I had extended family in town that were staying in the Maple Grove area & they wanted to eat somewhere nearby. I had eaten here yeeeeears ago before I cleaned my diet, but sonce there aren't clean options in the MG area (yet), I opted for this one because of the fun menu. To my GREAT surprise, there was ONE thing I could eat! They carry Northstar Bison patties! Northstar is one of the very few bison companies that does 100% grass-feeding (majority of bison ranches in the U.S. actually give feedlot treatment right at the end). I was excited to be able to order it (but had to modify the accessories) & my sister & incle followed suit. The downside is that no one taught the chef on how to cook up bison (or anything grass-fed I would assume). COMPLETELY overcooked (my sister & uncle's were, too)! But the flavor was good ;-) My Mom loved her grilled chicken salad & the rest of the family seemed to enjoy their meals, too. From their breakfast to dinner menu options you'll always find something to cure the hangry- their chicken meatballs are killer for an app and you can never go wrong with cheese curds. We went tonight and when we got there we asked to be seated and we're told 5 minutes, no worries happy to wait.... Then a couple walked in behind us and was promptly seated... we were told it will be just one more minute... ok... we got to the table and ordered, the food was ok, the wings were the highlight, because our waitress could not have cared less about our table. She was absent and we had been done with our appetizer for 15 minutes then we finally had our entree order taken and following our meal we sat finished for 10 minutes and when she came back to cash out the only other table she carried on for 15 minutes where we finally had to go ask the manager inside if we could pay... order take out, save yourself the headache! read more

This place has changed, I know they are doing their best during Covid and all but we had to wait an extremely long time to order our food; honestly I think the waitress forgot about us! She was very nice though. The food did come fast. I ordered the fish tacos and it was a 6/10 for me. It just tasted too fishy. My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich which was way too greasy and oily. We were hungry so ate our food and left. We have been there multiple times last year and liked it but today was just different/off. The atmosphere was off as well. I have no problem with those guards between tables but the ones they have look like hospital guards, not very welcoming and look off for a restaurant. Just the presentation of food was like a fast food restaurant. Maybe it was this particular day. We probably won't be back as I keep remembering the bad taste in my mouth and atmosphere. read more

This was my second visit to 3 Squares but my first visit for breakfast. The food, the mimosas, the atmosphere and especially the service were all fantastic! We called ahead for a same day reservation and were so glad we did because the place filled up quickly and when we left there was over an hour wait. On to the food, 2 of us in the party had the Joe's Special with a side of bacon which was so, so good! It's a scramble with lots of delicious things. Another person had the pancakes and hot chocolate which were given the big thumbs up. The other person in our party had the spinach frittata which she also loved. The service was great. The Bison Burger was ok. I ordered it w/o a bun and the taste of the meat was equal to a frozen burger from Walmart... But that's just my taste assessment. I was not impressed. I also ordered the Coleslaw. It was also just ok. My Apple Cider Mule was maybe 4 oz of liquid and another 4 oz of ice cubes. Not an impressive value for the price. My buddy had a sandwich that I believe he said was "good". I paid $80 (tip included) for both lunch sandwiches and a couple drinks...but I felt the total cost should have been half of that for the quality and quantity of what we got. If you have a lot of $$$ and are really hungry, this place is ok. read more

It gets 2 stars for having the best craft tap selection in town (which isn't saying much given MG establishments haven't recognized the demand for good quality beer), but the food is lacking, both in variety and quality. Their desire to have the broadest selection of tap craft beer in town is a gift and a curse. Every time (literally) I go there, I try to order a beer or the off the printed drink menu and am told that they no longer have it. Why have printed menus if you can't keep your brands in stock? Not always a big deal because there are other options, but an annoyance to be certain. I highly recommend that they implement the chalkboard above the bar method since the printed menu isn't reliable or accurate. The staff is sometimes astute, sometimes careless, but overall service is fine. Come here for a few drinks, but I recommend elsewhere for food. Bonus for warm weather patio seating, you know, the 2 months a year that we get it. read more

I've now covered all the bases at 3 Squares! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and even on a Tuesday Happy Hour! Gotta say that rounding the bases has been enjoyable. I think I wrote about lunch and Breakfast, dinner was fantastic. I almost never order chicken when I go out for dinner but I tried the stuffed chicken this time and it was very good. Happy Hour on a Tuesday night was a beer event as well. The place was packed. I arrived 1/2 hour early to get a seat and the place already had a waiting list. I lucked out on seats at the bar and am glad I did. They had $2.00 Fulton as special but I think the normal Happy Hour is $2 tap beers. I will say for the burbs this place has a very good tap beer selection. I think they only have one of the standard, bud, miller, Coors type of beer. Couple of Fat Tires, Fulton and some other nice brews. Can't say enough good things about this place. Other than foggy head Wednesday is never fun but I think that falls on me. KT read more

