Dined at 3 Palms for the first time on our recent trip to St. Thomas. Nice place, venue is upper level in a building next to the marina. We arrived a bit ahead of schedule, so we opted for the bar and had a couple of cocktails. Nice speciality cocktail list, decent wine list. I normally make a few observations about our server, but I cannot in this review because we didn't really have a server. Service was chaotic,some times the waiter, some times the bartender, some times the manager, some times the hostess... it was a circus, with us having to repeat orders already given to another staff member because there was no communication between the staff.... It wasn't crowded, the restaurant was only about 50% full. The service chaos often resulted in dirty dishes left on the table for 15-20 minutes. We were also told at 8:30pn "the kitchen is closing is 15 minutes"... the restaurant is open until 10:00pm! Comical... so the food was rushed out, I assume, in time for them to lock the doors at 10:00pm. The food was decent enough, but the quality of the food didn't make up for the incoherent system of service. The service was a real downer, tough to justify the prices when we're just a party of two and the staff was fully engaged in entertaining other large tables. The food was good, but we don't need to go back. For the price, much better places on the island!

Such a sweet little dinner spot! Service was phenomenal- Bri took excellent care of us. I made a mistake of making the reservation for 2 people when it should have been 4 but they staff handled it perfectly. All I can say is, ORDER THE LOBSTER DUMPLINGS. I would have licked my plate if my better manners had not prevailed. One of my all time favorite meals on St Thomas. We also had the shrimp spaghetti - super tasty but don't expect it to have red sauce. We also had the pork ragú that was pretty tasty as well. Their complementary southern biscuits were a nice treat while we waited on main courses. FYI- the only item on the kids menu was butter noodles. Would definitely come back!

So let's start off by saying it's a very nice restaurant with out door seating and just nice ambiance, service was good very attentive and helpful and fast. Lobster dumplings were amazing the sauce we devoured it all by dipping our biscuits that were also yummy I could've had 2 orders of those and the amazing Brussels and enjoyed my bday dinner we got surf and turf which was good also and husband got steak too which was also good but the stars fir me were those brussel sprouts and the dumplings loved loved loved them. Would recommend would definitely go back.

I came here on a vacation with a group of 8 people and had an amazing time! We made reservations about two weeks before hand and got a table outside with a gorgeous view of the harbor! The service throughout dinner was attentive and I thought the staff was very knowledgeable about the menu. I started out with the rosa tequila cocktail and thought it was refreshing and not too sweet! For appetizers the star was the lobster dumplings! They served biscuits with it that were perfect for enjoying the delicious sauce left over on the plate! For main courses I tried the swordfish, cod and a side of Brussels sprouts. All were delicious but the swordfish was my favorite. It was served over a bed of buttered greens and fresh tomatoes that was perfect! I would definitely recommend coming here! They can accommodate small, family and large group dinning with high quality food and gorgeous views One thing to be aware of is that they do charge for the water they serve! It wasn't too expensive but I was not expecting it

Pretty decent food. It was a pleasant night when we dined here so we had our food outside on their patio. While we enjoyed the experience, nothing we had here was overly special. But all-in-all their food was tasty. I think the best dish we had here was the fish. It was fresh and perfectly cooked, if not a bit less substantial than expected based on the price. Everything else was par for the course. Overall, this one you should check out if you're in the area. Otherwise, no biggie.

4.5 stars! We picked an outdoor table for date night. Appetizer: lobster dumplings- great sauce and texture for dumpling wrapper. I wish each dumpling was bigger for the price. Entrées: scallops- no pepper and a bit on the saltier side and the yellow pepper sauce could use more flavor. I asked for pepper, a side of butter and lemon wedges and it made all the difference. Asparagus was perfectly cooked. Ribeye- cooked and broiled perfectly to medium and gravy was flavorful and yummy. Drinks: painkiller and blueberry skies. Strong and great flavors for both drinks! Would order both again! Apparently they make their drinks strong in the island:D Dessert: chocolate tarte with candied pecans: rich and chocolaty, so good! Enough to share. A bit of time taken before our order was taken but once it was taken it was a good pace from the drinks to the entrees. Beautiful of view of the marina and boats even at nighttime.

