10/10 great views!!! We had no reservation and made it here between work meetings and work dinner, and we got seated in about 20 mins or so. The sunset hour is perfect in the summer and fall. I loved the drinks menu. The place was packed on a Thursday evening, so keep that in mind, but the service was still pretty quick!
The night we visited, it was raining in New York, so the rooftop wasn't open when we arrived. Since it was our first time here, we really wanted to experience the outdoor terrace, so we decided to wait. We ended up waiting for about an hour, believing it would be worth it--and it absolutely was. As soon as the rain stopped, the staff welcomed us upstairs and seated us at an incredible table with a breathtaking view. The bar manager was especially kind and helpful, making sure we got upstairs as soon as it reopened. We really appreciated his hospitality. The atmosphere here is amazing. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. The service was excellent, and the restaurant was spotless. Honestly, it's hard for me to understand why this place has received so many negative reviews. If I had one suggestion, it would be the menu. The appetizer selection felt a bit limited. There were two chicken appetizer options, and I think adding choices like shrimp or a few more varieties would make the menu even better. The only other minor downside was that the restrooms were extremely small. Other than that, none of those things really mattered. To be honest, once you're sitting on that rooftop, the food almost becomes secondary. The view is absolutely spectacular, the atmosphere is unforgettable, and the entire experience was worth every minute we waited. A big thank you to the wonderful staff for making our evening so memorable.
$25 for a burger and fries is wild but that's New York for you anyways Happy hour drinks 2-5pm weekdays Price aside, this rooftop is very pretty! I went to watch the World Cup and they had 3 TV's outside playing it with sound. Tons of seating and very aesthetic area. It seemed like they didn't have enough people working Friday evening because service was slow (but there were a LOT of people on the roof) They have one corner set aside for private parties and I would totally consider renting it

We came for the Fourth of July event and the tickets were honestly not bad what was not included were any drinks but that's a given anywhere in New York haha. Staff were friendly and we ended up getting a reserved table that had a minimum of $400 so that split into a group isn't bad at all. Lovely views and places to take pictures. Highly recommend for any event or just to hang out too!
I don't think we could've chose a better spot to end the night. I wish I got more content of the inside but I was having too good of a time. There was a cover and a line but it was totally worth it. The drinks were great, the ambiance is sexy, and the dj was rolling. The lounge and the rooftop bar is separate with each having their own vibe, both were lit we really enjoyed ourselves. Maybe a little too much ;) will definitely be back. When in NYC, check this out.

Some events get pretty wild for the party crowd. Also, they do have designated smoking areas on site, something to be aware of before your visit.

Come here for the view alone. I always like to visit roof top bars where ever I go. I love to see a town or city from a different angle.
This was my 2nd time visiting and I had good experiences both times. There was no wait to get inside and once at the rooftop, no wait for a drink. The bar offers fun cocktails and regular drinks. Plenty of seating available, tvs, and a great view of the city.
Don't do it. Don't come here - and definitely don't bring a group. I came here for a brunch and the food was at best mediocre. I tried to give it a second shot with setting up an evening reservation with a group. To my shock, the lack of professionalism of the staff is just unmatched. First they tell us what the pricing is for our group, then they come back saying we might not all sit together. Then, after the fact, they say they'll do their best - why on earth would I make a reservation for a group when we can't sit together (even though we were initially told, like a normal place would, that we would be together). Then they cancel on us. They kept pushing us around where I finally had to request a refund. Not a good vibe.

Great! we picked the igloo since we were a party of four that arrived 12nn. When we went to place our order we were told the kitchen only opens at 4pm so there really is no food menu. Luckily there was cheese pizza, cocktails and smores hot coco and so we got those instead. Despite that lack of info regarding the menu we still enjoyed our time there coz of their beautiful view and decor and just ended up taking a bunch of pics. Hopefully next time info is so much clearer as we had hoped to have lunch there.
Came here Valentine's night after dinner. Line moved SOOO quickly. It was crowded but we found an igloo seat (shared) immediately. Drinks were good, but nothing beats the view. The Empire State and (not pictured) Chrysler building?! 10/10. If you've never done a rooftop bar in NYC, I highly recommend 230 fifth st- no reservation needed!!

