We decided to go to get a little snack and coffee to start the day before some errands. I got a vanilla latte, while he got a mocha latte. Both iced. I got almond milk and hubby got oat milk. I enjoyed the blend of coffee and flavor - not either one overpowering each other. I personally like a little more syrup but it wasn't undrinkable. The almond milk was a teeny bit woody. I'll get oat milk next time. The cashier helped us decided on what pastries to get (there wasn't any signage). I ended up getting a strawberry croissant that was so pretty - it even had some gold glitter on top! Perfect for cherry blossom season. It was flaky and not too sweet. Hubby got a cinnamon roll and they warmed it up for it so it was nice and gooey. It was a cute urban feeling cafe with great AC and comfy seating. The place is a nice and friendly but their matcha game is extremely weak. First off, not made fresh (was in a squirt bottle premade. Second, they barely add any to your drink. I had to ask for more and the picture is the color with them adding more. For almost 7$ it's not worth it. read more

This place is very cute with that urban almost minimal modern style in a cafe. I love the art on display in the cafe. It makes for a very peaceful and relaxing vibe. The vanilla latte was good, just not excellent. It wasn't too strong which is a plus for me since too strong coffee can cause me a stomach ache. The lid is too loose though, so I started spilling over myself in the car. The staff were really nice and efficient--the two of them held down the fort very effortlessly. It helps that it was Presidents' Day so it wasn't too busy. Parking lot was empty on weekends, but during the workday, it can get hectic. read more

This may be one of my favorite coffee places to visit in Vienna, or even the DMV! The ambiance is exactly what I want in a cafe, really chill lofi beats playing in the background in a spacious environment. It's almost too quiet considering there was a few people who were inside but were conversing quietly or doing work. I got the Mocha Latte & a Almond Croissant. My classic go to combo. The staff who made my latte was really kind and didn't mind doing latte art. It's so pretty! The Mocha was delicious and the Croissant was delicious even when it wasn't heated up. Another staff person did ask if I would like it warm but I opted to eat it as is. I'll be coming back for more as I adventure through the streets of Vienna! read more

i've gone to many coffee shops in the dmv area and can say that this one is now in my top 3. i have never met such a kind barista that is professional, good at what they do, and is knowledgeable. he took his time with every customer, making them feel welcome and cared for. the interior and simple - with lots of seating for various group sizes. this is the calmest cafe i have been to. the music is not to loud and everyone was whispering, which made it very pleasant to enjoy my coffee. both their decaf espresso and oatmilk are delicious. best latte i have ever had, genuinely. so so impressed with this cafe. will be returning. read more

DRINKS I ordered the mocha, and my friend ordered the hot chocolate. Both were aesthetically pleasing, and although my friend liked her drink, I found the mocha to be lacking in terms of both strength of the coffee itself and the intensity of the chocolate. There wasn't really much flavor to the drink, and it felt like I was drinking semi-sweetened frothy milk than a mocha. FOOD My friend ordered the avocado toast, and it was rather disappointing. For the $6 price tag, one would assume there would be more toppings or two pieces of toast, but it was just half an avocado spread on a small piece of toast with some sprouts as garnish. There was a splash of seasoning but even then, there was nothing really of note. SERVICE The service was standard; nothing else of note. AMBIANCE The ambiance turned what would have been a 2-star review to a 3-star. It had a very clean, spacious, modern aesthetic, and is a great place to study or catch up with friends. Outlets are available throughout the space as well. BATHROOMS Single-roomed men's and women's bathrooms are available to customers. PARKING A parking lot is available by the store that is shared with neighboring vendors. A slightly above average coffee place with good to lesser superior coffee, good food, and mildly above average desserts. Prices are beyond fair for an area like Vienna. You simply won't find an equal or better like product in the area, for equal or lesser price point. While the quality of ingredients and execution are evident in the food, incorporating other flavors and techniques may elevate them to the next level. Coffee-wise, I must say this place has some of the best in the area; especially compared to other Western style cafes. Try their iced americano for comparison, to simply experience and compare coffee as is. A few of their signature coffee creations are great, as well. Overall, 3.5 to 3.75 stars. A nice quiet coffee shop in Vienna. It is a pretty plainly decorated spot in a strip mall. Plenty of parking. Quiet music plays in the background. They don't have much in the way of snacks. The shop has a nice LaMarzoco machine that didn't disappoint. The barista did an excellent job preparing the drink and the milk was expertly textured and really nice latte art was produced. i loved it here! friend and i decided to stop by and get some work done. we both got matcha lattes with oat milk, but mine had the addition of rose syrup (?) flavoring. the drinks: such a smooth sipping experience and ofc beautiful presentation! it wasn't very sweet, which surprised me initially since im so used to having very strong and sweet matcha at other places. the rose flavoring was subtle and a perfect aftertaste. i will say i wish it had a slight bit more of sweetness, but i think i still enjoyed it overall. service was great and the barista was so friendly and kind! the interior: so tasteful, quiet and perfect for getting work done (there are a few plugs), good lighting and comfortable seating. it was raining when we went, which added to the ambience. would definitely recommend, and i'll definitely be back for more read more