It was a challenge to find the restaurant. (TIP: It is best to map to "Hook'd" and go upstairs--3 Palms is immediately above Hook'd.) While meandering lost on the island we called for directions and to let them know about our status. We got a recording but moments later we received a call back and a text (very nice touch). We had a reservation for outdoor seating and sat overlooking the marina at American Yacht Harbor. We enjoyed the soft evening breeze in soaking in casual yet elegant vibe. Service was warm, friendly, and attentive. We opted for cocktails rather than wine and our drinks were quite delicious and beautifully garnished. Dinner started with the lobster dumplings which were sublime. Warm biscuits (crisp and buttery on the outside and soft on the inside) came out shortly afterwards. We were able to dip them in the velvety sauce that accompanied our dumplings. To be honest, they were so good on their own, we opted to savor much of our biscuits without sauce. We opted for grouper, snapper, and chicken entrees. All were outstanding and most notable was the Grouper Ponchartrain sautéed in a lemon butter sauce with giant lumps of crabmeat adorning it. We topped it all off with a chocolate tart with raspberries--a perfect conclusion to a great meal. We are grateful to the chef and staff who made our meal memorable.

3 Palms is by far the best restaurant we ate at the entire week we were in St. Thomas and St. John. We were traveling for our honeymoon and ate at several fancy restaurants on both islands (all which were fabulous), but 3 Palms was the one restaurant we would travel back for just to eat there. We only heard about the restaurant because a bartender on Saint John recommended it to us. We were a little worried at first, because not a lot of people on the island seem to know about it and we couldn't find it on the map. It's really a hidden gem on the water and Red Hook. We shared the octopus appetizer, which was perfectly cooked. My husband got the pumpkin and squash soup which was absolutely fabulous. We also shared the lobster dumplings, which are an absolute must. These are a staple on their menu and you must try them while you're here. The dumpling sauce was so good we slopped all of it up with the biscuits! My husband ordered the mahi and I ordered the snapper. Both were delicious and the snapper had a wonderful crispy outside. We are so glad we listened to the recommendation and will definitely be coming back!

We also started off with 4 people and two extra friends ended up joining, we thought it would be a problem but they added chairs without hesitation. We tried several appetizers, the lobster dumplings are amazing! A must try! Cocktails were delicious!

Our best dinner on our St. Thomas vacation. Beautiful location and exceptional attention to detail. Chef Nick and his kitchen team prepared delicious seafood from fresh Mahi and Swordfish, to delicious and creative lobster dumplings, to the best crabcakes that I've had outside of Maryland, to the best octopus that I've had anywhere in the world. My family split all three desserts available last night and could agree on our favorite - they were all so good. (Mine was the coconut cream cake with pineapples... as unique as it was delicious.) If you're looking for a fantastic evening out in or around Red Hook, I highly recommend 3 Palms. read more

We had a wonderful experience. It was worth the wait. Nice lounge seating upstairs overlooking the marina. All of our selections were great but the Grouper was fabulous and was a good sized portion. (It was better than Chuck's Fish). Desserts were great and found us ordering another. The bar is happening with a french quarter-like feel with beautiful chandelier above. The local ownership was present and active, with several of the locals choosing the bar as their new favorite spot! Highly recommend 3Palms! RTR. read more

So glad we finally got to try this place. Most restaurants on Saint Thomas leave much to be desired, but this is not one of those restaurants. The food was beyond amazing. I'm originally from New Orleans and the food here has some cajun flair. The sauce on the lobster dumplings made me want to lick the plate! 100% will be back! read more

Visited here earlier this month and we loved it! The location is amazing and I love what you have turned it into. We ordered quite a bit to try and I highly recommend the ribeye. It might be one the of the best we have ever had! The filet was good but the ribeye was so flavorful compared to it. Loved the sauce on the lobster ravioli but weren't crazy about the actually ravioli. Our friend loved the shrimp pasta and we also tried the brussel sprouts that were great! This place is incredible!! Everything we tried was amazing...the kale Caesar, the lobster dumplings, the lemon honey Brussels sprouts, and the grouper. OMG the grouper!!! Quite possibly the best fish dinner I have ever had. Excellent, friendly, and prompt service. I highly, highly recommend this place. We had a amazing dinner at 3 Palms! The Kale salad, crawfish etouffee, fingerling potatoes and chocolate tart dessert were spectacular. The flavor on every dish was just delicious, even the kale salad! The restaurant is also nestled on the second floor near the marina with a nice view in the day and in the evening- great spot, with excellent service! Definitely recommend read more