We came here for brunch on Saturday. It wasnt that busy so the service was excellent. Our server (and her trainee) were very nice, polite, and attentive. We ordered eggs benedict, french toast, biscuits and gravy, and a bloody mary. I really liked the eggs benedict. It was good though not the best Ive ever had. The hash brown though was well seasoned. It was not a thick glob of mushy bland potato like some other places offer. The hash here was thinner, but it was also crispy with enough salt and pepper that it was probably the first time I didnt really need any ketchup to eat it. My bf really liked his biscuits and gravy, but both of us didnt care for the fruit cup that came with the dish one bit. The french toast was also very tasty and came in huge portion. The only major downer was the bloody mary. It was really terrible. It wasnt very tomatoey at all. I took one sip and had to give it all to my bf. He also didnt care for it, but he finished it anyway since it had booze lol. read more

This review is based only on the Bar. My Brother and I stopped in last Sunday for a drink and a chance to watch Major League Baseball on a bigger screen. It would have been even better if we were here earlier in the day watching the epic Brazil vs. USA Women's Soccer Match. Instead, we say that one on the small screen at the Lake Cabin, with most of our Family members cheering on. A couple years ago, I bought a DVD of a "B" flick called "Carousel of Revenge". It continues to be a huge family hit, mostly because of the Arnold's Park (Iowa)-based plot, some "so bad it's good" acting, and one particular reference to the "Hottest Nightclub in the Twin Cities". Let's say that 3 Squares was Scott's attempt to find such a "Happening" place in Maple Grove. 3 Squares is located in yet another fake Downtown Area, but has a really comfortable Bar vibe, and a great selection of draft beers. I was very pleased with my Minnesota beer (Surly IPA), but particularly enjoyed just hanging out with my Brother. Alyssa at the bar was also very friendly and welcoming. However, the next time I come in, I'll be more mindful of the generous 7 Day Happy Hour times - Until 6, and then from 9 to close - $2 for any beer on the list. Happy hour beer prices changed recently. Taps are now $3/$4 instead of $2/$3. Surly furious is still $3 though. They also have their own beer line now at $2.50/pint. Their beer taps stopped working today and only 8 out of 24 taps worked. I asked if I could order the lift bridge beer at hh prices but they said no. This beer was $6 normally and not offered on hh so I asked if they could do $4 since most of their beers were down (almost all the hh beers were down). The waitress asked the manager and the manager said no. So we ended up leaving earlier than planned. I think they could have given all beers at hh prices to compensate for the taps not working. read more

The ranch. Ugh. The ranch is so dang good. So good I should just swear and say so damn good. We live in Texas now, but when we come home to MN I have to stop here for the ranch and the Pierogis. Cannot find Pierogis like these in TX. I love the horseradish sauce for dipping. It's got a very nice "kick" to it. Now the ranch. The ranch goes on everything and is perfect. I'd even eat it on cake. I usually get french fries and dip them into so much ranch. The ranch is comparable to the Bay View ranch (a restaurant in Minnetonka), but slightly better. I'm pretty sure it's made with unicorn tears. The service was ok. Usually is just ok, but couldn't care less as I just came for the ranch. The customers though...I opened the door 2 times for 2 sets of "ladies" and neither said thank you. Maybe it's southern hospitality(by me), but I thought it was also Minnesota nice here. I guess they were too busy these days looking down at their phones to realize some doors don't automatically open. This restaurant has some of the best food in Maple Grove. This is really a family restaurant, with many families out enjoying lunch or dinner...family orientated. This is not a chain restaurant, it is run by a local group that has a couple other restaurants...and they know how to make good food! Everything here tastes homemade, and I don't know how they do it! The burgers are great, the salads are very good, and they have homemade cornbread (you have to ask for it with your salad!). They have a craft soup of the day which is really good (I have tried several, and I am a fan!). They even have homemade Peirogies! They have a nice bar with a good selection of beers on tap. They do have a happy hour with some nice apps and drink specials during the week. They have a nice patio as well. The wait can be long...so call ahead and get on the list, as weekends are CRAZY busy. read more