29th Parallel is a great place to grab "snob" worthy coffee! This is my first time at the Vienna location, and I had a great experience. The barista was super easy to talk to and recommended a great pour over option for me. They don't roast any beans in house. From what I've seen, they get their beans from Black & White Coffee Roasters (based in NC) and Ceremony Coffee Roasters (based in MD) and the pour over options change every week. POUR OVER - 4.95 Depending on what beans you want to try, the price of a pour over can be different. The "cheaper" options is 4.95, but if you want to try higher quality beans, then it's 5.95. Today, I was able to try the "La Muralla - Gesha" (tasting notes: jasmine tea, meyer lemon, red plum, simple syrup) from B&W. With pour overs, take a few sips when it's hot just to feel it out but consider waiting until your drink cools down a bit. You will definitely taste more of the fruity and floral flavors when it's a bit cooler. Gesha has such a unique coffee profile since it's fruity but not acidic. It's literally drinking fruit flavored water. Super high quality. I would recommend trying whatever higher quality pour over option they have here. The interior was spacious (lots of empty space with enough tables). Good place to just chill on a Saturday afternoon while enjoying a cup of delicious pour over (or whatever drink you'd like). I'm glad I stopped by the Vienna location today and will return in the future to try other coffee drinks or another pour over! read more

Thank you to 29th Parallel Coffee for putting an extra pep in my step this morning! This brand new coffee shop is still in their soft opening phase (they mentioned the supply chain issue has been hitting them hard) but they have all the bones of becoming a local favorite: great coffee, beautiful atmosphere, and friendly owners. I walked in asking if they had any specialty lattes and the co-owner Amir went full on storytelling mode about their house favorites, how they prepare each drink with precision and care, and their local roasting partners. It was evident that this coffee shop is a passion project and he is truly invested in becoming a neighborhood staple. My rose latte was delicious and I am looking forward to trying their other house specialties which include the Atlas (which they mentioned takes three days to prepare!) and a cardamom latte. Absolutely love 29th in Burke... so glad that they ventured out and started another branch in Vienna! The space is a lot bigger and there is definitely openness to the feel... I think they can definitely add a lot more seating... but I totally get it with Covid etc. One of the things that's different is that they offer automatic pour over machines... this means that there is super consistency in the amount of water, temp to each pour over. They always offer the best beans... brandy wine, black and white, and the best hard to find micro lots from all over the world (Burke). It's literally my favorite coffee place. I hope that this is the same owner for the Burke and will cherish coffee as much as the Burke location. If you are in the area, it is a must if you are a coffee snob... I heard of 29th Parallel as the one closer to Fairfax Station/GMU, but it looks like there's a new second location here in Vienna now, and you know how I feel when there's a new coffee shop in the neighborhood...I go to visit! I tried a Vanilla Latte (less sweet), which was pretty good although I think next time I'll ask for a little bit more sweetness or get the standard sweetness because maybe that'll give me a better baseline to compare it to. I was afraid to ask for regular sweetness the first time since many of the cafes I do go to end up being way too sweet. Definitely gotta come back and try the regular version though, because the coffee is strong, well-balanced, not acidic/overly bitter/overly roasted, and has a slightly nutty flavor which is how you know the beans are good! I definitely can get my caffeine fix here. The latte art they did was also very pretty. I also had this delicious buttery pastry (didn't get the name) but it reminds me a bit of a kouign amann but slightly larger in size. Just beware the pastry is a bit on the pricier side but that's to be expected with inflation. As for the atmosphere, I can't wait until they officially open because this space is very calming, quiet, and great for studying/working/catching up with a friend/going on a coffee date! There are tables spread out to allow for social distancing, and the interior is modern and airy. I was the only customer there on a Wednesday afternoon (and I am writing this review as I am sitting here enjoying my coffee haha!) As for the service, I believe I talked with the owner(s) and they were both friendly guys who seem to care for the customer's experience. They're still in soft opening phase right now so be on the lookout for their grand opening! Heard about this place knowing its Fairfax Station location and decided to stop in for some java. The menu is very limited, both on the coffee front and baked goods. We decided to skip the few baked goods available and tried a pourover and cappuccino. The espresso drink was great, the pourover was quite acidic, which is not in our flavor profile. But they were only offering the one bean from Ceremony. Also wish the guy would have asked us if we wanted our drinks in a mug rather than to-go cup, since we sat down to have our coffees there. The guy at the counter was very pleasant. We'll try this again, maybe once they've settled in, have signage up, and a larger selection. read more

