    Red Fish Sandwich with fries
    Mel M.

After visiting Manatee Springs State Park, my wife and I decided to check out and have lunch in Cedar Key. The GPS suggested a shorter route, with us not knowing part of it is along a hard packed dirt road that took us along Camp Azalea and Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge. When we arrived in Cedar Key, we first checked out the Island Hotel and Restaurant but they weren't open until dinner time. We then pivoted and tried out 2nd Street Cafe that seemed to be doing brisk lunch business. Upon entering, we were seated promptly and presented the menu. My wife ordered their Ultimate Grilled Cheese with sweet potato fries and I ordered their Blacked Red Fish Sandwich with fries. My wife liked the grilled cheese and the sweet potato fries. My sandwich was good but preferred it more "blackened". The portions for the sides were generous...I couldn't finish my fries but helped my wife finish her sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries were really good...crispy exterior with a soft and crumbly interior. All in all, a good lunch and good value. Ambience is fine and service was friendly and attentive. Lunch for 2 with tip came out to around $33.

Everyone was super friendly and the food was amazing I would recommend the restaurant to anyone in the area

I very rarely do bad reviews and in fact I think this may be my first. We normally love small hometown diners for breakfast and will norm ally find one or two on every trip we take enjoying the laidback feel and generally good food, but this time was a swing and a miss. My wife ordered the Biscuits and Grave and as the captions for my photos allude to the Gravy for the biscuits and gravy was like wallpaper paste. I ordered the French Toast Skillet and the toast was raw on the inside. So my wife set her plate to the side and ate the edges of my French toast I ate the eggs and hash browns ( they were made well hence the 2 stars) and asked for the check. We do not like to make a sene and I simply will n be ot eat at a restaurant after sending food back but I would have expected the wait staff to have at least asked about the virtually untouched biscuits and gravy and the half eaten French toast but not a word was said. We paid and left. So in short bad food sub par service. My guess is that this place survives due to it being cheap and the simple fact that there are so few choices.

Very pleasant little cafe with delicious food and drinks! Very happy I found it! My waitress was super cute and sweet! The outdoor tables were perfect to sit at and enjoy my breakfast and Bloody Mary!

Super cute breakfast cafe in Cedar Key. We walked here from Firefly Cottages and sat on the patio. The service was impeccable as all the staff were super friendly and helpful. Let's talk about the food. We each ordered a skillet meal. I got the breakfast skillet that had hash browns, eggs, breakfast ham and cheddar cheese. My boyfriend got the eggs Benedict skillet. It was so good we forgot to take a picture. We just dove right in. Get the biscuit. Trust me. This was the best biscuit I think I ever had. It was warm, soft and buttery. It was perfect. Get a whole basket. Trust me.

We came by for a quick coffee and breakfast snack. The window was done for Christmas brooms, very cute! We had a Cafe Mocha and Caramel Machiato with oat milk and chocolate chocolate chip muffin and cranberry orange scone. We really enjoyed the coffees as they were not over sweet. Our muffin and scone were also good. Only suggestion would be to add skim milk to the options for coffee. The service was quick and friendly.

Showing the tiny uniform pieces of onions, very much like dried onions.

The service wasn't bad but not a lot of personality. My husband ordered a sandwich and she asked what he wanted on it, as he was telling her she said don't you want cheese and he said it comes with cheese. He proceeded to say everything the menu said was on the sandwich. Being gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian I was searching for something to eat. All the salads had meat and cheese on them and it was a little cold outside so I decided to get the French onion soup figuring that I could just remove the cheese. The soup wasn't even lukewarm! And I would bet it was made with a dry mix like the kind you use for onion dip. I took a picture of it to try and show how tiny the onions were and it was pretty tasteless. I can't recommend this restaurant at all

While this place does not look like much on the outside or the inside, this was easily the best breakfast we had our entire trip. So much so that we ended up going twice despite only being in Cedar Keys for 4 days. We ended up going here because most businesses are closed until Wednesday in Cedar Key and this was one of the few that was open at the beginning of the week. While there's not much ambiance in the restaurant, you will be greeted and sat immediately by the friendly staff. Both times we visited I ordered the breakfast burrito because it was that delicious! My dad ordered the blueberry crepes and they were also fantastic. If I ever find myself back in Cedar Key, this spot is definitely at the top of my list for a revisit!

Overall this was a nice place. The lox bagel okay- not made there but still good. Their stuffed crepes were not very good with flavored cream cheese and what resembled canned fruit ice cream topping. Nice brunch cocktails options. Dog friendly with outside patio seating.