You get your food and drinks from a window and no employees are seen beyond that. Steak lacked flavor and they had no sauces besides ketchup.... Not cool. So we ate our bland steak and distracted ourselves with the beautiful view. If you stare at the view as you eat, the food seems to taste better. Probably won't be back.

Heyyy hey! If u haven't been 230 fifth rooftop is happening w/ the right vibe. Off the elevator is a dance floor w/ vibing music based on the night u have a mature crowd & young crowd. Then in the very tippy top- rooftop where drinks are pouring limitless, the largest bar I've ever seen & steak & fries is on the menu too. U can see the Empire State Building for tourists. Plan failed. We came in for a rooftop view exploration but the outdoor seating was closed after a heavy rain. We need to make another trip to see the best this rooftop offers. We were not excited seating on their indoor seats especially that due to the fact that it was overcrowded our group was split into 2 to be seated. Nevertheless, we enjoyed their overpriced drinks and light bites. There is nothing much to see on this level . They should have thought of a city view window for a photo opportunity. read more

Great place to take out of towners to. No cover charge, just time it to go during off peak to avoid the lines. We came on a cold fall day so there was no line to deal with. It was however cold but was thankful for the heaters they had on. There were also blankets you can put on for extra warmth. Cocktails are ok at less than $20 each. Located in the Flatiron district, this massive rooftop bar offers a stunning and closeup view of the NYC skyline as well as an unobstructed view of the top of the Empire State Building. Came here with a group of coworkers for an after work happy hour. Although both indoor and outdoor seating is provided, we opted for outdoors as it was such a beautiful day. There is not much shade when sitting outdoors, so I can imagine it can get pretty brutal here during the peak of summer. Although we came at a pretty good time and were able to snag a table, this place filled up really fast. Despite the popularity, it was good to see the waitress still stopping by our table to refresh our drinks periodically. I've been to 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar a couple of times, and it's always a great experience! Most recently, I visited around Halloween with friends visiting from Vancouver. They only take walk-ins, but the rooftop is huge, so getting a table usually isn't a problem. The Halloween décor was festive, especially the arch setup -- perfect for photos. We ordered cocktails (vodka with ginger beer), which were okay, and some pizza slices that were decent. The real highlight here is definitely the incredible city view and lively atmosphere. During colder days, they provide red hooded robes to keep you warm, and there are heaters near each table, making it super cozy even in winter. Not sure how often the robes are cleaned, but if you don't mind that small detail, it's a fun and unique touch. Overall, a must-visit spot for the views, vibes, and that classic NYC rooftop experience. read more

I came here with some friends (party of 7) as we had a reservation inside an igloo. The evening we came was perfect weather so we got to see a good sunset. The drinks were good so I would definitely come back just for drinks. The food was average, nothing to write home about. The decor and size of the place was great. But service was definitely weird, they barely checked on us for water refills and he seemed annoyed that we were even there tbh. Like I understand there's a time limit but you don't have to be sassy about it yk? read more
I really enjoyed the vibes at this bar! We were able to wait a few minutes to find a table for our group. We enjoyed our drinks, but the music could have been a lot better, the DJ played trance the whole time and made us feel tired. The views from the rooftop is incredible though! The line at the bar took forever to move. The people we met here were great though. I'm definitely coming back here in the summer which I find is the perfect weather to be here. read more

It was a lovely evening in New York, and I was so happy to meet with my friend. We decided to go to a rooftop bar, and it was actually my first time ever being on a rooftop in general. This one required walk-in payment. So be ready for that. It was pretty crowded but we were lucky to find one space to sit and order drinks and a plate of nachos. They were delicious! Crunchy, topped with all the usual goodies, and served in a big portion. We enjoyed them a lot. As for drinks, the first one we ordered felt like it barely had any alcohol, which was frustrating because it wasn't cheap. We switched to whiskey and cola. Even then, the first round was still weak. On our third try, my friend kindly asked them not to water it down, and this time they got it right! The drink finally tasted the way it should. After that, we headed to the dance floor, and it was so much fun. We danced until around 2 a.m. The atmosphere was great: fun, energetic, and safe. I especially appreciated the presence of guards, which made me feel protected. When people are drinking and dancing, things can sometimes get uncomfortable, but here I felt secure. We loved the music, the energy, and the view. The view was so beautiful. I'd come back to this rooftop again if I'm in NYC. read more