(Edit - after posting this review, the owner contacted me to apologize and explain that they were short staffed that night, which I appreciate. )The service was slow and our food was cold when it came out. The last straw was when we ordered dessert and a last glass of wine. The dessert came out and we finished it before the wine was even delivered. And a few minutes after the glass of wine was delivered, the hostess came over and asked us to finish up so they could seat the next party. When an establishment delays providing your food and drinks, and then asks you to leave because they are running out of time, that is ridiculous! read more

2 stars was for the beautiful ocean view, I'm sorry but tasteless and way overpriced for the quality. We have every app on the menu and there was literally nothing special about any of them. Nothing about the food is fine dining, pretty good service though. read more

We picked 3 palms because they took reservations on open table and as it was our first night on the island, we wanted something close to where we were staying. The food was just okay. We started with the Ceviche which was a bit too lemony. The octopus salad was good. We had the Grouper which had some sort of overcooked crust on one side of it which we had difficulty breaking through with a knife. When we pointed this out to the waitress, she checked with the kitchen who said they didn't do anything differently. If that was the case, they should have offered another piece of fish. My daughter's steak was quite flavorful but over charred on one side. The etoffuee was quite good. Some good, some not so good so overall just okay. $250 total including 3 drinks should get you better than just okay. read more

We dined here on Christmas Day. They were super busy which is great, and service was good despite how busy they were. We started with 2 cocktails, both tasty, then had the kale salad, and two mains. They were out of the dish I wanted, so I asked a few questions about ingredients in two other dishes and ultimately landed on a 3rd dish that didn't have the ingredient I don't like, bell peppers. The dish I chose, a pan fried fish, came out and it was smothered in tiny chopped bell peppers, even though the menu made no mention of them being in the dish. The fish was also very dry. Our server was very kind and comped the dish, but overall the prices were incredibly high for the quality of the food served. read more

We have been here almost a month and wanted to try something different. The atmosphere is very nice - we ate on the deck. I had the scallops and my husband had the snapper. Both were delicious! The sauce that came with the scallops was very flavorful and buttery. The little "biscuits" they served with the meal were a pleasant surprise, especially dipped in the sauce. This is not bar food for sure! Very pleased! read more

We ate at this restaurant twice, we tried to three times on a recent extended stay in the USVI. The first visit was very bad, and we left. The restaurant is never very full, but they aways seem short staffed. There is no hostess stand, so patrons have to awkwardly stand in the doorway. We stood waiting, and the bartender said someone would be right with us. A large group walked in behind us and stood waiting as well. The hostess appeared and looked at us and said, "Wilson Party?" We said no, but the patrons behind us said yes. She took them sat them before us. Aggravated, we still waited, but then she began serving them water and taking drink orders while we still stood waiting. We left. Our subsequent two visits had good food, though overpriced. I would recommend the hostess wear more modest clothing. She wears flowy dresses with bum flip flops and her chest is hanging out. My six year-old told me what she was wearing was "not acceptable." Not the best impression for a hostess. read more

Delicious. Do not let the bad reviews scare you, the other posters must be crazy . The food was perfect and the service attentive. We ate Beet and goat cheese salad, pork belly and watermelon salad, lobster dumplings, Tagliatelle, grouper and etoufee and we enjoyed it all. With 2 drinks and a bottle of sparkling water the tap came to $180 and we felt it was actually good value. read more

Nice atmosphere, good cocktails, delicious food. One person didn't care for her entree, but the other three of us loved everything. We all loved our appetizers and desserts. Knocked off one star for service. The hostess was very pleasant and welcoming, but our server was not. He spilled one of our drinks when he set it on our table and while he did wipe up the spill, he didn't offer to replace the cocktail so my friend would have a full drink. I asked to see a wine list and he seemed irritated by that request. He seemed to have a bit of an attitude the entire evening with us, although we were pleasant to him and didn't ask for anything unusual. The food was good enough that we may return as we will be on island for several more weeks. If so, I will request a different server when I make our reservation. read more

We had a fantastic dinner and the service was outstanding. Elgin was our waiter and very attentive to our needs and made some great recommendations. The lobster dumplings & octopus starters were well done. The beet salad had a variety of beets which were delicious. We had crab cakes and swordfish which we delicious. A lovely location.Very pricey for mediocre food.My house made tagliatelle with mushroom sauce was bland and there was very little "sauce",An amuse of two biscuits was brought with the entree b"because they were not ready before"-they were still not ready,under baked and doughy.My husbands fish was just ok-but a high price point,his salad with endive- the endive was browning on the edges.A disappointment. read more

