Ricotta Cheese Cake

BEST DESSERT I HAVE EVER HAD! Let me start off by saying we had stayed here for a week and had went to multiple islands and nothing topped this dessert. We got the Ricotta cheese cake that comes with limoncello sorbet and they are like PB and J never should be separated, they paired so perfectly together your taste buds got both sides of the sweet scale in one. After a very long enjoyable day at the beach we stopped here after dinner to see if we could get dessert to go and the service was amazing, they got our order in fast (even though we didn't eat there). We came back multiple times for this just because it stayed on our mind the whole trip. A must have if you are visiting or staying here.

Best meal we had on the island! If you're looking for a special and quality meal, this is the place. Service was attentive and the ambiance was perfection. One of the most attractive restaurants I've been to. Would love to come again next time I am on the island!

The food was good. Pizze was excellent. Ingredients fresh and presented nicely. The service by management was great. The other employees are still in training so it is clear there are some road bumps like leaning over into peoples food or putting dirty forks back on the table but I am sure that will improve with time. Overall we would come back if we were at the resort. Not a destination spot but probably the best food on the island so far.

Gnocchi

The dining experience was underwhelming. We were tired from a day at the beach so we chose to dine at the resort. The appetizers of bruschetta and meatballs were amazing, so we were expecting the entrees to be just as good. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. 3 out of 4 pasta dishes came out lukewarm. The 2 pizzas we got were mediocre. The crust was not crispy at all, too much bread. We sent the pasta back to be heated, but they were not great. The gnocchi had a very basic marinara sauce. Scallop alfredo and rigatoni was decent. Seafood pasta was tasty, not a lot of seafood though. Overall, we're regretting not driving off site to dinner instead.

Appetizer portion of Tagliatelle pasta

Very good experience starts with one dish and one person. For us, it was Japan the bartender and the polenta bites appetizer. From the moment we sat down (originally for just a drink before going somewhere elsewhere for dinner) Jason took the time to learn not only our names but a little bit about us and what we liked to drink. We watched him make each drink with precision, care and craft. He learned everyone's name at the bar and somehow managed personal attention and dedication to each of the many couples and groups surrounding us. We were between appetizers, but he convinced us into the polenta bites after a small questionnaire and that was the beginning of our fabulous meal! Get the polenta bites... they are AMAZING. Then we split a pizza (the sausage one) and a pasta (tagliatelle) for our entrees. I wish we could have tried more and/or made it to dessert but everything was so good we will have to try other things another night. We can't wait to come back and hope that Jason is back at the bar to create our cocktails and provide another exceptional evening.

Ribeye with broccolini and mushrooms

This location is the most upscale on the on-resort dining options. If you are looking for a fancy dinner, this is the place to go. Having stated that, the dress code is not strict so you can have a casual dinner here as well. The menu changes but I do not know with what frequency. The website menu was different that our paper menu last night. Some items were similar/retained but there were also new additions. The wine list is decent and provides more options than at the club lounge. The style is listed as 'Sicilian' and perhaps it is, but it also seemed to have some mainland Italian influences. Regardless the preparation of the dishes was well executed and remained faithful to the Italian theme. For example, the ribeye was prepared with a garlic pesto garnish and the seasoning was distinctly Italian in flavor profile (although I could not identify every herb for you). The quality of the food was superb, and the presentation appealing... see attached photos. One issue with the menu: the 'whole lobster' is really a whole tail. The only reasons I did not give five stars are because of the menu issue regarding the lobster (I had to ask to find out the 'whole lobster' was just a tail) and because of the seating. There are options that include next to propane fire pits, on the open large patio, indoors, the covered smaller patio, and a romantic beach side candlelit table. We were not offered a choice from the concierge when booking, so I assumed we would be give a choice when we arrived (of course I understood the beachside was likely very limited and needed to be requested, but I assumed the other choices would be offered at the door). When we arrived we were quickly whisked to our seats in the small covered patio... confused, I assumed the empty tables indoors must be closed for Covid related safety reasons... and that the other outdoor seating was full. Imagine my disappointment when the next two tables to be sat were placed indoors. If offered the choice, Iwould have requested indoors. The failure to offer that choice with either booking or at arrival is unacceptable for a venue of this quality. Overall a positive experience and we will be back during this trip. If ownership or management reads this; fix the menu regarding the lobster and instruct your staff to offer seating choices to your guests.

Menu

The food was spectacular. Although pricey, we ate here twice since we were staying in the hotel. The carbonara was legit, the lobster (although cost $120) was arguably one of the best lobsters I've ever eaten. The steak (again pricey) was actually super good and a la par with many US restaurants charging the same. Bruschetta was incredible, wine selection excellent. The service, while super friendly, always seemed a little short staffed. Things took some time and it be of the two nights either our waitress was somewhere else mentally or had way too much going on for one person (I think the latter) Finally, the ambiance is spectacular, great views and the outside dining has ocean sounds, smells, and great views of the neighboring island. Highly recommend. Only thing that got this bad boy 4 stars was the struggling staff and a little pricey for the potions. More staff than portions considering where we were though.