Came here with a large group of nine on a bustling Thursday evening without a reservation. The non-reserved tables here seem to be on a first-come first-serve basis. We were able to find space after about a 20-minute wait after we ordered our drinks. We lucked out with two tables right next to each other, which worked out perfectly. I got the Peach Lemonade which was strong, fresh, and well-made, and of course the rooftop views are unbeatable. The main downside was the limited standing room while waiting for a table to open up. Aside from the space directly in front of the bar, there wasn't much room to hang out until a table was cleared out. That said, I'd come back again, next time with a reservation to make things smoother. With the combination of great drinks, good vibes, and pretty views at sunset, this spot is a must for anyone looking for a fun rooftop experience in NYC. read more
Decent rooftop and you definitely get to see some of the VIEWS but drinks are super overpriced. Sure, this is Manhattan but there are at least 25 other spots that are at least (drink wise) priced for the average Joe to have a good time and not spend too much money. Maybe I'm a little biased since this was my first rooftop bar in the city, but I absolutely loved the view,especially watching the transition from day to night. It was such a cool way to take in the skyline. The drinks were solid and well made, which made the night even better. It definitely gets busy around sunset, so be prepared. I wasn't a big fan of the seating process,it's basically grab a table when you see one open up, which led to some groups scrambling or even arguing over spots. Luckily, we snagged a table right away, but I'd recommend arriving earlier than you think to secure a good seat for the views. a man (not sure if he was an employee) came up to our table with printed photos of us that he had apparently taken without us noticing, and then tried to sell them to us. My group and I were really confused by the whole thing,it felt out of place and a bit awkward. Overall, though, the rooftop vibes and city views made it a memorable stop. read more

Stopped by on a rainy Saturday, early afternoon. I believe they may have closed the rooftop shortly after we arrived - but I am SO grateful they let us up! They had awesome, well-decorated igloos with heaters and speakers within. There was no additional charge at least on the day we came to go to the top. It can be challenging to hear, but it's a fun time with a great view. The drinks are pricey, which makes sense for the location. Because it was relatively cold outside we were able to get an igloo to ourselves for most of the time that we were there. Would come back -- recommend for the city views alone! read more
Beautiful view of the city and Empire State Building, but very disorganized! I stopped by on a Friday at around 3:30 with a group of 6 friends. It wasn't hard to find a table but there was a long line at the two bars. We asked several times and waited 20 mins for the table to be cleaned before we just cleaned it ourselves. I loved how tart and refreshing their frosé is and their piña colada is perfectly sweet! There's also lots of cute spaces for photo opps! read more
Wonderful night to be out in NYC. The Knicks are playing and the weather is definitely feeling like Spring. Everyone is here tonight, the drinks were strong. We waited and waited. We waited 45 minutes for fish and chips (which I could definitely understand because of the crowd). Cod fish and french fries arrived cold. This is Manhattan I expect better. Our last visit was totally lit. Tonight was extremely meh. Go for drinks and the view of the city. Food disappointing tonight. read more

Such a beautiful place during the holidays to sit and enjoy the lights and beautiful views of the city! The seasonal heated igloos and Christmas decorations are a must visit during the holidays. There's lots of photo opportunities on the rooftop as well as a Photo Booth inside. They have plenty of restrooms in this location as well, which I thought was helpful in the city! Their seasonal drinks are delicious and their small plates are pretty good too. Definitely a perfect spot on a chilly night to hang with friends or family, grab drink drinks, or for a bite to eat! read more

2025: Winter. A rooftop bar for the family!(not for with strollers tho) they have heaters on tables and closed areas or bubbles(but cant see full view). You can see the empire state building and chrysler bldg from here. No DJ. Self service for drinks and foods. They also have comforter/blankets offered for free. Lots of restrooms(but are tight spaced). There could be a line if you go peak hours. You must present ID when going in. See images for reference. read more

When I went they wouldn't even let someone mom in because she didn't have her ID with her. I'm not sure why the other person said yes, but they check IDs and online make your ensure you're over 21

Alexis, We have a cover charge of $20 dollars on Friday and Saturday after 5pm. Igloos should be reserved as they are not shared like before covid.