We sat on the patio because we had our dog and it was so nice and breezy. The server was so kind and sweet. The food was delicious and very hearty. The prices were fair for the amount of food and quality. We would definitely go back.

Cedar Key is a pretty sleepy place and more so on a Tuesday morning when many businesses are closed. We hoped for a nice bakery and some coffee, but stumbled on this old school quaint cafe. Nice waitstaff seated us and we looked over the menu. Mostly breakfast classics with the addition of crepes and biscuit dishes. I got the blueberry French toast. The bread was average but the homemade blueberry compote and compound butter made it a nice meal. My wife got the biscuits and gravy. She said they were also good, though made from freezer biscuit dough not scratch. Overall a solid but not remarkable place. But exactly what you need to get the day started

biscuits and gravy, omelette, hash browns.

I really enjoyed this cafe! Found it while venturing out, exploring the area. There was not too much open during this time here, but luckily I found 2nd Street Cafe:) They were implementing all the necessary COVID-19 precautions that customers would want to feel safe while visiting. I especially enjoyed their French Toast! The omelette I ordered was pretty tasty as well:)

While visiting family nearby in Chiefland, we stopped into Cedar Key one morning before our trip concluded. It was a Wednesday in July, and overall the area was not super busy. We came up to The Prickly Palm around noon on a Wednesday in July, and were one of a few customers there. This coffee trailer is located in the main part of Cedar Key. I recently learned that they used to have a brick and mortar, but that was unfortunately destroyed by the hurricane last year. Despite this, their trailer and whole current set-up is very cute and inviting. The trailer is set up along 2nd Street, and sits in the back of the lot. You will see a sandwich board sign indicating where the lot is, along with a ton of outdoor seating under tents. There is not a dedicated parking lot specifically for The Prickly Pear, but we had no issue finding street parking right near the entrance. The menu here is very diverse and full of variety! Not only do they have coffee, but there are also smoothies, açaí bowls, milkshakes, and breakfast items. I was especially impressed with the variety of flavoring for the coffees. Sometimes, places only have a few flavors. However, there was a solid collection of flavors and different combinations marketed for customers to choose from! It seems like there are seasonal options available, as they had a lot of banana coffee options on this particular day. I appreciated the different sizing options for the coffee. Especially for the iced, as typically a lot of local coffee places do not have bigger sizes (comparable to a Dunkin or Starbucks). The Large Iced is 32OZ, which was a pleasant surprise! They did seem to have a size for everyone, whether they want a lot of coffee or just a regular amount. I personally ended up ordering a Large Iced Banana Nut Mocha Latte, but requested half of the syrups to tone down the sweetness. It was really good! I am iffy at times on banana flavoring, as I am not a fan of artificial banana. Even so, I liked this latte and enjoyed it throughout the afternoon. The others I was with all enjoyed their drinks as well! This was my first time visiting here, and the employees could not have been more welcoming! I asked for recommendations and their favorites, and they gave a lot of good suggestions and information. There were three of us total, each getting a large latte or cold brew. The total was a little under $30 for all of it. So, this place is a little more expensive than other spots, but I do believe the value is there. Plus, you are supporting a small business which is a win! Loved visiting The Prickly Palm for the first time. We tend to come to the area at least once a year, and I look forward to our next visit so I can make another trip to The Prickly Palm for a delicious latte! I would recommend giving this spot a try if you find yourself in Cedar Key.

I've always kinda liked Bett's Big T but also used to have reservations about it. Back circa 2015,…read moreit was pretty run down, looked pretty grim honestly. I guess it began as a truck stop decades ago and then became solely a restaurant. Anyways, they have had a cosmetic refresh, painting the building, adding cute signage including some features explaining Bett's long history, and just made the dining rooms a down-home but clean and inviting place now. This goes a long way: I am all for hole-in-the-wall restaurants but you don't want a place to look dirty, either. Bett's no longer does. It looks comfortable and plain-spoken, honest, and home town now. The food has always been good. You get a menu dinner or daily special--things like chicken fried steak or liver and onions or fried mullet--and a choice of three sides. The sides range from mac-n-cheese and collards to normally a couple homemade desserts: the peach cobbler and strawberry cake both are not to be missed. Portions are generous. Their Friday and Saturday all-you-can-eat seafood dinner is also a real deal and good food. Red velvet cake, caramel cake, and lemon cake are hits too but less frequent in their menu appearances. Ford hook limas sometimes show up too, slowly cooked with bacon or ham and are awesome. The painting and general interior and exterior refresh really went a long ways with me to have greater confidence in Bett's. It's now easily a place I rank with some of the region's best country/Southern cooking restaurants.