Their food is top notch on quality and even creativity! But the real winner of this place is their cocktails. Holy cannoli they have amazing cocktails. I love coming here when the seasons are slightly changing to see what new crazy cocktail they have concocted. Always delicious, always unique. On to the food... CHEESE CURDS. Their cheese curds are a delicious fried salty/sweet combo that melts in your mouth. The curds themselves are delicious but that sauce to dip them in...I want to have it on everything!!! I usually get one of their sandwiches as a main, but I have honestly never had anything on their menu I haven't liked. This apparently was the place to be on a Friday night! They brought out cheese curds on a stick and set them at the hostess station for people to eat. It was very crowded and I could never get close enough to sample. After being told about a half hour wait we did get seated before this window of time. We were technically seated in the bar area in a booth but it was right next to the pass-through into the dining room, kitchen, and bar area so it was a bustling area and kind of hard to hear. Since my friends and I had not dined here for dinner, the waitress gave a run-through on the menu of what 3 Squares is known for which was helpful. She recommended the sweet-potato fries on the app menu. They were not the super crispy fries that some restaurants put out there, and were more authentic. The chipotle aioli was really what made these delish! One of the recommendations was the Steak & Pierogies, which sounded amazing however I decided to go with another of the recommendations- the turkey burger. It was good, and it had a nutty texture (poblano peanut pesto aioli). It came with french fries or coleslaw, but I upgraded to the grill salad for a $1.50. I come here breakfast, dinner, and happy hour. For each, I'm always happy with the food I get and the overall experience. I'm really big into breakfast, but always have a difficult time deciding what to get because I like so many different items on their breakfast menu. The killer banana waffles are very good, but may be too sweet for some. I always enjoy their eggs Benedict and find them better than other breakfast places. Their French toast is also a great choice. Pretty much can't go wrong with their breakfast choices. I've gone to both happy hours before and after their dinner rush. I love the sliders since it comes with two and fries (basically a meal). The riblets are also a favorite of mine. For the desserts I've had the cheesecake, chocolate cake, and banana cream pie. The cheesecake was good, but nothing special. The chocolate cake was good, as was the deconstructed banana cream pie. Overall I really enjoy this restaurant. It's always busy and in the summer the patio is lovely. read more

I rarely leave poor reviews, but wanted to as we were so surprised at 3 Squares, it has really declined in service and food quality. We've been occasional patrons for many years but this visit will be the last. Table for four at 12:30pm, our friends were served a beverage however we were late to arrive. My husband and I sat with our friends for 20 minutes before our server arrived. No apologies from the waitress. Food arrived from several different people, one guy didn't say a word, the other was the bartender who was very friendly. Food was mediocre at best, fish was greasy and chicken on salad was tiny pieces with little flavor, food used to be stellar. The hostess was courteous and friendly. If it was possible to give zero stars I totally would. I have never eaten at 3 Squares and after this experience I will never eat there again. I ordered two eggs benedict breakfasts for delivery and they were terrible! The hollandaise sauce was awful, clearly out of a can, luckily I had a pack in my cupboard so I could make something better. The english muffin was soggy, the hash browns were soggy, and the final act that stuck the nail in the coffin was the egg. When you order an eggs benedict you expect a poached egg, one with a runny yolk. This concoction came with a very hard egg, essentially hard-boiled. It makes me extremely angry that I paid $30 for below par food, a complete waste of money! read more

Stopped in here for lunch on Sunday. It was extremely hard to walk right by The Claddagh and not have lunch there but I'm so glad we did. We were seated right away and they even had the Vikes game on which was excellent because I'm usually stuck to my couch for the game on Sunday! Our server asked if we'd been there before (which I hate for some reason) but this time I answered honestly and said no we haven't. She made a couple recommendations, took our drink orders and let us have some time to look. All the breakfasts sounded so good, I'll be back here to try it sometime soon! I ordered what they call a Walleye burrito ( it's really just a wrap ) but holy cow was it ever good. My partner in crime for the day had the fish & Chips and it was excellent. I have no idea what their magical seasonings are that is in the breading but I'm pretty sure it would make carp good! The flavor just explodes! Kind of an interesting venue with the open all day idea, but still catering to the late night crowd with a full bar. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We came without reservations and needed a table for 7 on a busy Saturday night(7pm). We waited about a half hour and were asked if a table for 6 would do, with one extra squeezing in. It wasn't too tight, so we made due. Drinks were kind of expensive for a place like this, $5 for most beers, and $8.50 for any specialty alcoholic drinks. Food was similar, not overly expensive but not cheap either. The fish tacos looked awesome, which two of my friends ended up getting. My only real complaint is probably that the desert menu was quite poor. Nothing on it sounded very interesting or enticing. I was really looking forward to a nice desert as well, but no luck here.
