The concept is totally different, they fusion Japanese, Venezuelan and Peruvian gastronomy. Unique food creations with a wide menu catering to many palettes. We started our meal with the crispy lady and ceviche which were both phenomenal and extremely fresh. We then tried the lubina dumplings which I though was a little fishy but my friend found it utterly delightful. The sushi rolls came next and we extremely delicious and you could taste the freshness of the fish. We finished our meal off with the bourbon salmon noodles which was an explosion of flavor in your mouth. The salmon was moist and perfectly cooked and the noodles had amazing flavor with tons of veggies in giving it great texture. Overall I would very much recommend this place! read more

The absolute worse place to go to on a day night. If you not Jewish they will ignore you !!! We sat down after waiting which is fine. There was 4 table in the entire resturant that are occupied , we wait with menus 20 min with no one comes to take our order or even bring us water and when I asked a waiter to help us he goes oh I can't I am not your waiter. And I asked the female waiter to help us she said one sec I will find your waiter 10 min after no one comes. We ran into this place completely unexpectedly. We were actually looking for Cuban food and had meant to go to Barbacoa, but it was closed, turned out to be lucky for us. This was our first experience with kosher sushi. And It was outstanding. The sushi was extremely fresh and delicious. We had a variety of different rolls recommended by our server and we liked them all. The fish tacos are superb as well. The dumplings are tasty but very small so be aware of that. I also liked the sushi burrito (a pleasant surprise!). The "karate kid" roll was my favorite. The owner also came and spoke to us about how his dad started the place. Very cool. read more

We ordered Mojito's and on Mondays it's 2-for-1, as it states on the drink menu. We told the waiter that that's what we want to do..he happily took our order then when the check came we thought it was an error that he charged us for two and then said that's only at the bar and there's nothing he can do. He then comes back with the check says he took off the first one and it's free & rushes away. when I look at the check nothing has changed at all and I don't bother bring it up because i've already waited to long for him to come back in general after he dropped off our drinks. We just wanted to leave. I had to ask the hostess for the check because the waiter never came back after he dropped off the mojitos. Never even asked us if our food or drinks were good either...at any point. It was decent not worth 18-25$ a roll. NOT EVEN CLOSE!!! We ordered two rolls both which came out separate and after what felt like 15 minutes apart. So we didn't get a third or desert because it would've all probably take too long. This miso soup is extremely plain and 95% broth 1 tofu square! Lmao 2-3 extra long mushrooms. I wouldn't recommend coming here for sushi and the mediocre service. Glad to see new restaurants open up on north Harding near the mall after decades of just crusty shops and restaurants in this sleepy old strip. However, 26, I truly hate to say I was disappointed. I really wanted to like you, 26, I really did!!! Firstly, about the grub... The hamachi tacos were the first thing we tried, which were awesome. Fresh, light, and simple. Delicious. We were off to a good start. My server recommended Caribbean maki roll of the plantain chips and faux shrimp with cilantro aioli and I truly wish he had not. This roll needs to be completely removed from the menu and reassessed by the chef and the owner. It is painfully dry, lacks dimension, and most of all flavor. We requested the ceviche since we figured it would be a safe dish to try, but it was instead over-seasoned and hard to eat. So disappointed. I'm happy to say service was welcoming and friendly. Thumbs up there. I promise I am not being picky or overly critical. The dated interior didn't bother me (think ultra contemporary white circa 2001), even the lack of background music or lack of ambience (there's more ambience inside a PF Chang's in comparison) and the menu prices were not an issue. The food is just in need of a serious SOS. All in all I treat this as a fair and honest critique for the management and the owner. Sushi was ok but very small selection. The dumplings were nasty. Very astringent vinegary sauce that was inedible. Dumplings were doughy and undercooked. The waitress was Ana. She brought our food before drinks, did not bring any soy sauce or ginger or wasabi - and I had to ask other wait staff for the condiments. When she asked how everything was, I told her. Then she argued with me. Dont ask if you don't want to know! Then when she went to get the soy sauce - came back and had another go at me. Had a great time here last night. Ordered the sushi pizza, mozzarella cheese sushi tempura roll, cream of carrot soup, blueberry cheesecake, and a couple teas. Food is pricy but great. Ambiance is so nice. Maitre d got us a table even though we didn't have reservation (place was full due to vacation). Sushi pizza was very tasty, albeit small. Sushi was amazing, as was $4 cream of carrot. My wife loved the cheesecake. But here's what boggles me: a cup of tea is $5, but a bowl of soup is $4. When I asked about this, the waitress kindly took one off the bill but told me that they are "seasonal teas." How that justifies the price beats me. To be honest, if the soup was more expensive, I wouldn't of noticed. Please change the price of the tea (maybe to $3) and I'll change this review to five stars because this place deserves five. I'd return in a second here even if they don't change the prices. I'd like to try the chef's sampler ($45). I highly suggest it. Chef