Beautiful restaurant located in Ritz serving up Italian and seafood. Seafood was really fresh and drinks were good. We sat on the patio and it offers a great view. Friendly staff. Recommend reservations.

Catch of the day

We had a fabulous experience at Alloro. I have some food allergies (gluten, dairy) and they were extremely accommodating - even bringing a separate gluten free bread. I ordered the catch of the day and it was fantastic. Highly recommend

The food and drinks were disappointing, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you're nearby and just really need something to eat, though maybe pick something other than the pizza. Food & Drinks: We ordered a frozen piña colada, garlic knots, and a medium pizza (San Gennaro). Here's my review of each: Pina colada - Would not recommend. Unfortunately it was not very well blended (lots of thicker chunks of ice like a shaved ice) and had very little flavor (literally just a kiss of pineapple and coconut flavor). It was like drinking a La Croix, which I do enjoy, but not what I wanted. Garlic knots - These were just okay. The outside was pretty hard and it was missing a little salt to really bring out the flavor. San Gennaro pizza - This was such a letdown, and I'm not usually disappointed by pizza (I love anything from legit Italian pizza to Costco pizza). First, this wasn't really NY style pizza which they advertised - if that's what you're expecting, go elsewhere. That wasn't the real issue though. It overall lacked flavor and wasn't well executed. The crust did not have much flavor and was pretty hard. The veggies on the pizza were anywhere from cold to lukewarm and didn't seem fresh. Lastly, we had ordered the pizza with pepperoni added, but seems they just didn't write it down in our order. At that point we weren't going to wait another hour for pizza, so we just took what we got without complaint. Size wise, the medium pizza came with 6 slices and was enough for 2 people. Service: Service was really slow, however we were warned before we sat down that orders would take about 45 minutes to come out, which we were fine with. Drinks came out in 10 minutes, garlic knots in 25 minutes, and a medium Pizza in 1 hour. There was also a misunderstanding about who was supposed to take our order, so it took a while to get our order in. We sat around for 20 minutes before deciding to just go up to a server and ask them if they could take our order. They did apologize for the mix-up once they realized what happened. Ambiance: Very laid-back ambiance with loud music and some patio seating. Cats (that I think they own) were also roaming around.

We stopped at this stop while visiting the kiosks. We were not disappointed…read more The pizza is freshly made and the slices are big. We had a slice of the Luquillo Beach pizza (so delicious!) and a slice with pepperoni, black olives, and onion. Get a mojito if you stop there!

A brief aside: If you're driving here, expect a mess. Coming from SoCal, we make forays into DTLA and deal with similar stresses -- one way streets everywhere, dense traffic, extremely limited parking, pedestrians everywhere (many intoxicated and stumbling into traffic), potholes/construction, police closing lanes without reason, and stray cats running through the streets. Ubering here may be worthwhile! We had a 45 min wait, likely exacerbated by Spring break in PR. We used our free time to walk Calle de la Fortaleza -- very beautiful. They called my cell phone when the table was ready (don't forget to turn off your Spam blocker!). The interior is very unique and the place was buzzing. Service was slow, even by PR standards, and our waitress was the worst in the restaurant. She said little, brought us bottled water when we asked for tap, and never came back to check on us. We flagged other waiters for other incidentals like napkins and for our bill. The garlic knots and pizza were great. The pepperoni pizza was 10/10, with a fluffy crust but crispy otherwise. The Margherita pizza was average -- the tomato was sliced too thick and undercooked and the dough was soggy. In spite of some hiccups, the place was really good and I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt that a second trip would be better -- other tables had good service and the other waiters were very helpful. I'm still not sure if we were give bottled water because we were gringo tourists and they figured they'd up charge us or if it was an honest mistake.

They have a standard menu of appetizers, pasta, main dishes, and pizza, with some seasonal dishes thrown in the mix. They have a good flow of customers, and it's an island, so some ingredients run out. Make an early reservation for the most options, but you'll enjoy even if they're out of some. Four of us shared two starters, both traditional, one meat and cheese, the other roasted vegetables, both delicious. The balsamic was strong without overpowering the quality of the food, and the quality of the vegetables was especially good considering the challenge of getting fresh foodstuffs here. The roasted garlic with the vegetables rounded out the flavors. All pasta and main dishes were large and could have (should have!) been shared. Pasta was perfectly cooked, not too soft, not too hard. It held it's shape and had a good mouth feel. They didn't overuse oil to keep the noodles from sticking, and they've definitely worked out the challenges of cooking and keeping pasta in that humidity. They have a selection of house flavored martinis made with fresh fruit. These were also delicious - and strong! Make sure you're hydrated and have a designated driver if you're having more than one. While it may seem odd to go for Italian while on Vieques, it's well worth it, just make sure you get a reservation! This place fills up!
