ordering food with her, but she seemed hesitant to come over. Maybe she wasn't a server or was newer. For drinks, she brought over someone more seasoned, who quickly helped guide us based on our preferred taste profiles. Her suggestions were very good. The mushroom burger was the highlight for me. It was a little salty, but the crispy mushroom and soft bun were a great combination. I honestly wished I had more than half. The wings were okay. They were crispy on the outside and juicy inside, but coated in a Dorito-like powder that made them very messy. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd come back, especially for the mushroom burger.