Fernando Chang -and his team- go out of their way to make sure you leave with a lasting impression; as did I when I first visited almost 2 years ago. 26 is my favorite sushi restaurant and one of my favorite restaurants overall in South Florida and here's why - I've had many items on the menu and although I haven't been able to narrow down one (1) favorite (because everything is amazing), I'll list the best sellers and must try selections (with pictures to follow). Special thanks to Juan, who has served me almost each time and has helped me understand and appreciate everything that goes into making each dish. MUST TRY TAPAS: The Nikkei Tacos. Four savory crispy tacos stuffed with ceviche, pineapple puree, and lettuce. Sounds simple, but doesn't taste simple at all. Crunchy Lettuce Wraps served with crispy yet soft tempura, crumbles of cashew pistachio, asian slaw, and a cup of aji amarillo to drizzle overtop (or dip). Los Tostones - Three crispy plantains (or patacones as I call them) topped with ceviche. Bring on the Peruvian flavor! You cant leave 26 without trying at least one of their ceviche's. My personal favorite: the "cevichito" because it's the closest you get to the famous dish. Corvine, red onions, etc. Last but certainly not least, my favorite, the SUSHI PIZZA. This is a banger for your buck. Topped with tuna, guac, rocoto, small cherry tomatoes, and sweet sauce. Like an explosion in your mouth. Literally. MUST HAVE SUSHI ROLLS: My all time favorite: EL MIAMITO (I think the name speaks for itself, and you'll see why). A combination of tuna, salmon, mango, avo, topped with coconut flakes and guava sauce. Talk about Mr. 305. Cholito Samurai - This one's hot. Spicy Hamachi, crab tempura, tuna, guac and serrano peppers. Lastly, their Maduros con Coco are a perfect combination of sweet and savory goodness! Filled with cream cheese, coconut flakes, sweet sauce, avo and corvine. And their larger sharing plates: The CHAUFA is amazing. I ordered mine with Quinoa, but you can replace the quinoa with rice if you're feeling frisky. It comes with plantains, scallions, a fried egg, and to vamp up the protein, I added some salmon. Their Miso Bass (Sea Bass) is pretty amazing too. Drizzled miso, shimeshi mushrooms, and Chilean sea bass. It doesn't end quite yet.. the desserts. My favorite: THE CRONUT. What is a cronut you ask? It's a donut and a croissant COMBINED. Sweet, crispy, flakey, cinnamoney, topped with vanilla ice-cream, and strawberries. Did I mention it's my favorite dessert of all? Molten lava cake. I'm crazy about hot/cold combinations and this is the best example. Ice, ice cold vanilla ice-cream, and steamy warm chocolate sauce with cake. Once you cut into the cake, the "lava" gently pours. Sigh. That's enough on the food, plus I think you get the point. In the heart of Surfside - where Kosher meets culinary art, Peruvian infused flavors, and rare dishes. The actual restaurant itself is bright, welcoming, elegant, and family owned. It offers a bar, a dining area, a sushi bar, and an outdoor patio - pretty much anything you're in the mood for. If it's your first time here, I would highly recommend the Chef's sampler so that you can get a taste of everything, sorta. Also, their happy hour specials are pretty amazing (for your wallet and your pallet). All in all, 26 Sushi Tapas has really made me appreciate the culture of the kosher community which is why I rave about this place so much. They say consistency is key, and 26 has always provided consistent customer service, cleanliness, ambiance, and most important of all - five star food quality and presentation. I placed my order for take out and was told 35-45 minutes for the order to be ready. I got to the restaurant after 50 minutes and they said it would be right out. 15 minutes later they went to see what was going on and brought it out and said it was just finished. But when I got home less than 5 minutes later, the fish tacos were cold and soggy so I'm guessing that it just got stuck in a back corner somewhere and forgotten. This was my first time in the Surfside area, what a cute strip! Went to this restaurant and it was an awesome tapas spot! Service was on point, venue was super chic, and of course the food was delicious!! The appetizers are very different and the flavor was great. Specially the nitro scallops. The rolls are unique!! I was blown away by the Maduros con Coco, the Cumbia and the Chiquis rolls. Other dishes worthy of note are the two faced edamame and the burritos. They seemed to get better on the burrito as the rice component has gone down which I think is good. I absolutely love this place. I've been here twice in the past year and the food is amazing. Literally everything that I have eaten here was great. The first time I came here i had salmons wings. The salmon was lightly fried with the skin on it was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Now when I came tonight their happy Hour menu is better than doroku. To start we had the edamame half of the edamame had lemon sea salt on it. The other half was a sweet chili sauce I think. The molly tostones are robust in flavor. Our server, Jason, played a huge part in why I'm giving this restaurant 5 stars because he was so great, attentive, and friendly, and I imagine the rest of the staff is no different. For cocktails my boyfriend had the Guava Pop and I had the Mango mojito, which was a very good size for the price, I wish I could have had 2 or 3 more! For appetizers the cevichito and the maduros con coco sushi roll, amazing. The main course I had the quinoa chaufa since I'm not a huge salmon lover. I'm not sure what kind of sauce they used for it but it made the dish taste so unique and amazing. Finally, for dessert we had the coconut flan and passion fruit dessert which provided a delicious ending to this wonderful meal.