I've been going to 29th Parallel religiously twice a week since they opened, and they're my favorite coffeehouse, of the many, in Vienna. Why 3 stars? It seems like management or ownership has been slacking. A lot of small frustrations: 1. They switched to a lid supplier for cold drinks that don't fit the cups, causing constant spillage 2. They have the best cold brew coffee in Vienna, but have been out of stock for over a week. When I asked the barista, they said it's because they were 'out of cold brew beans.' I asked why they didn't use any of the copious amount of beans clearly in sight, and they said they aren't allowed to. 3. They are out of sleeves and stirrers, causing you to double-cup the coffee and use disposable spoons to stir, which is a huge waste. read more

Not sweet so you can add sweetness to your own liking rather than having to take whatever cloyingly sweet mixture which is usually the norm. This is my second time at 29th Parallel Coffee in Vienna. The cortado was spectacular. My encounter with the barista was very pleasant. He talked about making cortados and was attentive. He also seemed to be just as courteous to the other customers. The coffee shop is large with many tables and chairs. I most likely will not be coming back. I paid almost $9 for a "lox" bagel and it looked sad (refer to the picture in this review). The place was pretty spacious and empty and I feel that there could've been more seating for a vibe. Service was okay and it moved at an okay speed considering my friend and I were the only customers ordering cold brews. This review is mostly about the lox bagel or any of the bagels. These bagels look like the bagels they give you at hotels where they are packaged individually in plastic bags. The cream cheese was not a lot even on the regular bagel with just cream cheese. I am 99% sure these "lox" are from Costco's smoked salmon where a pack costs just as much as this lox bagel. In the bagel only had 3 pieces of the smoked salmon when the pack comes with at least 24. They are making a killing and I do not think this place is worth it at all. I will not be coming back. read more

The coffee is hands down the best in the area. Their iced latte (whole milk, simple syrup) is a staple of my weekend mornings with my husband. The interior is spacious and comfortable. It only doesn't get 5 stars because I think that the pastry and food options can be improved. I've had their pastries a few times and they just don't land. They're not bad, but when you're having such excellent coffee, anything that's just "fine" feels very lackluster. I'm not sure if they source their baked goods from a local bakery or make in house, but either way they're not my favorite. I think they have some limited breakfast sandwich options, but the only time I've tried to order it, they'd stopped serving at a certain time. It certainly doesn't stop me from coming, and I'll continue to be a regular customer, but that's the one area I think they can stand to improve in. read more
