I realized I needed to return to the store the next day to "re-shop" my choices. Next day I go to store. At this point I am told I cannot exchange, return or get a store credit. No one ever told me that this was the case. Not when I first purchased. Not when I called. There is no sign that states this policy. So basically, I made a $200 donation. Transparency regarding store policies is a must. So much for doing business with local, small businesses. Cannot support the small businesses that are not doing ethical business. Small businesses work hard for every client. You would think as hard as it is the customer would be valued and treated honestly.

She was an older white woman with short hair. When my sister and I walked in, she didn't greet us. Instead, she looked us up and down and walked away. We immediately felt disrespected, but we decided to continue browsing and see what the store had to offer. After a while, one of the other employees did eventually ask how I was doing, which I appreciated. However, the initial interaction really left a lasting impression. I had heard other women of color share similar experiences at this store, which was actually one of the reasons it took me so long to shop here in the first place. Unfortunately, my experience seemed to confirm the concerns I had heard from others. The quality of these clothes is top of the line and the design is exquisite. When I received the item it was damaged. I called in to process the return and replacement. A few days later I called to check on the item and was told the new one would not be sent until the damaged item was received back at their warehouse but if it was sent the next day, I would still receive the new toy chest 4 to 9 days before my granddaughter's birthday. I called again a few days later. Spoke with a lady who apologized for the delay. She said they had received the item but that my money was in process of being returned and my replacement had been cancelled (she didn't know why). I would simply need to purchase again online. She provided a 15% discount for the trouble and promised that I would receive it in time for my granddaughter's first birthday if I ordered that day. I went online to order the item and the personalization color is not available. All I got after another hour on the phone was apologies, my refund was just issued the same day and that they can't help and don't know when the personalization color would be available. I am now 9 days from my first grandchild's first birthday and don't have a gift. Poor communication, inaccurate information from different associates and even the manager had no additional information or assistance. PBK has lost me as a customer.