We walked in off the street not knowing what to expect. I ordered the Mahi and from the first bite I was impressed. Did you ever eat more slowly trying to make it last longer? After the last bite I wanted to lick the plate. It was delicious. It was also very expensive and the portion was small. We have been in St Thomas for a week and I usually had trouble finishing the meal. This one I had room for dessert. Cheesecake which was good but not great. My wife had pan seared scallops and it was also very good. read more

My family is so happy we found 3 Palms. We had the most enjoyable dinner outside on the deck in the beautiful setting. Even though they were very busy, from the time we arrived until we left, everyone we encountered was exceptionally friendly and seemed really happy to have us there. Our waiter, Scott, made the evening perfect with expert advice on everything on the menu and great drink selections too. For a very newly opened restaurant, it was amazing how smoothly everything is running. Our food orders were perfect and, again, even though busy, everything got to us at exactly the right time. My wife and I have eaten all over the world at phenomenal restaurants and we both feel that 3 Palms ranks amongst the top of them. read more

Wow, this was a great find. Excellent cocktails, food and service. We had the octopus salad and lobster dumpling for an appetizer and the spring pesto and grouper for dinner. The place is a little hard to find but is in the middle of Red Hook and a beautiful setting right on the water. Surprisingly not too crowded. I'd highly recommend. Our favorite place so far in our week in St Thomas. read more

The host was friendly and we enjoyed the ambiance; however, that was unfortunately the best part of the night. We ordered a beer which was 3/4 foam and 1/4 beer, brought out with a dented can, server unapologetically told us it was poured wrong but didn't try to fix it. The servers all seemed rushed and unhappy about having to serve us, had to repeatedly ask for water. We ordered the watermelon and pork belly salad which was actually a very good dish. In addition, we ordered the lobster dumpling which is more of a potsticker and was underwhelming with the amount of lobster and taste of sauce, plus the texture was slimy. We also ordered the grouper and frankly just don't understand why they put a mediocre sauce on top of a wonderful piece of fish. Overall, simply not impressed, could've been made up for the lackluster food if service was better but it wasn't at all. read more

Two stars is generous for such a sub par establishment. The menu is very limited, so there is no reason not to get it right. The grouper was awful, very fishy and not fresh. It was not finished. The veggie tiki masala was not only horrible, it should be an embarrassment to serve. This is a better place for a drink,but definitely NOT dinner. it was our third time "trying" this out, and our last. It's a shame, it's nicely decorated and could be so much more. The menu is unimaginative, food is bland, not fresh, and certainly not worthy of the price. read more

We had a reservation and actually got there early... the hostess was so accommodating and sat us a a great table on the patio overlooking the harbor. The food and drinks were outstanding. We had the beet and goat cheese salad to start. Absolutely delicious! I had the grouper topped with crab and my husband had the wiener schnitzel. Both were excellent and the sauces were silky smooth and deliciously appropriate for the dish. While I had my favorite dirty martini, the drink menu was intriguing and so different the standard St. Thomas fare. Our server was very pleasant and they also had enough bussers/runners who actually knew what they were doing. read more

Our waitress was great, as well as the wine. Everything else was not. Got the Ribeye and my friend got the filet. Steaks were over cooked, and we got over charged for the filet. Nice atmosphere on the deck overlooking the harbor, drinks were excellent. We got the crawfish which was very good and very filling. The mahi mahi was good, but there were no sides and it was small and not filling. Overall good experience. read more

Wow! Just WoW! The atmosphere sitting overlooking the harbor was fantastic. The food was so delicious, one of the best meals I have ever had on island. We had the surf and turf - ooolala!! And the staff was so friendly and helpful. You could tell they enjoyed their jobs as it showed throughout the evening. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who visits or lives in St. Thomas!! read more

Thursday's is taco day from 5p-8p with unlimited rice, beans, chips and salsa! You've already tortured yourself in dieting to get into bikini ready shape, let this sushi and taco fun be your free pass to choose your love of food, over not wanting to get fat! If staying at the Ritz these two nights should be checked out. My only complaint is that the bathroom locations seem like the distance needed to get to St. John. But that's the laziness (aka selective participation) in me that gets stronger with each cocktail!
